There is no single mouse sensitivity or crosshair that is best for every FPS duel. Game scales, roles, aiming styles, and display setups differ. For a useful starting point, compare sensitivity by the physical distance needed to turn 360 degrees, then tune one setting at a time in the game you actually play. Aimlabs gives 35–75 cm/360 as a starting range for VALORANT and Counter-Strike 2 (CS2)—a publisher recommendation, not a proven optimum. Choose a crosshair that stays visible in your usual play environments, and test it in-game rather than assuming a popular profile will suit you.

What “best” means in an FPS duel

A useful setting is one you can control consistently in the specific game and role you play. Sensitivity affects how much physical mouse movement produces a given in-game turn; a crosshair affects how easily you can see and place your aim point. Both are personal settings, and neither can be separated from the game’s mechanics, the player’s movement and aiming style, or the display configuration.

Raw sensitivity numbers are not a dependable way to compare two games. Each game may use its own scale, so the same number can produce very different movement. Even DPI—the mouse’s reported sensitivity setting—does not make two games’ in-game sensitivity values directly comparable. A more practical common measure is cm/360: how many centimeters the mouse must travel to rotate the view through 360 degrees.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

That measure helps you carry a physical turn distance between games, but it does not establish that a particular distance is right for you. A setting should be judged by whether you can make the turns and corrections your game demands and repeat them comfortably. Likewise, a crosshair’s popularity or appearance is not evidence that it wins more fights.

Think of sensitivity and crosshair as related but separate choices. Sensitivity determines how the view responds to your hand movement; the crosshair is a visual reference in the scene. A change to one can affect how aiming feels, but adjusting both at once makes it harder to know what helped. If a duel feels inconsistent, first identify whether the problem is turning distance, stopping on target, crosshair visibility, or something outside these settings.

How to compare sensitivity between games

Use physical turn distance, not an unconverted in-game number. Aimlabs’ guide uses cm/360 and lists 35–75 cm/360 as a starting range for VALORANT and CS2. The source does not expose the guide’s publication year, and the interval should be treated as a trial bracket from a training-service publisher—not as a universal range, a controlled finding, or an independently established optimum.

Other games, especially games with different aiming or movement demands, should not automatically inherit that range. Start by recording what you currently use and how it feels in the game at hand. If you want to compare games, measure the physical distance your current settings require for a full turn in each game. A game-specific sensitivity converter may be useful, but this guide does not provide a verified conversion formula or converter; check that any tool you use supports both games and the relevant settings.

Matching cm/360 answers one narrow question: how far you move the mouse for a full view rotation. It does not guarantee the games will feel identical. A setting can feel comfortable in a tactical, click-focused duel and less comfortable in a game with more tracking or movement-heavy engagements. Treat the physical measurement as a shared reference point, then test the setting in the game’s own situations.

Measure your current cm/360

  1. Record the setup. Write down the game, mouse DPI, in-game sensitivity, and any other aiming setting that materially changes mouse response. Keep the display resolution and game mode noted as well so you can recognize when a later setup change affects what you see.
  2. Choose a repeatable starting position. In a safe practice area, place the mouse at a clear point on the pad and face a recognizable direction. Keep the mouse on the same surface and avoid lifting it during the measurement.
  3. Move until the view completes one rotation. Move the mouse in a straight, comfortable path until the view has turned 360 degrees and is facing the original direction. Measure the mouse’s physical travel in centimeters. This distance is your approximate cm/360 for that setup.
  4. Repeat the measurement. Do another turn from the same starting conditions. If the distances differ noticeably, the measurement was not consistent enough to use as a precise comparison. Treat the result as a practical baseline rather than a laboratory measurement.
  5. Keep the mouse movement possible. A large mouse pad is optional, but a clear surface helps when you are checking a long physical turn. You do not need a special product to tune sensitivity; a ruler or tape measure can help record distance, but is not essential.

