The best Path of Titans server-hosting route in 2026 depends on whether you want convenience or control. Renting from a Game Server Provider is the simpler operational choice; self-hosting gives you direct control over files, configuration and data, but requires a dedicated Windows or Linux machine and ongoing administration. Alderon officially supports both routes, but the currently accessible official hosting information does not identify providers, prices, regions or plan limits, so there is no evidence-based provider ranking to publish.
Use the comparison below to evaluate a current rental offer, or follow the official self-hosting workflow. It covers capacity, latency, configuration, mods, backups, updates, support, policy obligations and the limitations of the information currently published by Alderon.
What “best” means for a Path of Titans community server
A community server is an independently operated server where the owner controls rules, administrators and many gameplay settings. Alderon says a player with a full copy of Path of Titans can host by running the server themselves or by working with a Game Server Provider (GSP). The official overview is available on Alderon’s Path of Titans Server Hosting page, and the support FAQ explains the two routes in its answer to “How do I host my own community server?” at Community Servers F.A.Q.
For a real buying decision, “best” is not a single brand. It is the host that meets your expected concurrent players, puts the machine close to your players, exposes the controls you need, protects your data and fits the amount of administration you are willing to do. Official sources do not provide a current provider-by-provider price or performance comparison, so treat every current plan page as something to verify rather than assuming that a provider offers a particular limit, region or feature.
#1 Best Overall
- Cooperative deck-building game
- Play as one of eight different heroes, each with a unique Special ability
- Move your hero from location to location to gather the cards you need to stop the Titans!
- Compatible with previous and future Cerberus game engine releases
- Ages 15 & up, 1-5 players
- Choose a rental when you want a control panel, a provider-managed machine and a shorter path to going online.
- Choose self-hosting when you already operate a suitable dedicated Windows or Linux machine and need direct control over software, networking, database and configuration.
- Do not choose on price alone. A low monthly fee can be offset by player-limit add-ons, storage, backups, support restrictions, network charges or the time required to administer the server.
Rental hosting and self-hosting compared
| Decision factor | Game Server Provider rental | Self-hosting |
|---|---|---|
| Initial setup | Alderon describes this as the simpler route. Confirm the provider’s control-panel workflow, included installation and any setup fee before ordering. | Requires a dedicated Windows or Linux machine, server files, authentication, a unique server GUID, networking and database choices. The official setup guide is at Set Up a Path of Titans Server. |
| Recurring cost | Current plans, prices and add-ons were not stated in the cited official material. Compare the live offer, billing term, renewal price and taxes directly with each provider. | There is no official break-even figure. Account for hardware, electricity, network service, storage, maintenance and your own administration time. |
| Control and customization | Community servers support mods and extensive settings, but a rental may expose only the controls implemented in its panel. Ask for a complete list before purchasing. | You control the files and documented configuration, including map, password, maximum players, reserved slots, chat controls and game-mode settings. |
| Capacity | Verify the concurrent-player limit, whether it is a hard cap or an upgrade option, and whether CPU, memory or storage limits change with larger plans. | The configuration supports a player cap, but Alderon’s documentation does not publish a validated hardware-sizing table. Capacity depends on your machine, network and configuration. |
| Location and latency | Pick a region close to most players and ask whether the advertised location is the physical server location or only a billing region. | You select the machine and network location, subject to what your internet service and data-center access permit. |
| Backups and recovery | Confirm backup frequency, retention, restore procedure and whether database backups are included or charged separately. | You are responsible for copying the server folder and database, testing restores and protecting credentials. |
| Updates and restarts | Ask whether game updates, mod updates and scheduled restarts are automatic, manual or billable support work. | You download and update server files, schedule restarts and investigate failed updates yourself. |
| Support | Compare response targets, escalation channels and whether support can troubleshoot mods or only the underlying machine. | You are the first-line support. Alderon’s documentation is a guide, not a managed-service commitment. |
How to evaluate a current Game Server Provider
Because the accessible Alderon provider section contains generic hosting copy rather than a verifiable list of names and plans, use the following checklist on each live offer. Do not infer that a provider supplies a feature merely because community-server software supports it.
