For a flexible all-round pick, start with Bounty Hunter; choose Smuggler for low-cost solo mobility or Breacher for vault-focused runs. In the Update 1 rankings published by Pro Game Guides on August 22, 2026, those three classes share S tier, while a separate RUNAWAYS Wiki guide recommends different choices by role. Treat this as a dated guide-based ranking, not a permanent or officially verified ordering: class prices and stats can change between patches.

RUNAWAYS Update 1 class tiers

The table reflects the Pro Game Guides Update 1 tier list, updated August 22, 2026. Its author considers damage, survivability, speed, inventory space, starting weapons, breach tools, and the chance of completing a profitable run. The guide describes its rankings as personal impressions rather than fixed or wholly objective facts. The RUNAWAYS Wiki’s separate guide broadly supports the top group but emphasizes role-based choices instead of a single best class.

Tier Classes Best fit according to the guides
S Bounty Hunter, Breacher, Smuggler Broad combat and mobility; vault utility; or budget-friendly solo movement, respectively.
A Juggernaut, Gang Member, Medic Specialized durability, a ready generalist kit, or team support.
B Contractor, Old CEO, Scout More situational picks or choices the guide considers outclassed by alternatives.
C Brawler The lowest-ranked class in that guide’s assessment.

These placements are the cited guide’s judgments, not measured win rates or developer rankings. The sources are secondary guides, and no official developer statement confirming class values or a definitive tier order is established here.

Which S-tier class should you choose?

Smuggler: budget mobility for solo runs

The RUNAWAYS Wiki guide reports a 45k cost, +20% running speed, a Small Backpack, and a Crowbar for Smuggler. Pro Game Guides also ranks it S tier and highlights its value and mobility. That combination makes it the role-focused early solo option in the guides’ recommendations; confirm the current price and kit with the in-game Class NPC before spending.

Bounty Hunter: broad combat and movement

Both guides put Bounty Hunter in the top group. The Wiki guide reports a 300k cost, +20% speed, and a Machete, Pistol, and ammunition. It is the more rounded S-tier suggestion if you want combat tools without choosing specifically for vault access.

Breacher: utility for vault-focused runs

The guides also rank Breacher in S tier. The Wiki guide reports a 550k cost and a kit with C4, a Medium Backpack, a Shotgun, and a +40% melee bonus. It recommends the class for vault runs, where its reported breach utility is more relevant than maximizing movement.

When an A-tier class makes more sense

Juggernaut: durability with a meaningful escape cost

The Wiki guide reports that Juggernaut costs 850k and provides +100% health, armor, a Minigun, and a Medium Backpack, but reduces running speed by 20%. Pro Game Guides places it in A tier. Its durability may suit coordinated crews or border-fight situations, while the speed penalty is a real drawback when a run depends on getting away.

Gang Member: a ready-kit generalist

The Wiki guide describes Gang Member as a mid-price generalist. The available guides place it in A tier, making it a role-dependent alternative for players who value a ready kit over the more specialized solo mobility or vault utility of the S-tier choices. A precise current price or full stat breakdown is not established by the cited material.

  • What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.

Medic: crew sustain

The Wiki guide describes Medic as a support class with healing supplies and +20% health, and recommends it more for crew play than general-purpose solo runs. Its A-tier placement reflects a different kind of value: support for a team rather than the mobility or breach focus of the leading solo options.

How to think about the B- and C-tier choices

Pro Game Guides places Contractor, Old CEO, and Scout in B tier and Brawler in C. The guides’ criticisms include movement or health penalties, limited starting utility, or a nearby alternative that they consider stronger. Those are the authors’ assessments, not evidence of a universal player consensus. If one of these classes fits your preferred playstyle, compare its current in-game kit and cost against the specific role you need rather than treating the tier label as a ban on using it.

Suggested class progression by playstyle

For a solo player

  1. Start with Smuggler if its reported price and mobility make it the attainable option for your run style.
  2. Move to Bounty Hunter when you can afford a broader combat kit while retaining reported speed benefits.
  3. Choose Breacher when vault access becomes the priority for your runs.

This Smuggler → Bounty Hunter → Breacher path is the RUNAWAYS Wiki guide’s suggested solo progression, not a required unlock order.

For a coordinated crew

  • Consider adding Medic when healing support and team sustain matter more than solo pace.
  • Use Gang Member as the guide’s generalist alternative when a ready kit suits the group.
  • Reserve Juggernaut for crews or border-focused work where durability is worth accepting slower movement.

The Wiki guide suggests a crew path that adds Medic or Gang Member, with Juggernaut reserved for border-specialist work.

Check prices and stats before buying

Class cost, bonuses, and kits are volatile: the RUNAWAYS Wiki says its list reflects the Update 1 beta window on 50-player servers and notes that prices and stats have been retuned between patches. It advises checking prices at the in-game Class NPC. The numerical costs and bonuses above are guide-reported values, not independently confirmed current game data; verify them in game before committing currency.
