The listing reports about 3,200 downloads and was last updated roughly two years before the check. Those details suggest a smaller and less recently maintained project than the leading candidates, but download count is not a quality score.
The practical issue is age. Minecraft loaders and dependency versions change, so confirm the project’s current supported Minecraft release, loader and dependency list before installing. If the latest file still targets an older release, use a matching instance rather than trying to transplant its mods into a newer profile.
How to choose by play style
For a solo crafting campaign
Start with MC War if its Files tab confirms the version you can run. Its stated objective—creating weapons, armor, missiles, nukes and ambush structures—best matches a self-directed progression campaign. Keep a backup of your world before testing large weapons or structure systems.
For an organized server
Use Takeover when you are joining the Takeover server. The server-linked requirement matters more than the general theme: every participant should install the same Minecraft version, loader and pack release that the server accepts.

Modern Warfare – Reforged has a May 2026 listing update and a clear guns-and-tanks focus, but you still need to verify the actual files. It may suit you if its current release matches your instance, but the available information does not justify claiming that it is the best pack.
Version and loader checks that prevent most failed installations
Modern war packs often fail for a mundane reason: the pack, Minecraft instance and loader do not match. Check the metadata before downloading rather than troubleshooting a broken launch afterward.
- Choose the Minecraft release first. Decide whether your group is targeting 1.20.1, 1.21.1 or an older release supported by the project. A newer number is not automatically better if the pack or server targets another release.
- Match the loader exactly. Forge and NeoForge are different loader targets. Takeover’s 1.20.1 file is listed for Forge, while its 1.21.1 option is listed for NeoForge; install the loader named beside the file you selected.
- Open the Files tab, not only the project summary. Confirm the file’s Minecraft version, loader, release date and whether it is a client pack, server pack or both.

- Keep the instance isolated. Create a separate profile for each version and loader. Do not overwrite a working vanilla or modded profile while testing.

Recreate the instance with the correct loader. The clearest example is Takeover: its listed 1.20.1 file is Forge, while its listed 1.21.1 option is NeoForge. Selecting NeoForge for the 1.20.1 file, or Forge for the 1.21.1 file, is a mismatch.
The pack launches but a server rejects the client
Confirm the server’s exact pack release, Minecraft version and loader. Takeover is explicitly tied to its server, so use the release the server operator identifies rather than assuming that the newest public file is accepted.
A candidate has no usable current file
Do not infer support from a search tag, download total or old gallery image. This is particularly important for MC War, where 1.12.2, an unresolved 1.20.1 Forge tag and a 2024 cached release appear in different records.
