Gran Turismo Sport does not have an official native PC edition. It is a PlayStation 4-exclusive game, and its online services ended on January 31, 2024. If you use it on a computer through remote play, emulation, or another user-created route, the settings below are a practical starting point rather than PC support provided by the game.
For a wheel, begin with moderate force feedback: Max. Torque 3 and Force Feedback Sensitivity 2. For a gamepad, begin with Controller Steering Sensitivity 0. Calibrate the hardware in its driver software first, then change only one setting at a time while driving a repeatable set of corners.
What “Gran Turismo Sport on PC” actually means
Gran Turismo Sport was released as a PlayStation 4-exclusive title. Sony’s official service notice described it as “the PlayStation®4-exclusive software,” and the cited Gran Turismo product material lists PlayStation 4 compatibility. No official native Windows or other PC edition is established by those materials.
Consequently, “on PC” can only describe an indirect arrangement, such as streaming the game from a PlayStation through remote play or using a user-created emulation route. Those arrangements are not the same as native PC support. Their controller detection, latency, button mapping and force-feedback behavior can differ, so treat the values in this guide as a baseline for the game and your hardware, not as a guarantee that every PC route will expose every option.

Gran Turismo Sport’s online services ended at 06:00 UTC on January 31, 2024. The offline portions remain playable for existing owners, but online races, communities and other connected functions are no longer available through the ended service. Your indirect PC setup therefore needs to provide access to the offline game or to whatever locally available content your ownership and route support.
Recommended starting values
Enter these values in the game’s controller or steering-wheel settings before making fine adjustments. They are deliberately conservative: the aim is a controllable first drive, not a claim that one preset is fastest for every car, wheel or player.
| Setting | Starting value | What it is intended to do |
|---|---|---|
| Controller Steering Sensitivity | 0 | Provides the calmest initial response for a thumbstick. Lower values respond more slowly and smoothly; higher values react faster and more sensitively. |
| Force Feedback Max. Torque | 3 | Moderate wheel strength for a belt- or gear-driven wheel. Lower values make the car feel more responsive in hard cornering; higher values make the response duller according to the official manual. |
| Force Feedback Sensitivity | 2 | A middle starting point for steering weight near center. Higher values increase resistance as steering begins; lower values make straight-line steering gentler. |
A 2017 configuration published by FT Game used the same three values. That is a user example, not an official competitive preset or a controlled test. Your wheel’s motor, driver gain, mounting, tyres and the car you drive can all change the result.
How each setting changes the car’s feel
Controller Steering Sensitivity
This option changes how quickly the game turns a digital thumbstick movement into steering input. At the low end, a small movement produces a more gradual response. That gives you more time to correct a slide and makes a controller less twitchy on a straight. The trade-off is slower turn-in: you may need to move the stick farther or earlier for a tight corner.

Increasing sensitivity makes the tyres react sooner to the same stick movement. It can help when the car feels unwilling to turn, but it also magnifies accidental thumb movement. A high value is therefore not automatically better for lap time. Raise it only when the low starting value still feels clearly delayed after you have checked that the stick is calibrated and the indirect PC route is not adding input lag.
Force Feedback Max. Torque
Max. Torque is the main strength control for the wheel’s force-feedback signal. At a lower setting, steering loads are lighter and the wheel can feel more immediately responsive during heavy cornering. At a higher setting, the wheel resists more strongly, but the steering response can feel muted when the signal is near its limit.
Do not confuse a heavier wheel with more information. Excessive strength can hide small changes in grip, make corrections tiring and cause the motor to spend too much time at its output ceiling, a condition commonly called clipping. A moderate value lets you feel weight transfer without treating every kerb or impact as a maximum-force event.

Force Feedback Sensitivity
Sensitivity controls how resistance builds as you begin turning. Higher sensitivity gives the wheel more weight around the first part of the steering movement. That can make turn-in feel decisive, but it can also make the car nervous around center if your hardware or route already has a sharp response. Lower sensitivity softens straight-line steering and the initial movement, which many players find easier to hold on long straights.

