The best wall-mountable soundbar is the one whose manufacturer documents a compatible bracket for your exact model and gives clear instructions for your wall and TV layout. On that basis, Sonos Arc with the separately sold Arc Wall Mount is the clearest documented pairing; Sonos Beam has its own Beam Wall Mount kit, Bose offers a Soundbar Wall Bracket accessory for compatible Smart Soundbar models, and Samsung publishes model-specific mounting instructions. These are installation-fit recommendations, not a ranking of sound quality, price or availability.
What makes a soundbar a good wall-mounting choice?
A soundbar can be physically light enough to hang yet still be a poor wall-mounting candidate if its bracket, screw locations or cable routing are undocumented. Evaluate the complete system—soundbar, approved mount, wall construction and television position—rather than buying a generic bracket first.
- Exact model compatibility: the mount should name your precise model or be supplied by that model’s manufacturer.
- Documented hardware: instructions should identify bracket orientation, screw locations and the fasteners or anchors appropriate to the installation surface.
- TV clearance: the soundbar must fit below the television without blocking the screen, remote sensor or ventilation.
- Obstacle clearance: nearby walls, cabinets and shelves can affect both installation access and the sound field.
- Positioning aids: a template and a level reduce the chance of drilling an incorrectly spaced or crooked hole pattern.
Because manufacturers use different hole patterns and clearances, a bracket that fits one product is not automatically safe for another. Treat every dimension in this guide as model-specific unless it is explicitly identified as general installation practice.
Best documented wall-mount options
The following choices are “best” for a particular mounting need, not an overall sound-quality contest. Official documentation reviewed for these products does not provide a comparable listening test, current price survey or stock check.

Model-specific guidance
Sonos Arc: the clearest dedicated-mount pairing
Sonos’s Arc guide says, “You can secure the soundbar to a wall with a compatible wall mount.” It immediately recommends the custom-designed Sonos Arc Wall Mount, which is sold separately. This makes Arc a strong choice when your priority is a documented accessory designed around the soundbar rather than a universal bracket whose fit you must infer.
Confirm that the product in your carton is Arc, not Arc SL or Beam, before ordering the bracket. Check the current guide for the hole pattern, allowable wall surfaces and any clearance around your television. Keep the mount, soundbar and installation instructions together in case you move the system later.
Sonos Arc SL: follow the clearance and drilling details exactly
The Arc SL instructions call for a minimum 4-inch (102 mm) gap between the soundbar and the television. They also specify pilot-hole sizes by wall material, require the bracket to be leveled, and direct you to slide the soundbar onto the secured bracket. For the best sound quality, the same instructions say both ends should remain at least 1 foot (30 cm) from a wall or another obstruction.

Sonos Beam: use the Beam kit, not an assumed Arc bracket
Sonos recommends a Beam Wall Mount kit sold separately and supplies Beam-specific clearance and installation guidance. Beam and Arc have different enclosures and mounting layouts, so treat the kit names as model identifiers. Verify the Beam generation and the current instructions before marking the wall.
Bose Smart Soundbar: template-based positioning
Bose describes its Soundbar Wall Bracket accessory as including a quick-start guide and mounting template. A template is useful when the television is already fixed in place: you can position the soundbar, mark the hole centers and check the screen clearance before drilling. Bose’s accessory description does not by itself prove compatibility with every Smart Soundbar, so match the exact model number to the bracket documentation.
Samsung soundbars: regional guidance, exact model manual
Samsung Australia recommends installing a soundbar at least 5 cm below a wall-mounted TV for optimal performance. Its guidance also calls for M5 screws 35 mm or longer and says to connect cables before installing the unit on the wall. These are Samsung’s published recommendations for the products and region covered by that page—not a universal specification. Read the manual for your exact model and market before buying screws or anchors.
How to choose a compatible soundbar wall mount
Start with the model number
Record the full model designation from the soundbar label or its setup app. Names such as “Arc,” “Arc SL,” “Beam” or “Smart Soundbar” are not enough if a manufacturer sells multiple generations. Search the manufacturer’s support page for that exact designation and look for a wall-mount section, accessory list or installation drawing.

Prefer the manufacturer’s accessory when one is specified
A dedicated mount is the strongest evidence of fit because its bracket geometry and attachment points were designed for that soundbar family. A universal mount can be appropriate only when its published load rating, hole spacing, contact points and instructions explicitly accommodate your model. Do not rely on a product photograph or a statement that it is “universal.”
Match the fastener to the wall, not just the soundbar
Drywall, wood studs, masonry and metal-stud partitions require different anchors and drilling methods. The Arc SL guide illustrates this principle by giving different pilot-hole sizes for different wall materials. Use the fastener type and diameter specified by the mount instructions, and locate a structural stud or suitable masonry fixing where the instructions require one. If the supplied hardware does not suit your wall, obtain an appropriate substitute rather than forcing the wrong anchor.
Check the whole cable path
Measure the route for power, HDMI, optical, Ethernet or other cables before the bracket is fixed. A cable that exits directly behind the bracket may prevent the soundbar from sliding fully into place. Samsung’s guidance specifically tells installers to connect cables before putting the unit on the wall; that sequence can avoid reaching behind a newly mounted bar.

