If you want PvE extraction shooters rather than another match where human players can ambush you, start with The Forever Winter for the closest pure co-op fit, Gray Zone Warfare for a realistic open-world alternative, and Escape from Duckov for a strictly PvE solo experience. Deep Rock Galactic and Helldivers 2 are excellent co-op substitutes when you mainly want teamwork, combat and a successful escape, but their mission structure is not the same as a persistent-loot extraction economy.

ARC Raiders itself is still a multiplayer extraction adventure, and its official site lists a PvE matchmaking-toggle beta for October 13–20, 2026. That is a limited test window, not proof of a permanently PvE-only mode, so check the current mode selection when you play.

Quick answer: which ARC Raiders alternative should you choose?

  1. The Forever Winter is the closest match if you want a co-op survival PvE extraction shooter in a hostile world dominated by machines. It uses a third-person tactical perspective and is in Early Access, so features, balance and performance can change.
  2. Gray Zone Warfare is the realistic, first-person option. Its 42 km² persistent Southeast Asian world supports solo or squad deployment and PvE operations, but the game also includes PvEvP operations. It is therefore PvE-capable rather than permanently free of human opponents, and it remains in Early Access.
  3. Escape from Duckov is the cleanest solo Arc Raiders alternative when your priority is no player-versus-player combat. It is presented as a strictly PvE looting, survival and extraction game, viewed from above rather than through a first- or third-person camera.
  4. Deep Rock Galactic and Helldivers 2 belong on a second list. Both deliver cooperative PvE firefights and the tension of getting out alive, but they are mission-based escape games rather than direct persistent-loot extraction shooters.

What counts as a PvE extraction shooter?

An extraction shooter normally combines a dangerous deployment, valuable items that matter after the mission, an extraction objective and the risk of losing what you carried. In a PvP version, other players create the most unpredictable threat. A PvE extraction shooter replaces that human threat with enemies controlled by the game, environmental pressure or both.

That distinction matters because “no PvP” can describe several different experiences. A game may be strictly PvE in every mode, may offer a PvE playlist alongside PvEvP, or may only borrow the feeling of escaping from a mission without maintaining an extraction-based inventory economy. The recommendations below separate those cases instead of treating every cooperative shooter as interchangeable.

The Forever Winter: best for co-op PvE and machine-threat atmosphere

The Forever Winter is the strongest answer to “games like ARC Raiders without PvP” when you want the extraction format itself, a squad and a world where mechanized threats are the main danger. Its Steam description calls it a “co-op survival PvE extraction shooter set in a bleak, mech-dominated, war-torn world.” That wording directly matches the combination many ARC Raiders players are seeking: cooperative deployment, hostile machines and a reason to leave before the run goes bad.

Why it is the closest structural fit

The game is not merely a cooperative shooter with a final evacuation point. It is described as an extraction shooter, so the deployment-and-return loop is central rather than an occasional mission objective. The war-machine setting also preserves the feeling of scavenging in a world that is dangerous even when no rival player is present. For a group that wants to communicate, divide risk and decide when to extract, this is the most focused recommendation in the list.

What the perspective changes

The Forever Winter is presented as third-person tactical play. That makes it feel different from a first-person shooter such as Gray Zone Warfare and from ARC Raiders if you prefer a first-person viewpoint. Third-person visibility can change how you read cover, corners and squad positioning, so choose it for the atmosphere and PvE structure rather than assuming the gun handling will be identical to ARC Raiders.

Early Access is a material caveat

The Steam listing identifies The Forever Winter as Early Access. Features, balance, content and performance can change while development continues. Treat any current weapon balance, progression expectation or technical experience as a snapshot of the build you install, not a permanent specification. If a particular feature is essential to your group, check the current Steam description and update notes before committing to a long-term co-op routine.

Gray Zone Warfare: best for realistic open-world missions

Gray Zone Warfare is the better choice when your priority is a realistic first-person tactical sandbox rather than a stylized machine-war atmosphere. MADFINGER Games describes it as “a tactical sandbox extraction FPS that elevates the genre with a persistent open world set in a Southeast Asian jungle.” The official description gives the world a stated area of 42 km², making persistent geography a defining part of the experience rather than a collection of disconnected rounds.

How its PvE options work

The game supports PvE and PvEvP operations, with deployment either alone or as a squad. That flexibility makes it useful for players who want a solo Arc Raiders alternative today but may later bring friends into the same setting. It does not, however, satisfy the strictest meaning of “never encounter another player” in every context. Select a PvE operation when you want computer-controlled opposition; the wider game still includes PvEvP operations.

Why the persistent world matters

A persistent open world changes the decision-making compared with a short, self-contained mission. You are evaluating routes, exposure and the value of continuing through a shared geography rather than simply completing a scripted objective and returning to a lobby. The 42 km² figure is the official world-size claim; it should not be read as a guarantee of equal activity or density across every area.

