There is no single best reMarkable 2 case with a pen holder for every owner. If you want the simplest official cover and are comfortable with magnetic Marker storage, choose the reMarkable Book Folio. If you also need a keyboard, choose the Type Folio. For a genuinely dedicated loop, the third-party JetTech and Fintie folios are the clearest matches; MoKo adds a useful stand but uses a less secure elastic loop. The right choice depends on whether pen retention, protection, typing, or a writing stand matters most.
What counts as a reMarkable 2 case with a pen holder?
Case listings often use “pen holder” to describe two different designs. The distinction matters when you carry a reMarkable 2 in a bag.
- Magnetic accommodation: The Marker attaches magnetically to the tablet’s right edge. Official reMarkable folios are designed around this arrangement. The tablet stays in the cover, while the pen remains on its exterior side.
- A dedicated loop or holder: A sewn, elastic, or integrated pocket physically surrounds part of the Marker. This is the feature most shoppers mean when they search for a case with a pen holder.
Those designs are not interchangeable. A magnetic edge is quick to use and keeps the cover slim, but a separate loop can provide more obvious retention when the case is moved around. Conversely, a loop can add bulk, affect how the cover folds, or make the Marker harder to remove one-handed. Decide which behavior you actually want before comparing materials or colors.

| Case | Marker arrangement | Other reported features | Best fit for | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| reMarkable Book Folio | Magnetic placement; no sewn loop established | Official folio with built-in magnets holding the tablet | Owners who want the manufacturer’s fitted cover and magnetic Marker use | Do not treat the magnetic tablet attachment as a dedicated pen loop |
| reMarkable Type Folio | Marker snaps onto the tablet’s right side | Official keyboard cover | People who type on the reMarkable 2 as well as write | It is a keyboard-and-cover system, not a simple loop case |
| JetTech folio | Marker loop on the spine | PU-leather exterior, microfiber interior, magnetic closure | Budget-oriented buyers wanting a visible dedicated loop | Material and fit trade-offs vary by the exact listing |
| Fintie folio | Integrated Marker holder | Slim-fit PU exterior, microfiber interior, hard back panel, magnetic closure, auto sleep/wake | Readers wanting a dedicated holder with more structured protection | Confirm the exact reMarkable 2 variant before ordering |
| MoKo case | Elastic Marker loop | Magnetic attachment; folds into a stand at two angles | People who value hands-free writing or viewing angles | The reported magnetic-only retention is less secure than clip-style systems |
| Lab Tech sleeve | None | Leather slip-sleeve design | Owners who deliberately carry the Marker separately | It does not satisfy the core pen-holder requirement |

Official reMarkable choices
Book Folio: the straightforward magnetic solution
reMarkable describes its Book Folio as a folio designed for reMarkable 2. Built-in magnets hold the tablet in place, and the cover is designed to leave room for the Marker’s magnetic attachment. This is the cleanest option if you want an official fit and do not need a sewn loop.
The Book Folio should therefore be judged as a magnetic system, not as a case with a stitched pen sleeve. The tablet is secured magnetically inside the folio, while the Marker uses the tablet’s own right-side magnetic area. That arrangement minimizes extra parts and keeps access quick, but it does not surround the pen in a fabric or elastic holder.
Type Folio: choose it when typing is part of the job
The Type Folio is also designed specifically for reMarkable 2, but its defining feature is the built-in keyboard. reMarkable says: “Just like our Book Folios, the new Type Folio has been designed to leave room for your Marker. It snaps into place on the right side of your reMarkable.”
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThat makes Type Folio suitable for owners who want one cover for handwriting and keyboard work. It is not the economical answer if your only goal is a loop around the Marker. The extra keyboard hardware changes the weight, bulk, folding behavior, and price category compared with a simple protective folio, so buy it for typing utility rather than pen retention alone.
Third-party cases with a dedicated holder
JetTech: a spine loop in a conventional folio
The roundup describes JetTech as a PU-leather folio with a microfiber interior, magnetic closure, and a Marker-holder loop on the spine. A spine loop is easy to identify and gives the pen a separate physical anchor instead of relying only on the tablet’s magnet.
This layout is attractive for a buyer who closes the folio and wants the Marker to remain attached to the cover itself. The trade-off is that the loop occupies part of the spine area and may alter how the folio folds or sits flat. Check photographs of the exact variant to confirm that the loop’s position works with your preferred hand and carrying orientation.

