What is the best Red Dead Redemption 2 server hosting? For almost everyone asking that question, the practical answer is RedM server hosting: a dedicated server for the RedM modification that adds customized multiplayer to Red Dead Redemption 2. Our top pick is Godlike.Host, a game-server host that runs RedM servers on its own Pterodactyl-based panel, with free DDoS protection, up to three free backups a day with restore and 24/7 support. It is not on Cfx.re’s list of authorized RedM hosts (redm.net, 10 Oct 2026). RedM’s official hosting page lists GPORTAL, Shockbyte, Nodecraft and xREALM as hosting partners, and the table below compares them with Godlike.Host. That is a shortlist, not a tested ranking.
No comparable evidence currently establishes one of those hosts as the cheapest, fastest or best-supported choice. Prices, taxes, included slots, hardware allocations, locations, backup terms, support and cancellation rules must be checked on each provider’s live plan page before you buy. This guide gives you the technical requirements, capacity and cost framework needed to make that comparison without confusing RedM with Rockstar’s standard Red Dead Online service.

What RedM hosting actually provides
RedM is a Cfx-powered modification for Red Dead Redemption 2. It lets an operator run a customized dedicated server for roleplay, private sessions, community events and other multiplayer experiences that are not available through the standard Red Dead Online service. A hosting plan supplies the machine, network connection and management interface on which that RedM server runs.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThat distinction matters. Rockstar’s support documentation about Red Dead Online connection failures concerns the commercial online service, not the requirements for a RedM dedicated server. A Red Dead Online troubleshooting port list should not be copied into a RedM installation guide.

The 2026 RedM hosting shortlist
The table starts with Godlike.Host, our top pick, followed by four hosts from RedM’s current official hosting page: GPORTAL, Shockbyte, Nodecraft and xREALM. That page does not publish a side-by-side performance test or a value ranking, and the available evidence does not verify matching plan details for all of them. Treat the list below as a starting point for due diligence.
| Provider | What the official listing establishes | What you still need to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Godlike.Host | It is not on Cfx.re’s list of authorized RedM hosts (redm.net, 10 Oct 2026). Godlike.Host advertises game servers for more than 40 games, a Pterodactyl-based panel with a task scheduler, sub-users and SFTP/FTP access, up to three free backups a day with restore, free DDoS protection, a personal firewall, 10 data-center locations and 24/7 support by live chat or ticket. | Current RedM plan (see the current plans), slots, CPU and memory allocation, which of its locations is closest to your players, and measured latency for your community. |
| GPORTAL | Listed by RedM as a hosting partner. | Current RedM plan price, currency and tax, slots, CPU and memory allocation, locations, backups, support, cancellation and contract terms. |
| Shockbyte | Listed by RedM as a hosting partner. | Current RedM plan price, currency and tax, slots, CPU and memory allocation, locations, backups, support, cancellation and contract terms. |
| Nodecraft | Listed by RedM as a hosting partner. | Current RedM plan price, currency and tax, slots, CPU and memory allocation, locations, backups, support, cancellation and contract terms. |
| xREALM | Listed by RedM as a hosting partner. xREALM advertises one-click deployment, txAdmin integration, automatic updates, DDoS protection, global locations and Tebex integration. | Whether the advertised features are included in the plan you select, plus actual resource limits, backup retention, support response, cancellation rules and measured latency for your players. |
The xREALM and Godlike.Host items in the table are provider claims, not independent measurements. No verified uptime statistic, latency comparison, support benchmark or provider-wide performance result is available here. A responsible 2026 buying decision therefore compares the hosts using the same checklist instead of declaring a universal winner.
