For the Season 10.5 build, start with the low-resolution resource pack if storage or GPU memory is tight, reduce texture quality before cutting everything else, select the upscaler your GPU supports, and keep frame generation optional. Enable Switch Shader Compilation Mode when it is available, but test it with frame generation disabled if you use a lower-thread CPU. The October 15, 2026 follow-up patch did not introduce a universal preset or guaranteed frame-rate target, so judge the result by frame-time consistency during real team fights rather than by the menu counter.

Which Marvel Rivals patch does this guide cover?

These recommendations apply to Season 10.5, whose update began on October 9, 2026, at 09:00 UTC. NetEase scheduled the Version 20261015 follow-up for October 15 at 09:00 UTC with fixes and optimizations. Neither release published a single “best” preset or a universal FPS target, so the practical goal is stable frame times on your hardware.

After updating, restart the game once before judging performance. A patch can trigger shader work, resource changes, or driver interaction that makes the first launch feel worse than later matches.

Setting Starting choice Why and what you give up
Resource pack Low-resolution pack when storage or GPU memory is limited Reduces installation size and load pressure, but NetEase warns that visual fidelity can be lower in some scenes.
Texture quality Lower it first when the game is slow The official FAQ specifically recommends reducing settings such as texture quality when a PC meets requirements but still performs poorly. Surfaces look less detailed.
Upscaling Use the vendor option supported by your GPU; begin with a quality-oriented mode and move toward performance only if frame times remain unstable Lower render resolution can improve GPU headroom, while more aggressive modes soften fine detail.
AMD FSR 4 Use only on supported Radeon RX 9000-series cards It is the newest AMD option documented in the current graphics notes, but support depends on the GPU.
AMD FSR 3.1/FSR3 frame generation Optional; leave off while diagnosing stutter It can increase displayed smoothness, yet NetEase warns of occasional additional stutters on lower-thread CPUs when combined with Switch Shader Compilation Mode.
Switch Shader Compilation Mode Enable when the option is available NetEase says it can significantly reduce memory use and minimize in-game stuttering, especially on systems with 16 GB RAM or less. It is labeled experimental.
Anti-aliasing Use Off when chasing the most stable frame times The Version 20250110 notes added an Off option. Edges may appear more jagged.
Model detail Performance This reduces geometry workload. Objects and character detail may look simpler at distance.

How to configure the game step by step

  1. Update and restart. Install the current Season 10.5 files, including the Version 20261015 follow-up if your launcher offers it, then restart Marvel Rivals before testing.
  2. Choose the resource pack. If your drive is nearly full or your GPU has limited memory, select the low-resolution resource pack instead of the high-resolution pack. Keep the high-resolution pack only when its extra detail is worth the additional storage and memory pressure.
  3. Reduce textures. In the graphics menu, lower texture quality one level at a time. This is the first visual setting to reduce when the game is slow despite meeting the published requirements.
  4. Select an upscaler. Choose the implementation your GPU supports. Radeon RX 9000-series owners can use AMD FSR 4; systems that support AMD FSR 3.1 can test its quality and performance modes. Compare clarity in motion, not just in a static menu.
  5. Leave frame generation off for the first test. Establish a stable baseline without it. Turn it on later only if the underlying frame delivery is already consistent.
  6. Enable Switch Shader Compilation Mode. The option is experimental. Allow the game to complete its first post-update or post-driver shader compilation, then test a match after returning to the desktop and relaunching if necessary.
  7. Trim expensive effects. Set anti-aliasing to Off and model detail to Performance if team fights still produce large frame-time spikes. Restore one of these settings later if image quality is more important than headroom.
  8. Play a repeatable match segment. Use the same map area, effects-heavy fight, and camera movement when comparing changes. Record whether the hitch occurs once during compilation or repeatedly during combat.

Choosing an upscaler and frame generation

Match the upscaler to the GPU

The current notes document AMD FSR 4 support for Radeon RX 9000-series cards and AMD FSR 3.1/FSR3 frame-generation behavior. Select the vendor technology your card actually supports; an unavailable option is not a setting problem. Start with the least aggressive mode that gives your GPU enough headroom, then move toward a performance mode only when the game still misses a consistent frame time.

Judge two things separately: clarity and delivery. A mode can raise the FPS counter while making character outlines, distant effects, or text shimmer. Conversely, a slightly lower counter can feel better if it removes repeated spikes during an ultimate-heavy fight.

When to use frame generation

Frame generation is not a substitute for a stable base frame rate. First test native or upscaled rendering without generated frames. If that baseline hitches, generated frames can make the counter look higher without removing the underlying delay.