When comparing games, use the same mouse DPI and physical measurement method if practical, and record each game’s result separately. The goal is to compare the physical turn distance, not to copy a raw sensitivity value. A matching cm/360 can make turning distance comparable, but does not guarantee identical aim feel: the games may differ in movement, aiming situations, or other settings.

Keep the conditions steady while measuring. Use the same mouse, surface, and DPI where practical, and note any change rather than relying on memory. If you lift or reposition the mouse during a turn, the physical distance you record no longer represents one continuous movement. A large pad can make a long measurement easier, but buying one is not a requirement: use the usable space you already have, and treat your result as approximate if the surface limits the measurement.

A practical sensitivity calibration routine

Do not make repeated large changes based on one missed shot or one unusually good round. A short, consistent practice routine makes it easier to notice whether a setting is comfortable and repeatable. The steps below are a practical self-test, not a validated training protocol or a promise of improved duel results.

1. Establish a baseline

Record the current game, DPI, in-game sensitivity, and measured cm/360 if you want to compare physically. Also note your role and the kind of engagements you are tuning for. A player who mostly takes deliberate, click-focused duels may evaluate movement and corrections differently from someone who spends more time tracking targets or taking movement-heavy fights. These are decision factors, not proof that one role requires a specific numerical sensitivity.

Write down what currently feels difficult before making changes. For example, note whether you struggle to make a broad turn, stop accurately after turning, or make a small correction once your crosshair is near the target. These observations do not diagnose a cause by themselves, but they give you a consistent question to revisit during each test.

2. Choose a trial bracket, not a final answer

For VALORANT or CS2, you can use Aimlabs’ 35–75 cm/360 interval as a place to begin testing. It is broad and publisher-supplied. It is not a rule that every player must stay within, and it should not be carried over to an unnamed game as though it had been validated there. If you already have a setting that feels controlled, use it as your baseline rather than changing just to match a recommendation.

The range is not a list of discrete settings to copy, nor does it say which point within the interval is best for a given role. If you are already comfortable outside it, the figure alone is not a reason to make a change. For a different game, find a suitable game-specific starting point or continue from your own baseline; do not present the VALORANT/CS2 interval as an established standard for every FPS.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

3. Test the same situations

Use the same brief practice routine each time you evaluate a setting. Include the kinds of movements you need in your actual game: turning toward a target, stopping on a target, and making a small correction. Keep the routine and game conditions as similar as you reasonably can from one test to the next. The point is not to produce a scientific score; it is to avoid comparing a setting tested in one kind of situation with another tested under different conditions.

Notice both the first movement and the correction after it. A sensitivity can make it easy to turn quickly but feel harder to stop where intended, or make small corrections feel comfortable while larger turns require more physical travel. That trade-off is something to observe in your own play, not a universal rule about high or low sensitivity. Use the situations your game actually asks you to handle rather than judging solely by how a setting feels while moving the mouse on a desktop.

4. Change one variable in small steps

If the baseline feels too fast or too slow, make a small adjustment to in-game sensitivity, then repeat the same routine. Avoid changing DPI, sensitivity, crosshair, and display settings all at once: if the result feels different, you will not know which change mattered. Record each tested value and a brief observation—for example, whether turns, stopping, and small corrections felt manageable. That log is a practical aid, not a performance benchmark.

There is no sourced universal step size for these adjustments. Make a change small enough that you can compare it with the previous value, and avoid bouncing between extremes after a single difficult round. If a new setting feels unfamiliar, compare it through the same practice routine before deciding whether to keep it. 5. Settle on a repeatable value

Keep the value that you can use comfortably and consistently for your role and game. Do not treat a professional player’s raw sensitivity as a prescription: without translating the game’s scale and understanding the player’s setup and needs, the number does not tell you whether it will suit your own play. Revisit the setting if you change games, DPI, or other relevant setup conditions, but avoid changing it after every difficult duel.

