Escape From Duckov is the best match if you want a true extraction loop without human opponents: it is a single-player PvE survival RPG built around scavenging, upgrading a hideout and extracting before a failed run costs your haul. For a group, Deep Rock Galactic is the strongest choice, replacing rival players with cooperative cave missions, class roles and alien hordes. The Forever Winter is worth watching, but its current release details need verification. Games such as Level Zero: Extraction and GROUND BRANCH are poor fits if avoiding PvP is the priority.
What counts as a low-PvP extraction game?
“Extraction game” can mean two different things. In the strict sense, you enter a dangerous raid, collect resources or equipment, decide when to leave, and risk losing what you carried if you die. In the broader sense, a mission may simply ask you to gather valuable materials and reach an extraction point while enemies close in.
That distinction matters when choosing a PvE alternative. A game can remove human opponents yet still deliver the tension of an extraction run, or it can borrow only the return-home objective while using a conventional mission and progression system. The recommendations below separate those experiences instead of treating every game with an extraction button as a Tarkov-style raid.

- Combat pressure: How much of the challenge comes from enemy AI, procedural layouts and time pressure?
Quick comparison
| Game | PvP exposure | Players | Extraction fit | Persistent progression | Best match |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Escape From Duckov | Steam lists it as PvE and single-player | Solo | Literal scavenging, raid haul and extraction; a failed run can cost the haul | Hideout building, gear upgrades, blueprints, skill trees and quests | Players who want the closest solo substitute for a PvP extraction shooter |
| Deep Rock Galactic | PvP is not part of the core co-op mission loop | 1–4 players | Extraction-style: mine resources, complete objectives and get the crew home | Four classes and ongoing content support replayable builds and missions | Friends who prefer teamwork and repeatable PvE combat to raid inventories |
| The Forever Winter | Described in secondary coverage as PvE co-op; current official details were not accessible | Not established from the accessible official information | Reported as an extraction shooter, but current rules need verification | Not established | A watchlist option for bleak, co-op war-zone PvE |
| Level Zero: Extraction | Built around asymmetrical PvPvE, rival mercenaries and online PvP | Co-op and online multiplayer | Literal extraction format, but not low-PvP | Not needed for this recommendation | Only if you want horror extraction with human enemies |
| GROUND BRANCH | Steam lists single-player, online co-op and online PvP | Solo or co-op | Not presented as an extraction game in its official description | Not established as an extraction progression system | A tactical-shooter alternative when extraction is optional |
The table shows why there is no single universal winner. Duckov delivers the most faithful solo extraction structure. Deep Rock Galactic is the better social game, but its return-home loop should not be confused with a persistent stash in which every raid item is at risk.

1. Escape From Duckov: best solo PvE extraction game
Why it is the closest fit
Steam describes Escape From Duckov as a “PVE indie survival RPG” and lists single-player features. Developed by Team Soda and published by bilibili, it released on October 16, 2025. Its central loop is straightforward: enter a map, search for useful supplies, fight hostile ducks and other threats, improve your equipment and hideout, then extract before the run ends badly.
The important detail for PvP-averse players is that the pressure comes from the environment and the game’s enemies rather than from rival human squads. You still have to make the same uncomfortable decisions that define an extraction game: keep searching for a better item, return to safety now, or risk a longer route for a blueprint or upgrade material.
What you do between raids
- Scavenge resources: Search the current map for materials and equipment instead of relying only on a linear mission reward.
- Build a hideout: Use the return phase to expand the base that supports future runs.
- Upgrade gear: Improve the equipment available for later expeditions.
- Follow quests and blueprints: Persistent objectives give a reason to revisit areas and change what you prioritize in your inventory.
- Develop skills: Skill trees add a longer progression path than simply replacing a weapon after death.
Scale and content
The Steam listing advertises five unique maps, changing loot and weather, more than 50 weapons, and “50+ hours of content for a single playthrough.” Those figures describe the store listing’s stated scope; they are not a guarantee that every player will spend exactly that amount of time or that future updates will preserve the same content count.
Five maps can support a learning curve in which you recognize routes and dangers while still having reasons to return. Changing loot and weather keep a familiar location from becoming a completely solved checklist. The weapon count and skill trees also let you shape a run around the equipment you have developed rather than treating every mission as a disposable attempt.
How failure changes the decision-making
Duckov’s extraction tension comes from the possibility of losing the haul from a run. The safest route is rarely the most profitable one: staying longer can produce better resources, but it exposes you to more enemy encounters and a greater chance that the items you carried in will not make it back out. Because the game is single-player, you can learn that risk at your own pace without another player ambushing you at the exit.