NetEase specifically warns that AMD FSR3 Frame Generation may introduce occasional additional stutters on lower-thread CPUs when it is combined with Switch Shader Compilation Mode. For that class of system, compare two separate configurations: both features off, then shader compilation mode on with frame generation still off, and finally frame generation on only if the second configuration is smooth.

Shader compilation: why the first launch can stutter

Switch Shader Compilation Mode changes when shaders are compiled. NetEase states that, when activated, shaders compile only the first time you launch after a new game version or graphics-driver update. The stated benefits are lower memory use and less in-game stuttering, with the strongest expected benefit on systems with 16 GB of RAM or less.

Because the feature is experimental, allow that first compilation to finish before comparing settings. A single hitch immediately after a patch is different from a repeatable hitch every time a new effect appears. If repeated stutter remains, test with frame generation disabled and verify the driver and Windows graphics settings described below.

Check your hardware before lowering every setting

Marvel Rivals publishes the following PC requirements. They are compatibility tiers, not promises of a fixed FPS or of identical frame times in every map and team fight.

The recommended tier is an RTX 2060 Super, RX 5700-XT, or Arc A750 paired with 16 GB of RAM. A PC near the minimum tier may need the low-resolution resource pack, reduced textures, conservative model detail, and a less demanding upscaling mode. No graphics preset can guarantee a fixed result on hardware below or near the minimum specification.

Official fixes for stutter and long loading

Install on an SSD

The Epic Games Store FAQ recommends installing the game on an SSD for a better experience. It repeats that recommendation for delays at 99% loading. Moving the installation from a hard disk to an SSD can address asset-streaming waits that graphics reductions cannot.

Clean-install the latest GPU driver

For persistent stutter, the FAQ recommends a clean installation of the latest graphics driver. Use your driver installer’s clean-install option, reboot, and let the game perform its first shader compilation again before evaluating the result.

Set Windows graphics preference to High performance

Apply the in-game CPU optimization when offered

NetEase announced a PC in-game performance optimization that improves CPU rendering. It takes effect after downloading and restarting. When the entry is available in your build, check Settings → Other, apply it, download the required files, and restart before testing.

How to compare settings without fooling yourself

There is no official benchmark table assigning an FPS gain to each individual option. Use a controlled comparison instead of assuming that a higher counter means a smoother game.

  • Frame-time consistency: Watch for repeated hitches and poor 1% lows during team fights, not only the lobby or menu counter.
  • Image clarity: Check moving character edges, distant targets, particle effects, and readable interface text.
  • GPU memory and storage pressure: Compare the high- and low-resolution resource packs on the same map and note whether texture streaming or loading improves.
  • CPU limitation: If the GPU is underused while the CPU is saturated, reducing resolution may do little; shader compilation and frame-generation interactions matter more.
  • Hardware tier: A system close to minimum specifications needs a different compromise from one at the recommended tier.
  1. Choose one repeatable combat location and disable frame generation.
  2. Run the same movement and camera sweep for several minutes.
  3. Change exactly one setting, restart only when the setting requires it, and repeat the same sequence.
  4. Keep the configuration that reduces repeated spikes without unacceptable clarity loss.
  5. After the baseline is stable, test frame generation separately and keep it only if perceived smoothness improves without new hitches or distracting artifacts.

Extra checks when performance changes after a patch

Do not compare a pre-patch replay with a post-patch match and assume the graphics menu caused every difference. Start from a known state: confirm the game finished downloading, restart once, and let the first shader pass complete. Then record the same combat route with the same resource pack and upscaler. This separates one-time compilation work from a setting that affects every frame.

Storage pressure can also change the best compromise. The high-resolution pack uses more space and can increase memory pressure, while the low-resolution pack reduces overall installation size at the cost of fidelity in some cases. If a drive is close to full, moving the game to an SSD with adequate free space is a more useful first step than repeatedly lowering anti-aliasing.

When the GPU is the limiting component, texture quality, resource-pack choice, and upscaling are the highest-value tests. When the CPU is limiting, lowering render resolution may barely change combat performance. In that case, prioritize shader compilation mode, the Windows High-performance profile, the in-game CPU-rendering optimization, and keeping frame generation off until the base render is consistent.

Restore quality gradually after solving the main problem. Raise model detail or anti-aliasing one step, replay the same sequence, and keep the change only if frame-time spikes do not return. This produces a profile tailored to your system instead of an unnecessarily blurry image.

