The best small computer mouse is not necessarily the shortest or lightest one. A compact mouse should fit your hand, grip and work style without forcing your fingers into a cramped position. For laptop and travel use, two useful reference points are the slim Logitech Pebble Mouse 2 M350s and the more substantial Logitech MX Anywhere 3S. Their published dimensions show why a mouse can be portable yet still feel very different in use.
Start with hand measurements and grip preference, then compare width, height, weight, palm support and connection options. The models below are examples rather than a universal ranking; neither manufacturer’s size label can guarantee comfort for every hand.
What “small” means in a computer mouse
“Small” is not a standardized mouse size. Manufacturers use terms such as compact, slim, travel and mini for products with different proportions. Two mice can both be marketed for travel while one is flat and narrow and the other has enough height to support more of the palm.
Logitech’s sizing guidance starts with hand length: measure from the crease below your palm to the tip of your middle finger. Smaller hands generally benefit from reduced width, length and height, but those dimensions are only a starting point. A mouse’s side curvature, button position, hump, thumb rest and surface texture can change how large it feels.
#1 Best Overall
- Compact Mouse: With a comfortable and contoured shape, this Logitech ambidextrous wireless mouse feels great in either right or left hand and is far superior to a touchpad
- Durable and Reliable: This USB wireless mouse features a line-by-line scroll wheel, up to 1 year of battery life (2) thanks to a smart sleep mode function, and comes with the included AA battery
- Universal Compatibility: Your Logitech mouse works with your Windows PC, Mac, or laptop, so no matter what type of computer you own today or buy tomorrow your mouse will be compatible
- Plug and Play Simplicity: Just plug in the tiny nano USB receiver and start working in seconds with a strong, reliable connection to your wireless computer mouse up to 33 feet / 10 m (5)
- Better than touchpad: Get more done by adding M185 to your laptop; according to a recent study, laptop users who chose this mouse over a touchpad were 50% more productive (3) and worked 30% faster (4)
Grip matters just as much. A fingertip grip uses little palm contact and can work with a shorter body. A claw grip needs room for curled fingers and often benefits from a defined rear hump. A palm grip usually feels better with more length and height so the hand is supported instead of hovering over the shell.
Measure your hand before choosing
1. Measure hand length
- Place your hand flat on a desk without stretching your fingers.
- Measure from the main crease where your palm meets your wrist to the end of your middle finger.
- Record the result in millimeters so you can compare it with published mouse dimensions.
This measurement does not produce a guaranteed model match. It helps you reject shapes that are obviously too long or too short before buying.
2. Check width and height, not just length
Width determines how far your thumb and little finger must reach. Height influences how much of your palm is supported. A short mouse can still feel broad, while a narrow mouse can feel tall. Compare all three dimensions together rather than sorting products by length alone.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minute3. Identify your normal grip
- Palm grip: prioritize a taller rear shell and enough length for your palm.
- Claw grip: look for a stable rear section and buttons that remain easy to reach with bent fingers.
- Fingertip grip: a lower, shorter body may be easier to move, provided your fingers do not hang over the front.
If you alternate grips, a middle-ground shape is safer than an extremely flat travel mouse or a very tall ergonomic design.
Compact mouse comparison
The following figures come from the manufacturers. Weights exclude the battery where the manufacturer specifies that condition; the Pebble figure also excludes its receiver.

| Model | Published dimensions | Published weight | Connection | Shape and positioning | Best fit for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Logitech Pebble Mouse 2 M350s | 106.7 × 58.7 × 26.62 mm | 53 g without receiver and battery | Bluetooth Low Energy; compatible with a Logi Bolt receiver, sold separately | Slim, compact, low-profile design | Readers prioritizing a small footprint and easy packing |
| Logitech MX Anywhere 3S | 100.5 × 65 × 34.4 mm | 85 g without battery | Bluetooth Low Energy and Logi Bolt receiver | Compact wireless performance mouse; includes MagSpeed scrolling | Readers wanting a more substantial compact productivity shape |
The comparison shows an important trade-off. The Pebble Mouse 2 M350s is longer but substantially narrower and lower. The MX Anywhere 3S is shorter, wider and taller, and it weighs more. Those differences can matter more than the word “compact” on either product page.
Logitech Pebble Mouse 2 M350s: the flat, travel-focused option
The Pebble Mouse 2 M350s is positioned as a slim, compact Bluetooth mouse. Its low profile makes it easy to slide into a laptop sleeve or small accessory pouch, and its 53-gram published weight keeps the packed setup light.