1. Calculate the complete recurring price
Record the advertised term (monthly, quarterly or annual), renewal price, taxes, setup fees and every optional charge. Check whether additional player slots, storage, database access, automated backups, a dedicated IP or mod support cost extra. A promotional first invoice is not the same as a recurring rate.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →2. Match the physical region to your players
List where most players live, then select the nearest available region that has adequate capacity. Ask whether you can move regions later without losing the world database. If the provider does not state a region or relocation policy, mark it as unknown instead of assuming low latency.
3. Confirm the real player limit
Get the maximum concurrent players in writing and ask whether reserved slots count against that cap. The official configuration guide documents a configurable maximum, but it does not establish provider performance at any particular number of players. Do not treat examples in Game.ini as a benchmark.
4. Check the control panel against your intended server
Verify that the panel lets you change the settings you need, upload or enable approved mods, select maps and modes, manage administrators, view logs and restart safely. Ask whether changes are made through a panel, direct file editing, command line or support tickets, and whether a panel update can overwrite custom files.
5. Read the backup and data terms
Identify what is backed up (world database, configuration, logs and mod files), how often, how long copies are retained and how a restore is requested. Keep an independent copy even when backups are advertised. A backup that cannot be downloaded or restored on demand is not a complete recovery plan.

- FINISHING TASKS IS A BIT MORE EXTREME WHEN YOU'RE A SUPERHERO: The Teen Titans have a lot to do during the day. To get everything done, they have split into two teams. Even though it didn’t start as a contest to see who could get everything done first, the gauntlet has been thrown down and if it means a little playful combat, so be it.
- COMBAT STRATEGY BOARD GAME: Teen Titans GO! Mayhem puts players in the role of the Titans as they go around the city trying to complete missions and gain VPs. Of course, completing the missions isn’t the only one way to gain VPs. They can also KO one-another to speed up their victory!
- ACTION-PACKED FIGHTING GAME: Teen Titans Go Mayhem is built around the "Mayhem System", a system for character vs. character team-based combat in which the most direct method for a team to gain VP is by KOing their opponents.
- CHALLENGING AND COMPETITIVE: Each Titan has their own hero dashboard with their own unique style and special moves to utilize throughout the game. Roll the Mayhem die and see just how much damage can be done in this winner-take-all contest. The player that gets to 5 VPs first is the winner.
- NUMBER OF PLAYERS AND AVERAGE PLAYTIME: This fun combat strategy board game for adults and kids is made for 2 to 4 players and is suitable for ages 10 and older. Average playtime is approximately 30 minutes.
6. Clarify maintenance and support boundaries
Ask who applies server updates, how much warning is given before restarts, and what happens when an update breaks a mod. Determine whether support handles game-server configuration or only the host machine, and whether emergency support is available outside business hours.
What self-hosting actually requires
Alderon’s hosting page states that self-hosting needs a dedicated Windows or Linux machine. The official wiki describes a conventional dedicated-server installation rather than a consumer desktop shortcut. You should be prepared to administer the operating system, network exposure, credentials, server files, database and updates.
Dedicated machine and operating system
The published documentation does not specify minimum CPU, memory, storage or bandwidth requirements, and no hardware model has been validated as adequate. Plan capacity only after considering your intended player cap, mods, map and operating-system overhead. The Linux instructions were tested on Ubuntu 22.04; the guide advises running the server under a non-root account. Windows and Linux instructions are both provided, and the author notes that the steps are not exhaustive.
Server downloader and authentication
The setup wiki uses AlderonGamesCmd to download and update server files. Its listed parameters include the game, server files, production branch, authentication token and installation directory. The server also needs an Alderon authentication token and a unique UUIDv4 server GUID. Create and protect your own credentials; never publish a real token, GUID or password in a tutorial, log excerpt or support post.