It is also reasonable for your settings to differ between games. The community question “Is it okay to use different sens across multiple games?” has a practical answer: yes, if the different games call for settings that you can control comfortably. If you prefer a similar physical turn distance, compare cm/360 and test the result, but there is no requirement that every game share a raw sensitivity number or an identical feel.

How to choose a crosshair

Start with legibility. The crosshair should remain visible against the backgrounds you usually encounter and should let you see what you need to aim at. There is no evidence here that one shape, color, or size is best for all players or that a particular code improves duel win rates. A crosshair that looks clear in a menu or on one map may be harder to distinguish in another environment.

  • Check visibility in your actual game. Try the crosshair against the backgrounds and situations you commonly face. If it blends in or obscures too much of the target, adjust it and compare again.
  • Adjust deliberately. Change one feature at a time where the game allows it. This makes it easier to tell whether a change improved visibility or simply made the design different.
  • Keep alternatives. Save a second profile before experimenting if the game supports profiles. You can compare the alternatives in-game and restore the original instead of trying to reconstruct it from memory.
  • Recheck after display changes. Resolution changes can affect how a crosshair appears. Check its size and visibility after changing display resolution rather than assuming its old appearance is preserved.

When comparing two designs, consider visibility, how much of the target each design obscures, and whether you can find the center quickly in the situations you play. Those are personal checks, not a formula that selects a winner. A bright or distinctive color may help on one background and be less clear on another, so test the design in representative parts of the game rather than choosing by screenshot alone.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A saved alternate is useful even if you ultimately return to your original. Preserve a known profile, make a single change to another, and inspect both in the same setting. If the game supports copying or importing a profile, treat that as a convenient way to try a configuration—not as proof that it is suited to your display, preferences, or game.

Riot Games’ Patch Notes 4.05, dated March 22, 2022, document importing and exporting crosshair profiles through automatically generated codes. A code is a convenient way to transfer a profile, not a universal recommendation. Import it as a candidate, inspect it in your own settings, and compare its visibility in the game rather than assuming it is suitable for every player or display.

Separate horizontal and vertical tuning can help you shape the crosshair to your preference, while custom color gives you another way to distinguish it from the scene. Use these controls to solve a specific visibility or aiming-reference problem, not simply to add complexity. If you have saved profiles, reserve one as your known baseline and use another for experiments.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The documented profile limit also makes it possible to keep multiple candidates rather than repeatedly overwriting one design. You might reserve a profile for your current setup and another for a test, then compare them in play. The available controls tell you what the game lets you configure; they do not tell you which color, line arrangement, or imported code will work best for you. Check the current interface because patch documentation records capabilities at the time of that patch, not a guarantee that every menu or control is unchanged.

CS2: account for resolution-aware crosshair sizing

A Counter-Strike 2 update dated September 23, 2026, states that crosshair thickness and length are specified in pixels, and that pixel counts are rescaled when display resolution changes to preserve proportional appearance. That means the displayed crosshair settings relate to the resolution: changing resolution can trigger rescaling rather than leaving the same pixel counts unchanged.

After a resolution change, inspect the crosshair in the game and confirm that its visible size and legibility still suit you. Do not assume a pixel value has the same visual result across every resolution or display setup. The cited update documents this behavior; it does not identify a best thickness, length, or crosshair design.

If you are comparing CS2 crosshair settings, note the resolution you used for each test. This matters because a resolution change can affect the sizing behavior described in the update, which complicates a visual comparison made under different display conditions. Check the visible result after changing resolution rather than relying only on the setting’s numeric value.

Keep refresh rate and FPS separate from mouse sensitivity

Mouse sensitivity is not the same setting as display refresh rate or game frame rate. Riot Games Support’s article on refresh rate and VSYNC, dated January 8, 2024, distinguishes refresh rate from FPS and gives the VALORANT VSYNC path as Settings → Video → Graphics Quality. If the display feels different after changing video settings, check those settings separately rather than trying to compensate by changing mouse sensitivity.

