For most 2026 servers, start with RHS – Status Quo for a milsim foundation, add ACE All in One when realism is the priority, and use Game Master Enhanced or Game Master FX for live mission control. Choose Project Redline for modern vehicles and aviation, Overthrow for a persistent resistance campaign, or ArmaField for fast, Battlefield-style objectives. Add Workshop IDs to config.json, then fully restart the server process; an in-game restart does not reload the mod list.
These recommendations reflect repeated guidance in third-party 2026 server guides, not an official Bohemia Interactive ranking. Official configuration-field definitions and per-mod performance figures were not confirmed, so test every stack after game or mod updates.

No guide established a reliable download-size or RAM number for an individual mod. Treat the final combination of mods, map, player count and mission as the unit you must benchmark.
What each leading mod contributes
RHS – Status Quo: the general-purpose milsim base
RHS – Status Quo is repeatedly described as the usual starting point for milsim servers. Its practical advantage is breadth: mission makers have more room to design modern-war scenarios, while players receive clearer faction identity. It is a sensible first installation when your community wants structured military play but does not yet need a narrowly defined campaign system.

Use it as a foundation rather than assuming it completes a server by itself. Decide which factions, maps and scenarios your missions actually require, then add only the supporting mods that those missions use.
ACE All in One: realism before convenience
ACE All in One is aimed at realism-focused play. A commonly suggested realism stack pairs it with RHS – Status Quo and Game Master Enhanced: RHS supplies the broader modern-war content, ACE supplies the realism emphasis, and Game Master Enhanced gives an administrator tools to stage and supervise the session.

Game Master Enhanced and Game Master FX: live control
Game Master Enhanced focuses on live mission editing and administrator tools. Game Master FX is recommended alongside it when the organiser wants additional effects and dynamic event control. Together they are most useful for communities that treat an administrator as a live director: spawning or adjusting encounters, controlling event pacing and adapting a scenario to the players’ actions.
They are not substitutes for a stable mission. Build a repeatable baseline scenario first, then add live controls so that an administrator can recover from an unexpected player action without turning every session into an improvised test.
Project Redline – Core: modern vehicles without a full realism stack
Project Redline – Core targets servers that want contemporary vehicles and aviation without adopting an entire realism-oriented setup. The UH-60 is cited as an example of the sort of modern aviation content it can provide. It fits communities that care more about vehicle variety and combined-arms action than detailed simulation procedures.

Check the mod’s dependencies and the mission’s vehicle slots together. A vehicle mod can download successfully yet remain unusable if the scenario does not define its assets or if another mod changes the same faction or equipment tables.
Overthrow: a campaign that persists between sessions
Overthrow is built around persistent resistance warfare, territory control and progression. It is the strongest choice on this list when the server’s appeal is an ongoing campaign rather than a sequence of independent rounds.
Persistence changes administration. Establish backup and rollback procedures, document who can reset a campaign, and test a restoration before advertising long-term progression. A short-lived public test is safer than making an unverified save the community’s only campaign state.
ArmaField: accessible objective rounds
ArmaField is described as a fast, Battlefield-style format with classes, squads and vehicles. It is a better match than a realism stack when players want recognisable objectives, quick redeployment and a lower barrier to entry.
Use a concise ruleset and a limited initial mod list. The format’s appeal is immediacy; burying it under unrelated realism systems can make the experience feel unlike the objective play people joined for.
KunarProvince and smaller public-server additions
KunarProvince appears in a 2026 recommended list, but the available descriptions do not establish its exact role, dependencies or performance characteristics. Treat it as content to evaluate against a particular mission rather than as a universal requirement.

For public servers, the same guide lists Bon Action Animations, Where Am I and Night Vision System as optional extras. Add these only when the community has a clear use for them. An optional convenience mod still creates another version and compatibility point for every joining player.
Choose a stack before you install anything
For a conventional milsim server
Begin with RHS – Status Quo. Add Game Master Enhanced if an administrator will run live events. Add ACE All in One only after the group agrees that the extra realism and training are worth the complexity. This order keeps the core scenario testable at each stage.

For a realism-training community
Use ACE All in One with RHS – Status Quo and Game Master Enhanced, the combination repeatedly suggested for realism-focused play. Write procedures for the features your missions actually use; do not assume that installing a realism suite automatically produces disciplined gameplay.
For vehicle and aviation events
Choose Project Redline – Core when modern vehicles and aircraft are the headline feature. Keep the rest of the stack small until you have confirmed that the mission loads, the assets appear for the intended factions and players can join with matching versions.
For a persistent resistance campaign
Choose Overthrow and treat save management as part of server operations. Agree on campaign rules, access to administrative controls and a recovery plan before the first public session.
For short, accessible objective matches
Choose ArmaField. Its class, squad and vehicle structure is aimed at rapid objective play, so a modest supporting stack is usually easier for a mixed-skill public audience than a large realism configuration.

