If you want a PS5 controller with remappable rear inputs, three manufacturer-documented choices stand out: Sony’s DualSense Edge, SCUF’s Reflex family, and Razer’s Wolverine V2 Pro. They are not interchangeable designs. The Edge has two interchangeable back-button positions, Reflex controllers have four rear paddles, and the Wolverine V2 Pro combines four rear triggers with two multifunction top bumpers.
There is no hands-on test here, so this is not a claim that one controller delivers better competitive results, lower latency, longer battery life, or greater durability. The useful comparison is how each layout fits your hand, what it lets you remap, how profiles work, and whether the exact model has the features you need.
What makes a PS5 controller “pro” for this use?
For this guide, a pro controller is one that adds configurable inputs or deeper control tuning beyond a standard gamepad. The important distinction is not the marketing label; it is the physical layout and the rules governing remapping.

Four paddles or triggers provide more assignments, but also require more careful finger placement.
- Remapping rules: Some controls cannot be assigned to rear inputs. A controller that advertises four paddles may still restrict which commands those paddles can perform.
- Profile handling: Profiles may be saved and switched on the PS5, stored on the controller, or managed through a phone app. That changes how quickly you can change layouts between games.
- Control tuning: Adjustable stick sensitivity, dead zones, trigger settings, interchangeable sticks, or trigger stops can matter as much as extra buttons.
- Model-specific equipment: A product family can contain several variants. Do not assume that a feature listed for one model is included on every version.
The three products below meet the central requirements in the available manufacturer documentation. They represent different solutions rather than a verified first-, second-, and third-place ranking.

At-a-glance comparison
| Controller | Rear or extra inputs | Remapping and profiles | Important limits or qualifications |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sony DualSense Edge | Two rear-button slots; supplied half-dome and lever button styles | Assignments and profiles are configured through PS5 settings; profiles can be switched with the controller’s Fn controls | Fn cannot be remapped, and another button cannot be assigned to act as L2 or R2 |
| SCUF Reflex family | Four rear paddles | Paddles can be remapped on the controller; onboard profiles are available | Create, Options, Home, and trigger functions cannot be assigned to paddles; features differ by Reflex variant |
| Razer Wolverine V2 Pro | Four rear triggers plus two multifunction top bumpers | Assignments are changed with the Razer Controller app for iOS or Android | Check the exact PS5 configuration and app workflow before buying; the product is described as officially licensed for PlayStation |
Those counts describe physical inputs, not performance statistics. No comparable published figure establishes a winner for latency, reaction time, competitive improvement, market share, or cross-model battery life.
Sony DualSense Edge: the PS5-integrated option
Rear layout and supplied parts
The DualSense Edge provides two rear-button positions. Sony supplies two interchangeable styles: half-dome buttons and lever-style buttons. This lets you choose the contact shape that feels more natural without changing the number of rear inputs.
What you can tune
Sony documents remappable buttons, saveable profiles, adjustable stick sensitivity, adjustable stick dead zones, and adjustable trigger settings. These controls are useful when you want to make a stick respond more quickly near center, reduce an unwanted dead zone, or change trigger behavior for a particular game.
PlayStation Blog described the aim of the Edge as remapping or deactivating specific button inputs while fine-tuning stick sensitivity and dead zones. That is a description of the available controls, not an independent measurement of improved aim.
How profiles work
Edge assignments and profiles are managed through the PS5’s controller settings. After creating profiles for your games, you can switch between them using the controller’s Fn controls. This is the most direct workflow of the three options because configuration stays on the console rather than requiring a phone.
Limits to understand before buying
- The Fn button itself cannot be reassigned.
- You cannot assign another button to function as the L2 or R2 trigger.
Those restrictions matter if your preferred layout depends on moving a trigger command to a rear control or converting Fn into a regular game action. The Edge’s two-button layout is better suited to a small, deliberate set of assignments than to players who want four separate rear commands.

