Samsung’s closest Pixel Call Screen replacement is Call screening with Call Assist on supported newer Galaxy phones, including the Galaxy S26 documentation. It can answer suspected spam, phishing, or unknown calls, ask who is calling and why, and let you choose whether to answer. On compatible devices, Bixby Text Call provides a different kind of help: an AI voice speaks while you type replies.
Samsung’s Phone app also offers caller ID, spam/scam warnings, and number blocking. However, Samsung documentation does not establish a universal Galaxy equivalent to Pixel’s Hold for Me, which waits on hold and alerts you when a person returns. Availability for every Samsung feature depends on the Galaxy model, One UI version, language, country, and carrier.

If automatic spam triage is your priority, start with a Galaxy model that explicitly lists Call screening or Call Assist in its regional specifications. If you mainly need to handle calls silently, Bixby Text Call may matter more. If you regularly leave customer-service calls on speaker, do not buy a Galaxy assuming it includes a built-in Hold for Me replacement.

Call Screen makes an initial decision for you
Google’s Call Assist behavior is centered on an automated conversation. The assistant asks the caller who they are and why they are calling. When it determines that the call is spam, the phone can hang up; when the call appears legitimate, the phone rings and shows you the caller’s response. That is more than a caller-ID label: the system interacts with the caller before you commit your attention.

Hold for Me waits through hold music
Google describes Hold for Me as a separate Pixel Call Assist function. After you are placed on hold, the phone waits and alerts you when a representative is ready. It is designed to remove the need to listen to repetitive hold audio, not to screen an incoming caller.
Why the distinction matters on Galaxy
A phone can have excellent caller-ID and blocking while still lacking automated conversations or hold-waiting. Compare Samsung features by the job they perform: identifying a number, questioning a caller, letting you type a response, or waiting on hold. Treating all four as “spam protection” leads to the wrong purchase decision.
Samsung Call screening and Call Assist
What the automatic screening does
Samsung’s Galaxy S26 support documentation says automatic screening can handle suspected spam, phishing, or unknown calls. The assistant answers, asks who is calling and why, and then gives you control over what happens next. Depending on the result and the controls exposed on your device, you can decide whether to answer, dismiss, or otherwise handle the call.
This is the Samsung feature most comparable to Pixel Call Screen because the phone can engage an incoming caller before you speak. It is not safe to assume that every Galaxy phone has it: Samsung presents the capability for supported models and software combinations, not as a universal Android feature.

What to check before relying on it
- Model: Confirm that your exact Galaxy model and regional variant lists Call screening or Call Assist. The Galaxy S26 is the clearest documented example in the available Samsung material.
- One UI version: Install the latest software offered for your phone. Feature names and controls can change between One UI releases.
- Language and country: Voice and conversational features may be limited to supported languages and regions.
- Carrier: Some call features can vary with the mobile network or carrier configuration.
- Phone app version: Samsung can expose controls through updates to the Phone app as well as the operating system.
How to enable it when your phone supports it
- Open the Samsung Phone app and open its Settings.
- Look for a section labeled Call Assist, Call screening, or a closely related call-management option. Samsung’s labels can differ by model, software, and region.
- Turn on automatic screening if it is offered, then review any choices for unknown, suspected spam, or phishing calls.
- Read the on-screen explanation of what the assistant says to callers and what information is shown to you.
- Test the behavior with a trusted caller before depending on it for work or time-sensitive calls. Tell the caller to identify themselves and explain the reason for calling so you can see the response screen.
If none of these controls appears, that absence is meaningful: the feature may not be supported for your model, software build, language, country, or carrier. Do not install an unrelated application and assume it provides Samsung’s native Call Assist behavior.
Bixby Text Call: the practical fallback
How Text Call works
Bixby Text Call places an AI voice between you and the caller. You read what the caller says and type responses; the AI voice speaks those responses aloud. This is useful in a meeting, on public transport, in a noisy place, or whenever you cannot or do not want to speak.
Samsung Research describes Bixby Text Call as a text-mediated way to handle an incoming call. Its own comparison distinguishes the use case from Google’s Screen Call: Pixel’s tool is presented mainly as a robocall and spam filter, while Bixby Text Call is intended for situations in which speaking is inconvenient. Samsung Research calls it an innovative solution and notes that Google’s Screen Call was, at the time of that article, its only direct market point of comparison.

- A supported Galaxy device with One UI 5.1 or higher is required according to Samsung Research.
- Language and regional support vary, so One UI 5.1 alone does not guarantee that Text Call will appear.
- Text Call is generally a user-initiated way to handle a call, not a promise that every suspected spam call will be automatically interrogated.
- It is not a Hold for Me function: it does not wait through a customer-service queue and alert you when an agent returns.
How to use Text Call
- Open the Samsung Phone app and go to its call-assistance or Text call settings.
- Enable Text call if the option is available for your model and language.
- When an incoming call arrives, choose the Text call option instead of answering normally.
- Read the live transcription or caller messages, then type the response you want the AI voice to say.
- End Text call and return to a normal conversation if you decide the caller is legitimate and speaking is practical.
Because Text Call is conversational, review each response before sending it. A typed reply can disclose information or sound more definitive than you intended, especially when the caller is asking for account, delivery, or payment details.