Change sensitivity after you have found a sensible overall torque level. Otherwise, you may compensate for an overly strong signal by making the center artificially light, or compensate for a weak signal by adding too much resistance at turn-in.
Set up a racing wheel on an indirect PC route
- Confirm the route and game access. Decide whether the computer is receiving the PlayStation output through remote play or another user-created method. Verify that the route passes steering and pedal inputs instead of assuming that a wheel connected to the PC will be visible to the console software.
- Install the manufacturer’s PC software. For a Thrustmaster wheel, install the current PC drivers and open the Thrustmaster control panel before launching the game route. The control panel is where you can verify that the wheel, pedals and buttons are detected and where supported firmware tools are exposed.
- Calibrate the wheel and pedals. Center the wheel when the driver asks, turn it smoothly through its full range, and press each pedal from zero to its maximum travel. Check that the throttle, brake and clutch return to zero when released. Correct a reversed axis or an offset center in the driver panel rather than trying to hide it with in-game sensitivity.
- Secure the hardware. Tighten the clamps or bolts on a desk, stand or cockpit and leave enough clearance for the pedals. A moving wheel base changes your steering angle from lap to lap, while a sliding brake pedal makes force-feedback tuning meaningless.
- Map inputs in the route and game. Assign steering, throttle, brake, gear selection and the buttons you need for pause, reset and camera functions. If the route presents an Xbox-style or generic controller layer, confirm each assignment by watching the game’s input indicator; a driver panel showing movement does not prove that the game receives the same axis.
- Apply the starting values. Use the moderate torque and sensitivity values in the table. Keep the gamepad steering value separate; it is intended for a thumbstick and should not be used as a substitute for wheel force-feedback tuning.
- Drive a short, repeatable test. Choose several low-speed corners and one faster bend. Notice steering weight at center, the build-up of resistance while turning, kerb impacts and whether the wheel suddenly goes light. Avoid changing multiple controls during this first run.
- Adjust in small increments. Change one setting, drive the same corners again and record what changed. If the wheel is too strong everywhere, reduce Max. Torque. If the center is too heavy or nervous, adjust Force Feedback Sensitivity. If the car still feels slow to respond on a gamepad, change Controller Steering Sensitivity instead of altering wheel strength.
- Save separate profiles. Keep one profile for the wheel and another for a DualShock 4, Xbox-style pad or other controller. The same number can feel completely different across an analogue stick and a physical steering rim.
Logitech G29 and Thrustmaster T-GT II: what is documented
These are sensible names to investigate because the cited Gran Turismo documentation explicitly identifies them in different ways. The Logitech G29 Driving Force is named in the official Gran Turismo steering-wheel manual as a supported steering-wheel controller. Thrustmaster publishes a Gran Turismo Sport mapping for the T-GT II and provides driver, firmware and manual resources for it.
| Comparison point | Logitech G29 Driving Force | Thrustmaster T-GT II |
|---|---|---|
| Gran Turismo documentation | Named by the official Gran Turismo steering-wheel manual as a supported steering-wheel controller. | Thrustmaster publishes a GT Sport mapping and support material. |
| Platform detail established in the cited material | PlayStation steering-wheel support is documented; PC-route behavior is not stated in the cited material. | PC driver and control-panel support is documented; console-specific behavior depends on the route. |
| Force-feedback note for PC | Not stated in the cited material. | Ordinary force feedback works on PC when the documented drivers are used; the proprietary T-DFB effects system does not. |
| Driver and firmware resources | Not stated in the cited material. | Thrustmaster support material links drivers, firmware and manuals. |
| Pedal quality, mounting options, noise and price | Not stated in the cited material. | Not stated in the cited material. |
The table is intentionally limited to established information. It does not establish that either wheel is universally faster, quieter, stronger or better value. Choose based on whether your route recognizes the device, whether you can mount it securely and whether the available driver exposes the controls you need.

Thrustmaster T-GT II on PC: ordinary force feedback versus T-DFB
The T-GT II support material makes an important distinction. With the PC drivers installed, standard force feedback can operate. The proprietary T-DFB effects system is not supported on PC. Do not promise console-specific effects simply because the wheel has a dedicated Gran Turismo-oriented feature set.