SCUF Reflex: four paddles with model-dependent features
Rear layout
SCUF’s Reflex family uses four remappable rear paddles. Four contact points can cover several actions that otherwise require removing a thumb from a stick, but the extra controls also make reach and accidental presses important parts of your decision.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Remapping rules
SCUF’s support documentation says Reflex paddles can be assigned to functions except Create, Options, Home, and the triggers. This means the four paddles are not universal duplicates of every control on the front of the controller. If a game relies on one of the excluded commands, you must continue to use its original button.
Profiles stored on the controller
Reflex controllers provide onboard profiles, and paddle remapping is performed on the controller itself. That can be convenient when moving between games or using the controller with more than one PS5, because the basic profile workflow does not depend on a mobile application.
Do not generalize across Reflex variants
SCUF’s product information distinguishes features by Reflex model. For example, instant triggers are associated with FPS variants, while grip appears on selected versions. Treat the family name as a starting point, then verify the exact variant’s specification before paying for a feature you expect.
Replacement-paddle compatibility
SCUF states that only SCUF Reflex paddles are compatible with Reflex controllers. Plan replacements around the exact Reflex platform rather than assuming that a paddle from another controller family will fit.

More than four rear controls
The Wolverine V2 Pro combines four rear triggers with two multifunction top bumpers. Its six additional inputs are arranged differently from the Edge’s two back buttons and Reflex’s four paddles: two of the extra controls sit on the top edge, while four are reached from the rear.

Phone-based remapping
Razer documents remapping through its Controller app for iOS and Android. Before buying, make sure you are comfortable using a phone during setup and check that the app workflow supports the exact PS5 configuration you plan to use. The controller is described by Razer as officially licensed for PlayStation.
Who should consider this layout?
The Wolverine V2 Pro is the natural fit for someone who wants the largest number of extra inputs among these three documented options. The trade-off is that six additional controls create more decisions about finger placement and profile design. A higher count is not automatically better if you frequently press neighboring controls by mistake.
Remapping restrictions can matter more than button count
Extra controls only help when they can perform the commands you actually need. Compare the assignment rules before comparing the number printed on the box.

| Question | DualSense Edge | SCUF Reflex | Wolverine V2 Pro |
|---|---|---|---|
| How many rear controls are documented? | Two back-button slots | Four rear paddles | Four rear triggers |
| Are there additional top controls? | Not stated for this comparison | Not stated for this comparison | Two multifunction top bumpers |
| Can the special profile/control button be reassigned? | Fn cannot be remapped | Not stated in the cited support note | Not stated in the cited product note |
| Can rear controls duplicate triggers? | No: another button cannot be assigned as L2/R2 | No: trigger functions are excluded from paddle mapping | Exact assignment restrictions are not stated in the cited product note |
| Are Create, Options, and Home available on Reflex paddles? | Not applicable to the Reflex rule | No; those functions are excluded | Not stated in the cited product note |
“Not stated” means the cited product information does not establish that detail; it is not permission to assume the control is supported. For a particular game, write down the commands you want on the rear inputs and eliminate any controller whose documented restrictions block them.
How to choose the right controller for your play style
Choose the DualSense Edge when two rear inputs are enough
Pick the Edge if you want a PS5-native setup, two carefully chosen rear assignments, and built-in adjustment for stick response, dead zones, and triggers. It is especially logical when you want to save several game profiles and switch them with Fn controls without opening a phone app.
Choose a SCUF Reflex variant when four paddles are your priority
Reflex is the better fit when four rear contact points are central to your layout and you prefer onboard profiles. Confirm the exact model before ordering: instant triggers and grip are not presented as universal Reflex-family features. Also check that the commands you want do not fall into the excluded Create, Options, Home, or trigger categories.

