The best small soundbar is the one that fits your available surface and works with your TV—not necessarily the shortest bar or the one with the most format logos. For a compact setup, shortlist the 14-inch Roku Streambar if space and an integrated streamer matter most, the 25.63-inch Sonos Beam (Gen 2) for a compact expandable system, or the 27.34-inch Bose Smart Soundbar if Dolby Atmos with up-firing drivers is a priority. These recommendations reflect named reviewers’ assessments and manufacturers’ specifications, not hands-on testing by itechguides.com.

Which small soundbar fits your setup?

RTINGS’ 2026 small-soundbar guide names picks for different needs; its labels are reviewer judgments, not a universal ranking. The guide says RTINGS has tested more than 255 soundbars, a figure specific to that publication. Check the current model suffix, local stock, and price before buying, since those details can vary by region.

Soundbar Best suited to Size or distinguishing features Trade-off
Roku Streambar Very tight spaces and a compact TV setup RTINGS lists it at 14 inches wide; it has a built-in Roku streamer. Its 2.0-channel layout has no dedicated center or surround channels. RTINGS considers it better for voice-focused content than cinematic impact.
Sonos Beam (Gen 2) A short bar with room to expand later Sonos lists it at 25.63 inches wide. It supports HDMI ARC/eARC, Wi-Fi, Dolby Atmos, speech enhancement, Trueplay room tuning, and optional subwoofer and rear speakers. RTINGS notes limited deep bass, no Bluetooth, and limited sound customization. Trueplay requires a supported iOS device.
Bose Smart Soundbar Compact Atmos playback with up-firing drivers Bose lists dimensions of 27.34 × 2.21 × 4.09 inches, five speakers, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and Dolby Atmos. RTINGS says its soundstage is narrower than the Beam’s and its customization less extensive than Samsung’s. Bose’s suggested 10 × 12-foot room size is manufacturer guidance, not an independent guarantee.
Samsung HW-S60D Manual sound adjustment and room correction RTINGS describes automatic room correction, a graphic EQ, channel adjustments, Bluetooth, and a remote; the bar is about 27 inches wide. RTINGS says its stereo soundstage is narrower than the Beam’s. Verify local availability and the exact model suffix.

For a fifth option, Yamaha announced the B200A as a 23.5-inch Dolby Atmos bar with a built-in subwoofer, Clear Voice, Bluetooth, HDMI eARC/ARC, optical, and AUX. Yamaha announced U.S. availability for November 2026 at $249.95; that launch date was still in the future as of the October 7, 2026 source timestamp. Confirm that it has launched and is in stock before treating it as a purchase option. Its “most compact” wording is Yamaha’s claim, not an independently verified comparison. Yamaha’s announcement and specifications provide the vendor details.

Will it fit your TV, stand, or desk?

Measure the usable space before comparing sound features. Check width between TV stand legs, height beneath the screen, available depth, and clearance for a wall-mounted TV or soundbar. Leave room for cables and ensure the bar will not block the TV’s remote sensor or screen.

What small size means for sound

RTINGS notes that small soundbars typically have less bass output and loudness, and a narrower soundstage, than larger counterparts. A compact bar can work well near a desk or in a small room, but may not fill a large open-plan space. If you want stronger low-end impact or a more enveloping surround presentation, consider whether you have room for separate components rather than expecting a small all-in-one bar to deliver the same scale.

Decide whether you want a subwoofer

A built-in subwoofer keeps the system in one enclosure, while a separate sub can occupy floor space and add setup complexity. Sonos supports expansion with a subwoofer; Bose lists bass-module accessories. Either route can change the system’s footprint and total cost, so treat expansion as a real space decision rather than a free feature.

Understand what Atmos does—and does not—tell you

A Dolby Atmos label does not mean two compact bars use the same hardware or create the same effect. RTINGS says the Bose uses up-firing drivers for height information, while the Beam (Gen 2) supports Atmos but lacks height channels. The Yamaha announcement lists Atmos, but does not establish independent listening performance. Confirm that your TV and connection can pass the audio formats you plan to use; format support alone does not guarantee a particular result.

Check connections and daily-use features

Match the soundbar to the TV’s available audio outputs and the way you plan to use it. HDMI ARC/eARC is a common TV-to-bar connection, but check the TV’s manual for port availability and audio pass-through formats. If your TV lacks a compatible HDMI audio connection, check whether the bar and TV share an alternative such as optical.

  • Sonos Beam (Gen 2): Sonos lists HDMI eARC/ARC and Wi-Fi. It has no Bluetooth, according to RTINGS; Trueplay setup requires a supported iOS device.
  • Bose Smart Soundbar: Bose lists Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0. Check its current product page and your TV’s connection options for the configuration you need.
  • Samsung HW-S60D: RTINGS describes Bluetooth, a remote, automatic room correction, and manual EQ controls.
  • Roku Streambar: The integrated Roku streamer can reduce the need for a separate streaming device in a compact TV setup.
  • Yamaha B200A: Yamaha lists HDMI eARC/ARC, optical, AUX, and Bluetooth; confirm current regional specifications and launch status.

Dialogue enhancement and room correction are useful when speech clarity or room placement is a concern, but they are not substitutes for checking physical fit and connection compatibility. Sonos lists speech enhancement and Trueplay; RTINGS describes room correction and manual EQ on the Samsung. For Bose, its suggested 10 × 12-foot room size is a vendor recommendation rather than a measured coverage limit.

When a wider bar may be worth considering

If sound quality and music playback matter more than the smallest footprint, a larger compact-oriented model may be reasonable. In a May 2026 review, TechRadar reviewer Simon Cohen reported using the Bluesound Pulse Cinema Mini for a week in a basement media room and gave a listening assessment; the review reports a width of 33.3 inches, versus 25.6 inches for the Beam (Gen 2) and 27.3 inches for the Bose Smart Soundbar. That makes it substantially wider than the core compact picks, so measure the surface before considering it. Read TechRadar’s review.

What Hi-Fi? also describes the Sony HT-S2000 as fairly compact, with HDMI eARC, Bluetooth 5.2, a 3.1-channel layout, and virtualized height effects. It may suit a buyer willing to accept a wider bar, but verify its precise dimensions against the available surface. What Hi-Fi?’s Dolby Atmos guide covers the model.

A quick way to narrow the shortlist

  1. Measure first. Write down the maximum width, height, and depth available, including clearance for cables, the TV sensor, and wall mounting.
  2. Check the TV’s outputs. Confirm whether it has HDMI ARC/eARC or another compatible output, and whether it can pass through the formats you want.
  3. Choose your priority. Consider the Roku Streambar for a very narrow footprint and integrated streamer, the Beam for a compact expandable system, the Bose for Atmos with up-firing drivers, or the Samsung for room correction and manual adjustment.
  4. Set expectations for bass and scale. If stronger bass or surround is essential, decide whether you can accommodate a separate subwoofer or rear speakers before choosing a bar.
  5. Verify the exact product locally. Check model suffix, regional availability, current connections and dimensions, and total system cost. In particular, verify the Yamaha B200A’s launch status rather than relying only on its announced November 2026 date.
