If you own both Ryobi platforms, start with the PCG007 ONE+ 18V/40V Dual Platform Charger. Ryobi says it works with any RYOBI 18V ONE+ or 40V battery, making it the clearest single-charger choice. Owners of only one platform have more focused options: the PCG005 charges two 18V batteries simultaneously, the PCG002 is a basic 18V charger, and the OP406A is Ryobi’s dedicated rapid 40V model.
The key is matching the charger to the battery platform first. Ryobi’s 18V ONE+ and 40V systems are separate product families; never infer compatibility from a charger’s appearance or from a battery’s physical ability to fit. Check the battery label and the charger’s official compatibility statement. Charge-time figures below are Ryobi specifications for named battery capacities, not independent test results.

Choose your battery platform before choosing a charger
18V ONE+ chargers
The PCG005 and PCG002 are presented by Ryobi as 18V ONE+ products. They are appropriate for the 18V ONE+ batteries used in that tool family, but their product pages do not establish 40V compatibility. If your tools use only 18V packs, an 18V charger avoids paying for a platform you do not own.
40V chargers
The OP406A and OP4011A are 40V chargers. Ryobi lists them for 40V batteries, not as general-purpose 18V chargers. A 40V lawn mower, blower or outdoor-power tool therefore needs a charger whose official page expressly supports the 40V system.

Dual-platform chargers
Ryobi explicitly identifies both PCG007 and P137 as compatible with 18V ONE+ and 40V batteries. This is the evidence to rely on when one household has tools from both systems. Do not extend that dual-platform claim to another model merely because its connector looks similar.
Best overall for mixed 18V and 40V ownership: PCG007
The PCG007 is the most straightforward recommendation when you want one charger for both battery families. Ryobi’s product page states, “Compatible with Any RYOBI 18V ONE+ or 40V Battery.” That explicit compatibility is more important than a nominal speed comparison.
What the PCG007 specification means
- 18V example: Ryobi gives a 4Ah 18V ONE+ EDGE battery charge time of 15 minutes.
- 40V example: Ryobi gives a 6Ah 40V battery charge time of one hour.
- Cooling and status: the charger has active cooling and LED indicators.
- Installation: it can be wall mounted, useful when a workbench is crowded.
Those times apply to the named capacities and battery types. A larger or smaller pack, a different battery generation, ambient temperature and the charger’s protection behavior can change the elapsed time. The 15-minute 18V example should not be treated as a promise that every 18V pack charges in 15 minutes, and the one-hour 40V example cannot be compared directly with a 2Ah example from another model.
PCG007 charging versus maintaining
Ryobi describes the PCG007 as charging and maintaining batteries simultaneously. “Maintaining” indicates the charger can keep a connected battery ready after its charge cycle; it is not the same wording as the PCG005 specification, which specifically says it charges two batteries at the same time. If your priority is the number of packs actively charging, read the product wording literally rather than assuming every dual-platform charger has two independent high-speed charging channels.
Best for two 18V batteries at the same time: PCG005
The PCG005 18V ONE+ Dual-Port Simultaneous Charger is the focused choice for an 18V-only workshop that rotates several packs. Ryobi says it “Charges Two Batteries at the Same Time,” and lists compatibility with all RYOBI 18V ONE+ batteries.
Why simultaneous charging matters
A single-port charger processes one battery before the next. With the PCG005, two depleted 18V packs can be connected together, so a pair used on a job can return to service without waiting for the first cycle to finish before the second begins. The published distinction is throughput, not a universal charge-time advantage for each individual battery; Ryobi does not provide a matching capacity-and-time test in the cited product information.