Release and development status

Steam lists Gray Zone Warfare as released on April 30, 2024, and identifies it as Early Access. The date is the storefront release date, not a promise that the game has reached a final version. Early Access means systems, content and performance may evolve. Check the current operation labels and hardware requirements on the store page before deciding whether its tactical first-person approach suits your group.

Escape from Duckov: best for solo, strictly PvE extraction

Escape from Duckov is the cleanest answer for a player who wants to loot, survive and extract without player-versus-player combat. Current reporting describes a strictly PvE loop, while the official site lists distribution through Steam, WeGame, Epic and the Mac App Store. Verify the current storefront edition and build because availability and platform support can change.

The top-down perspective is the defining difference

Duckov is viewed from above, so it is not a first-person or third-person gunplay substitute. The camera gives you a broader view of the immediate space and changes how aiming, movement and cover feel. Choose it when the extraction decisions and solo progression matter more than reproducing ARC Raiders’ presentation.

Why it works for solo players

The game is framed as a solo-friendly, strictly PvE experience: you can concentrate on route planning, loot value and the timing of your extraction without coordinating a squad or worrying about an enemy player entering the same fight. That makes it the safest recommendation for the phrase “solo Arc Raiders alternative,” provided you are comfortable with a top-down format.

What to verify before installation

  • Confirm that your preferred storefront still lists the edition you want: Steam, WeGame, Epic or Mac App Store.
  • Check whether the current build supports your operating system and input setup.
  • Read the latest store description or patch notes if you need certainty about the present PvE rules, because live development can change details.

Deep Rock Galactic and Helldivers 2: extraction-like co-op alternatives

Some readers use “extraction shooter” to mean any cooperative game in which the team fights through danger and reaches an evacuation point. Under that broader definition, Deep Rock Galactic and Helldivers 2 are sensible alternatives. The comparison material treats both as extraction-adjacent: they provide cooperative PvE combat and an escape objective, but they do not map one-to-one onto ARC Raiders’ persistent-loot extraction economy.

Deep Rock Galactic

Choose Deep Rock Galactic if the essential part of the request is a dependable co-op PvE loop. It belongs in this article because it supplies teamwork, combat pressure and the satisfaction of getting out together. It is not presented here as a direct persistent extraction shooter, so do not expect the same long-term loot-risk structure that defines The Forever Winter, Gray Zone Warfare or Escape from Duckov.

Helldivers 2

Helldivers 2 fits the same adjacent category. Its value for an ARC Raiders player is the cooperative combat rhythm and the need to complete an operation before the team can leave. If your priority is a strict no-PvP environment with friends, it can satisfy that social and combat need; if your priority is persistent extraction loot, use it as a companion choice rather than a replacement.

Choose by the experience you actually want

  1. You want the closest pure PvE extraction format: pick The Forever Winter. Accept the third-person view and Early Access caveat.
  2. You want realistic first-person tactics and a large persistent map: pick Gray Zone Warfare. Select PvE operations and remember that PvEvP operations also exist.
  3. You want to play alone with no player PvP: pick Escape from Duckov. Its top-down perspective is the trade-off for the strict PvE focus.
  4. You want a co-op escape objective more than persistent loot: try Deep Rock Galactic or Helldivers 2.
  5. You want to keep playing ARC Raiders during a PvE test: check the official mode selector during the October 13–20, 2026 matchmaking-toggle beta window, then confirm what remains available after the test.

How these games differ from ARC Raiders

ARC Raiders is officially described as “a multiplayer extraction adventure, set in a lethal future earth, ravaged by a mysterious mechanized threat known as ARC.” That establishes the baseline: multiplayer extraction, a future-Earth setting and mechanized enemies. The alternatives divide those ingredients in different ways.

Common mismatches and how to avoid them

“PvE” does not always mean “the whole game has no PvP”

Gray Zone Warfare is the important example. It offers PvE operations, but it also has PvEvP operations. If your requirement is absolute separation from human opponents, remain in the PvE context and verify the current queue description.

“Extraction” does not always mean persistent loot

Deep Rock Galactic and Helldivers 2 can end with a team evacuation, yet the supplied comparison places them outside the direct persistent extraction category. Decide whether losing or preserving carried loot is central to your definition before selecting an adjacent game.

“Like ARC Raiders” does not guarantee the same camera

Perspective is a major dividing line. A first-person player may find Gray Zone Warfare immediately familiar, enjoy The Forever Winter’s third-person tactical view as a change of pace, or reject Duckov’s top-down camera despite its strong solo PvE fit. Treat viewpoint as a selection criterion, not a cosmetic detail.

Early Access changes the value of a recommendation

Both The Forever Winter and Gray Zone Warfare can improve substantially or change direction as development continues. Read the current store information and update notes, especially if you are buying for a group that expects stable features or predictable performance.

Bottom line by player type

  • Pure co-op extraction fans: The Forever Winter.
  • Realistic open-world tactical players: Gray Zone Warfare, using its PvE operations when you want to avoid PvP.
  • Solo players who require strict PvE: Escape from Duckov.
  • Teams that mainly want cooperative combat and an evacuation finish: Deep Rock Galactic or Helldivers 2.
