There is no independently verified single “best” RimWorld Together host in 2026. The best choice is the provider that supports the current standalone RimWorld Together server, lets you manage the required mods and configuration, offers dependable backups and rollback, places the machine near your players, and shows a sustainable renewal price. At the time of writing, the project’s latest listed release is 26.10.4.1 (October 4, 2026), so confirm that version and its server requirements before paying for a plan. Start with the official project repository, check the release notes, and use the September 2026 hosting roundup only as a shortlist rather than proof of current pricing or performance.
Our top pick: Godlike.Host
If you want a managed server, our top pick is Godlike.Host, a game server host that offers RimWorld Together servers. Its Pterodactyl-based game panel gives you SFTP/FTP file access, a task scheduler and sub-users with permissions, and it includes up to three free backups a day with restore. You can choose from 10 data-center locations, reach 24/7 support by live chat or ticket, and upgrade or downgrade from the panel with prorated billing; see the current plans for pricing. RimWorld Together’s code is licensed CC BY-NC-ND 4.0, a NonCommercial licence (github.com/RimWorld-Together/Rimworld-Together, 10 Oct 2026).
What “best RimWorld Together hosting” means
RimWorld Together is a standalone multiplayer server project. It is not simply a setting on an ordinary RimWorld installation, and it should not be confused with another multiplayer mod that uses a different networking model. The project publishes server files and an official container image, allowing a group to run the server on its own Linux or Windows machine or rent a managed game-server plan.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →A managed host charges a recurring fee in exchange for a prepared machine, a control panel, network connectivity, and varying levels of maintenance. Self-hosting avoids a hosting bill but leaves you responsible for installation, port forwarding, operating-system updates, file permissions, monitoring, backups, and recovery. Neither approach is automatically superior. The right decision depends on whether your group values administrative control or an always-available server that somebody else operates.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The project’s README says the server has no heavy hardware dependencies and needs “excellent network bandwith and a bit of everything else.” That describes a relatively modest compute requirement, not a promise that every inexpensive plan will perform well. A congested network, poor routing, inadequate storage, or an unmanaged update can still interrupt a colony.
How to evaluate a managed host
Ask a provider the following questions before ordering. A generic “game server” label is not enough; you need confirmation that its template and panel work with the standalone RimWorld Together server you intend to run.
| Decision area | What to confirm | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| RimWorld Together support | The exact game template, current server release, supported operating system or container, and installation method. | A host may support RimWorld generally while lacking a working RimWorld Together image or file layout. |
| Version updates | Who applies updates, whether you can delay them, how the server version is displayed, and whether you can keep a previous build. | Players must match the server’s release and configuration. Automatic updating without a backup can damage an existing save. |
| Mods and configuration | File-manager access, startup settings, mod-list handling, configuration editing, and the process for synchronizing players. | RimWorld Together sessions depend on a compatible server configuration. A one-click mod tool is useful only if it produces the files the project expects. |
| Backups and recovery | Schedule, retention period, storage location, downloadable copies, self-service restore, support-assisted restore, and rollback before updates. | A backup that cannot be downloaded or restored quickly is not a practical recovery plan. |
| Network and region | Datacenter locations, region changes, network limits, and whether the location is close to most players. | Distance and routing affect connection quality. The project specifically emphasizes bandwidth for hosting. |
| Resources | CPU allocation, RAM, storage type and quota, process limits, and whether resources are shared or dedicated. | No official universal RAM minimum is published; your colony, mod set, and player count determine the real workload. |
| Administration and support | Restart controls, logs, console access, update controls, support hours, and response expectations. | When a save fails or a player cannot connect, clear logs and responsive support reduce downtime. |
| Billing terms | Billing interval, recurring price after any introductory offer, taxes, cancellation rules, refunds, and backup or IP add-on fees. | A low advertised starting price may not represent the renewal cost or the complete plan. |
What is known about the current 2026 release
The official releases page listed RimWorld Together 26.10.4.1, dated October 4, 2026. Use that number as a compatibility checkpoint, not as a permanent recommendation: a newer build may be available when you order. Ask the host which release it installs and how quickly it publishes updates.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
The same release notes say that automatic mod download was still being deployed and receiving updates for different players. Do not assume that every player will automatically receive the server’s complete mod set. Confirm the intended synchronization procedure with the host and with your group, and keep a copy of the server’s configuration so you can reproduce it after a reinstall.

Version changes can affect saves. The project’s release guidance advises backing up before updating an existing save and warns that some older save content may not work after a version change. A provider that advertises automatic updates but cannot restore the pre-update state is a poor fit for a long-running colony.
