The REDMAGIC 11 Pro is the best choice if you specifically want active cooling built into the phone. Its internal fan works with a liquid-cooling loop and a very large vapor chamber, giving it more thermal headroom than a conventional gaming handset during long sessions. It also combines a 144 Hz display, shoulder buttons, a 7,500 mAh battery and an 80 W charger.
The ASUS ROG Phone 9 Pro is the strongest alternative for buyers who prefer ASUS’s gaming software and accessory ecosystem, but its active fan is a separate AeroActive Cooler X Pro attachment. Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra is a useful mainstream comparison: its enlarged vapor chamber stayed cool during a one-hour Genshin Impact test, yet it has no internal fan and is therefore a passive-cooling phone.
Quick comparison

Every modern performance phone uses some form of passive heat spreading. A vapor chamber moves heat away from the processor into a larger surface area, where it can dissipate through the frame. It does not actively pull heat out of the device; it only spreads it.
#1 Best Overall
- 【20W Power Ultra-Fast Cooling】The wired magnetic phone cooler utilizes high-performance Peltier element (TEC) with high heat dissipation capacity, and its heat dissipation ability lowers the temperature of the main unit by about 95℉. NOTE: Connection to power supply required for use. Power must exceed 20W for optimal performance. Data cable not included in packag.
- 【Simple Control】The cell phone cooling fan has a built-in Type-C interface, just connect the power cord and it is ready to use. Switch between overclocking mode and silent mode with the click of a button. 12N strong magnetic force holds the phone firmly in place and prevents it from falling off.
- 【Compact and lightweight design】The Magnetic cell phone cooler weighs only 0.18 lb in a small size, leaving more space for hand operation and being without overheavy burden.
- 【Quiet Operation】This smartphone cooler adopts noise reduction design, and the operating noise in silent mode is only 30db, allowing you to play games or watch videos comfortably.
- 【Vertical Air Duct Design】The vertical air duct design of FunCooler 5 smartphone cooling fan focuses on the user's actual experience and innovative ergonomic design, which provides a comfortable grip and does not dissipate heat to the hand.
Active cooling adds a powered component. An internal fan moves air through a dedicated intake and exhaust path. A clip-on cooler places a fan against the phone’s exterior. The goal is to delay the point at which the processor reduces clock speeds to control temperature. That matters most after 30 to 60 minutes, when a short benchmark result no longer represents the frame rates you actually experience.
Active cooling is not a guarantee of a fixed frame rate. Game-engine limits, software optimization, network latency and the graphics settings you choose still matter. It does, however, give the phone another way to shed heat instead of relying only on its chassis and vapor chamber.
REDMAGIC 11 Pro: the best integrated cooling design
How its cooling system works
PhoneArena describes the REDMAGIC 11 Pro as the first smartphone with a functional liquid-cooling system. Its design combines a built-in fan with the company’s largest vapor chamber, while Android Central reports a piezoelectric ceramic micropump that circulates coolant through ultra-fine liquid channels. In practical terms, heat is spread through the liquid loop and vapor chamber, then moved toward the fan-assisted airflow path.
That architecture is different from a phone that merely has a large vapor chamber. The REDMAGIC has an active heat-removal stage inside the handset, so it does not depend entirely on passive dissipation once a demanding game has been running for a long period.

Measured performance
Android Central’s 2026 testing recorded the following results:
| Test | Result | What it indicates |
|---|---|---|
| Geekbench 6 single-core | 3,614 | Short burst CPU performance |
| Geekbench 6 multi-core | 10,785 | Short burst performance with several CPU cores loaded |
| 3DMark Wild Life Extreme | 7,105; 42.55 FPS | Graphics performance in a demanding synthetic workload |
| 3DMark Solar Bay | 13,449; 51.14 FPS | Ray-tracing-oriented graphics workload |
Android Central reported little throttling during extended gaming, although the phone became warm. “Little throttling” should not be read as “never gets hot”: the cooling system preserves more performance, but it still has to move heat somewhere, and the exterior can warm up while doing so.
Gaming controls and display
The 144 Hz display gives compatible games more frequent screen updates than a 60 Hz panel. Higher refresh does not automatically create 144 frames per second; the game, chipset and graphics settings must be able to supply those frames. It can nevertheless make scrolling, camera movement and touch feedback appear smoother when performance is high enough.