Who should choose it
- Choose Duckov if you play alone and want an actual raid, inventory and extraction rhythm.
- Choose it if base building and skill progression matter as much as shooting.
- Choose it if a stylized, cartoon duck setting is more appealing than a militaristic survival game.
What to know before buying
The cited listing establishes a digital PC game with single-player support. It does not establish a physical retail edition, so do not assume a boxed console or physical PC version exists. The game’s playful presentation also does not remove the underlying loss-and-recovery loop: you still need to decide when a run is valuable enough to end.
2. Deep Rock Galactic: best co-op PvE extraction-style game
Why a squad should start here
Deep Rock Galactic is a 1–4-player co-op FPS released on May 13, 2020 by Ghost Ship Games and Coffee Stain Publishing. Its missions send dwarven miners into procedurally generated, fully destructible caves to mine minerals, complete objectives, reach extraction and survive alien hordes. The official listing identifies four classes, 11 biomes and more than 50 enemy types.

There is no rival-player firefight at the center of those missions. Your squad’s attention goes to navigation, resource collection, terrain manipulation and controlling waves of enemies. That makes it the strongest recommendation for a group that wants extraction pressure without being repeatedly eliminated by other players.
How the four-player structure works
The 1–4-player range supports both a full squad and a smaller group. The four classes create natural role differences, so a team can approach a cave as a collection of complementary tools rather than four identical soldiers. One player may focus on traversal, another on clearing enemies, while the rest mine or handle mission objectives; the exact division depends on the class builds and the cave layout.
Why procedural caves matter
Each mission takes place in a procedurally generated cave system, and the environments are fully destructible. You are not simply memorizing a fixed corridor to the extraction point. A blocked tunnel, a vertical drop or a swarm can force the team to create a new route while carrying the resources already collected. The cave itself therefore supplies much of the uncertainty that human opponents provide in a PvP extraction game.

Enemy variety and combat pressure
The listing names more than 50 enemy types across 11 biomes. That variety changes the problem from “watch the doorway for enemy players” to “understand what this cave and wave are demanding from the team.” Alien hordes can interrupt mining, split the squad and make a late extraction dangerous even when the original objective is complete.

Deep Rock Galactic has an extraction feeling because the crew must return with mined resources and survive the trip home. It is not presented as a Tarkov-style stash-and-lose-everything shooter. If your ideal game requires selecting every item from a raid, storing it in a personal hideout and losing that inventory on death, Duckov is the closer match. If you want the drama of a successful escape, class synergy and repeatable co-op missions, Deep Rock Galactic is the better fit.
Long-term value
The official page says the game has received six seasons of additional content for free. That gives a returning squad more than a short campaign of cave runs, although the listing does not promise a particular amount of future content. Its replay value comes from combining classes, biomes, procedural layouts and enemy types in different mission situations.
Who should choose it
- Choose Deep Rock Galactic when your priority is playing with friends rather than playing alone.
- Choose it when you enjoy class roles, destructible environments and fighting coordinated enemy waves.
- Choose it when an extraction-style return-home objective is enough and you do not need a literal raid economy.
3. The Forever Winter: promising, but verify its current state
What is known
Secondary coverage describes The Forever Winter as a co-op survival PvE extraction shooter set in a bleak, mech-dominated war zone. That premise directly targets players who want a hostile world, squad play and extraction pressure without making rival players the main threat.
What is not established
The official store page was inaccessible when these details were checked. Current release status, solo support, pricing and the exact extraction rules therefore remain unresolved. Those are not minor omissions: they determine whether the game is available now, whether a lone player can enjoy it, and whether its missions really use the risk-and-reward structure you expect from an extraction game.