The article’s Windows and driver directions may age as software changes. Use the current Windows, graphics-driver, and game interfaces for your setup when checking refresh-rate behavior. Keep this as a separate troubleshooting branch: first verify the display and game video configuration, then evaluate mouse control with sensitivity held constant.

In other words, do not use mouse sensitivity to compensate automatically for a display change. Verify refresh rate and FPS as separate settings, then test your mouse control with the video configuration held steady. Riot’s support guidance is specific to its game and may need to be checked against current software menus, so avoid assuming the same menu path applies to every FPS.

Quick decision checklist

  • Are you comparing raw sensitivity numbers from different games? Stop and compare measured cm/360 instead.
  • Are you tuning VALORANT or CS2? Treat Aimlabs’ 35–75 cm/360 guidance as a starting range only, not an answer everyone should adopt.
  • Can you repeat the same turns, stops, and corrections comfortably at the current value? Use that observation to guide small adjustments.
  • Is the crosshair visible in the situations you actually play? Compare saved alternatives in-game rather than relying on someone else’s code or profile.
  • Did the display resolution or video configuration change? Recheck crosshair appearance and video settings separately before adjusting sensitivity.
  • Are you considering a professional player’s value? Treat it as that player’s setup, not a universal prescription.
  • Are you changing multiple settings at once? Restore a known baseline and test one variable at a time so you can tell what changed.
  • Are you measuring a full turn? Keep the mouse on the same surface, avoid lifting it, and repeat the movement to check that your estimate is consistent.

What the evidence does—and does not—establish

The named sources support a practical approach to measuring physical turn distance, an Aimlabs starting interval for VALORANT and CS2, and specific documented crosshair controls in those games. They do not establish a universal best sensitivity, a universally winning crosshair, or a quantified improvement in duel win rate. The 35–75 cm/360 recommendation is attributed to Aimlabs, not to an independent controlled study. Use it as an initial point for personal testing, then make the decision from repeatable use in your own game.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you set the sensitivity between games so that it’s the same?

Compare the physical distance needed for a 360-degree turn, measured in cm/360, rather than copying the same in-game sensitivity number. Record each game’s DPI and settings, measure each game separately, and test the result in play. Matching cm/360 aligns physical turn distance; it does not guarantee identical aim feel across games.

Is it okay to use different sens across multiple games?

Yes. Different games and roles can call for different settings, and there is no requirement to use one raw number everywhere. If you want a common starting point, compare cm/360, then keep the setting that feels comfortable and repeatable in each game.

What is the best cm/360 for VALORANT or CS2?

There is no proven universal best. Aimlabs lists 35–75 cm/360 as a starting range for VALORANT and CS2, but that is publisher guidance, not a controlled finding or a guarantee that every player should use a value inside it. Treat it as a trial bracket and evaluate your own baseline.

Should I copy a professional player’s sensitivity or crosshair code?

You can try one, but treat it as a candidate rather than a prescription. A raw sensitivity number may not translate across game scales or match your setup, and a crosshair code does not ensure visibility in your game environments. Save your current settings, test the alternate, and compare them under the same conditions.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What should I check after changing display resolution?

Inspect your crosshair in-game. A Counter-Strike 2 update dated September 23, 2026, says crosshair thickness and length use pixels and are rescaled when resolution changes. In VALORANT, also check the current video and display configuration separately from mouse sensitivity; Riot Games Support distinguishes refresh rate from FPS.

The Bottom Line

There is no universal best sensitivity or crosshair for FPS duels. Compare sensitivity by cm/360, use Aimlabs’ 35–75 cm/360 guidance only as a VALORANT/CS2 starting bracket, and change one setting at a time. Pick a crosshair that stays legible in your game, preserve alternatives when possible, and check it again after resolution changes. Comfort and repeatability in your own game matter more than copying a popular number or code.