Samsung’s caller ID, spam, and blocking controls
What these controls provide
The Samsung Phone app includes caller-ID and spam/scam controls. You can block specific numbers and use the available spam or scam filtering options to reduce unwanted calls. These tools are valuable even on a phone that lacks automatic conversational screening.
How to configure them
- Open Phone, then open Settings.
- Find the caller-ID, spam protection, blocking, or call-assistance section exposed by your device.
- Enable the caller-ID and spam/scam options you are comfortable using.
- Add persistent nuisance numbers to the blocked list from the call log or number settings.
- Periodically review blocked numbers and spam labels so a wrongly identified business or contact does not remain inaccessible.
Menu wording and the available switches are not identical across Galaxy generations. A carrier-branded phone can also show a different set of controls. Use the labels on your own device rather than following a path copied from another country’s support page.
What spam protection cannot guarantee
Caller-ID and blocking are not the same as an assistant that questions callers. A number can be unknown without being malicious, and a scammer can use a number that looks familiar. Samsung’s documentation does not provide a universal spam-blocking accuracy percentage, so no reliable percentage should be used to compare Galaxy protection with Pixel Call Screen.

Which Galaxy should you buy for call screening?
Galaxy S26: the strongest documented match
Choose the Galaxy S26 when automatic screening is the main reason for switching from a Pixel. Samsung’s S26 support documentation specifically describes screening for suspected spam, phishing, and unknown calls, along with Call Assist behavior. Confirm that the listing and software for your country expose the same controls; a feature documented for one regional edition should not be assumed to ship identically everywhere.

Galaxy S25: consider it for Bixby Text Call, not a guaranteed Pixel clone
The Galaxy S25 can be considered when Bixby Text Call is the feature you want, provided your exact device runs a supported One UI version and your language and region are included. Do not describe the S25 as having a universal Pixel Call Screen replacement unless Samsung’s current regional documentation explicitly says so for your model.
Older or lower-tier Galaxy phones
Older Galaxy devices may still offer Samsung’s caller-ID, blocking, or spam controls. They may also support Bixby Text Call after a software update, but Samsung Research’s requirement is One UI 5.1 or newer and feature availability remains model- and region-dependent. Automatic Call Assist screening should be treated as unconfirmed until it appears in the phone’s own settings or official model documentation.

Where call data is processed
The Samsung material summarized here establishes what the features do, but it does not establish one universal processing location for every Galaxy model, language, or carrier. Before enabling conversational call tools, open the privacy information presented in your device’s settings and Samsung’s current terms for your region. Check what audio, transcription, or text may be transmitted, retained, or used to provide the feature.
Language and regional behavior
Voice recognition and AI responses are not guaranteed to work identically across languages. A setting can be present while a preferred language is unsupported, or it can be hidden entirely in a market where the service is unavailable. If you travel, use a foreign SIM, or change your Samsung account region, the visible options may change.

Carrier dependencies
Carrier firmware and network services can alter caller-ID and spam controls. If a support article shows a switch that your unlocked or carrier-branded phone lacks, contact the carrier and Samsung support with your exact model number, One UI version, country, and Phone app version. Those details are more useful than the generic product name alone.
Troubleshooting missing or ineffective call features
The Call screening or Call Assist option is missing
- Install all available One UI and Phone app updates.
- Confirm the exact model and regional variant, not just the Galaxy family name.
- Check the device language and country settings against Samsung’s supported-language information.
- Ask the carrier whether its firmware enables or disables the call-assistance service.
- If the option remains absent, use Samsung’s caller-ID, spam, and blocking controls rather than assuming a hidden switch exists.
Bixby Text Call is unavailable
- Verify that the phone runs One UI 5.1 or newer.
- Check whether your language and country are supported.
- Update Bixby and the Phone app when updates are offered.
- Look in the Phone app’s call-assistance settings, where Samsung may place the control on your model.
- Do not confuse a transcription setting with Text Call; transcription can display speech without giving you a typed-reply voice.
Legitimate calls are filtered or blocked
- Review the blocked-number list and remove contacts that were added accidentally.
- Save important businesses and services in your contacts.
- Use screening to inspect an uncertain call instead of permanently blocking every unknown number.
- Check voicemail and recent-call notifications after changing spam settings.
You expected Hold for Me
Samsung’s documented Call Assist and Text Call functions do not establish a universal hold-waiting feature. If a Galaxy model or carrier advertises a separate service, verify that service independently, including its country availability and terms. Otherwise, plan to remain on the line manually or use the organization’s callback option.
Choosing by use case
You want fewer robocalls without touching the phone
Prioritize a Galaxy model with documented automatic Call screening, such as the Galaxy S26 in the cited Samsung support material. Enable Samsung’s spam and caller-ID controls as a second layer, then test how unknown callers are handled.

Prioritize Bixby Text Call on a supported Galaxy running One UI 5.1 or newer. It is the better fit for meetings, noisy environments, or situations in which typing is preferable to speaking.
You mainly receive recurring nuisance calls
Samsung’s Phone blocking and spam/scam controls may be sufficient. This is a simpler requirement than automatic conversational screening and does not justify paying for a different phone solely on the assumption that every unknown call will be interrogated.
You spend a lot of time in support queues
Neither Samsung Call screening nor Bixby Text Call should be presented as a universal Hold for Me replacement. If automatic hold waiting is essential, verify that capability separately before leaving the Pixel platform.
Bottom line
For Samsung owners, Call screening with Call Assist is the closest documented alternative to Pixel Call Screen, with Galaxy S26 support documentation providing the clearest example. Bixby Text Call is a useful, typed-conversation fallback, while Samsung’s caller-ID, spam, and blocking controls cover routine nuisance calls. Samsung has not documented a universal equivalent to Pixel Hold for Me, so confirm the exact model, One UI release, language, country, and carrier before buying or switching.
