If you want the closest like-for-like replacement for the UCS AT-ST Walker, choose UCS Jango Fett’s Firespray-Class Starship 75409. It occupies the middle UCS price and size tier while giving you a broad starship silhouette instead of a tall walker. Choose the UCS Millennium Falcon 75192 when instant recognition and centerpiece status matter most, or the UCS Imperial Star Destroyer 75252 when you want the largest Imperial display presence. The AT-ST itself remains the better choice for a narrow shelf because its upright, comparatively shallow stance uses vertical space rather than a wide ship footprint.
This guide compares those options by price, piece count, shelf demands, visual impact, faction appeal and build commitment, so you can select a display model that actually fits your room and collection.
What you are replacing: the UCS AT-ST Walker 75417
The UCS AT-ST Walker 75417 is an adult-oriented display build rather than a play-scale vehicle. LEGO’s 2025 US catalog lists it as an 18+ set with 1,513 pieces and an information plaque. Its design focuses on the recognizable two-legged Imperial vehicle: distinctive legs, an opening top hatch and a detailed two-person cockpit. LEGO describes the model as an “immersive, rewarding and creative challenge” intended as a substantial addition to a Star Wars UCS collection.
A contemporary review presents the AT-ST as comparatively space-efficient for a dorm room or flat because it stands upright and does not require the long, deep shelf area demanded by most UCS starships. That orientation is the key baseline for every alternative in this guide. Replacing the AT-ST with a ship usually means exchanging a tall, narrow display for a wider horizontal footprint.

At-a-glance comparison
| Set | Pieces | Price stated in cited material | Display profile | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| UCS AT-ST Walker 75417 | 1,513 (LEGO 2025 US catalog) | $199.99 / £179.99 (GamesRadar+ comparison, 2026) | Upright ground vehicle; comparatively space-efficient in depth | Collectors with limited shelf depth who want an Imperial walker |
| UCS Jango Fett’s Firespray-Class Starship 75409 | 2,970 (GamesRadar+ review, 2026) | $299.99 / £259.99 (GamesRadar+ review, 2026) | Starship with a broad horizontal presence; approximately 8 × 16 × 18 inches as reported by the review | Collectors seeking the closest mid-size UCS substitute and a premium ship |
| UCS Millennium Falcon 75192 | Not stated in the cited material | Not stated in the cited material | Very large horizontal centerpiece; confirm depth and support before buying | Fans who prioritize the most recognizable Star Wars display subject |
| UCS Imperial Star Destroyer 75252 | 4,784 bricks (StarWars.com, 2019) | Not stated in the cited material | Large, long Imperial ship profile with a substantial footprint | Imperial-faction collectors who want maximum scale and presence |
The table shows why there is no single universal winner. Jango Fett’s ship is the nearest substitute in the middle UCS tier, the Millennium Falcon is the strongest icon-led centerpiece, and the Imperial Star Destroyer is the most imposing Imperial option. The AT-ST is the outlier in orientation: it achieves display impact vertically.
1. UCS Jango Fett’s Firespray-Class Starship 75409: the closest mid-size UCS alternative
Why it is the best direct substitute
GamesRadar+ lists 75409 at 2,970 pieces, $299.99 in the United States and £259.99 in the United Kingdom in its 2026 review. The same review places the UCS AT-ST at $199.99 and £179.99, making Jango Fett’s ship the clearest step up for someone who wants another substantial UCS model without moving immediately to the very largest Star Wars sets.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteThe subject changes from a two-legged Imperial vehicle to a Firespray-class starship, but the display logic remains approachable: one distinct vehicle, a premium build and a recognizable character connection. Its ship silhouette gives the shelf more horizontal presence than the AT-ST, so it reads as a centerpiece from farther away while still occupying a manageable middle tier compared with the largest UCS models.
Size and shelf planning
The cited review reports approximate dimensions of 8 × 16 × 18 inches. Because the review presents these as overall dimensions rather than a separately labeled length, width and height specification, plan for the full rectangular envelope instead of assuming one particular orientation. Leave clearance around the model for placing it on the shelf and for removing it without catching nearby objects.
Compared with the AT-ST, this is a change in shelf strategy. The AT-ST’s legs and upright body concentrate the model vertically; Jango Fett’s ship spreads its visual mass across the shelf. Measure usable depth and width, not just the shelf’s advertised dimensions, and account for a back panel, wall clearance and any stand or plaque arrangement.

