For a true outdoor bullet camera, the clearest documented fits are Lorex’s C221NA, which uses a 12V adapter and records through a compatible DVR, and TP-Link’s Omada 8MP, which can use 12V DC or PoE and supports a microSD card. They suit different installations, and neither is an independently tested winner. “Plug-in” can mean low-voltage DC power, PoE over network cable, or a household-outlet-powered Wi-Fi camera; check power, camera shape, storage, and recorder compatibility together.
Which models are documented as outdoor bullet cameras?
The table compares manufacturer-stated specifications, not independent test results. The two direct bullet-camera examples have distinct recording and power requirements.
| Model | Power and recording | Outdoor and image specifications | Important buying detail |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lorex C221NA 1080p CVI Wired Bullet Camera | 12V/1A adapter; designed for 24/7 recording when connected to a compatible DVR. | 1080p; infrared night vision up to 65 feet; IP67; operating range from -40°F to 140°F. | Package includes camera, BNC/DC cable, adapter, and mounting hardware. A compatible DVR is needed for the stated continuous-recording setup. |
| TP-Link Omada 8MP Bullet PoE Security Camera | 12V DC or PoE; onboard microSD support up to 512GB. | 8MP; IP67 weather protection; IK10 vandal resistance; smart IR and color night-vision features. | microSD card is not included. TP-Link recommends Omada NVRs for best performance and cautions that some features may work suboptimally with compatible systems. |
| TP-Link Omada 5MP Bullet PoE Security Camera | 12V DC or PoE; no onboard storage. | 5MP; IP67 weather protection; IK10 vandal resistance. | The US product page labels the model “Coming Soon,” so availability is unresolved; verify current status before choosing it. |
Specifications are from the Lorex C221NA product page, TP-Link’s Omada 8MP product page, and the Omada 5MP product page. Manufacturer specifications do not guarantee performance in every installation.
What does “plug-in” mean for a security camera?
Power terms can describe different installations. A camera powered by a low-voltage DC adapter needs a suitable nearby outlet and the correct adapter. PoE sends power over an Ethernet cable, usually from a PoE switch or injector. A consumer Wi-Fi camera described as plug-in may use a household outlet and connect wirelessly to the network. These are not interchangeable: confirm the camera’s included power equipment and what your site can supply.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- DC adapter: Lorex lists a 12V/1A adapter with the C221NA.
- PoE or DC: TP-Link lists both 12V DC and PoE for the Omada 8MP.
- Outlet-powered Wi-Fi: Arlo and Feit describe outdoor plug-in cameras, but their cited product pages do not establish a bullet-camera form factor.
Choose the recording setup before buying
Use a DVR for the Lorex C221NA
Lorex describes the C221NA as capable of continuous recording when connected to a compatible DVR. Check that the DVR supports the camera before purchase; the adapter alone does not provide the stated DVR recording workflow.
Use a microSD card for the Omada 8MP
The Omada 8MP supports microSD cards up to 512GB, but the card is sold separately. TP-Link recommends its Omada NVRs for best performance and notes that some features may operate suboptimally due to compatibility issues across systems. Confirm which functions your chosen recorder supports rather than assuming every compatible connection enables every feature.

Account for the Omada 5MP’s storage and availability
The cited US page says the 5MP model has no onboard storage and is “Coming Soon.” Do not treat it as a currently available card-recording option; verify availability and the recording method for your intended setup.
How should you compare outdoor durability and night viewing?
Use each model’s own published rating and operating limits. TP-Link lists IP67 weather protection and IK10 vandal resistance for the Omada 8MP and 5MP. Lorex lists IP67 and an operating range from -40°F to 140°F for the C221NA. These are manufacturer-stated specifications, not independent confirmation of how a particular mounted camera will perform.

Resolution is only one part of identifying useful footage. Lorex lists 1080p and infrared night vision up to 65 feet; TP-Link describes the 8MP model as having smart IR and color night-vision features. The stated infrared range is a manufacturer maximum, not a guarantee of usable detail at that distance. Also consider the actual nighttime lighting, camera angle, field of view, mounting position, and recording settings at the location.

They may be alternatives if plug-in power and Wi-Fi matter more than a verified bullet housing, but the cited pages do not establish either product as a bullet camera.

Run this compatibility check before ordering
- Confirm the form factor: Make sure the exact model is a bullet camera if that housing is essential; “outdoor” and “plug-in” alone do not establish the shape.
- Match the power source: Check whether the installation can provide the required DC adapter, PoE switch or injector, or household outlet. Verify whether the needed adapter or cable is included.
- Choose where footage will be recorded: Confirm a compatible DVR for the Lorex workflow, or plan for a separately purchased microSD card for the Omada 8MP. Verify recorder support for the features you need.
- Check site conditions: Compare the specific model’s weather and impact ratings and stated temperature range with the mounting location.
- Plan the view and network: Consider mounting angle, night lighting, field of view, and Wi-Fi or wired-network reach before fixing the camera in place.
- Verify exact model status: Product pages and availability can change; in particular, the cited Omada 5MP US page says “Coming Soon.”