Clearance and placement below a wall-mounted TV
Place the soundbar centered on the television unless the model’s instructions say otherwise. Keep the front of the bar unobstructed and leave room to operate the bracket’s locking mechanism and connect cables.

Measure from the actual television frame and the soundbar’s highest point, not from a decorative trim piece. Check for a TV wall plate, floating shelf, center-channel recess, curtains and doors that could collide with the bar. If the TV tilts, allow for its lowest and highest positions.
Tools and preparation
Gather the items named by your model’s instructions. A typical installation may need a tape measure, pencil, level, drill and the specified bit, but the correct bit and anchor depend on the wall. A stud finder can help locate framing; it does not replace the manufacturer’s load and fastener guidance.
- Exact soundbar and compatible mount.
- Current installation guide for that model and mount.
- Level and measuring tape.
- Drill and pilot bit specified for the wall material.
- Approved screws, anchors or stud fixings.
- All cables, connected and tested before final mounting where the instructions advise it.
Disconnect power while drilling. Keep the soundbar supported until every required fastener is tightened and the bracket’s locking feature is engaged.

- Identify the exact model. Write down the full model number and download the matching mount and soundbar instructions from the manufacturer.
- Choose the final position. Center the bar with the TV, apply the model’s specified TV gap and check end clearances and nearby obstructions.
- Plan cables. Connect and test the cables if the manual recommends doing so before hanging the unit. Confirm that plugs can bend without pressing against the wall.
- Mark the bracket. Hold the supplied template or bracket at the measured height. Use a level; mark every required hole, not just the easiest one to reach.
- Confirm the substrate. Determine whether each hole enters a stud, masonry or hollow wall. Select only the anchor and pilot-hole size specified for that condition.
- Drill pilot holes. Drill straight to the depth required by the instructions. Remove dust from masonry holes if the anchor instructions call for it.
- Attach the bracket. Install the prescribed screws and anchors, tightening them evenly. Recheck the bracket with the level before final tightening.
- Mount the soundbar. Follow the model’s attachment motion—for Arc SL, the instructions describe sliding the bar into place—then engage any retaining screw or lock.
- Test before finishing. Restore power, play audio, check HDMI or optical control, and verify that no cable is strained or pinched.
- Recheck after use. Inspect for movement, vibration or a widening wall hole after the first listening session and again after a few days.
Common mistakes and fixes
Buying a bracket before checking compatibility
Symptom: the holes do not align or the bar cannot slide onto the bracket. Fix: stop drilling, identify the exact model and exchange the bracket for the manufacturer-named accessory or a mount that publishes matching dimensions.

Using one anchor type for every wall
Symptom: a screw spins, a plug pulls out or the bracket rocks. Fix: remove the load, inspect the substrate and install the wall-specific fixing required by the manual. Do not compensate by simply using a longer screw in an unsuitable anchor.
Mounting too close to the TV
Symptom: the soundbar touches the display, blocks a sensor or leaves no room to connect cables. Fix: remount at the model’s documented gap; use the larger clearance when another device or the TV’s movement requires it.
Ignoring side obstructions
Symptom: one end is beside a wall or cabinet and audio appears uneven. Fix: move the bar or the obstruction. Arc SL instructions specifically call for 30 cm at each end, but other models may specify something different.
Connecting cables after the bar is locked in place
Symptom: an HDMI or power plug cannot be inserted without removing the bar. Fix: power down, release the mount and connect cables in the sequence prescribed by the model manual. Samsung’s published guidance illustrates why pre-connection can be useful.
Skipping the level
Symptom: the soundbar visibly slopes or one end sits closer to the TV. Fix: loosen the bracket, level it against the wall and retighten all required fasteners evenly. Sonos’s Arc SL instructions explicitly call for using a level.
What to verify before you buy
- The mount listing names your exact soundbar model and generation.
- The manufacturer’s current guide is available for download.
- The bracket supports your wall construction with approved hardware.
- The planned TV gap and side clearances fit your room.
- Cable connectors and bend radius fit behind the mounted bar.
- The package includes a template or clearly dimensioned drawing if you need one.
- You have a safe drilling method and a second person to support the soundbar during attachment.
For a purchase search, the most useful generic term is soundbar wall mount, followed by the full model number. Filter the results by the manufacturer’s compatibility statement rather than by appearance, price or a universal-fit label.
Bottom line
Choose the soundbar whose manufacturer gives you the most specific, verifiable mounting path. Sonos Arc paired with the dedicated Arc Wall Mount is the clearest documented option; Beam, Bose Smart Soundbar and Samsung models each require their own model-and-bracket check. Measure the TV gap, preserve side clearance, use wall-appropriate fixings and follow the exact manual before drilling. That process matters more than a generic “universal” bracket claim.
