There is no official or tested “best” sensitivity number for Metro Redux. The reliable approach is to start near the middle of the available range, tune look and aim sensitivity separately, and then adjust assistance options only after your basic control feels predictable. Turn subtitles on in the controller or gameplay options, and check text language separately from spoken voice language when your edition provides both.

Metro Redux contains the Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light campaigns. Their manuals document similar controller settings, but labels and availability can vary by campaign, console and edition. Confirm which campaign and platform you are using before following a menu instruction.

What “best settings” means in Metro Redux

A good configuration lets you turn the camera without fighting the stick, place the reticle on a distant target without repeated overshoot, and read dialogue without missing story information. Those are practical goals, not publisher benchmarks. The official manuals list the available controls but do not publish a recommended sensitivity value, a standard scale, or a comparative test.

Use three practical axes when evaluating your setup:

#1 Best Overall
Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter | 4Pack Type C Female to A Male Cable Converter for Apple Duo 17 16 15 14 Plus,iWatch Watch 12 11 10,iPad 9 8 Air,Airpods 5 4
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
  • Camera turn speed: how quickly the view rotates while you explore or react to danger.
  • Fine aim control: how easily you can make small reticle movements over a target.
  • Assistance strength: how much aim assist or auto-aim helps keep your aim near a target.

Change one value at a time and test it in both exploration and combat. A setting that feels quick in an empty corridor may be too sensitive when you are trying to make a precise shot.

Which Metro Redux campaign and console are you using?

Before changing anything, identify the campaign from the title screen. Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux are separate campaigns inside the Redux release. The Xbox help documentation describes a Metro Redux console control scheme, while the detailed setting descriptions come from the official manuals for each campaign.

Do not assume that an Xbox control mapping or an older PlayStation manual matches every current platform build. Menu names, the order of options and the number of steps in a sensitivity slider can differ. If an option named below is missing, your edition may expose it under another heading or may not include it.

Controller options documented for both campaigns

Setting Metro 2033 manual Metro: Last Light manual How to use it
Controller presets Three presets Three presets Pick the layout that puts movement, looking and actions where your fingers naturally rest. Test it before changing individual habits.
Overall sensitivity Documented Documented Controls general camera or look speed. Tune this for turning and exploration.
Aim sensitivity Documented Documented Adjusts control while aiming. Set it independently from overall sensitivity.
Aim assist Documented Documented Changes targeting assistance, not the underlying speed of the stick.
Auto-aim border size Not stated Documented In Last Light, controls the area around a target in which auto-aim can engage.
Movement-stick choice Documented Documented Assigns movement to the stick you prefer.
Vibration Documented Documented Set the intensity or turn feedback off if it distracts you or causes discomfort.
Y-axis inversion Documented Documented Reverses up-and-down camera movement. Choose the behavior you already use in other games.
Controller feel Not stated Documented Last Light includes an additional controller-feel option; its exact behavior and labels can depend on the edition.
Button reversal Not stated Documented Last Light lists button reversal. Use it only if the standard layout conflicts with your preferred or accessible arrangement.

“Documented” means the campaign’s manual lists the option; it does not establish a default value or prove that every Redux platform build uses the same wording.

A repeatable sensitivity setup

1. Start from a known baseline

Open the campaign’s options and controller menu. If the game offers a visible low-to-high range, begin around the middle. If it uses named presets rather than a numeric slider, choose the neutral or default-looking choice first. The manuals do not state a universal starting number, so this midpoint is a practical baseline rather than an official recommendation.

2. Tune overall sensitivity for turning

  1. Stand in a safe area where you can look at a doorway, wall edge or other fixed reference.
  2. Move the look stick through a full direction change and try to face the original direction again.
  3. If you repeatedly swing past the reference, lower overall sensitivity one small step.
  4. If turning takes several corrections or feels sluggish when enemies move around you, raise it one small step.
  5. Repeat until a normal stick movement produces a controlled turn without a series of emergency corrections.

Use the smallest available adjustment. Large jumps make it difficult to tell whether a change solved the problem or simply created a new one.

