Blur, OpenSea and LooksRare are the practical Ethereum marketplaces to compare after Blur enters your shortlist. Blur remains oriented toward high-volume Ethereum trading; OpenSea offers broad collection coverage and publishes clear fee terms; LooksRare is another venue to check when a specific collection is active there. None can be named the universal winner because current listings, bids, order depth and execution differ by collection and change continuously.
Choose the venue that supports the collection you want, shows enough executable liquidity, and produces the lowest total cost after marketplace fees, creator earnings, gas and any third-party charges. The comparison below uses fee terms and descriptions available on October 13, 2026; open the linked platform documentation and transaction preview immediately before signing because terms can change.
Which Ethereum NFT marketplaces belong on your shortlist?
The strongest shortlist is deliberately small:
- Blur: Keep it in consideration if you trade Ethereum NFTs frequently or in volume. A current comparison describes it as an Ethereum marketplace oriented to high-volume trading, but the available evidence does not establish a marketplace-wide liquidity or execution lead.
- OpenSea: Use it as a broad alternative for finding collections and comparing listings. Its Help Center currently lists a 1% NFT-sale fee, a 10% fee for minting in a primary drop and 0% for swaps, while warning that fees can change and that third-party charges may apply.
- LooksRare: Check it for the exact collection you want. A secondary 2026 comparison reports a 0.5% protocol fee on V2 trades; confirm the figure on current platform terms before treating it as your cost.
These are options to investigate, not a fixed ranking. The available material does not provide comparable, same-collection live volume, floor depth, bid depth or execution measurements. A marketplace that looks cheapest in a fee table can still be more expensive if the listing you need is absent, the best bid is too low, or your transaction fails and consumes gas.

What “best” should mean for an Ethereum trader
“Best” is a decision based on your intended collection and transaction, not a permanent award. Evaluate each venue against five questions:
- Collection and chain: Is the exact contract and collection available on Ethereum, rather than a similarly named item on another network?
- Executable liquidity: Can you actually buy, sell or accept an offer at a price you would accept? Inspect current floor listings, individual bids and order depth on the marketplace itself.
- Total cost: What remains after the platform fee, creator earnings, Ethereum gas and any third-party provider charge?
- Workflow: Does the current interface support the action you need, such as a single purchase, accepting an offer, a bulk listing or a sweep? Confirm each feature in current documentation instead of assuming that a marketing label means it is available for every collection.
- Safety and control: Can you verify the URL, collection contract and wallet prompt before signing? A low displayed fee is not a bargain if you approve the wrong contract or send assets to a scammer.
Because liquidity is collection-specific, record the listing price, best bid, quantity available and expiration at the moment you compare venues. Do not treat an unadjusted volume number from one platform as comparable market demand; no independent, same-collection volume figure was verified for this comparison.
Marketplace comparison
| Marketplace | Ethereum positioning | Fee evidence available for this comparison | What to verify before trading |
|---|---|---|---|
| Blur | Ethereum marketplace described as oriented to high-volume trading | No current fee figure was established in the cited material | Current fee settings, collection liquidity, bids, order depth and the exact transaction preview |
| OpenSea | Broad marketplace alternative for listings and collection coverage | 1% NFT sales; 10% primary-drop minting; 0% swaps, with possible third-party fees; terms can change | Whether creator earnings are enforced or optional, gas and provider charges, and the current fee shown at checkout |
| LooksRare | Ethereum marketplace to check for a specific collection | 0.5% V2 protocol fee reported by a secondary 2026 comparison; confirm on current terms | That the collection is on the relevant version, the current protocol fee, available orders and the final wallet prompt |
The OpenSea figures come from its official fee help article observed in 2026. They are platform-published terms, not a guarantee that the same numbers will apply to every transaction in the future.

Blur is the most natural first check for a trader who values a high-volume Ethereum workflow. The available comparison characterizes it as an Ethereum marketplace aimed at high-volume trading. That description is useful for identifying its intended audience, but it does not prove that Blur has the deepest liquidity, the fastest execution or the best price for your collection.
How to evaluate a Blur trade
- Open the official Blur site directly, not a link received in a direct message.
- Search for the exact collection and confirm its Ethereum contract address.
- Compare the displayed floor, individual listings, bids and quantity available with at least one other venue.
- Check the current fee and creator-earnings treatment in the order or transaction preview.
- Review every wallet approval and transaction before signing, including any first-use token or contract approval.
If the collection has thin orders on Blur, a lower nominal fee does not compensate for a worse fill. Conversely, if Blur shows the order you need at an acceptable price and the preview confirms the expected charges, its high-volume orientation may fit your workflow.
OpenSea: the broad comparison point
OpenSea is useful as a reference venue because its Help Center states specific fee categories. The current article lists a 1% fee on NFT sales, a 10% fee for minting in a primary drop and 0% for swaps. OpenSea also says third-party provider fees can still apply and that fees may change at any time. Treat each number as a platform term observed in 2026, not as a permanent market rule.

