The best SCUF Valor Pro setup is a tuned baseline, not a universal number: use wired or low-latency wireless on PC, map paddles to actions that normally leave the aiming stick, enable instant triggers when a game does not need full trigger travel, and set the lowest stick deadzone that does not cause drift. Use the Valor Pro Companion App to save a profile, test one change at a time in a firing range or private match, and keep separate profiles for games or modes with different control demands.
Recommended Valor Pro baseline
Start with the following configuration before making fine adjustments. It reflects the controller’s documented controls and SCUF’s platform guidance, while leaving the values that depend on your individual sticks, game and aim style for in-game tuning.
| Control | Starting choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Connection on PC | Wired or low-latency wireless | SCUF recommends these connection types for PC play; they are preferable when consistent input matters more than convenience. |
| Connection on mobile | Bluetooth | SCUF identifies Bluetooth as the mobile-oriented mode. |
| Rear paddles | Jump, crouch/slide, reload, interact or weapon swap | These actions can then be performed without removing your aiming thumb from the right stick. |
| Trigger mode | Instant/short travel for shooting-focused modes | Shorter travel can make firing feel quicker, but it removes the full analog range required by some vehicle controls. |
| Stick deadzone | Lowest setting that remains drift-free | There is no SCUF-published universal numeric value. Your controller’s wear, game and sensitivity determine the usable minimum. |
| Response curve | Game default first, then one more aggressive option for comparison | A familiar curve gives you a stable reference before you trade smooth micro-adjustments for faster turn-in. |
| Vibration | Off or reduced if it disturbs fine aim | Keep it enabled when its feedback improves awareness; treat it as a preference rather than a performance requirement. |
What the Valor Pro Companion App lets you change
The Valor Pro Companion App exposes the controls that matter most for an FPS profile: input mappings, thumbstick deadzones, trigger deadzones, thumbstick and trigger response curves, vibration and profile-based remapping. This means you can keep a stable general profile and make a separate profile for a game that needs different trigger or stick behavior.
SCUF says every function can be remapped to paddles except the Xbox home button, scroller-wheel clicks and thumbstick directional movements. Plan paddle assignments around actions that are eligible for remapping; a paddle cannot replace those excluded inputs.

Choose the right connection mode
PC: wired or low-latency wireless
SCUF’s support guidance recommends a wired or low-latency wireless connection when playing on PC. Use the mode your setup supports reliably, then avoid changing connection types while diagnosing aim or button issues. A stable connection makes it easier to tell whether a problem comes from a setting rather than from pairing, interference or a cable.
Xbox and other console play
For competitive FPS play, use the platform-supported wired or low-latency path when available. Bluetooth is best reserved for situations where convenience matters more than the most consistent competitive connection.
Mobile: Bluetooth
SCUF identifies Bluetooth for mobile devices. Pair before launching the game, confirm that the game recognizes the controller, and then test the profile in a practice area. If controls feel inconsistent, verify the mobile game’s controller support before changing deadzones or curves.
Create a safe starting profile
- Update and connect the controller using SCUF’s official process.
- Open the Valor Pro Companion App and save a factory-like profile before experimenting. Give it a clear name such as
Valor Pro baseline. - Duplicate that profile for each FPS or control style instead of overwriting the baseline.
- Change one control group at a time, then play a short practice session. This isolates the effect of each adjustment.
- Save the profile only after the same movement, aiming and firing actions feel repeatable across several minutes of play.
A baseline is useful for recovery. If a new curve or deadzone makes the controller feel worse, restore the baseline rather than trying to remember several changes at once.
Map paddles to preserve aim control
The highest-value paddle assignment is the action that you perform frequently while simultaneously aiming. SCUF’s Apex guidance emphasizes keeping the thumb on the stick while moving, reloading and changing weapons. The exact layout depends on your hand position and the game’s button scheme, so add one paddle at a time.
| Action | When it is a strong choice | What to test |
|---|---|---|
| Jump | Games where jumping during gunfights is common | Can you jump without lifting your aiming thumb, and can you still make a controlled correction while airborne? |
| Crouch or slide | Games with frequent crouch, slide or drop-shot movement | Can you activate the action without accidentally pressing it while strafing? |
| Reload | Games where reloading behind cover or during movement is frequent | Can you reload while maintaining the intended aim direction? |
| Interact | Games with doors, pickups, revives or contextual actions | Does the paddle reduce the need to move your thumb during a high-risk interaction? |
| Weapon swap | Games where rapid primary/secondary changes are part of your fights | Can you swap deliberately without triggering it during an evasive movement? |
How to choose your four most useful actions
- List the actions you perform while aiming, not merely the actions you press most often in menus.
- Assign the action that most often causes you to leave the right stick to the first paddle you can reach naturally.
- Assign a movement action, such as jump or crouch/slide, to another paddle if the game rewards movement during gunfights.
- Use the remaining paddles for reload, interact or weapon swap according to your death reports and muscle memory.
- Run a short drill after each assignment. If you press a paddle unintentionally, move that action or adjust your hand position before adding another.
Do not assign the Xbox home button, scroller-wheel clicks or thumbstick directional movements to paddles; SCUF lists those functions as exceptions to its remapping support.

