The best security camera cloud storage is the plan that works with your exact camera, saves footage in the way you need, and keeps it for long enough at a cost you can sustain. There is no universal winner: event clips, continuous recording, camera limits, regional availability, and add-on fees vary by service. The examples below are vendor-published terms, not an independent market ranking; check current details for your country and camera model before subscribing.
Which security camera cloud storage service is best?
Start with your camera ecosystem. A cloud plan generally covers only compatible devices from its provider, and a longer retention period does not necessarily mean more complete coverage. Event history stores recordings triggered by motion or other events; continuous history records video around the clock, subject to camera, power, and plan requirements.

How long are security camera recordings stored in the cloud?
Retention is the period a provider keeps recordings available before they expire. Check whether the advertised period applies to event clips, continuous footage, or both. Google Home Premium Advanced, for example, documents 60 days of event history and 10 days of continuous history; the two windows differ. Ring documents up to 180 days for motion-event videos, while its 24/7 recording feature has separate requirements.

Also check whether the period is a maximum, whether footage is stored on a rolling basis, and whether downloading is required to keep a clip longer. Ring’s 24/7 Recording help advises downloading videos to local storage for retention beyond 14 days in the context of that feature. That guidance should not be confused with Ring’s separate up-to-180-day motion-event retention.
Can I record without a cloud subscription?
Sometimes. eufy says recording can be saved to built-in storage without subscribing to cloud backup, provided the camera supports that storage path. Local recording can avoid a recurring cloud fee, but it is not the same service: available storage, remote access, and what happens if the camera or storage device is damaged depend on the hardware and setup. Verify the exact model’s supported recording options before buying or changing plans.

How to choose a plan for your cameras
- Confirm model compatibility. Look up each camera’s exact model in the provider’s current plan terms. Do not assume every camera from a brand supports every plan feature.
- Choose the recording mode. Decide whether motion-triggered event clips are enough or whether you need continuous recording. Check power and camera requirements for 24/7 coverage.
- Set the retention target. Work out how long you need to review footage, then compare the event-history and continuous-history windows separately.
- Count covered devices and add-ons. Check the plan’s camera limit and the price of any per-camera feature required for continuous recording.
- Compare recurring cost and billing terms. Determine whether a quoted monthly amount is billed monthly or is the monthly equivalent of an annual charge. Include every subscription needed for the features you want.
- Check the country-specific terms. Plan names, prices, retention, and availability can differ by market. Use the provider page for your country and confirm the terms shown for your account and camera.