The PCG002 18V ONE+ Charger covers straightforward 18V charging without the dual-port requirement. Ryobi says it can charge a 1.5Ah battery in as little as 45 minutes.
Useful everyday features
- An LED full-charge indicator shows when the connected battery has completed its cycle.
- A six-foot cord gives more placement flexibility than a very short lead.
- The page identifies it as an 18V ONE+ product; it does not establish 40V compatibility.
The 45-minute figure is tied to a 1.5Ah battery and is a manufacturer claim. Higher-capacity packs generally represent more stored energy, but the cited page does not provide a universal time formula, so do not multiply or divide the figure to predict another battery’s exact result.
Best dedicated rapid 40V model: OP406A
For a 40V-only setup where recharge turnaround is the main concern, consider the OP406A 40V Rapid Charger. Ryobi says it charges 40V batteries in one hour or less on average and supports all RYOBI 40V batteries.
Status and temperature information
The OP406A includes indicators for charging status and battery-temperature conditions. A hot or cold indication can explain why a cycle is not proceeding normally: lithium-ion charging may be paused while the pack is outside the charger’s acceptable temperature range. Let the battery return to a suitable indoor temperature and follow the indicator guidance rather than forcing the connection or repeatedly unplugging the charger.

Best compact standard 40V charger: OP4011A
The OP4011A 40V 2A Lithium-Ion Charger is aimed at owners who want a smaller, conventional 40V charger. Ryobi lists it as compatible with any RYOBI 40V battery and says a 2Ah 40V battery can charge in as little as one hour.
Features to weigh
- 2A charging: the model designation identifies its charging rate.
- Compact design: easier to store in a smaller tool cabinet or vehicle kit.
- Energy-save mode: reduces unnecessary power use when the charger is not actively charging.
The OP4011A’s one-hour example is for a 2Ah battery. It is not evidence that the charger is faster or slower than the OP406A, whose published statement uses “one hour or less on average” without naming one matching capacity. Battery size must be aligned before making a speed comparison.
Alternative dual-platform choice: P137
The P137 18V ONE+/40V Dual Platform Charger is another explicitly dual-platform option. Ryobi says indicator lights show status while batteries are simultaneously charged and maintained, and lists compatibility with all RYOBI 18V ONE+ and 40V batteries.
Choose between the P137 and PCG007 by checking the current product pages for the physical design, mounting preference and availability that fit your space. The cited P137 information does not provide a capacity-specific charge time, so it should not be ranked above or below PCG007 on speed.
How the chargers compare on the decisions that matter
Compatibility
Compatibility is the first filter. PCG007 and P137 carry explicit 18V-and-40V statements. PCG005 and PCG002 are 18V products; OP406A and OP4011A are 40V products. Confirm the exact battery family printed on the pack before plugging it in.
Charge duration
Use the battery capacity beside every time claim. PCG007’s examples are 4Ah at 18V in 15 minutes and 6Ah at 40V in one hour. PCG002’s example is 1.5Ah in as little as 45 minutes. OP4011A’s example is 2Ah at 40V in as little as one hour. OP406A states one hour or less on average for 40V batteries without tying that statement to one capacity. These are not a controlled cross-model test.