Fintie: an integrated holder with a structured back
The reported Fintie design combines a slim-fit PU exterior, microfiber interior, hard back panel, magnetic closure, auto sleep/wake, and an integrated Marker holder. The hard panel can appeal to owners who want a more structured shell than a soft sleeve while still keeping a folio profile.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Its auto sleep/wake function is a convenience feature, not a substitute for checking fit. Confirm that the listing explicitly names reMarkable 2, that the holder is included in the selected variant, and that the closure and back panel match the photographs. Product pages sometimes reuse names across device generations, so do not rely on a similar-looking thumbnail alone.
MoKo: stand utility with an elastic loop
The roundup describes a MoKo magnetic case that folds into a stand at two angles and uses an elastic Marker loop. This makes it the most function-led choice among the reported third-party options when you frequently write at a raised angle, read from a desk, or use the tablet for reference.
The elastic loop is a real dedicated holder, but the same guide reports that magnetic-only attachment is less secure than clip systems. If your priority is maximum retention during travel, treat that as a meaningful compromise. If your priority is a built-in stand and quick access to the pen, the compromise may be acceptable. Inspect the loop tension and the way the case closes in the exact listing you intend to buy.
Lab Tech sleeve: a deliberate no-holder exception
The leather Lab Tech slip sleeve is not a pen-holder case. The reported design has no Marker holder, so it only makes sense if you prefer a minimal sleeve and already have a separate method for carrying the pen. Including it in a search for holder cases can lead to an accidental mismatch; use the listing only when the absence of a holder is intentional.
How to choose the right holder design
Choose magnetic placement when speed and slimness matter
- You want the Marker available immediately at the tablet’s right edge.
- You prefer the thinnest official-style arrangement.
- You do not want an elastic band or sewn loop visible on the cover.
- You are buying the Book Folio or Type Folio for their broader official design goals.
Magnetic placement is convenient, but the pen is exposed along the tablet’s edge. Consider how often the closed case will be squeezed between books, placed in a crowded backpack, or carried upside down.

Choose a sewn or integrated loop when retention is the priority
- You want the pen attached to the case even when it is not magnetically aligned with the tablet.
- You frequently carry the folio in a bag and want a visible secondary restraint.
- You accept a little extra material around the spine or cover.
Inspect whether the loop is elastic, fabric, or a rigid integrated holder. A loose loop can allow movement, while a very tight loop can make removal awkward. The product description should identify the holder’s location and construction; if it does not, ask the seller or choose a listing with clear photographs.
Protection, materials, and everyday handling
Exterior and interior materials
PU leather is a coated synthetic material used in the reported JetTech and Fintie folios. Microfiber interiors are described for both models and are intended to provide a softer contact surface than an exposed hard panel. These descriptions establish construction, not long-term durability. Do not infer years of wear, water resistance, or drop performance from the material name alone.
A hard back panel, as reported for Fintie, can add structure around the tablet. A leather slip sleeve, as reported for Lab Tech, prioritizes a simple enclosure instead. Neither description by itself establishes edge coverage, corner reinforcement, or certified impact protection. Look for explicit coverage details in the current listing if those are important to you.
Closures and sleep/wake behavior
JetTech and Fintie are described with magnetic closures. Fintie is also described with auto sleep/wake. A closure keeps the front cover from opening casually, while sleep/wake behavior affects convenience and battery habits. Verify that these features are stated for the exact reMarkable 2 version you select; a seller may show several device variants under one product family.
Bulk and access
A dedicated holder, stand mechanism, hard panel, or keyboard necessarily serves a different purpose from a bare folio. Compare the closed thickness and how far the cover opens, not just the exterior material. A spine loop may be comfortable for right-handed removal but less convenient if you normally hold the tablet from that side. A stand can add folding steps that are worthwhile at a desk but unnecessary for a notebook carried between meetings.
Compatibility checks before ordering
- Confirm the device generation. Select a listing that explicitly says reMarkable 2. reMarkable states that reMarkable 1 and reMarkable 2 folios are dimensionally incompatible.
- Exclude Paper Pro covers. The official Paper Pro Book Folio page states that its folio will not fit reMarkable 2. Similar naming or product photos are not proof of compatibility.
- Read the variant selector. Make sure the holder, stand, closure, and sleep/wake features belong to the selected model rather than to another size shown on the same page.
- Check the holder location. Confirm whether the Marker sits on the spine, an outer edge, or an elastic band. Make sure that location will not interfere with your normal grip.
- Verify what is included. A case listing may show a Marker for illustration. Unless the listing explicitly includes one, assume the pen is not part of the case purchase.
- Review the return policy and regional stock. Third-party listings can change names, availability, and construction. A return option is useful if the delivered cutouts or holder do not match the description.
A practical decision path
Pick the Book Folio if your priority is official fit
Choose Book Folio when you want the manufacturer’s reMarkable 2 fit, magnetic tablet retention, and the normal Marker snap-on arrangement. It is the least complicated decision for owners who do not require a sewn loop.