Production and public-test branches
The guide recommends the production branch. Public-test access is separate. Use the test branch only when you deliberately want to test that release and have a rollback plan; do not assume test-branch files are suitable for a stable public community.
Database selection
The server can use a local or remote database. The wiki recommends a remote database when shared data must be available across hived servers and to reduce the risk of losing data when a server folder is deleted. Whichever option you choose, document credentials, restrict access, back up the database and test a restore before inviting players.

- LEVI CHARACTER DECK: Each ready to play deck contains 61 cards (60 cards + 1 character card) focused on that character’s particular strengths.
- PLAYMAT: Decks also contain a learn to play guide and a paper playmat.
- BRINGING THE MANGA TO LIFE in our set gives it a distinct visual style that is sure to attract a lot of attention.
- NON-CHARACTER CARDS in these decks are found in Attack on Titan: Battle for Humanity, providing a good starting point for a new player to build their collection.
Network exposure
The conventional setup requires forwarding the server port from the internet to the machine. The setup guide says the required port defaults to 7777 if it is not otherwise set. Confirm the effective port in your configuration, allow it through the host firewall, forward the same port on your router or upstream firewall and test from outside your local network. If your internet connection uses carrier-grade NAT, ordinary port forwarding may not work; ask your network provider for a public address or use a hosting arrangement that supplies reachable networking.
Self-hosting setup: an operational sequence
Use the official instructions for exact command syntax and platform-specific prerequisites. The sequence below explains what each stage accomplishes without exposing credentials or pretending that a sample token is usable.
- Choose the host. Provision a dedicated Windows or Linux machine with sufficient resources for your planned configuration. On Linux, create a non-root service account as recommended by the wiki.
- Install the required operating-system components. Apply security updates, create a restricted service account, set the correct time and establish a directory dedicated to server files and logs.
- Download the server software. Use
AlderonGamesCmdwith your own game selection, server-files target, production branch and install directory. Keep the command or script private if it contains authentication material. - Authenticate the server. Supply the Alderon authentication token required by the server setup. Store it in a protected configuration or secret-management method rather than in a public repository.
- Assign a unique server GUID. Generate a UUIDv4 value that is not shared with another server. Keep a record of it for future migrations and troubleshooting.
- Choose local or remote data storage. Configure the database endpoint and credentials. For hived servers or data that must survive replacement of the server folder, follow the wiki’s remote-database guidance and maintain independent backups.
- Configure networking. Set the chosen port, open the host firewall, configure router or data-center forwarding and verify that the port is reachable from an external network.
- Start privately and test. Connect with a small trusted group, inspect logs, test authentication, verify that settings persist after a restart and confirm that a backup can be restored.
- Publish the server to players. Only after the private test should you advertise the server name, rules, region, schedule and administrator contacts.
Configuring maps, players, passwords and rules
The official Server Configurations guide says to edit Game.ini while the server is stopped, then restart after saving so changes take effect. It documents examples for the server name, map, maximum players, password, reserved slots, free-to-play access and chat controls, along with game-mode and gameplay settings.
- Stop before editing. Changing the file while the process is running can be overwritten or ignored.
- Change one logical group at a time. Make a dated backup of the previous file so you can identify which setting caused a failure.
- Use examples as syntax references. Values shown in the wiki are examples or defaults, not universal recommendations for every community.
- Restart deliberately. Announce maintenance, stop cleanly, save the file, restart and verify the effective setting in logs or in-game.
- Document player-facing rules. If you use passwords, reserved slots, chat restrictions or special game modes, publish the policy where players can read it before joining.
Mods, custom maps and administration
Alderon’s official hosting material describes support for mods, custom maps and modes, adjustments to stats and playable characters, owner-set rules and administrators. The exact mod workflow depends on your hosting arrangement. On a rental, confirm that the control panel permits the mods and file changes you need; on a self-hosted machine, keep a versioned record of every mod and configuration change.