Choose the Wolverine V2 Pro when you want the most documented extra inputs
The Wolverine V2 Pro offers four rear triggers and two top multifunction bumpers, giving it the broadest documented set of additional controls in this comparison. Choose it only if app-based setup on iOS or Android is acceptable and the physical arrangement matches your hand.
Use reach and accidental presses as deciding tests
Button count should be the final step, not the first. Hold the controller in your normal grip and ask:
- Can your middle, ring, or little fingers rest on the rear controls without tension?
- Can you press one rear input without brushing its neighbor?
- Can you keep both sticks under your thumbs while using the assignments you care about?
- Will a lever, half-dome, paddle, or trigger shape give you a consistent press?
These are fit questions, so a feature table cannot answer them for you. If a retailer offers a clear return policy, preserve the packaging until you have checked reach and accidental activation.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.A practical setup process
1. List the commands you want off the face buttons
Start with actions that repeatedly force your thumb away from a stick. Keep the list short enough to remember. On a two-button controller, prioritize the two highest-value commands; on a four- or six-input layout, add assignments only when each one has a clear purpose.
2. Check each manufacturer’s exclusions
For the Edge, account for the Fn and L2/R2 restrictions. For Reflex, remove Create, Options, Home, and trigger functions from your rear-button plan. For the Wolverine V2 Pro, confirm the exact assignment behavior in the current Controller app before finalizing a layout.
3. Create a profile for one game first
On the Edge, use the PS5 controller settings to configure and save the profile, then switch with the Fn controls. On Reflex, use the controller’s onboard profile workflow. On the Wolverine V2 Pro, use the Razer Controller app on iOS or Android. Do not build a dozen profiles before you know that your first layout is comfortable.

- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
4. Test every assignment in a low-cost environment
Use a practice area, tutorial, or other setting where an accidental input will not ruin progress. Check each rear control independently, then test combinations such as moving a stick while pressing a paddle or trigger. Confirm that profile switching does not leave a game on the wrong layout.
5. Refine sensitivity and trigger behavior where supported
Edge owners can adjust stick sensitivity, dead zones, and trigger settings in addition to button assignments. Change one setting at a time so you know which adjustment caused a difference. Do not describe a preferred value as universally optimal; the useful setting depends on the game and your control habits.
6. Label profiles by game and purpose
Use names that identify both the game and the control style, such as a movement-focused layout or an aim-focused layout. Clear names reduce the chance of switching to a profile with unfamiliar rear assignments.

Compatibility and replacement checks
Compatibility is not limited to whether a controller pairs with a PS5. Verify the exact product variant, the way profiles are stored, and the availability of matching replacement parts.
- DualSense Edge: Confirm that the package includes the back-button styles you want and that the PS5 settings workflow suits your setup.
- SCUF Reflex: Match replacement paddles to the Reflex platform; SCUF says only Reflex paddles are compatible. Confirm variant-specific equipment such as instant triggers or grip.
- Wolverine V2 Pro: Check the PS5 product configuration and ensure you can use the iOS or Android Controller app for remapping.
Retail price, stock, warranty terms, and current accessory availability were not established by the product information summarized here. Verify those details at the time of purchase rather than relying on an old listing.
Claims this comparison does not establish
Manufacturer feature pages document what the controllers are designed to do. They do not, by themselves, prove that one model has faster reactions, lower input latency, a longer battery runtime, better durability, or a higher win rate. No comparable published statistic establishes those outcomes across these models.
The list is also not a complete inventory of every PS5 controller. It covers the three options for which the cited manufacturer or support information documents the required remapping and rear-input features. A product not discussed here should be evaluated against the same checklist rather than assumed to be inferior.
Recommended Free Tools
Bottom line: match the layout to the commands you actually use
The DualSense Edge is the most integrated choice for PS5 profile management, two interchangeable rear-button styles, and detailed stick and trigger tuning. SCUF Reflex is the four-paddle option, but its remapping exclusions and model-specific features require careful variant checking. Razer’s Wolverine V2 Pro offers four rear triggers plus two top multifunction bumpers for the largest documented set of extra inputs, with remapping handled through a mobile app.
There is no evidence here for a universal “best” performer. Choose by rear-input count, physical reach, assignment restrictions, profile workflow, and exact model configuration; those differences determine whether a pro controller is useful in your hands.