Creator earnings are separate from the marketplace fee
OpenSea explains that creator earnings can be enforced or optional depending on collection settings. Therefore, a 1% marketplace fee is not the complete deduction from a sale. Look for the creator-earnings line in the listing or offer flow and include it in your calculation. Do not assume that two marketplaces showing the same NFT will apply the same creator-earnings rule.

Use OpenSea when it has the collection and the listing or offer you can execute, and when its full preview is competitive after creator earnings and gas. Its broad coverage can make discovery and cross-checking easier, but coverage alone does not establish better execution for every collection.
LooksRare: verify the version and the live order
A 2026 DappAtlas comparison reports a 0.5% protocol fee on LooksRare V2 trades. That is secondary reporting and requires confirmation against current LooksRare terms. The V2 qualifier matters: make sure the order you are viewing belongs to the version covered by the fee and that the current interface still applies that rate.
A safe LooksRare check
- Confirm the collection contract and Ethereum network.
- Identify whether the order is a V2 trade and read the current protocol-fee disclosure.
- Check creator earnings, gas and any provider charge in the final preview.
- Compare the executable price and order quantity with Blur and OpenSea before signing.
The reported 0.5% figure can make LooksRare worth checking, but a fee percentage by itself says nothing about the availability of the exact token or the price at which you can exit.
How to compare liquidity and execution without misleading volume claims
No reliable, same-collection liquidity dataset was established for these venues. You can still make a disciplined, transaction-level comparison:
- Choose one collection and one action. A purchase, a sale, an offer acceptance and a multi-item sweep have different execution requirements.
- Capture the executable side. For a purchase, record the cheapest listings and how many are available at each price. For a sale, record the highest bids and their quantities.
- Check order freshness and expiration. An attractive order that expires before you sign is not usable liquidity.
- Compare the final preview. Include marketplace fee, creator earnings, gas and third-party charges rather than comparing headline prices.
- Recheck immediately before signing. Listings can disappear and bids can be filled while you are comparing tabs.
Do not call one venue “the deepest” or “the most liquid” from a single floor snapshot. Liquidity can differ by trait, token number, price band and time of day.

Calculate the total cost, not just the marketplace percentage
Use this calculation for every candidate order:
Total cost to buyer or seller = NFT price + marketplace fee + creator earnings + gas + applicable third-party fee.
For a sale, subtract deductions from the sale proceeds; for a purchase, add them to the amount you must fund. Creator earnings and gas are distinct from OpenSea’s marketplace fee, and the same separation is useful when comparing other venues.
| Transaction activity | Possible cost components to inspect |
|---|---|
| Buying a listed NFT | NFT price, marketplace fee, creator earnings where applicable, Ethereum gas and any third-party fee |
| Accepting an offer | Creator earnings where applicable, marketplace fee if shown, Ethereum gas and any third-party fee |
| Listing or changing an order | Any required token or contract approval gas, order-related gas shown by the wallet and marketplace terms |
| Transferring an NFT | Ethereum gas; the transfer itself is separate from a marketplace sale fee |
| Minting in an OpenSea primary drop | OpenSea’s listed 10% primary-drop minting fee, mint price, Ethereum gas and any applicable third-party charge |
| Swapping on OpenSea | OpenSea’s listed 0% swap fee, possible third-party fee and Ethereum gas |
The OpenSea fee article is the source for the listed 1%, 10% and 0% categories; check the live checkout because the platform says terms can change. Do not convert these percentages into a universal ranking: creator settings, gas and order prices can outweigh a small protocol-fee difference.
Ethereum gas: the variable cost traders often miss
Ethereum gas is paid to network validators, not to OpenSea. OpenSea says gas may be required for purchases, transfers, minting, accepting offers and first-use approvals. The amount varies with network conditions and the transaction’s computation, so a fee preview is more useful than a static estimate.
Read OpenSea’s gas-fee explanation before funding a trade. Its Help Center also warns that gas payment does not guarantee success: “When you pay gas fees, the payment only guarantees your transaction to be processed. It does not guarantee that the transaction will succeed.” A failed transaction can therefore consume gas without transferring the NFT, and OpenSea says that payment is non-refundable.
Before you approve a transaction
- Confirm the network is Ethereum and the wallet address or contract matches the intended marketplace and collection.
- Read the wallet’s maximum spend, token approval and gas fields rather than relying on the marketplace page alone.
- Ensure the wallet has enough native ETH for gas in addition to the NFT purchase or offer amount.
- Stop if the prompt asks for an unexpected transfer, unlimited approval you did not intend, or a different contract from the one you checked.
A repeatable workflow for choosing a marketplace
- Define the trade. Write down the collection, token or quantity, maximum total spend, desired execution time and whether you are buying, selling or accepting an offer.
- Verify the collection. Use the marketplace’s collection page and confirm the Ethereum contract address. Similar names and copied artwork are common scam signals.
- Open all three candidates. Check Blur, OpenSea and LooksRare where the collection is supported; do not assume every venue carries every order.
- Record executable orders. Note floor listings, best bids, depth at your price and order expiration.
- Inspect fee treatment. Add the current marketplace fee, creator earnings, gas estimate and any third-party charge shown in the preview.
- Choose the best executable total. Prefer the order that meets your price and timing requirements after all costs, not the platform with the lowest advertised percentage.
- Connect only through the official domain. Bookmark it or type it yourself; ignore unsolicited links and direct messages.
- Simulate the wallet review. Read token approvals, recipient addresses, amounts and gas. Reject anything that differs from your intended action.
- Sign once the order is still valid. Recheck the listing or bid immediately before confirmation because another trader may have taken it.
- Save the transaction hash. Use the wallet or block explorer record to verify whether the transaction confirmed, failed or remains pending.
Creator earnings and royalties change the answer
Creator earnings are a collection-level deduction, not a substitute for the marketplace fee. OpenSea states that earnings may be enforced or optional depending on collection settings. When comparing venues, inspect the exact collection’s treatment on each platform and include the amount in your net proceeds or acquisition cost.