Assign administrators sparingly. Use separate accounts or roles where available, keep an audit trail for bans and rule changes, and remove access when a moderator leaves. Test a mod after each game update, because a previously working combination can become incompatible. Keep a recovery copy of the last known-good configuration so you can disable a faulty mod without deleting the world database.
Updates, backups and routine operations
Update management
Server files need to be downloaded and updated, and updates may require restarts. Schedule a maintenance window, announce it in advance and retain the previous configuration. If you use a provider, determine whether updates are automatic and whether you can delay them while checking mod compatibility. If you self-host, apply updates first to a staging copy when practical.

Backups
Back up the database and configuration separately from the live server directory. Retain multiple dated copies, store at least one copy on another machine or service and periodically perform a restore test. A deleted server folder should not erase the only copy of your community’s data.
Monitoring
Watch for repeated crashes, authentication failures, full disks, database connection errors and unexpected restarts. Record the server version, configuration revision and mod list for each incident. This information is useful whether you contact a provider or troubleshoot your own machine.
Rules and legal responsibilities
Community-server owners must follow Alderon’s Terms of Service and Server Hosting Agreement. The agreement describes the server-software license as intended for personal, non-commercial server hosting and places responsibility for the server, hardware and software on the host. Read the current agreement at Server Hosting Agreement before opening a public server.

Alderon’s May 2026 development blog discussed improved self-hosting and NAT punch-through as work in progress. It described conventional player hosting at that time as requiring dedicated server software and port forwarding, with availability limited to PC/Linux players. The announced direction was an easier invite flow with cross-play and optional local or remote save data.
The post did not establish that this feature became a universally available release afterward. Treat it as a development goal, not as a current replacement for a dedicated community server. Alderon described the intended benefit this way: “This will work with cross-play, allowing small groups of friends from different platforms to join the same game and play together without having to play on an official or community server.” Read the original post at Dev Blog May 2026 and check current release notes before planning around it.

Which route should you choose?
Rent when these statements are true
- You want to launch without maintaining a Windows or Linux machine.
- Your group values predictable support and a published server region.
- You can accept the settings and mod controls exposed by the provider.
- You prefer a recurring fee to managing hardware, networking, updates and backups.
Self-host when these statements are true
- You already have a dedicated machine and the skills to administer it securely.
- You need direct access to configuration, database and files.
- You are prepared to troubleshoot port forwarding, authentication, updates and mod failures.
- You can create and test an independent backup and recovery process.
Pause before launching when any of these are unresolved
- The provider has not stated the real player cap or physical region.
- You do not know whether backups can be downloaded and restored.
- No one is responsible for updates, restarts and moderation while you are unavailable.
- You plan to publish credentials, use a shared server GUID or expose an unprotected database.
- You are relying on an in-development NAT or cross-play feature without confirming its release status.
Common problems and practical fixes
Players cannot connect
Verify that the server is running, the configured port matches the firewall and router rules, and the machine is reachable from outside the local network. Check for carrier-grade NAT or an upstream firewall. Confirm the server’s authentication and GUID values, then inspect logs for startup errors.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsConfiguration changes do not appear
Stop the server before editing Game.ini, save the file in the expected server directory and restart. Check for syntax errors and confirm that another management panel or update process did not overwrite the file.
The world or settings reset
Confirm that the server is connecting to the intended database and that the service account can read and write it. Restore a known-good backup only after preserving the current files for diagnosis. If you changed from local to remote storage, verify the endpoint and credentials.
An update breaks a mod
Record the game-server version and mod versions, disable the suspect mod on a copy and test the base server. Notify players before changing the public instance, and keep the last known-good configuration available for rollback.
Bottom line: the evidence-based choice in 2026
There is no defensible “best provider” ranking from the currently published official material because provider names, prices, regions, plan limits and service conditions are not established there. For most groups that want the least administration, compare current Game Server Provider offers using the checklist above. For technically capable owners who need maximum control, self-hosting is the documented alternative—but it is an operating responsibility, not simply a download.