How to compare a RedM server host
Copy the same questions into each provider’s current plan page or pre-sales ticket. A low headline price can be misleading if it excludes a required slot tier, taxes, a platform subscription or the resources needed by your scripts.
| Criterion | Why it affects your server | What to record |
|---|---|---|
| Total recurring cost | The rental charge may not be the whole bill. | Monthly price, billing currency, VAT or sales tax, setup fees, required add-ons and any separate Cfx entitlement. |
| Player capacity | Slot count sets the practical ceiling for a session. | Included slots, upgrade increments, maximum available slots and whether slots are shared with another service. |
| CPU allocation | Scripts, AI, physics and persistence can make CPU time the bottleneck. | Dedicated or shared vCPU, processor generation if stated, throttling policy and whether the plan allows upgrades. |
| Memory and storage | Large resource packs and databases need headroom. | RAM, storage type and capacity, database allowance, file-size limits and log-retention rules. |
| Location | Distance to the player community affects latency. | Named data-center regions, available move options and whether the location is fixed for the plan. Do not promise low ping without measurements. |
| Administration | Good tools reduce routine maintenance. | txAdmin availability, one-click deployment, console and file access, scheduled restarts, resource installation and framework templates. |
| Backups and recovery | A failed update or bad script can otherwise erase progress. | Automatic-backup frequency, retention, off-site storage, restore limits, manual download and restore procedure. |
| Network and abuse protection | A reachable public server is exposed to outages and attacks. | DDoS protection scope, mitigation limits, firewall controls, bandwidth policy and incident contact method. |
| Support and cancellation | Roleplay communities need help during updates and incidents. | Support hours and channels, stated response targets, billing cycle, refund policy, cancellation timing and data-export process. |
Ask for written clarification when a plan page says “unlimited” without defining the limit. In particular, confirm whether “unlimited players” means an unthrottled server, an optional upgrade, or simply unlimited invitations while the purchased slot count remains fixed.
Capacity: OneSync Infinity and Element Club
RedM’s official hosting information says the default OneSync Infinity configuration supports up to 48 players. That is a platform-level figure, not a promise that every 48-slot rental has enough CPU, memory or script efficiency to deliver a good experience at that load.
The same official page describes higher-capacity Element Club subscriptions used with OneSync Infinity. Platinum is described as reaching up to 1,024 slots. Those subscriptions are separate from the fee you pay a third-party host.
| Element Club tier | Published price | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Argentum | $15 per month plus VAT | Official price accessed in 2026; verify the live portal and the tier’s slot ceiling and features before purchase. |
| Aurum | $25 per month plus VAT | Official price accessed in 2026; verify the live portal and the tier’s slot ceiling and features before purchase. |
| Platinum | $50 per month plus VAT | Official price accessed in 2026; described as supporting up to 1,024 slots with OneSync Infinity; verify current terms. |
Do not add an Element Club fee automatically to every hosting budget. First determine whether your planned player count requires a higher entitlement, then confirm that the host supports the relevant OneSync configuration. Element Club pricing can change, and VAT depends on your billing location.

Managed hosting or self-hosting?
Managed RedM hosting
A managed service normally gives you a web panel, a continuously running machine and an already configured txAdmin workflow. The provider handles the underlying operating system, data-center network and hardware replacement. You remain responsible for resources, permissions, configuration, moderation and backups unless the plan explicitly includes those tasks.
- Best fit: an operator who wants to launch quickly or does not want to maintain Linux or Windows server infrastructure.
- Advantages: a persistent public endpoint, browser-based controls, easier restarts and less work on operating-system updates.
- Trade-offs: recurring rental cost, provider limits on CPU and storage, and less control than a machine you administer yourself.
Self-hosting on a VPS or personal computer
Self-hosting gives you control over the operating system, files and network, but you must install and maintain the server, configure port forwarding where necessary, apply updates, monitor uptime and secure the machine. A home connection also has to handle sustained upstream traffic and remain online while players are connected.
- Best fit: a technically confident operator running a small private server or learning the platform.
- Advantages: full administrative control and the possibility of using an existing machine.
- Trade-offs: more maintenance, exposure of your network, responsibility for backups and no provider-managed replacement when hardware or connectivity fails.
A June 2026 HostMyGame guide characterizes managed hosting as a web panel with txAdmin configured and continuous operation, while describing self-hosting as requiring installation, port forwarding, updates and uptime management. Those are useful general distinctions, not guarantees about every plan.