Hosts named in the September 2026 roundup
A September 27, 2026 comparison from iTechGuides names BisectHosting, GameServerKings, Citadel Servers, Dedicated Minecraft Host, Enzonic Cloud, Gaming Deluxe, GGServers, Server.pro, XGamingServer, and ZAP-Hosting as possible providers. It discusses differences in mod tooling, backups, locations, resource arrangements, and advertised starting prices.
Those figures and feature descriptions come from a secondary editorial roundup, not an independent benchmark or a universally current provider price sheet. Treat the list as a set of pages to investigate. Before checkout, open the provider’s current plan, select the RimWorld Together server type if available, and verify the recurring price, region, backup policy, version support, resource limits, cancellation terms, and support process. Do not choose a host solely because it appears first in a list or advertises the lowest monthly figure.
Managed hosting versus self-hosting
| Factor | Managed plan | Self-hosted server |
|---|---|---|
| Up-front work | Usually an order, region choice, and configuration through a panel; the exact setup depends on the provider. | Download and extract the server or deploy the official container, configure networking, and create persistent storage. |
| Administration | The host maintains the machine and network. You still manage the game files, settings, mods, and save policy unless the plan explicitly includes them. | You manage the operating system, firewall, updates, files, monitoring, and recovery. |
| Availability | Designed to remain online without a player’s personal computer running, subject to the provider’s maintenance and outages. | Depends on your machine, electricity, internet connection, and router. |
| Control | Limited by the panel and provider policies, although file and console access may be available. | Full control over files, containers, scheduling, and network rules. |
| Cost | Recurring fee, potentially with separate charges for extra storage, backups, or locations. | No hosting subscription, but you pay in hardware, electricity, bandwidth, and administration time. |
| Recovery | Convenient only if the plan includes usable, retained backups and a documented restore path. | You must design and test your own backup and off-machine copy process. |
How to self-host RimWorld Together
The official project supports Linux and Windows server setups. Its wiki states that macOS is not supported for the server. The releases page includes Linux and Windows assets, including x64 and ARM variants in the October 2026 release, so select the package that matches your machine rather than assuming that any download will run.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Read the live documentation first. Open the repository and the server-creation guide. Follow the instructions for the current release instead of copying an older tutorial.
- Choose the operating system and architecture. Use a supported Linux or Windows build and confirm whether your processor is x64 or ARM. Keep the downloaded release version recorded in your administration notes.
- Download and extract the server files. The project instructs users to obtain the latest server files and extract them. Avoid privileged or system-protected locations where the process may lack permission to create or modify its data.
- Configure the network. The project’s container example uses port 25555. Whether you use the native files or a container, open only the port and protocol required by the current documentation, configure the host firewall, and forward the port on your router when the machine is behind NAT. Test from outside your local network.
- Create persistent data storage. Keep the server’s world and configuration data on storage that survives a restart or container replacement. In the official container example, the persistent
RWTDatadirectory is mounted into the container. Do not store the only copy inside a disposable container layer. - Use Docker or Podman only if you want a container deployment. The project documents an official container image and says Docker or Podman is required for that method. Containers simplify repeatable deployment, but they do not remove the need to update the image, preserve the data directory, expose the port, and back up the files.
- Start the server and verify logs. Check that the process binds to the expected port, creates its data files, and reports no permission or configuration errors. Keep the initial log output for troubleshooting.
- Join with a test player. The wiki says the first player to join sets up the world. Have the designated administrator join first, create or load the intended world, and verify that another player can connect before inviting the whole group.
- Make a backup before inviting regular players. Copy the save and configuration to a separate disk or machine. Test that the copy can be opened or restored before treating the server as ready.
How much RAM and bandwidth do you need?
No authoritative RimWorld Together document in the cited material sets a universal minimum RAM figure. The project instead describes low hardware dependence and emphasizes excellent network bandwidth. That means a plan advertised with a large RAM number is not automatically better: CPU scheduling, storage latency, network quality, mod complexity, colony size, and concurrent players can all affect stability.
Start with a plan that exposes its assigned or guaranteed resources and lets you monitor memory, CPU, disk, and network use. Increase resources when logs or monitoring show sustained pressure, long save times, process termination, or connection problems. Ask whether the provider can resize the plan without wiping the data directory.
- Prioritize a location near the majority of players rather than choosing a distant region for a small price difference.
- Prefer predictable network capacity and clear traffic limits over an unexplained “unlimited” claim.