For an indirect setup, test the ordinary force-feedback signal first. If steering load, road texture and impacts are present but a named T-DFB effect is absent, that behavior is consistent with the documented PC limitation rather than proof that the wheel is defective. If no force is present at all, return to the driver panel, confirm the correct operating mode and check that the route is passing force-feedback commands.
Tune by symptom instead of chasing a “perfect” number
The wheel feels too heavy everywhere
- Lower Max. Torque by one small step and repeat the same corners.
- Check that the driver’s overall gain is not adding strength on top of the game setting.
- Inspect the mounting: a flexible desk can make normal forces feel abrupt because the base moves.
The wheel goes light or loses detail in hard corners
- Reduce strength rather than immediately increasing it; a signal at its ceiling can feel flat.
- Compare a slow corner with a faster bend. If only the highest-load section goes dull, clipping or excessive gain is more likely than a lack of torque.
- Confirm that the route and driver are not applying a second force-feedback filter.
The steering is nervous around center
- Lower Force Feedback Sensitivity gradually to soften the initial resistance.
- Recheck wheel centering and dead-zone settings in the driver.
- Look for latency in the remote or user-created route before adding more steering resistance.
Turn-in feels too slow
- On a wheel, first verify that the full steering range is calibrated and that the game receives the complete axis.
- On a thumbstick, raise Controller Steering Sensitivity one step at a time. Faster response is less forgiving of small stick movements.
- Do not use a higher gamepad sensitivity to compensate for a wheel that is incorrectly mapped.
Kerbs and bumps are exhausting
- Reduce Max. Torque and test again; a stronger signal is not automatically more realistic.
- Inspect the wheel stand and pedal mount for movement that is amplifying impacts.
- Use a separate profile if another driver in the household prefers a lighter wheel.
Direct-drive wheels require a gentler first pass
The baseline is aimed at common belt- or gear-driven wheels. A direct-drive wheel can produce substantially stronger forces, so begin below the baseline strength when your hardware or driver gain is high. Increase only until the steering communicates cornering load without clipping, pain or fatigue. Keep the game’s torque and the driver’s gain coordinated: raising both at once makes it difficult to identify which control caused a change.
Use wheel telemetry or a force graph if your hardware software provides one. A clean signal that rises and falls through a corner is more useful than a permanently saturated bar. Because the cited Gran Turismo material does not define a universal direct-drive preset, there is no defensible single number for every base, rim and mounting arrangement.

A controller has no physical steering resistance, so the useful question is how quickly the virtual steering reaches the tyres. Start with Controller Steering Sensitivity at the low, smooth value in the table. Drive a familiar sequence of corners, keeping the stick near the same position through each apex.

If the car consistently misses the apex because the virtual steering builds too slowly, increase sensitivity one step and repeat the sequence. If the car darts across the lane when you make tiny corrections, return toward the lower value. Keep the controller profile independent from the wheel profile, and recalibrate a worn or drifting stick before changing sensitivity to mask the fault.
Troubleshooting checklist
The game does not see the wheel
- Confirm the wheel appears and moves correctly in the manufacturer’s control panel.
- Reconnect the wheel before starting the remote-play or user-created route if that route captures devices only during launch.
- Check that the route is using the intended input device instead of a disconnected virtual controller.
Pedals are reversed or stuck at half travel
- Re-run the driver calibration with each pedal released at the starting point.
- Check whether the driver combines pedals into one axis; use separate axes when the game mapping expects them.
- Remove duplicate virtual-controller mappings that may be sending a second, conflicting brake signal.
Buttons work but force feedback does not
- Verify that the PC driver and firmware are installed and that the wheel is in the correct operating mode.
- Test ordinary force feedback in the driver panel before blaming the game route.
- For the T-GT II, remember that standard force feedback is documented on PC but T-DFB effects are not.
The car pulls to one side
- Center and recalibrate the wheel in the driver panel.
- Check for a non-zero steering axis at rest in the game’s input display.
- Inspect the physical mount for a base that has shifted during driving.
Remote play feels delayed
- Separate steering tuning from connection troubleshooting: sensitivity cannot remove network or capture latency.
- Use a wired connection where your route supports it and close competing traffic on the same network.
- After latency is stable, retest the baseline before changing values again.
A practical decision rule
Use the Logitech G29 as a documented Gran Turismo-compatible reference when you want a mainstream supported wheel name. Investigate the Thrustmaster T-GT II when you specifically need its published GT Sport mapping and are comfortable with the PC limitation that excludes T-DFB effects. In either case, compatibility with your indirect PC route and a secure mount matter more than a marketing claim about the fastest wheel.
Start with the conservative values, calibrate outside the game, and make one measured change at a time. That process produces a repeatable setup even though Gran Turismo Sport itself was built for PlayStation 4 rather than PC.