Quick troubleshooting by symptom

Symptom Most useful next action
Low FPS everywhere Lower texture quality, choose a less demanding upscaling mode, and use Performance model detail. Check whether the GPU is below the recommended tier.
Stutters when new effects appear Enable Switch Shader Compilation Mode, complete the first post-update compilation, and retest with frame generation disabled.
More stutter after enabling frame generation Turn it off, especially on a lower-thread CPU, and compare the stable base-rendering configuration.
Long waits at 99% loading Install the game on an SSD and verify that the drive has at least the required free space.
Performance is poor despite meeting requirements Lower textures, clean-install the latest GPU driver, set Windows Graphics to High performance, and check Settings → Other for the CPU-rendering optimization.
Image looks too soft Move the upscaler toward a quality mode, restore model detail or anti-aliasing one step at a time, or use the high-resolution resource pack if storage and GPU memory allow it.

Do you need the high-resolution texture pack?

No. The low-resolution resource pack is the sensible performance-first choice when installation size, streaming, or GPU memory is constrained. NetEase says it reduces overall installation size compared with the high-resolution pack, with reduced visual fidelity in some cases. Keep the high-resolution pack only when you have the space and prefer sharper assets over additional headroom.

A practical final profile

For a PC at or near the recommended specification, use the high-resolution pack only if storage and memory are comfortable, keep textures at a level that avoids streaming pressure, select a supported quality-oriented upscaler, leave frame generation off during diagnosis, enable Switch Shader Compilation Mode, and use High-performance mode in Windows. For a minimum-tier or memory-constrained PC, choose the low-resolution pack, lower textures, use Performance model detail, turn anti-aliasing Off, and select a more aggressive supported upscaler. In both cases, validate the result in a real match after the first shader compilation rather than relying on a single FPS number.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the best Marvel Rivals settings after the October 2026 patch?

Start with the low-resolution resource pack if storage or GPU memory is limited, lower texture quality first, select the supported vendor upscaler in a quality-oriented mode, and use Performance model detail with anti-aliasing Off if team fights still spike. Leave frame generation off while establishing a stable baseline, and enable Switch Shader Compilation Mode when available.

How do I stop Marvel Rivals stuttering?

Let the first post-update or post-driver shader compilation finish, then test with frame generation disabled. Enable Switch Shader Compilation Mode, clean-install the latest GPU driver, set Marvel Rivals to Windows High performance under Settings → System → Display → Graphics, and install the game on an SSD. If your build offers the CPU-rendering optimization in Settings → Other, download it and restart.

What settings give the highest FPS in Marvel Rivals?

There is no official table of FPS gains for individual options. The performance-first path is a lower texture setting, a more aggressive supported upscaler, Performance model detail, and anti-aliasing Off. Test these in a repeatable team-fight sequence and keep the combination that improves frame-time consistency, not merely the largest menu number.

Should I use DLSS, FSR, or frame generation in Marvel Rivals?

Use the vendor upscaler your GPU supports and begin with its least aggressive quality mode. The current notes document AMD FSR 4 for Radeon RX 9000-series cards and AMD FSR 3.1/FSR3 frame-generation behavior. Frame generation is optional: test it only after the base render is smooth, because NetEase warns that FSR3 frame generation can add occasional stutters on lower-thread CPUs when combined with Switch Shader Compilation Mode.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do I need the HD texture pack?

No. The low-resolution resource pack reduces overall installation size compared with the high-resolution pack, although visual fidelity can be lower in some cases. Choose the high-resolution pack only when you have sufficient storage and GPU memory and prefer sharper assets to additional performance headroom.

Why does Marvel Rivals run badly even though my PC meets the requirements?

Published requirements are compatibility tiers, not a fixed-FPS guarantee. Lower textures, verify the resource pack, clean-install the latest GPU driver, select Windows High performance graphics mode, and check for the in-game CPU-rendering optimization. Also account for the difference between a minimum-tier system and the recommended RTX 2060 Super, RX 5700-XT, or Arc A750 tier.

How much RAM and storage does Marvel Rivals require?

The listed minimum and recommended configurations both specify 16 GB of RAM and 70 GB of available storage, along with Windows 10 64-bit version 1909 or newer and DirectX 12. An SSD is recommended for a better experience and for reducing delays at 99% loading.

Should I change several settings at once?

No. Disable frame generation, run a repeatable combat route, change one setting, and repeat the same movement and camera sweep. Once the base profile is stable, test frame generation separately. This makes it easier to identify whether a hitch is caused by compilation, CPU limits, memory pressure, or an individual quality option.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The Bottom Line

After the October 9 Season 10.5 launch and October 15 Version 20261015 follow-up, there is still no universal Marvel Rivals preset or guaranteed FPS target. Use the low-resolution resource pack and lower textures first when load is high, match upscaling to your GPU, enable shader compilation mode carefully, and treat frame generation as an experiment—especially on lower-thread CPUs. SSD storage, a clean GPU-driver installation, and Windows High-performance mode are official troubleshooting steps. Keep the profile that delivers the steadiest frame times in real fights while preserving acceptable clarity.
