For a gaming-and-streaming desktop under $1,000, prioritize an RTX 5060-class GPU, a modern six-core processor, 16 GB or more of RAM, and a 1 TB SSD. Treat those as targets, not a promise that a particular PC is currently available at that price: stock and promotions change, so verify the exact configuration and checkout total before buying.
What makes a prebuilt suitable for gaming and streaming?
A graphics card with a hardware encoder can handle video encoding separately from much of the game-rendering work. NVIDIA says GeForce RTX GPUs include dedicated NVENC encoders, making an RTX 5060-class system a reasonable place to start. That does not guarantee zero performance impact or a smooth stream: results also depend on the game, graphics settings, OBS configuration, platform codec support, and upload bandwidth.
A six-core CPU is a practical target for a budget gaming desktop, while 16 GB of RAM is a starting point rather than an ideal that fits every game and multitasking setup. A 1 TB SSD gives more room for games and recordings than a smaller drive, but confirm the capacity on the exact listing rather than relying on a product-family description.
Which specifications should you prioritize?
- GPU: Look for an RTX 5060 or comparable graphics card, and check the exact model and VRAM. The RTX 5060 is a sensible target in this budget tier, not a guarantee of a specific frame rate or stream quality.
- CPU: Favor a recent six-core processor or better. Check the precise model because a broad label such as “Core i5” does not identify its generation or capabilities.
- Memory: Aim for at least 16 GB, then check whether it is one stick or a matched pair, which memory generation it uses, how many slots the motherboard has, and what it supports.
- Storage: Prefer a 1 TB SSD if the price allows. Verify the exact SKU and drive type on the retailer or manufacturer page.
- Chassis and components: Check the power supply, motherboard, warranty, return terms, and upgrade restrictions for that specific desktop. Do not assume a manufacturer’s entire range uses standard, easily replaceable parts.
- Total price: Compare the checkout price, including shipping and applicable charges, with your $1,000 ceiling. A listed price can change or exclude costs that affect your budget.

Its reported configurations and stock status are time-sensitive. Use the retailer’s exact SKU page to check what is actually included and available.
What should you know about OBS encoding and internet speed?
NVIDIA’s NVENC OBS Guide, dated January 30, 2025, says GeForce RTX GPUs have dedicated hardware encoders. It lists H.264 and HEVC for Twitch, and H.264, HEVC, and AV1 for YouTube at the time of publication. Platform support and software recommendations can change, so check current settings for your streaming service before going live.

The guide reports that AV1 on RTX 50 Series is approximately 43% more efficient than H.264. That is NVIDIA’s codec-efficiency comparison, not an independent test of a finished stream or a gaming PC. Whether you can use AV1 depends on the platform and configuration you stream with.

How to check a listing before you buy
- Open the exact product configuration. Confirm the GPU, CPU, RAM capacity and generation, SSD size, and any configuration options. Do not infer specifications from a product family or a different SKU.
- Confirm the full price and stock. Check availability and the total shown at checkout. Treat old deal coverage as a historical reference, not proof of a live offer.
- Inspect memory layout and upgrade limits. Find out how many RAM sticks are installed, which slots are free, and what type and capacity the motherboard supports before planning an upgrade.
- Review the power supply and return terms. Check the exact desktop’s PSU, warranty, return window, and whether standard replacement parts can be used. Manufacturer claims about one model do not establish the design of every tower in the range.
- Match streaming settings to your connection. Before streaming, review OBS and platform codec options and choose an output resolution, frame rate, and bitrate your upload connection can sustain.
What you can and cannot conclude from the market examples
The dated listings show that RTX 5060 desktops with the desired memory and storage can appear near this budget, but they do not prove that a qualifying configuration is in stock now. Likewise, a manufacturer’s configurable product family does not establish that its entry configuration meets the budget. Compare current exact-SKU listings on price, components, upgradeability, warranty, and returns; do not treat historical prices as today’s offers or assume a tested performance ranking where none is established.