How to add Workshop mods to a dedicated server
Reforger dedicated servers obtain listed items from the Reforger Workshop at startup. Players are then asked to download the same list when they join. Manual copying of mod files is not required for the normal Workshop workflow.
- Open the Workshop page for each mod. The mod ID is the 16-character hexadecimal GUID at the beginning of the Workshop page address. Record it exactly; one wrong character points the server at a different item or an invalid ID.
- Prepare the server’s
config.json. The relevant location is thegame.modsarray. Each array entry represents one Workshop item. Keep a backup of the working file before editing. - Use the in-game Mod Manager when possible. Enable the required mods, open its JSON tab, copy the generated JSON and paste the resulting objects into the server’s
modsarray. This is safer than guessing field names by hand. - Set the default requirement deliberately. The
modsRequiredByDefaultsetting makes listed mods required unless an individual entry setsrequiredtofalse. Decide whether a public-server extra is mandatory or optional before publishing the server. - Choose version behavior. Leaving an entry’s version empty allows automatic updates. Pin a specific version when a known-good mission must remain on that release, and plan a review before changing the pin.
- Validate the JSON. Check commas, quotation marks, brackets and duplicate entries. A syntax error can prevent the server from starting, while a valid but incorrect ID can produce a missing-content error instead.
- Stop and fully restart the server process. The
modsarray is read at process startup. The in-game restart command does not re-read the list. The first boot after adding content may take substantially longer while files download. - Join with a test client. Confirm that the server reaches the intended mission, that the client is prompted for the same Workshop items and that the mission’s factions, vehicles and tools are present before inviting the wider community.
A minimal empty structure is valid JSON and makes the target clear:

}Replace the empty array with the objects generated by the Mod Manager or by your server’s documented configuration format. Because official Bohemia Interactive field definitions were not confirmed for this edition, copying the game’s own JSON output is preferable to inventing additional keys.
Safe rollout and compatibility testing
Add only a few mods per restart
Install a small batch, boot the server, load the mission and test a client connection. If the server fails after that batch, remove the newest entries first. Adding the entire shortlist at once makes it difficult to identify the incompatible item.
Test both server and client behavior
A server can finish downloading a Workshop item while the mission still fails because of a missing dependency, a conflicting asset or an outdated scenario. Test administrator controls, ordinary-player controls, faction selection, vehicles and map transitions with at least one clean client.
Re-test after game updates
Mods can break after a Reforger update. Keep a known-good configuration, record the versions you tested and avoid updating a production server immediately before a scheduled event. If automatic updates are enabled, monitor the first restart rather than assuming the old combination remains valid.

Separate content failure from configuration failure
- Server will not start: restore the last known-good
config.json, validate the JSON and add entries back in small groups. - Server starts but a mod is missing: recheck the 16-character Workshop GUID and wait for the initial download to complete.
- Players are rejected for missing content: compare the server’s required list with the client’s download prompt and inspect any entry marked optional.
- Mission loads without expected assets: verify that the scenario actually references the mod and that faction, vehicle or map dependencies are present.
- A previously working stack fails after an update: roll back to the recorded versions where possible, then test updates on a separate instance before changing the public server.
RAM, storage and server sizing
There is no confirmed official RAM target for a modded Reforger server in the available material. One third-party guide gives a rough estimate of 8–12 GB of RAM for a server running more than 10 mods plus a custom map, and 12 GB or more for heavier loads. Those figures are anecdotal, not a Bohemia Interactive requirement, and should not be treated as a guarantee for a particular player count.

That is storage consumed by downloaded content, not a promise that the server needs the same amount of RAM. Leave room for the operating system, logs, the base game, map data and temporary download space.
- Start with the smallest stack that delivers the intended playstyle.
- Watch memory use during a full mission, not only at an empty lobby.
- Test peak moments such as vehicle-heavy assaults, live Game Master events and map transitions.
- Keep free disk space for Workshop updates; a pinned version still needs its files available locally.
- Increase resources only after measuring a reproducible bottleneck.
Platform and Workshop caveats
Console compatibility is not settled
Third-party guides conflict on Xbox and PlayStation behavior. One account says console players cannot install mods and that modded servers reject them; another says PlayStation crossplay blocks script mods. Do not promise console access to a modded server until you have tested the exact platform, crossplay setting and mod set you intend to support.
Linux claims need validation
One hosting guide says the server is a native Linux binary and that Workshop mods work in the same way as on Windows, but that claim was not corroborated by a confirmed official page. Validate the current dedicated-server package and your chosen host’s support before committing to Linux-specific deployment instructions.
Use the Reforger Workshop
Most guides identify the Reforger Workshop as the mod source. One guide instead refers to Steam Workshop, creating a source discrepancy. Follow the Workshop location exposed by the current game and Mod Manager rather than downloading arbitrary files or manually copying third-party archives.

Finding communities and testing your configuration
Server rankings are useful for discovering active communities, but they change frequently and differ between ranking pages. A page updated on 13 October 2026 listed [EU/UK 1] Pragmatic, [GER/ENG] OUTBREAK, [WCP – EU/DE] WORST CASE PARADISE, [GER/EU] VIK Europe Escalation Immersive and [OYB] Old Young Bastards. That snapshot is not a definitive popularity list and should not be read as an endorsement of any one server.
When evaluating a community, look for the mod collection, required versions, restart policy and platform rules. A server with fewer mods but a documented update process may deliver a more reliable experience than one with a larger, undocumented stack.
