Astraeos Ascended: choose it when the map is part of the plan
Astraeos Ascended ships its own map with tuned dinosaur additions. It is therefore most attractive when you are beginning a new expedition and want the world design and creature roster planned together.
Do not treat it as a drop-in creature pack for an existing long-running map. A map-bound overhaul can affect travel routes, base locations, resource routines and the order in which your group encounters threats. Back up your save, confirm that the map is available on your platform, and make sure every cluster server uses the same map and mod files.
ARK Primal Nemesis: premium, content-heavy scope
ARK Primal Nemesis is described as a premium all-rounder with a large volume of content. It is the candidate for players who want a broad, high-content overhaul and are willing to pay if the current listing requires it.
The available information does not establish the exact price, purchase model, version or console support. Check those details directly before buying, especially if you play on a console or intend to use a hosted cross-platform server. A premium label is not an independent quality score; compare the actual systems, maps and creature changes with what your group wants to play.
Can you run two overhaul mods at once?
Do not stack two overhaul mods on the same server or single-player profile. The principal warning is conflicting dinosaur stat changes. Two projects may both replace health, damage, spawning, abilities or progression data, and the resulting behavior can be unpredictable. A world that loads is not proof that the combination is safe.
Keep one overhaul active per server or profile. If you want to compare projects, create separate profiles, use separate save folders and test each one independently. Do not swap the active overhaul in an established save without a backup: creatures, inventories, structures or progression records can depend on data that the replacement mod does not provide.
Where ASA overhaul mods are installed in 2026
A 2026 guide says the ASA mod ecosystem is on CurseForge rather than Steam Workshop. Use the current CurseForge listing for the mod you are evaluating and do not rely on an old Workshop tutorial written for ARK: Survival Evolved.

Safe installation checklist
- Pick one overhaul. Decide which single-player profile or server will use it; remove other overhaul projects from that profile.
- Open the live CurseForge page. Check the file date, listed ASA game version, changelog and dependencies. If the page does not clearly support your platform, stop and ask the server administrator or author before proceeding.
- Back up your save and configuration. Copy the single-player save or server world, configuration files and cluster transfer data to a separate location.

The available summaries do not verify the same status for ARK Supreme, Primal Chaos, Jurassic Awakening, Astraeos Ascended or ARK Primal Nemesis. Never infer console support from a PC screenshot or from the fact that a mod appears in a CurseForge search.
For a cross-platform group, check three separate things: whether the mod listing supports the console edition, whether the server host exposes that mod to console clients, and whether the current file is approved for the game build installed on each device. All three must align.
Solo, co-op or cluster: matching the mod to your server
Solo and small co-op
Solo players can tolerate experimental balance because they control the pace. Primal Chaos suits players who want immediate power, while Jurassic Awakening is easier to approach if you want familiar survival rhythms. Apply the same discipline to the other projects: use the author’s stated distribution method, retain required attribution and do not upload modified archives unless the license explicitly permits it. If a license is unclear, ask the author rather than assuming that a public download grants redistribution rights.

Common problems and recovery steps
The game loads, but creatures have strange stats
First confirm that only one overhaul is active. Conflicting stat edits are the most obvious risk when two overhauls are installed together. If the problem persists, restore the pre-installation save and test the current file in a clean profile.
A server rejects a client
Compare the server and client mod versions, load order and game build. Reinstall the exact file listed by the server administrator, then restart both the server and client. Do not keep changing several mods at once; change one variable and test again.

Check the current changelog. DOX notes, for example, rename the DOX Advanced Workstation to the DOX Advanced Crafting Station. Search the new name in the engram or crafting menu rather than assuming the station was removed.
A flyer is suddenly grounded near a boss
Some DOX boss dinosaurs can apply Shell Shock, which grounds and slows tamed fliers in the area. Bring a ground-based contingency and do not plan an encounter around an aerial escape route alone.