That same low profile is the main fit question. A flat shell gives your palm less height to rest on than a fuller productivity mouse. Users with small hands or a fingertip grip may appreciate the reduced bulk. Users with larger hands or a palm grip should check whether their palm feels unsupported and whether their fingers reach the buttons without flattening unnaturally.
It uses Bluetooth Low Energy and can also work with a Logi Bolt receiver, but the receiver is not included. If you need a receiver-based setup, add that separate accessory to your requirements and budget. If your computer already has reliable Bluetooth, the mouse can be used without carrying a dongle.
Logitech MX Anywhere 3S: the more substantial compact option
The MX Anywhere 3S is described by Logitech as a compact wireless performance mouse. Its published shell is wider and taller than the Pebble’s, and its listed weight is higher. That gives it a more substantial profile for readers who find very flat travel mice uncomfortable.

- 【Dual Mode Wireless Bluetooth Mouse】: Switch easily between two devices—connect one via Bluetooth (BT5.2/3.0) and the other using a 2.4G USB receiver. No drivers needed; just plug and play. Enjoy a reliable connection up to 33 feet. Note: You can't use both modes simultaneously; the USB receiver is stored in the mouse.
- 【Rechargeable Wireless Mouse】: Equipped with a 500mAh lithium-ion battery, it charges in 2 hours for over 7 days of use and 30 days on standby. The mouse sleeps after 5 minutes of inactivity to save power and can be woken with any click.
- 【Colorful LED Breathing Light】: Features 7 colorful LED lights that change randomly, adding a fun atmosphere to your workspace.
- 【Portable Mouse】Compact size (4.4 x 2.3 x 1.1 inches) makes it easy to fit in your laptop bag. Lightweight and ergonomic, it's perfect for travel. Contact us anytime for support.
- 【Wide Compatibility】: Works with laptops, PCs, tablets, and smartphones across various operating systems, including Android, Windows, and Mac. Ideal for home, office, and travel.
The extra height and width may provide better palm contact for a claw or relaxed palm grip, but they also take more space in a bag. A reader seeking the smallest possible footprint should not assume that the MX Anywhere 3S is the better travel choice simply because its length is shorter.
Quick wins for a faster PC:

Those connection choices can suit a desk setup that moves between Bluetooth devices and receiver-based computers, subject to the exact computer and operating-system requirements for your configuration.
Which shape is likely to suit your hand?
Choose a low-profile mouse when
- Your priority is minimum thickness and easy packing.
- You use a fingertip grip or have a shorter hand.
- You prefer a light mouse that moves easily in a small workspace.
- You are comfortable with limited palm support.
Choose a fuller compact shape when
- Your palm or knuckles feel strained on flat shells.
- You use a palm or claw grip.
- You want a steadier, more substantial feel for long work sessions.
- You accept additional width, height and weight in exchange for support.
These are fit guidelines, not guarantees. A person with a small hand may still prefer a taller shell, while a person with a large hand may prefer a flat fingertip-style mouse. If possible, try the shape in a store or buy from a seller with a clear return policy.
Bluetooth or receiver: decide before buying
Bluetooth Low Energy
Bluetooth keeps the USB ports on a laptop free and is convenient when you move between locations. It also removes the need to carry a receiver. Pairing behavior, supported operating systems and the number of remembered devices can vary by model and computer, so verify the current specifications for your exact setup.
Logi Bolt receiver
A receiver can be useful on computers where Bluetooth is unavailable, restricted or unreliable. It occupies a USB port and must be carried separately unless it remains plugged into your main computer. The Pebble Mouse 2 M350s is compatible with Logi Bolt, but its receiver is not included. The MX Anywhere 3S supports Bluetooth Low Energy and Logi Bolt according to Logitech’s product information.

