There is no verified “best settings” preset for Metaphor: ReFantazio on Nintendo Switch 2 yet. Nintendo’s US listing gives the edition a November 12, 2026 release date, which is still in the future as of October 13, 2026, and does not confirm any graphics options or performance modes. For now, only the supported play modes—TV, tabletop, and handheld—are confirmed.
What settings are confirmed for the Switch 2 version?
Nintendo’s US product listing confirms that the game supports TV, tabletop, and handheld play. It does not list an in-game graphics menu, a quality or performance toggle, a frame-rate cap, a resolution target, HDR support, or different presets for docked and handheld use. The supported play modes do not, by themselves, establish that the game renders or performs differently in each one.

SEGA announced the Switch 2 version on June 10, 2026, and says the game’s official website is available, but that announcement does not provide a verified settings guide or final-build performance results. Until the released game can be checked, specific recommendations would be speculation.

That has not been confirmed by the official product information cited here. Nintendo’s listing does not say whether the game offers a performance mode, a quality mode, or any frame-rate setting. It also does not establish a frame-rate target or how consistently the final game runs.
#1 Best Overall
- The next evolution of Nintendo Switch
- One system, three play modes: TV, Tabletop, and Handheld
- Larger, vivid, 7.9” LCD touch screen with support for HDR and up to 120 fps
- Dock that supports 4K when connected to a compatible TV*
- GameChat** lets you voice chat, share your game screen, and connect via video chat as you play
A trailer, preview, or apparent difference in footage is not enough to verify an option in the final version. Check the released game’s own settings menu and current patch information before treating any claimed mode as available.
What should you use in handheld or TV mode?
Handheld mode
Handheld play is officially supported, but no handheld-specific preset, resolution, performance result, or battery-life figure for this game is published in the cited sources. Choose a setting only if the final game exposes one, and judge it on image clarity, frame-rate consistency, responsiveness, and battery life rather than assuming a particular option is best.

TV and tabletop modes
TV and tabletop play are also confirmed. Nintendo does not publish a separate docked preset or establish whether either mode looks or runs better than handheld play. Compare the same scene and settings in each mode after release; a difference should be described only when it has been checked in the final game.

A useful settings recommendation needs to identify the software version and the conditions under which it was assessed. Compare any available options using these points:

- Image clarity: Check fine detail and text in motion as well as in still scenes.
- Frame-rate consistency: Look for sustained smoothness during busy combat and exploration, not just a brief impression.
- Responsiveness: Compare how promptly controls react, especially if a setting trades visual quality for performance.
- Battery life: Treat handheld battery results as game- and test-specific; the console’s general estimate is not a prediction for this title.
- Play mode: Record whether the observation applies to handheld, tabletop, or TV mode rather than treating results from one as universal.
Nintendo lists an estimated game file size of 62.1 GB. That figure does not establish that an expansion card is required. If you need extra storage, Nintendo says Switch 2 storage expansion uses microSD Express cards; its console specifications also give an approximate battery-life range of 2–6.5 hours depending on the games played. That is a console-level estimate, not a Metaphor-specific result.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Release date and compatibility context
Nintendo’s US listing names SEGA as publisher and ATLUS as developer, gives November 12, 2026 as the release date, and identifies this as a Switch 2 edition. The date is forthcoming as of October 13, 2026, so a final-game settings guide cannot yet be verified against the released software.
Nintendo’s general Switch and Switch 2 compatibility guidance concerns compatible original Switch software and notes that some titles may not be supported or fully compatible. It does not describe the forthcoming native Switch 2 edition of Metaphor: ReFantazio.