Number of batteries and sequencing
- PCG005 explicitly charges two 18V batteries at the same time.
- PCG007 is described as charging and maintaining batteries simultaneously across its two platforms.
- P137 is described as simultaneously charging and maintaining batteries.
- The cited PCG002, OP406A and OP4011A pages describe single-platform charging; the supplied specifications do not establish multi-battery simultaneous operation for them.
Indicators and storage
PCG007 offers LED indicators and wall mounting. PCG002 has an LED full-charge indicator and a six-foot cord. OP406A adds charging-status and hot/cold indicators. OP4011A emphasizes compactness and an energy-save mode. P137 uses indicator lights for status. Select the feature that solves your actual storage or monitoring problem instead of treating every LED as a speed feature.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteA practical buying decision tree
- Read your battery label. Mark each pack as 18V ONE+, 40V or another family. Do not assume a charger supports both unless its official page says so.
- Choose mixed-platform or single-platform. If you own both 18V and 40V tools, shortlist PCG007 or P137. If you own one platform, continue with the matching single-platform models.
- For 18V, decide whether parallel charging matters. Pick PCG005 when two packs must charge together; pick PCG002 when one-at-a-time basic charging is sufficient.
- For 40V, decide whether rapid positioning or compact storage matters. OP406A emphasizes rapid charging and temperature/status indicators; OP4011A emphasizes a 2A compact design and energy-save mode.
- Compare only like-for-like time claims. Match voltage, amp-hour capacity and the manufacturer’s stated conditions before calling one charger faster.
- Check current stock and price. Catalog pricing and special-buy status change, so verify the official product page and the retailer listing immediately before purchase.
Safe setup and charging habits
Before connecting a battery
- Inspect the battery and charger for visible damage, contamination or moisture.
- Use the charger with the battery platform named on its official compatibility statement.
- Place the charger on a stable, ventilated surface; use the wall-mount option on PCG007 only with appropriate hardware and a secure mounting point.
- Allow a battery that has just been used heavily to cool before charging if the charger reports a hot condition.
During a cycle
Keep the indicator lights visible, especially with OP406A temperature indicators. Do not cover ventilation openings or place the charger where heat cannot dissipate. If charging pauses because the pack is hot or cold, move it to a moderate indoor environment and reconnect only after it has stabilized.
After charging
Disconnect the battery when your normal workflow is complete, keep contacts clean and store packs according to Ryobi’s battery instructions. The PCG007 and P137 maintenance descriptions mean the chargers can keep connected batteries ready; maintenance is not a reason to mix platforms or ignore an error indicator.
Special case: OP40CSA backpack-power charger
The OP40CSA 40V Integrated Rapid Charger is a specialized component for the OP40BPAVNM backpack power supply. Ryobi’s product information describes a 6A rate and sequential charging when connected to that supply. It is not a general replacement for a standard 40V charger for most tool owners. Consider it only if you already use the compatible backpack power system.
Other models in Ryobi’s charger catalog
Ryobi’s Batteries & Chargers catalog also lists the 18V 8A Rapid Charger PCG008, 18V 6-Port Fast Charger PCG006, 40V Dual Port Rapid Charger OP409A, 40V Fast Charger OP408A and 40V 3-Port Sequential Fast Charger OP407A. The catalog establishes those model names, but the product-page evidence considered here does not provide comparable charge times or feature detail. Treat them as additional models to investigate, not as proven upgrades over the recommendations above.

Common mistakes and fixes
Assuming every Ryobi charger works with every battery
Fix: Use the explicit compatibility statement. PCG007 and P137 are the researched dual-platform models; the others are presented as single-platform chargers.
Best Value
- Voltage: 18V. Capacity: 3.6Ah. Power: 64.8Wh. Type: Lithium-Ion. This replacement for Ryobi 18V battery 3.6Ah provides longer-lasting power for extended work without frequent recharging

- This replacement for Ryobi 18V battery charger Input:100V--240V, Output Volt: 9.6V--18V, P117 Charger charges for Ryobi 9.6v 12v 14.4v 18v NiCad & NiMh & Lithium-Ion batteries
- This replacement for Ryobi battery 18v features built-in protection against overheating, and short circuits for peace of mind during every use, and no memory effect
- Note: Don't charge the replacement for Ryobi 18v battery 3.6Ah immediately after use; allow it to cool for 15–30 minutes before charging. If you have any questions, please contact us through order list
Comparing a 4Ah result with a 2Ah result
Fix: Put capacity beside every number. PCG007’s 15-minute example is for a 4Ah 18V EDGE battery, while OP4011A’s one-hour example is for a 2Ah 40V battery. Different capacities and platforms do not produce a fair speed ranking.
Confusing simultaneous charging with maintenance
Fix: PCG005 explicitly says two batteries charge at the same time. PCG007 and P137 describe simultaneous charging and maintaining. Use the wording that matches your throughput requirement.
Expecting an independent performance verdict
Fix: The published times and compatibility statements in this guide are Ryobi claims. No independent performance test is established for these comparisons, so treat real-world cycle time as dependent on the exact battery, temperature and operating conditions.
Buying based on an old price or stock status
Fix: Verify the current listing at publication or purchase. Ryobi catalog prices, retailer inventory and special-buy status can change.
Bottom line
Buy the PCG007 when one charger must serve both RYOBI 18V ONE+ and 40V batteries. Choose the PCG005 for two-at-once 18V charging, the PCG002 for simple 18V use, the OP406A for a dedicated rapid 40V setup, and the OP4011A when compact 2A 40V charging and energy-save operation matter more than dual-platform flexibility. The P137 is a valid alternative for mixed-platform owners, while OP40CSA belongs to the specialized backpack-power system rather than a general charger kit.