3. Tune aim sensitivity separately

  1. Use a distant, stationary object or target rather than a nearby wall.
  2. Enter the game’s aiming state and move the reticle slowly toward the target.
  3. If the reticle crosses the target before you can stop, reduce aim sensitivity.
  4. If you cannot reach the target without pushing the stick to its limit, increase aim sensitivity slightly.
  5. Test a second target at a different distance before accepting the setting.

Overall sensitivity and aim sensitivity are separate controls in both manuals. Keeping them independent lets you turn quickly while preserving slower, more precise movement when aiming.

Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
  • What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.

4. Decide how much assistance you want

After sensitivity feels manageable, adjust aim assist. Assistance changes how the game helps target movement; it does not make a preferred look speed more or less comfortable. If your reticle is already controllable, lower assistance when you want to make more of your own corrections. If tracking moving enemies is difficult, a stronger assistance setting may reduce the amount of manual correction required.

Metro: Last Light also documents an auto-aim border-size option. A larger border can allow auto-aim to engage when your reticle is farther from a target; a smaller border requires closer placement. Treat this as a separate choice from sensitivity and change it only after you understand how aim assist feels.

5. Verify the setup in two situations

  • Exploration check: turn through doorways, narrow corridors and intersections without repeatedly correcting your view.
  • Combat check: move between a nearer and a farther target, then make a small adjustment for a precise shot.
  • Recovery check: deliberately move past a target and see whether you can return to it smoothly.

If one situation feels good and another does not, adjust the relevant control rather than changing everything. Turning problems point to overall sensitivity; reticle overshoot while aiming points to aim sensitivity or assistance.

Choosing a controller preset and stick layout

Controller presets

Both campaign manuals list three controller presets. Start with the preset that matches the layout you use in other first-person games, because familiar muscle memory reduces accidental presses. Then perform a short check: move, look, crouch or perform another common action, reload if available, and enter the aiming state. If a frequently used action requires an awkward reach, try the next preset instead of compensating with sensitivity changes.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Movement-stick choice

The manuals allow you to choose which stick controls movement. Select the side that feels natural or that accommodates an injury, reduced range of motion or a preferred accessibility arrangement. This changes the physical assignment of movement; it does not alter camera speed. Re-test your preset after changing the stick because the rest of the layout may feel different.

Button reversal and controller feel

Metro: Last Light documents button reversal and controller feel in addition to the common options. Button reversal can help when the standard action arrangement is uncomfortable, while controller feel can affect how the controls respond according to the edition’s implementation. Make one change, then verify movement, aiming and the actions you use most often. The manuals do not define a single ideal feel setting.

Vibration and Y-axis inversion

Vibration

Vibration is a feedback preference rather than an aiming-speed control. Keep it on if impact and weapon feedback help you notice events without looking away from the screen. Reduce it or turn it off if it masks subtle stick movements, distracts you during stealth, or causes hand fatigue. Both manuals document vibration adjustment.

Y-axis inversion

With a normal Y axis, pushing the look stick up moves the view up; with inversion enabled, pushing up moves the view down. Choose the behavior you already use successfully. Test it by looking at a high and low reference before beginning a mission, because changing it mid-session can make every vertical correction feel wrong for several minutes. Both manuals list Y-axis inversion.

Subtitles: turning them on and choosing the language

Enable in-game subtitles

Open the options menu, find the subtitle entry in the gameplay, audio or language area used by your edition, and switch it to ON. The official Metro: Last Light manual states: “Select to turn ON or OFF the in-game subtitles.” The Metro 2033 manual also documents an ON/OFF subtitle option.

If subtitles do not appear, confirm that you changed the in-game subtitle setting rather than a console-wide caption preference. Save or apply the option if the menu provides a separate confirmation, then check it during voiced dialogue.

Text language versus voice language

The Metro 2033 manual lists separate voice-language and text-language settings; text language controls the subtitle language. The Metro: Last Light manual identifies text language as the subtitle-language control. When both controls are available, you can choose one spoken language and a different subtitle language.

  1. Turn subtitles on.
  2. Set Text Language to the language you want to read.
  3. If your edition lists Voice Language separately, choose the spoken language independently.
  4. Return to a dialogue scene and verify that the displayed text matches your selection.

Not every console edition exposes identical language choices. If text-language options are absent, the available languages may be determined by the installed release or console region.

Recommended starting profiles by priority

These profiles are decision frameworks, not tested presets. Use the midpoint method and adjust one setting at a time within each profile.