- Comfortable, Travel-Ready Design: This Bluetooth travel mouse is lightweight and fits in any bag; its contoured, ambidextrous shape is comfortable for both left and right hands

- 12-Month Battery Life: Enjoy a reliable 12-month battery life (1) and auto sleep feature for longer use between battery changes; 1 AA battery included
Do not assume that a receiver supplied with another mouse will work. Check receiver compatibility and whether the required adapter is included with your computer or hub.
Portability is more than weight
Weight affects how noticeable a mouse is in a travel bag, but packed volume can matter just as much. A mouse with a low height may fit beside a charger even if it is slightly longer. A taller mouse may offer better comfort while taking more room in a slim sleeve.
Also account for the connection method. A Bluetooth-only travel setup has no dongle to lose. A receiver-based setup may be more dependable in some environments but adds a small accessory and another failure point. If you use a USB-C-only laptop, check how you will connect a USB receiver through your hub or adapter.
A practical buying process
- Measure your hand length. Keep the result beside the published length, width and height of each candidate.
- Describe your grip. Decide whether your palm, claw or fingertips make the most contact during normal work.
- Set your portability limit. Decide whether minimum thickness, minimum weight or a balance of both matters most.
- Choose your connection. Select Bluetooth, receiver support or both. If a receiver is separate, include it in the plan.
- Check the shape. Look for palm support, thumb clearance, button reach and a rear shell that matches your grip.
- Verify the current listing. Prices, stock, regional model names and compatibility details can change; confirm them with the manufacturer or seller before ordering.
- Plan an exit. Keep the packaging and confirm the return period in case the mouse feels cramped after sustained use.
Common fit problems and what to change
Your fingers hang over the front
The body may be too short for your grip, or you may be using a palm grip on a shape intended for fingertip control. Try a longer or taller shell, or move to a claw grip only if that posture feels natural.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Your palm feels unsupported
A low-profile design may be the cause. Compare a taller compact mouse rather than judging comfort by length alone. The MX Anywhere 3S’s greater height is the relevant difference; its shorter length does not automatically make it smaller in the hand.

- Make a Big Impression on the Quiet: Let your work speak louder than your clicks; Pebble Mouse 2 M350s is a quiet mouse with Silent Touch Technology that removes 90% click noise (3)
Your thumb or little finger feels crowded
Check width and side curvature. A mouse can be short but too wide, or narrow but shaped in a way that pushes your fingers inward. Re-measure the space your hand needs and compare side views, not only top-down photographs.
The mouse feels too heavy for precise movement
Weight is personal. A lighter shell can feel easier to reposition, while a heavier one can feel more planted. Compare the published weights under the same conditions and consider whether you carry the mouse every day.
MacBook and laptop considerations
Both listed models support Bluetooth Low Energy, making them relevant to laptops that provide Bluetooth. No current Mac operating-system compatibility information for every regional SKU, firmware version or feature is stated, so confirm the manufacturer’s current compatibility information for your MacBook before purchase.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteIf you use a receiver, check the ports on your MacBook, dock or hub. A receiver that works on a desktop USB-A port may require an adapter or hub on a USB-C-only laptop. Keep the receiver with the mouse when travelling, or choose Bluetooth to reduce the number of parts in your bag.
Prices, stock and regional availability
No current price, live-stock status or regional SKU information is established here. Those details can change by country, retailer, color and promotion. Treat the published dimensions and connection information as the stable comparison, then verify the price and exact package contents at the time of purchase.
Which small computer mouse should you choose?
Choose the Logitech Pebble Mouse 2 M350s if your first priority is a slim, light and easy-to-pack mouse and you are comfortable with limited palm support. Remember that its compatible Logi Bolt receiver is separate.
Choose the Logitech MX Anywhere 3S if you want a compact mouse with more width and height, prefer a more substantial grip, or need both Bluetooth Low Energy and Logi Bolt support. Its additional size and weight make it less focused on the smallest possible travel footprint.
Neither choice is a universal winner. Measure your hand, identify your grip and compare all three dimensions before deciding. If a mouse already feels too small or uncomfortable—such as the experience described by one individual looking at an MX Anywhere 2s—that personal fit signal matters more than the model’s “compact” label, although one person’s experience is not representative of every buyer.
