Proton VPN, ExpressVPN and NordVPN have recent no-logs audit evidence cited in the available sources, but that evidence is not identical in scope or transparency. Proton links to a 2026 Securitum report; ExpressVPN links to a 2025 KPMG assessment subject to terms; and Tom’s Guide reports a February 2026 Deloitte audit for NordVPN, though the underlying report was not checked here. An audit is a time-bounded examination of specified systems—not a guarantee that a VPN can never collect data, or that using one makes you anonymous.

How to compare no-logs VPNs

“No logs” is a provider’s policy claim. An independent assessment can add evidence, but only about the systems, controls and period examined. The useful questions are: what was audited, when, what conclusion was reported, and can you inspect the report?

The evidence below supports a comparison of audit scope and certain privacy controls. It does not support ranking these VPNs for speed, streaming access or ease of use: there is no common independent performance test in the sources covered here.

Provider No-logs evidence Audit timing and recurrence Report access Relevant infrastructure or controls
Proton VPN Securitum’s reproduced statement says technical evidence reviewed did not indicate that the examined server infrastructure logged specified activity or user-identifiable connection metadata. 2026; Proton describes it as its fifth consecutive annual audit. Proton links the full report from its announcement. Proton lists IKEv2, OpenVPN and WireGuard and describes a kill switch. These features are separate from the audit conclusion.
ExpressVPN KPMG reviewed the TrustedServer system and privacy-policy claims; ExpressVPN says no issues were identified regarding technical safeguards against activity logging. Assessment of systems and claims as of February 28, 2025; announced in June 2025. Full report linked, subject to accepting KPMG’s terms. ExpressVPN describes TrustedServer as RAM-based, with data wiped when a server reboots.
NordVPN Tom’s Guide reports a Deloitte no-logs audit; the underlying report was not checked in the cited coverage. Tom’s Guide reports February 2026. Not established by the cited review; consult the underlying audit report for its access terms and scope. Tom’s Guide reports RAM-only servers. This is a secondary-source claim here.

Proton VPN: a published 2026 server-infrastructure assessment

Proton’s June 16, 2026 announcement says Securitum conducted its fifth consecutive annual no-logs audit and links to the full report. The auditor’s statement, reproduced by Proton, says: “The technical evidence reviewed during the engagement did not indicate that the examined Proton VPN server infrastructure logs users’ browsing activity, DNS queries, destination services, network traffic contents or user-identifiable connection metadata.”

The words “examined” and “technical evidence reviewed” matter: this is a conclusion about the infrastructure and evidence within the assessment’s scope, not proof about every Proton system, every future version or all possible data handling. Proton’s listed protocols—IKEv2, OpenVPN and WireGuard—and its kill switch, which it says cuts internet access if the VPN connection drops, are useful controls but do not themselves establish a no-logs policy.

ExpressVPN: KPMG assessment of TrustedServer and policy claims

ExpressVPN’s June 2025 announcement says KPMG LLP examined its TrustedServer system and privacy-policy claims as of February 28, 2025, under ISAE (UK) 3000 Type 1. ExpressVPN says KPMG provided “reasonable assurance” that the systems functioned as designed and identified no issues regarding technical safeguards against activity logging. This describes the assessment and conclusion as reported by ExpressVPN; it is not an unlimited guarantee about all systems or later operations.

ExpressVPN describes TrustedServer as RAM-based, with data wiped when a server reboots. That infrastructure design is relevant context, but it is not interchangeable with an audit conclusion. ExpressVPN’s Trust Center lists audits of products, protocols and apps as well as privacy; not every security audit is evidence about a no-logs policy.

NordVPN: recent audit claim reported by Tom’s Guide

Tom’s Guide’s NordVPN review reports that Deloitte audited NordVPN’s no-logs policy in February 2026 and that its servers are RAM-only. Those are reviewer-reported claims in the cited coverage; the underlying Deloitte report was not examined here, so its precise scope, conclusion and public access terms are not established by this comparison. Treat RAM-only infrastructure as a design feature, not proof by itself that logging is impossible.

What a no-logs audit does—and does not—tell you

What it can support

  • A scoped independent assessment can provide evidence about whether specified systems and controls matched a provider’s claims during the period assessed.
  • A report’s scope and availability help readers judge how directly they can verify the conclusion.
  • Infrastructure choices such as RAM-based servers can be relevant to data retention, but do not substitute for a policy assessment.

What it cannot establish here

  • These sources do not establish that any provider is technically incapable of collecting data, or that its future systems will operate identically.
  • They do not establish a controlled, comparable speed or streaming ranking, nor current access to any named streaming service.
  • They do not show that a VPN makes a user anonymous. A VPN routes a connection through its provider; websites and accounts can still associate activity with a person who signs in or otherwise identifies themselves.

Proton’s provider-authored comparison page can help identify feature questions, but it is not neutral corroboration of competitors’ claims and notes limits on access to some competitors’ reports. Verify an individual provider’s own report and current policy rather than treating a vendor comparison table as independent evidence: Proton’s comparison page.

  • A More Responsive Experience: Enjoy smooth gaming, video streaming, and live feeds simultaneously. OFDMA makes your Wi-Fi stronger by allowing multiple clients to share one band at the same time, cutting latency and jitter.²
  • Expanded Wi-Fi Coverage: 4 high-gain external antennas and Beamforming technology combine to extend strong, reliable, Wi-Fi throughout your home.
  • Improved Battery Life: Target Wake Time helps your devices to communicate efficiently while consuming less power.
  • Improved Cooling Design: No heat ups, no throttles. A larger heat sink and redefined case design cools the WiFi 6 system and enables your network to stay at top speeds in more versatile environments.

Which should you choose?

  • Choose based on audit transparency and scope: Proton links a full 2026 Securitum report; ExpressVPN links a KPMG report with access subject to terms; the cited NordVPN review reports an audit, but its underlying report was not checked here.
  • Separate privacy evidence from practical fit: protocol support, device limits, price, renewal terms, support and streaming needs are separate decision points. Comparable current information for all three is not established here, so check each provider’s current documentation for your region before subscribing.
  • Read the report, not just the headline: check which systems and dates it covers, the auditor’s exact conclusion, and any stated access conditions.