Budget ranges for planning
HostMyGame’s June 2026 guide gives indicative, not provider-verified, monthly budgets by community size:
Recommended Free Tools
| Intended use | Indicative monthly range | Player range in the guide |
|---|---|---|
| Private or friends-only server | €10–€14 | 5–12 players |
| Semi-public roleplay server | €14–€22 | 12–24 players |
| Community roleplay server | €20–€40 | 24–64 players |
| Large public server | €35–€70 | 64–128 players |
These figures are planning estimates from that guide, not quotes from the hosts in the shortlist above. Your real total can differ because of country taxes, billing currency, resource usage, a higher slot tier, an Element Club subscription, backups or premium support.
Hardware and network requirements
RedM’s official recommendation is “a x86-64 system running Linux or Windows (7/2008 R2+), decent upstream connectivity and preferably a multi-core processor.” This is a platform recommendation, not a benchmark or a minimum specification for every script pack.
- Architecture: use x86-64 hardware.
- Operating system: Linux or Windows is supported by the cited recommendation. Confirm the host’s image options and current RedM compatibility before deployment.
- Processor: a multi-core CPU is preferred. Ask how much CPU time your plan actually receives rather than relying on core count alone.
- Upstream connection: the server needs dependable outbound capacity for player traffic, resource downloads and administration.
- Memory and storage: size them for your resource pack, database, logs and backups; RedM’s general recommendation does not specify a universal RAM or disk number.
For a public community, select a region close to most players and test during a busy session. A provider’s “global locations” claim, such as the one advertised by xREALM, identifies availability but does not prove a particular latency result.

Setup path for a hosted RedM server
Exact labels vary by provider, so use the host’s current documentation for the final clicks. The following sequence reflects the operational details described by HostMyGame and PineRiver and the normal responsibilities of a managed server operator.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →- Confirm eligibility. The HostMyGame guide says setup requires ownership of Red Dead Redemption 2 and a Cfx.re key. Confirm both requirements in current official documentation before paying.
- Choose a region and capacity. Select the data-center region nearest your community, an initial slot count and enough CPU, memory and storage for your planned resources. Leave headroom for growth rather than buying exactly the expected peak.
- Create or obtain the Cfx license key. Enter the key in the provider panel or txAdmin field specified by the host. Never paste it into a public configuration, forum post or support ticket that does not require it.
- Deploy the server. Use the host’s installer or one-click deployment when offered. Verify the selected RedM build, operating system image and txAdmin access.
- Set the identity and limit. PineRiver’s September 2026 provider guide describes configuring the hostname and maximum slots in its panel. Apply a clear hostname and a slot limit that matches the entitlement and rental plan you purchased.
- Install resources gradually. Add your framework, scripts, maps and database one group at a time. Restart and check the console after each change so a faulty resource is easy to identify.
- Configure administration. Create separate staff permissions, enable scheduled restarts if available, and restrict panel and file access to trusted administrators.
- Make and test a backup. Confirm where automatic backups are stored, how long they remain available and how to restore one. Perform a test restore before your first public launch.
- Run a closed test. Invite a small group to test joining, voice or chat integrations, persistence, scripted jobs, restarts and disconnect recovery. Record CPU, memory and console errors during the test.
- Publish connection information. Share the server address only after firewall rules, permissions, moderation tools and recovery procedures are ready.
Ports: avoid the Red Dead Online mix-up
Rockstar’s support article lists UDP ports 6672, 61455, 61457, 61456 and 61458 for troubleshooting connections to Red Dead Online. That list is not evidence of the ports a RedM server must expose. RedM hosting panels may configure a port automatically, and self-hosted installations use the port specified by the current RedM documentation or your chosen configuration.
Before opening a firewall, read the current RedM and host instructions, open only the required port, and test from an external connection. Do not copy a Red Dead Online port list into a RedM firewall rule simply because both products use the Red Dead Redemption 2 name.

Backups and rollback
Enable the provider’s automatic backups if they are included, but also determine whether you can download a copy. Keep a known-good configuration and resource version so you can roll back after a script update. A backup that cannot be restored is not a recovery plan.