Set instant triggers only when the game supports them
Valor Pro instant triggers use a short throw for fast firing. Short travel is useful for shooting-focused modes, especially when you want the controller to register a shot with less trigger movement. It is not automatically the best choice for every game mechanic.

Call of Duty and similar gunfights
SCUF’s FPS guidance says to turn trigger stops on for Call of Duty unless you plan to use vehicles. Its stated reason is that vehicles require the full trigger motion. The practical rule is simple: use instant triggers in infantry-focused modes, then switch them off for a mode or game that uses the analog range of the trigger for acceleration, braking or another graduated control.
When full trigger travel is safer
- Vehicle sections require a variable throttle or brake rather than an on/off input.
- A game assigns an analog action to the trigger and you need its full range.
- You are accidentally firing because the shorter travel is too sensitive for your grip.
- You need to reproduce the game’s default analog behavior for training or accessibility reasons.
Hair-trigger adjustment
SCUF’s general FPS guidance describes adjusting hair-trigger sensitivity in the game: turn the control until the weapon begins firing, then back it off one turn or to your preferred point. That instruction is presented for SCUF controllers generally. Confirm that the specific Valor Pro control behaves the same way before following a detailed adjustment procedure, and validate the result in a safe firing range rather than in a live match.
Tune stick deadzones without chasing a magic number
The Companion App provides thumbstick deadzone sliders, but SCUF does not publish one universal numeric deadzone that is best for every Valor Pro, player or FPS. A low value preserves more of the stick’s usable movement; a higher value masks unwanted movement at the cost of a small amount of low-range control.
Find the lowest drift-free setting
- Load the game’s practice range or a private match and stop touching the controller.
- Watch the reticle and character for movement. If either moves without input, the current deadzone is too low for that stick or game.
- Raise the relevant stick deadzone slightly in the app, then repeat the no-touch check.
- When the drift stops, make a controlled walk and small aim corrections. If micro-adjustments feel sticky or delayed, reduce the setting one step and test again.
- Keep the lowest value that remains stable during a several-minute session, not merely during a single glance.
Test each stick independently. A movement stick can need a different setting from an aiming stick because drift, hand pressure and the game’s input processing may differ. If drift returns only after the controller warms up or after extended play, choose the lowest value that remains stable for the whole session.

| Symptom | Likely adjustment | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Reticle moves while your thumb is off the stick | Raise the aiming-stick deadzone slightly | The current threshold is not filtering the stick’s resting movement. |
| Character walks without input | Raise the movement-stick deadzone slightly | The movement stick is reporting a nonzero position at rest. |
| Small aim corrections feel unresponsive | Lower the deadzone one step and retest | The threshold may be discarding too much low-range movement. |
| Drift returns after a long session | Use the lowest setting that remains stable for the entire session | A brief startup test did not represent the controller’s sustained behavior. |
Choose a response curve in two passes
The app exposes separate thumbstick and trigger response-curve controls. A response curve changes how physical movement is translated into in-game input; it does not replace the game’s own sensitivity, field of view or aim-assist settings.

Pass one: establish the default
Start with the game’s familiar or default curve. Use it long enough to perform slow tracking, a quick turn and a small target correction. This gives you a reference for judging later changes.
Pass two: compare one aggressive option
After the default feels controllable, compare one more aggressive curve. Keep it only if it improves the movements you actually miss. An aggressive curve may make a quick turn feel more immediate while making tiny corrections less forgiving. If your reticle overshoots close targets, return to the default rather than increasing deadzone to compensate.
Separate thumbstick and trigger decisions
Choose the thumbstick curve based on aiming and movement. Choose the trigger curve based on firing control and any analog trigger mechanics. Changing both at once makes it difficult to identify which change caused a new inconsistency.
Decide whether vibration helps your aim
The Companion App exposes vibration settings, but SCUF does not prescribe one FPS value. Disable or reduce vibration if motor feedback makes fine aim harder, causes your grip to tighten or distracts you during sustained fire. Keep it on when the feedback helps you notice damage, impacts or another event without looking away from the action.
Test vibration during the same drill used for deadzone and curve tuning. A setting that feels comfortable in a menu may become distracting during recoil control or a long tracking sequence.
Apex Legends-specific starting points
SCUF’s Apex Legends guide recommends a 110 FOV, Compact interact prompts and Floating damage numbers. Those are Apex recommendations, not universal Valor Pro settings for every FPS. If you play Apex, use them as a documented starting point and then adjust only when your visibility, interaction speed or target-reading needs justify a change.

