For streaming Bloodborne from a PS5 to a Steam Deck, start with Chiaki-NG’s current defaults rather than a supposedly universal resolution, bitrate, decoder, or frame-rate preset. Sony’s guidance sets network speed targets, but does not prescribe Steam Deck settings. First enable PS5 Remote Play, pair the devices, and make the connection stable; then adjust a relevant Chiaki-NG option only if a specific symptom remains.
What settings should you use?
There is no verified universal “best” Chiaki-NG video or decoder configuration for Bloodborne on Steam Deck. Sony’s current Remote Play guidance addresses connection quality generally, and the Chiaki-NG project documentation does not specify a single Steam Deck preset. Start with the defaults in your installed client version.
- If the picture stutters or the session disconnects: troubleshoot Wi-Fi quality and network congestion before changing video options.
- If the connection is stable but image quality is unsatisfactory: inspect the options available in your installed Chiaki-NG version and change a relevant setting incrementally. The right trade-off depends on your network and device configuration.
- If a setting is missing: do not assume another version’s menu or preset applies to yours.
Remote Play is streaming, so the home network affects how responsive and clear the session feels. Sony’s speed figures are connection thresholds, not guarantees of smooth play.

- Enable Remote Play on the PS5. Open Settings > System > Remote Play and turn on Enable Remote Play. Sony says this needs to be enabled only the first time. Sony’s Remote Play settings guide gives the setup details.
- Install and configure Chiaki-NG on the Steam Deck. Follow the current Chiaki-NG project documentation. Chiaki-NG is an independent open-source client, not Sony’s official Steam Deck app, and its maintainers state that it is not endorsed or certified by Sony.
- Try discovery on your home network. Keep the PS5 online and signed into the relevant PlayStation account. Sony’s setup guidance also calls for an updated console and the same account used for Remote Play.
- Pair manually if discovery fails. Connect the PS5 and Steam Deck to the same network, choose Pair Device on the PS5, and enter the displayed code in the client.
- Start a session and assess it before tuning. Note whether the issue is stutter, disconnection, or image quality; that symptom determines what to investigate next.
Sony’s official Remote Play pages do not list Steam Deck as a supported device for the native Remote Play app. Using Chiaki-NG is a separate, unofficial route.

Improve the network before adjusting video options
Sony Interactive Entertainment’s support guidance, accessed October 9, 2026, gives a minimum connection speed of 5 Mbps upload and 5 Mbps download for Remote Play. It recommends at least 15 Mbps upload and 15 Mbps download for best performance. These are general connection requirements and recommendations, not a promise of a particular latency, image quality, or Bloodborne experience.
- For a Steam Deck at home, use a strong 5 GHz Wi-Fi connection where available.
- If possible, connect the PS5 to the router with Ethernet. An optional Cat 6 Ethernet cable can serve this purpose when the console and router have Ethernet ports; the Deck remains wireless, and a cable does not guarantee lower latency.
- Pause downloads and reduce other network activity while testing. Sony recommends limiting competing use because congestion can affect the session.
- If the Deck is far from the router, test closer to it to determine whether coverage is contributing to instability.

Troubleshoot a session that still fails
Stutter or inconsistent responsiveness
- Check that the Deck is on a strong 5 GHz Wi-Fi connection, then test with competing downloads or streaming paused.
- If practical, wire the PS5 to the router and retry.
- Compare the result near the router with the result in your usual play location. A difference points toward Wi-Fi coverage or stability rather than a universal client preset.
- Only after checking the network, try a relevant option exposed by your installed Chiaki-NG version, changing one setting at a time.
Discovery or pairing problems
Confirm that Remote Play is enabled, the PS5 is online and updated, and the devices are on the same network for manual pairing. Use Pair Device on the PS5 and enter the displayed code in Chiaki-NG if automatic discovery does not find the console.

Sony identifies UDP port 8572 as relevant to Remote Play and warns that NAT Type 3 may prevent a connection. These are later checks after confirming Remote Play setup and basic network stability; router configuration varies, so do not change firewall or port settings blindly. Consult Sony’s connection troubleshooting guidance for the applicable checks.

Will Bloodborne work in every setup?
Sony’s general Remote Play documentation does not specifically confirm Bloodborne compatibility across all accounts, regions, and configurations. Sony also notes that some games do not support Remote Play and that some images may not display during a session. Try connecting rather than treating compatibility as guaranteed.