Priority Overall sensitivity Aim sensitivity Aim assist and auto-aim Other options
Precise aiming Middle, then lower if turning overshoots Below the overall value if small corrections are difficult Start with assistance enabled; reduce it only after reticle control is reliable Use familiar preset, vibration as comfortable, inversion based on prior games
Fast reactions Middle, then raise gradually if turning feels slow Near the overall value unless aiming becomes jumpy Keep assistance at a level that helps track targets without pulling you past them Choose the preset with the least awkward reach for frequent actions
Minimal assistance Set for controlled exploration Lower in small steps for deliberate placement Reduce aim assist; in Last Light, use a smaller auto-aim border if preferred Disable vibration if feedback distracts from visual tracking
Accessibility first Use the speed that requires the fewest corrections Use a value that avoids prolonged stick pressure Choose assistance according to fatigue and control needs Consider movement-stick choice, button reversal and vibration adjustment

The table describes how to reason about each option. It does not claim that a particular slider position is objectively superior.

Common problems and fixes

“The camera spins past everything.”

Lower overall sensitivity one step and retest a full turn. If overshooting happens only while aiming, leave overall sensitivity alone and lower aim sensitivity instead. Check that a preset or controller-feel option has not changed at the same time.

“Turning is too slow, but aiming is accurate.”

Raise overall sensitivity while leaving aim sensitivity unchanged. This preserves your fine aiming behavior and changes only general camera movement.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

“I cannot make small reticle corrections.”

Lower aim sensitivity slightly. If assistance is strong, test a lower assistance setting after sensitivity is comfortable, because assistance can alter how the reticle behaves near a target.

“Aim assist seems to pull me away from my target.”

Reduce aim assist. In Last Light, also try a smaller auto-aim border size if that option appears. Make changes separately so you can identify which control caused the improvement.

“The subtitles are on, but I cannot read them in my language.”

Check text language rather than voice language. In Metro 2033, these are separate settings; Last Light uses text language for subtitle language. If the desired language is not listed, your edition may not include it.

“A setting in this guide is missing.”

Verify the campaign and console first. The manuals establish that the named options exist in their documented versions, but they do not guarantee identical labels or defaults across every Redux build. Look through controller, gameplay and language menus for an equivalent label before assuming the feature is unavailable.

How to keep a setup that works

Write down your chosen values before experimenting. Change only one item, play long enough to encounter both exploration and combat, and record whether the problem was turning, fine aiming or assistance. If a change makes things worse, return to the recorded value instead of resetting every option. Recheck settings after switching campaigns, changing controller presets or installing a different platform edition.

What the official documentation does—and does not—establish

The official manuals establish the presence of separate overall and aim sensitivity controls, controller presets, movement-stick selection, vibration, Y-axis inversion and aim assist. The Last Light manual additionally lists controller feel, button reversal and auto-aim border size. They document subtitle switching, and they identify text language as the subtitle-language control; Metro 2033 also lists a separate voice-language setting.

They do not establish a best numeric sensitivity, a tested ranking of presets, a universal default, or identical menus on every console edition. Any precise value you choose should therefore be treated as your personal calibration, not an official benchmark.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Metro Redux have one official best sensitivity number?

No. The official Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light manuals list sensitivity controls but provide no ideal number, scale recommendation or tested comparison. Start near the middle of the available range and adjust in small steps.

Are Metro 2033 Redux and Last Light Redux settings identical?

They share many options, but Last Light also documents controller feel, button reversal and auto-aim border size. Labels and defaults can vary by campaign, console and edition.

How do I change subtitle language?

Enable subtitles, then change Text Language. In Metro 2033, text language controls subtitles separately from Voice Language; Last Light identifies text language as the subtitle-language control.

Should aim assist be on or off?

Choose based on the help you want. Set basic sensitivity first, then adjust aim assist. In Last Light, auto-aim border size is an additional control over how close your reticle must be before assistance engages.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The Bottom Line

Use the midpoint as a starting point, tune overall and aim sensitivity separately, and adjust assistance only after your reticle feels controllable. Turn subtitles on and set text language independently from voice language where available. Because no official source supplies a universal best number, the most reliable Metro Redux setup is the one you calibrate gradually for your own controller, campaign and console.