Built-in shoulder buttons provide physical or capacitive control points that can be mapped to in-game actions. They are useful in shooters, racing games and other titles where moving a thumb away from the screen would cost time. Their value depends on whether your games support the mappings you want and whether you are comfortable holding a wider gaming-oriented chassis.

- Linear damping telescopic clip: easy to adjust, pay attention! Suitable for all types of mobile phones with a width of "6 to 7.5 centimeters". NEVEIKIA mobile phone cooling can cool down when connected to a power source.(Attention: It is best to remove the phone case when using it for a better experience!)
- Quick cooling: Dual engine, cooling principle is the same as a refrigerator, not ordinary fan cooling. It can cool your phone in "3 to 5 seconds", avoiding overheating and ensuring a stable live streaming or gaming experience.
- Dual power supply design: supports powering the radiator through a mobile phone, and can also be connected to an external power source for use; When connected to an external power source, it can provide stable power to both the radiator and the phone, avoiding interruption of heat dissipation due to insufficient power during long-term use and ensuring continuous and stable heat dissipation performance.
- Silent engine cooling: The fan with dual silent design can effectively dissipate air from all directions, providing stronger cooling effect without interfering with your games or Vlog programs.
- Expanded cooling area: Approximately 2.82x1.29 inches of extreme thermal conductivity cooling area, covering the CPU and battery module, protecting your phone from blackening or sudden shutdown.
Battery life and charging
The 7,500 mAh battery is unusually large for a gaming phone. Android Central reports about a day and a half with extended gaming and up to two days with medium use. Those are reviewer observations, not a guaranteed runtime: brightness, cellular reception, refresh rate, game frame-rate limits and fan use all change endurance.
The phone includes an 80 W charger, according to Android Central and REDMAGIC’s 2026 product information. A bundled charger means you do not have to budget for a separate high-wattage brick to reach the advertised charging capability. Charging speed can still vary with temperature, battery level and regional power standards.
The costs of the built-in fan
- Noise: a small fan can be audible, especially at its higher setting. That is the trade for moving air through the phone instead of relying on passive heat spreading.
- Airflow requirements: the intake and exhaust need to remain unobstructed. A tight case, blanket or hand position over the intake can reduce the cooling benefit.
- Dust exposure: Tom’s Guide flags dust-resistance limitations. Treat the fan opening as a reason to avoid dusty environments and to keep debris away from the intake.
- Camera compromise: Android Central describes the camera versatility as mediocre compared with mainstream flagships. The phone prioritizes gaming hardware over a broad camera system.
- Software support: Android Central reports two Android updates and five years of security updates. That is relevant if you keep phones for many years or want the longest possible feature-update runway.
ASUS ROG Phone 9 Pro: best when you want an accessory ecosystem
How the AeroActive Cooler changes the proposition
Tom’s Guide recommends the ROG Phone 9 Pro for pure gaming ability when it is paired with the AeroActive Cooler X Pro. The cooler is an external fan that attaches to the phone, so active cooling is accessory-dependent rather than integrated into the handset.

Works for Android, iPhone, Switch, iPad, laptops, etc. Features a 1/4 nut interface for live broadcast brackets. Package includes: Cooler x1, USB C to C cable x1, Manual x1, Removable Grips x2.
Who should choose it
The ROG Phone 9 Pro makes the most sense for someone who values ASUS’s gaming software, control features and accessory ecosystem enough to accept the extra hardware. Tom’s Guide’s recommendation is for the phone’s gaming ability with the cooler attached; it should not be interpreted as evidence that the uncooled handset offers the same active-thermal behavior.
The cited material does not establish a battery capacity, charging figure, accessory price or regional availability for this comparison. Check the package contents and local listings before assuming the AeroActive Cooler is included.
Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra: a passive-cooling benchmark
The Galaxy S26 Ultra shows why “stays cool” and “has active cooling” are not interchangeable claims. Tom’s Guide reports that its enlarged vapor chamber kept the phone cool during an hour of Genshin Impact testing. That is strong evidence of effective passive thermal management in that test, but the phone has no internal fan.
For a buyer who wants one mainstream flagship for gaming, photography, communication and general daily use, passive cooling may be preferable. There is no fan noise, no intake to keep clear and no accessory to attach. The trade-off appears during sustained workloads: the phone has no powered airflow stage to add thermal extraction after the vapor chamber has spread the heat.