- Use fast, reliable storage for saves and backups; a high RAM allowance cannot compensate for failing or saturated storage.
- Keep operating-system and server files separate from the persistent world data when you administer the machine yourself.
Mods, configuration, and player synchronization
Before starting a campaign, write down the server release, mod list, load order if applicable, configuration files, and any launch settings. Give every player the same instructions and keep the canonical copy on the server administrator’s machine or in an access-controlled backup.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsAsk a managed host whether its mod manager edits the actual RimWorld Together files or only supports another RimWorld server type. Confirm how a player obtains missing mods, whether automatic download is enabled for the release you use, and what happens when a mod updates. Since automatic mod download was still rolling out in release 26.10.4.1, plan for manual synchronization if the project’s current notes still require it.

Do not change several variables at once when diagnosing a failure. First test the server with the known-good release and configuration, then add or update one mod at a time. Keep a dated copy before each change so that a failed experiment can be reversed.
Backups, updates, and save protection
Use at least two kinds of backup: a recent local or provider snapshot for quick restoration and a separate downloadable copy that would survive a provider outage or account problem. A useful policy specifies the schedule, retention, naming convention, storage location, and person responsible for checking the copies.
- Stop or quiesce the server according to the current project instructions so the save is not being written during the copy.
- Create a dated backup of the world, configuration, and mod information.
- Download or replicate one copy outside the hosting account.
- Record the current server version and configuration next to the backup.
- Apply the update only after the backup is complete.
- Test the updated server with the administrator first.
- If the save fails or players cannot connect, stop the server and restore the pre-update copy rather than repeatedly overwriting it.
Ask providers how many restore points they retain, whether restoration replaces the whole data directory, whether you can download snapshots, and whether support can roll back a failed update. “Daily backups” is incomplete unless the provider states retention and restore access.

How to compare the real cost
Record the recurring total, not just the promotional first month. Include the billing interval, taxes, storage or backup fees, extra-player charges, dedicated-resource upgrades, location changes, and any setup fee. A plan that costs less initially may be more expensive after renewal or may omit the backups and file access your group needs.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Also check cancellation and refund rules before uploading a valuable colony. Determine when the server is deleted after cancellation, whether you can export all saves and configuration, and whether an unpaid invoice immediately suspends access. Keep your own downloadable backup so a billing mistake does not become permanent data loss.
Which option fits your group?
Choose managed hosting when
- The server should remain online when nobody’s personal computer is running.
- No player wants to maintain a firewall, router, operating system, and backup schedule.
- You need a nearby region, a control panel, and support for restarts or file access.
- The provider confirms the current RimWorld Together release and a tested restore process.
Choose self-hosting when
- You already have a reliable Linux or Windows machine and a stable, well-routed connection.
- You are comfortable with port forwarding, permissions, containers, logs, and updates.
- You need complete control over files, schedules, and backup destinations.
- You can keep an off-machine backup and accept responsibility for downtime.
Troubleshooting common failures
Players cannot connect
Confirm that the server process is running, the configured port matches the current documentation, the host firewall allows it, and the router forwards it to the correct machine. Test from a different network. If the port is reachable but the game rejects the connection, compare the server release and configuration with the player’s installation.
The server starts but the world will not load
Stop making changes and preserve the current files. Check logs for a missing or incompatible mod, a permissions error, or a damaged save. Restore the latest known-good backup to a separate directory first, then test it without overwriting the original evidence.

Do not assume automatic download is available to every player. Compare the server’s mod list and configuration, confirm the release-specific behavior in the official notes, and distribute the required files through the method documented for your version.
An update broke an existing save
Follow the project’s warning about older save content. Stop the updated server, restore the pre-update backup, and decide whether to remain on the previous release until the project or mod authors document a migration path. Never delete the original backup while experimenting.
The host cannot answer version or backup questions
That is a purchasing signal, not merely a support inconvenience. If a provider cannot state which RimWorld Together build it deploys, how updates are controlled, or how a restore works, choose a different plan or self-host with documentation you can inspect.
Bottom line
For 2026, select RimWorld Together hosting by verified compatibility and recoverability, not by an unverified ranking. Confirm support for release 26.10.4.1 or the newer release available when you buy, obtain clear answers about mods and configuration, choose a nearby region, and require backups that you can download and restore before trusting the server with a long-running colony. Self-hosting is a practical alternative on supported Linux or Windows hardware when you can provide excellent network connectivity and manage the complete backup and update process. If you would rather have someone else run the machine, Godlike.Host is our top pick for managed RimWorld Together hosting.