For Apex paddle assignments, prioritize jump, crouch/slide, reload and interact or weapon swap according to your movement habits. The purpose is to preserve thumb-on-stick control while you strafe, reposition and manage equipment.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsCall of Duty and Warzone-specific decisions
For Call of Duty modes centered on infantry combat, start with instant triggers and a paddle layout that keeps jump, crouch/slide and reload available while aiming. Turn trigger stops off when a vehicle requires the full analog motion. Because menu labels and mode mechanics can change between releases, verify the trigger behavior in the current game’s practice area before entering a match.
For Warzone, treat the same trigger rule as a starting point rather than a guarantee: infantry-only sessions can use the short setting, while vehicle-heavy sessions may require full travel. Tune the deadzone from the drift-free method above instead of copying a number from another controller.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Repeatable setup workflow
Use this order whenever you create a new profile or move the controller to another FPS.
- Connect and update. Use the supported wired, low-latency wireless or Bluetooth path for your platform, then confirm the game sees the controller.
- Save the baseline. Preserve a factory-like profile before changing mappings, curves or deadzones.
- Set physical mode. Choose instant triggers for shooting-focused play, or full travel when analog trigger control is required.
- Map one paddle. Pick the action that most often pulls your aiming thumb away from the stick and test it in a short drill.
- Add the remaining paddles. Introduce jump, crouch/slide, reload, interact or weapon swap one at a time.
- Find deadzone limits. Start low, check for drift without touching the sticks, and raise only until the movement stops.
- Compare curves. Play the default curve first, then one more aggressive option. Keep the one that preserves controllable micro-adjustments.
- Set vibration. Reduce or disable it if it interferes with fine aim; otherwise retain the feedback that helps your awareness.
- Validate in context. Test tracking, flicks, strafing, reloads, interactions and any vehicles or analog-trigger mechanics used by the game.
- Save and label. Store the profile only after the setup feels repeatable, and name it for the game and mode so you can restore it later.
Troubleshoot before changing everything
The controller drifts
Check that your thumb is fully off the stick, then raise only the affected stick’s deadzone slightly. If the drift disappears but fine movement becomes heavy, test the previous value again in a longer session and look for pressure from your grip or desk surface.
A paddle activates accidentally
Move that action to a paddle with a more natural reach, change your hand position or choose a less frequently triggered function. Do not compensate by changing sensitivity or response curves; those controls cannot solve an accidental physical press.

Aim feels too twitchy after enabling instant triggers
Instant triggers affect trigger travel, not the aiming stick. Check whether your grip changed, whether vibration is distracting you and whether the game’s trigger behavior is appropriate for the mode. If the game uses analog trigger range, switch to full travel.
Small corrections feel delayed
Return the relevant response curve to the game default, then check whether the deadzone is too high. Lower the deadzone one step at a time while monitoring for drift.
Wireless play feels inconsistent
On PC, switch to wired or the supported low-latency wireless mode, confirm the connection is stable and retest before altering aim settings. Bluetooth is intended for mobile convenience and is not the first choice for a latency-sensitive PC session.

- Copying a numeric deadzone from another controller instead of checking for drift on your own sticks.
- Changing deadzone, curve, sensitivity, paddles and trigger mode simultaneously, which prevents useful diagnosis.
- Leaving instant triggers enabled in a vehicle-heavy mode that requires full analog travel.
- Assigning paddles to actions you rarely use while aiming, wasting the main ergonomic advantage.
- Using an Apex-specific recommendation, such as 110 FOV, as though it were a universal setting for every FPS.
- Judging a profile in a menu instead of testing movement, tracking, firing and interactions in a practice range or private match.
- Overwriting the baseline before confirming that the new profile is repeatable.
What is and is not established about performance
The settings above are configuration guidance based on the Valor Pro’s documented controls and SCUF’s support recommendations. No independent laboratory latency measurement or controlled performance test establishes that one profile universally improves aim or response time. Your result depends on stick condition, grip, game sensitivity, display setup, connection stability and practice.
That limitation does not make tuning arbitrary. A drift-free deadzone, a paddle layout that keeps the aiming thumb in place, a trigger mode matched to the game’s mechanics and a stable connection are observable choices you can validate in a repeatable drill.