A marketplace with a lower protocol fee can produce a higher total deduction if the collection’s creator-earnings setting differs. Conversely, a higher platform fee may still be cheaper for a particular order if its listing price or gas requirement is lower. Use the transaction preview as the final authority for the order you are about to sign.

OpenSea warns about fake buyers who use screenshots or direct messages to claim that a sale failed. A screenshot is not proof of settlement; verify the transaction in your wallet or on a block explorer. OpenSea says it will not initiate a social-media direct message asking you to send funds to resolve a transaction failure.
- Navigate to marketplaces through an official, saved domain.
- Never send ETH or an NFT to “unlock” a sale or fix a failed transaction because someone contacted you privately.
- Match the collection contract, token ID and recipient shown in the wallet to the details you intended.
- Use a separate wallet or account for experimentation if your risk policy calls for it, and keep only the funds needed for the intended transaction in the signing wallet.
- Remember that a hardware wallet can protect private-key custody but cannot verify a malicious contract or prevent phishing by itself.
For readers evaluating self-custody devices, ethereum.org’s NFT wallet directory identifies wallets that support Ethereum NFTs and tracks hardware-wallet support. It is a directory, not a guarantee that any listed device is required or immune to transaction risk.
Which marketplace fits common trading situations?
You trade frequently or in larger batches
Start with Blur because the available comparison specifically positions it for high-volume Ethereum trading. Still compare the exact collection’s depth and current total cost; the orientation alone does not prove better execution.
You need broad discovery and a clearly documented fee schedule
Check OpenSea first, then compare the same collection elsewhere. Its published 1% sale, 10% primary-drop minting and 0% swap categories make the fee components easy to identify, but creator earnings, gas and third-party charges remain part of the real total.
Recommended Free Tools
You found the best executable order on LooksRare
Use LooksRare when the collection’s live order is better for your intended trade and the current interface confirms the applicable V2 protocol fee. Treat the 0.5% figure as a lead from secondary reporting until the platform confirms it.
You are choosing solely by the smallest percentage
Pause and recalculate. A percentage comparison omits gas, creator earnings, third-party fees, missing inventory and failed-transaction risk. The best venue is the one that completes the intended trade at an acceptable net result.
Bottom line for Ethereum traders after Blur
Keep Blur, OpenSea and LooksRare in a live, collection-specific comparison rather than declaring one permanent winner. Blur is the high-volume-oriented candidate; OpenSea is the broad reference point with currently published fee categories; LooksRare is worth checking when its collection-level order is competitive. Verify chain, contract, executable depth, creator earnings, gas and the final wallet prompt every time. Marketplace fees are only one line in the cost, and a transaction that fails can still consume gas.