Updates and maintenance windows
Automatic updates can reduce manual work, and xREALM advertises automatic updates as a feature. Ask whether updates are applied immediately, whether they restart the server, and whether you can pin or roll back a build. Schedule changes during a published maintenance window and announce them to players.
Security and permissions
Use unique administrator credentials, least-privilege staff roles and a separate account for billing. Review who can access txAdmin, the file manager, the database and the provider panel. DDoS protection, advertised by xREALM, is useful only when you know its coverage and mitigation limits.
Performance observation
Watch server and script health during a real peak session. Track CPU saturation, memory pressure, resource start errors, database latency and player disconnects. A slot count is a capacity setting, not proof that your particular collection of scripts will perform well at that count.
Optional community monetization
RedM’s official page identifies Tebex as a monetization partner. Tebex can be considered separately if you operate a community store, but it is not a requirement for hosting a server. If a provider advertises Tebex integration, verify what “integration” means: an installed resource, a panel shortcut, payment configuration or support for a specific store workflow.
Set clear rules for digital goods, refunds, moderation and access revocation before accepting money. Confirm current platform terms and local tax obligations independently; neither a hosting rental nor a store integration transfers those responsibilities to you.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Common buying mistakes and fixes
- Mistake: treating the official partner list as a ranking. Fix: request the same price, resource, location and policy details from every shortlisted host.
- Mistake: budgeting only for the rental. Fix: add taxes, slot upgrades, backups, support and any required Element Club tier.
- Mistake: choosing by slot count alone. Fix: verify CPU allocation, memory, storage and script requirements.
- Mistake: assuming a global location means low latency. Fix: select the nearest region and test with representative players.
- Mistake: exposing credentials in configuration files or support chats. Fix: use private secrets, rotate keys after exposure and limit administrator access.
- Mistake: copying Red Dead Online firewall ports. Fix: follow current RedM-specific instructions for the port assigned to your server.
- Mistake: enabling automatic updates without a rollback. Fix: back up the database and resources, then test updates on a private instance.
- Mistake: promising a player capacity your plan does not include. Fix: match the advertised slot limit to the host rental and any applicable Cfx entitlement.
A practical decision process
- Define the community. Write down expected peak players, region, roleplay framework, database size and moderation requirements.
- Separate platform capacity from host capacity. Start with the 48-player default OneSync Infinity figure, then determine whether your plan, scripts and any Element Club tier support a different ceiling.
- Shortlist the hosts. Start with Godlike.Host and the four RedM-listed partners as the candidate pool, not as proof of equal pricing or performance.
- Normalize the quote. Compare the same billing period, taxes, slots, backups, locations and support level.
- Test before committing long term. Use a trial or the shortest practical billing cycle when available, and measure join reliability and peak-session behavior with your own players.
- Document recovery. Do not launch publicly until another trusted administrator can restore a backup and regain panel access.
Our top pick for a RedM server is Godlike.Host: it offers a Pterodactyl-based panel, free DDoS protection, up to three free backups a day with restore, prorated upgrades and downgrades from the panel and 24/7 support, so see the current plans. Still, if one provider’s live plan clearly meets your resource, region, support and recovery requirements at an acceptable total cost, it is the right choice for your community. The available evidence does not justify calling one of GPORTAL, Shockbyte, Nodecraft or xREALM the universal best in 2026.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is RedM the same as Red Dead Online?
No. RedM is a Cfx-powered modification for customized dedicated multiplayer servers, while Red Dead Online is Rockstar’s standard online service. Their support documentation and network requirements should not be treated as interchangeable.
Do I need Element Club to run a RedM server?
Not automatically. RedM describes a default OneSync Infinity capacity of up to 48 players. Element Club tiers are separate subscriptions for higher-capacity configurations; verify the current tier requirements before adding one to your budget.
Can I host RedM from a home PC?
Yes, self-hosting is possible, but you must install and maintain the server, handle network configuration and updates, secure the machine, provide dependable upstream connectivity and manage uptime and backups.
Which RedM host has the lowest latency?
No comparative latency result is established. Choose a data-center region near your players and measure join reliability and in-session behavior with representative users.