Do you need a phone with a built-in fan?
Choose integrated active cooling when sustained FPS is the priority
A built-in fan is most valuable if you regularly play demanding 3D games for sessions long enough for heat to accumulate. It also suits players who do not want to remember a separate cooler, cable or mounting step. The REDMAGIC 11 Pro is the clearest fit because the fan, liquid loop and vapor chamber are designed as one system.
Choose an external cooler when flexibility matters more
An external cooler is sensible when you want gaming accessories and software controls but do not want a fan inside the phone all the time. The ROG Phone 9 Pro gives you that option, with the understanding that the active-cooling experience depends on buying and attaching the AeroActive Cooler X Pro.
Choose passive cooling when silence and everyday balance matter
If most of your play sessions are shorter or you place a higher value on a conventional flagship experience, a large vapor chamber may be sufficient. The Galaxy S26 Ultra’s one-hour Genshin result demonstrates that a passive phone can remain cool in a demanding test without an internal fan.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsHow to get the most from active cooling
- Keep the airflow path open. Do not cover the REDMAGIC’s intake with a case edge, bedding or your palm. For an external cooler, attach it exactly as designed so its contact surface sits flat.
- Use a stable power source. The REDMAGIC includes an 80 W charger, but charging and gaming together can raise heat. If the phone becomes noticeably warmer while charging, reduce game settings or pause charging during the most demanding section.
- Set a realistic frame-rate target. A 144 Hz screen is useful only when the game can sustain a high frame rate. A stable lower target often feels better than an unstable maximum setting that repeatedly triggers thermal or power limits.
- Listen for the fan and watch the surface temperature. More fan speed can improve heat removal but also increases noise. If the handset becomes uncomfortable, lower graphics quality, frame rate or brightness instead of treating the fan as permission to ignore heat.
- Keep dust away from the intake. The REDMAGIC’s fan needs air, while Tom’s Guide notes dust-resistance limitations. Avoid dusty storage and inspect the opening if airflow seems weaker or the fan sounds abnormal.
- Test your own games. Synthetic scores such as Geekbench and 3DMark are useful reference points, but your game’s engine, resolution and network workload determine the experience you actually get. Compare frame-rate stability after at least 30 minutes rather than judging only the first few minutes.
Buying checklist
- Do you require a fan inside the phone, or is a clip-on cooler acceptable?
- Will you play long enough for sustained thermal performance to matter?
- Can you tolerate fan noise during play?
- Is the intake protected adequately for where you use the phone?
- Do you need shoulder buttons or other dedicated controls?
- Is a 7,500 mAh battery and bundled 80 W charger more important than camera versatility?
- Are two Android updates and five years of security updates sufficient for your ownership period?
- Would an external cooler’s cost and bulk undermine the convenience you want?
- Do you need a mainstream camera and daily-driver experience instead of gaming-first hardware?
- Is the model officially available in your region, and are the charger and cooler included in the local package?
Verdict
The REDMAGIC 11 Pro is the best phone here for buyers who specifically ask for active cooling built into the handset. Its fan-and-liquid architecture, 144 Hz display, shoulder buttons, 7,500 mAh battery and 80 W charger are purpose-built for long mobile-gaming sessions, and Android Central observed little throttling in extended play. Accept the audible fan, airflow and dust considerations, less versatile cameras and limited Android-update promise.
Pick the ROG Phone 9 Pro if ASUS’s gaming software and accessory ecosystem matter more than having cooling integrated into the phone. Pick the Galaxy S26 Ultra if you want a quieter, mainstream flagship that demonstrated effective passive cooling and you do not need a built-in fan.