Pick Type Folio if you will type regularly
Choose Type Folio when keyboard work justifies a larger, more specialized cover. Its Marker accommodation is magnetic, so do not buy it expecting the behavior of an elastic pen sleeve.
Recommended Free Tools
Pick JetTech if you want a straightforward dedicated loop
JetTech is the reported budget-oriented folio with a spine loop. It is the natural starting point when your main requirement is a physical holder and you are comfortable with PU-leather construction.
Pick Fintie if you want a more structured folio
Fintie combines an integrated holder with a hard back panel and auto sleep/wake in the reported design. It suits buyers who want more structure than a simple soft enclosure while staying in a conventional folio format.
Pick MoKo if a stand is worth the retention compromise
MoKo is the reported choice for two-angle stand utility and an elastic loop. Select it when desk positioning matters more than the strongest possible pen restraint, and inspect the exact loop and closure before committing.
Buying and setup checklist
- Write down the device name exactly as shown in your reMarkable account or packaging: reMarkable 2, not reMarkable 1 or Paper Pro.
- Decide whether “pen holder” means a dedicated loop for you or whether magnetic Marker placement is sufficient.
- Measure your carrying conditions qualitatively: open desk use, a lightly packed tote, or a tightly packed backpack each place different demands on retention.
- Check that the cover leaves access to the charging port and does not cover the writing surface when folded back.
- With a loop case, insert and remove the Marker several times after delivery. It should hold the pen without requiring excessive force.
- Close the folio and gently tilt it before putting it in a bag. If the Marker shifts or the cover opens, use the seller’s return process rather than relying on an improvised strap.
- For a stand case, test both angles on your actual writing surface. A stand that is stable on a desk may be less useful on a lap or soft surface.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Confusing a magnetic tablet mount with a pen loop
Official descriptions of the Book Folio focus on magnets that hold the tablet. That does not establish a sewn Marker holder. Read the holder section separately from the tablet-attachment section.

Assuming every reMarkable folio fits every model
Generation compatibility is not cosmetic. reMarkable says its first- and second-generation folios are dimensionally incompatible, and the Paper Pro folio page excludes reMarkable 2. Always select the exact model.

- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Choosing a stand without considering pen security
MoKo’s reported two-angle stand is useful, but its elastic loop and magnetic attachment have a different retention profile from a clip or tightly integrated holder. Decide whether the stand will be used often enough to justify that trade-off.
Relying on old photos or a product family name
Third-party sellers can revise variants while keeping a familiar product name. Match the written specifications, dimensions, photographs, and return terms for the specific listing and region.
Expecting a sleeve to provide a holder
The reported Lab Tech sleeve has no Marker holder. A sleeve can still protect the tablet, but it requires a separate pen-carrying plan.
What the available evidence can—and cannot—tell you
The official reMarkable pages establish intended device fit and the magnetic Marker arrangement for the Book Folio and Type Folio. The JetTech, Fintie, MoKo, and Lab Tech details come from a secondary roundup updated October 3, 2026. Those descriptions are useful for narrowing a shortlist, but they are not independent durability tests.
No current prices, weights, review scores, drop results, or long-term wear results are established here. Merchant prices and stock can change by region and date, so compare the live listing at checkout rather than treating an older figure as a guaranteed cost. The safest conclusion is feature-specific: choose the official folios for official magnetic integration, JetTech or Fintie for a reported dedicated holder, and MoKo when a stand is the deciding feature.
Final recommendation by priority
| Your highest priority | Most suitable direction | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Official fit and simple magnetic use | Book Folio | Designed for reMarkable 2 with built-in magnets and room for the Marker’s side attachment |
| Typing plus protection | Type Folio | Adds a keyboard while retaining the right-side magnetic Marker position |
| A dedicated physical loop | JetTech | Reported spine holder in a conventional folio |
| Dedicated holder with a structured back | Fintie | Reported integrated holder, hard back panel, magnetic closure, and auto sleep/wake |
| Two writing/viewing angles | MoKo | Reported stand function and elastic loop, with less secure retention than clip-style designs |
| Minimal sleeve, separate pen carry | Lab Tech | Reported leather sleeve with no holder |
For most shoppers who specifically typed “case with pen holder,” start with the dedicated-loop choices rather than an official magnetic folio. Choose JetTech when a straightforward spine loop is enough, Fintie when you want a more structured folio, and MoKo only when its stand is genuinely useful. Choose Book Folio or Type Folio when official magnetic integration—or, in the Type Folio’s case, a keyboard—matters more than a sewn holder.