How to evaluate it before starting
- Check the current official store page for release status and supported platforms.
- Confirm whether solo play is supported or whether a squad is required.
- Look for a current explanation of what is lost after death or a failed extraction.
- Verify that recent updates still describe the game as PvE co-op rather than adding mandatory PvP systems.
Until those points are confirmed, treat The Forever Winter as a candidate to monitor, not a firm recommendation alongside Duckov and Deep Rock Galactic.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Games that do not meet the “less PvP” requirement
Level Zero: Extraction
Level Zero: Extraction is explicitly described on Steam as asymmetrical PvPvE multiplayer. Its matches include rival mercenaries as well as alien monsters, and the listing includes online PvP and co-op. That can make it an appealing horror extraction game for players who want human mind games, but it fails the central requirement here: avoiding repeated fights with other players.
Do not select it merely because it contains “PvE” in the description. In PvPvE, the AI threat and the human threat are both part of the intended match structure. There is no evidence in the cited listing that PvP can be removed to create a reliably low-PvP mode.
GROUND BRANCH
GROUND BRANCH is a broader tactical option. Steam lists single-player, online co-op and online PvP, but its official description does not present it as an extraction-focused game. It may satisfy a desire for deliberate tactical shooting, yet it does not answer the specific combination of persistent extraction tension and low PvP as directly as Duckov or Deep Rock Galactic.
Pick it only when your first priority is tactical, single-player or cooperative gunplay and extraction is optional. If your first priority is the raid-and-return loop, it is the wrong category.

Choosing between the two strongest options
Pick Escape From Duckov when…
- You normally play alone.
- You want a literal scavenging run with a haul that can be lost.
- You enjoy hideout construction, quests, blueprints and skill trees.
- You prefer a stylized setting over a conventional military presentation.
- You want to control the pace and make risk decisions without a human opponent changing the plan.
Pick Deep Rock Galactic when…
- You have one to three friends who will form a regular squad.
- You prefer cooperative class roles to personal inventory management.
- You want procedurally generated, destructible environments.
- You enjoy fighting large numbers of AI enemies across different biomes.
- You are satisfied with an extraction-style return-home objective rather than a stash where every raid item is at risk.
Wait for more information about The Forever Winter when…
- The bleak, mech-dominated setting is the main attraction.
- You are comfortable checking current official information before committing.
- You can accept that solo support, pricing, release status and extraction rules are not currently established here.
How to avoid buying the wrong kind of PvE game
Read the multiplayer labels literally
“PvE” does not always mean “no PvP.” A listing can describe monsters and cooperative play while also including online PvP, as Level Zero: Extraction does. Look for the complete multiplayer description, not a single mode label.
Separate raid loss from mission failure
Ask what you are risking when you enter. Duckov’s cited loop includes losing the run’s haul if you fail to extract. Deep Rock Galactic emphasizes bringing mined resources home, but it is not described as a persistent stash shooter. The distinction tells you whether you want inventory anxiety or simply a dangerous final objective.
Check whether solo means supported or merely possible
Duckov is listed as single-player, making its solo identity explicit. Deep Rock Galactic is built for one to four players, so it can accommodate a lone player but is fundamentally a co-op FPS. The Forever Winter’s solo support is not established in the available official information. Those labels should shape your purchase decision before you consider weapons or visual style.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Use content numbers as scope indicators, not guarantees
Five maps, more than 50 weapons, 11 biomes and more than 50 enemy types describe the scale stated by the respective Steam listings. They do not predict exactly how long you will play, how often a map will repeat or how much future content will arrive. Use them to compare the advertised breadth, then weigh the underlying loop you will repeat every session.
Bottom line
For a true PvE extraction experience with no cited human-opponent component, start with Escape From Duckov. Its single-player design, haul-at-risk loop, hideout, quests, blueprints, skill trees, five maps and 50-plus weapons make it the most direct answer to “I want extraction tension but less PvP.” For two to four players, choose Deep Rock Galactic: its four classes, 11 biomes, destructible procedural caves and more than 50 enemy types turn extraction into a cooperative survival problem rather than a duel against another squad. Keep The Forever Winter on a watchlist until its current official details are confirmed, and avoid Level Zero: Extraction or GROUND BRANCH when eliminating PvP or requiring a literal extraction game is non-negotiable.