Who should choose it
- Choose it if you want a premium UCS vehicle near the middle of the range rather than a room-dominating flagship.
- Choose it if a starship is more appealing than a walker but you still want a single-subject display with strong character identity.
- Choose it if the AT-ST’s $199.99 / £179.99 cited price is below your target and the roughly $299.99 / £259.99 cited price fits your budget.
Do not choose it solely because it is a direct substitute on paper. Its horizontal footprint can be less convenient than the AT-ST in a narrow dorm shelf or shallow bookcase, even though the overall piece count and price remain within a moderate UCS range.
2. UCS Millennium Falcon 75192: the strongest icon and centerpiece
Why recognition matters
LEGO’s Star Wars theme presents the Millennium Falcon as an iconic starship and highlights adult-oriented Star Wars builds. LEGO’s UCS category positions the line as collectible display models and includes the Millennium Falcon among its flagship products. That combination gives 75192 the strongest instant-recognition value of the alternatives considered here: visitors can identify the subject immediately, even if they do not collect LEGO.
For a collection built around original-trilogy appeal, the Falcon also has unusually broad relevance. It is not tied only to an Imperial faction or to one vehicle type. The result is a centerpiece that can anchor a mixed Star Wars display rather than requiring the rest of the shelf to follow a specific army or era.
The trade-off: a major display commitment
The cited material does not provide a piece count, price or exact dimensions for 75192, so those values should not be inferred from other UCS sets. What is established is its flagship, large-scale display role. Treat it as a much larger commitment than the AT-ST and verify the available room depth before purchase.
Measure the shelf from the wall to its front edge, then check the clear opening between side panels. A ship that fits the board itself may still overhang the front or prevent cabinet doors from closing. If the display surface is elevated, consider how you will lift the finished model onto it and whether the shelf is designed to carry a large, concentrated load. Those practical checks matter more for the Falcon than for the upright AT-ST.

- Choose the Millennium Falcon when the recognizable subject matters more than matching the AT-ST’s footprint.
- Choose it when you want one dominant centerpiece rather than several similarly sized vehicles.
- Choose it for a broad original-trilogy display that can appeal to guests who are not specialists in UCS models.
Choose a different alternative if your room has only a shallow shelf or if you specifically want an Imperial-faction display. The Falcon’s strength is universal icon status, not compactness or faction focus.

3. UCS Imperial Star Destroyer 75252: the large Imperial statement
Scale and faction presence
StarWars.com reported that the UCS Imperial Star Destroyer contains 4,784 LEGO bricks and described it as a “gigantic addition to its vaunted UCS” range in the official 2019 announcement. LEGO’s UCS category places the model in the collectible display context. Among the alternatives in this guide, it offers the clearest path to a large-scale Imperial display.
The Star Destroyer’s long, wedge-shaped profile reads differently from the AT-ST’s compact vertical form. Instead of directing the eye upward through legs and cockpit, it creates a broad horizon across the shelf. That can make it more visually imposing in a dedicated display cabinet, but it also means the room must accommodate a long model and a safe way to support it.
Planning for the footprint
The cited material does not state a price or exact dimensions for 75252. Do not substitute the AT-ST’s dimensions or the Jango Fett ship’s reported 8 × 16 × 18-inch envelope. Plan conservatively for a large horizontal model, verify the current product specifications and measure the complete display area before ordering.
Recommended Free Tools
A long ship benefits from support under more than one point of its structure. Use the manufacturer’s recommended display method and avoid placing heavy objects where they could press on the hull. If the shelf is narrow, a stand or cabinet designed for model displays may be safer than a bare floating shelf. These are setup considerations, not indications of a published size or weight figure.
Who should choose it
- Choose it when Imperial identity is more important than a compact display.
- Choose it when you have a dedicated cabinet, table or long shelf rather than a small bookcase compartment.
- Choose it when the largest visual presence among these Imperial options is the goal.
Choose the AT-ST instead if your space is limited in depth, or Jango Fett’s ship if you want a substantial UCS model without committing to a very large ship display.
How the four options differ on the five decisions that matter
1. Shelf footprint and orientation
The AT-ST is the vertical choice. Its upright stance can work where a ship cannot, particularly in a dorm room, flat or bookcase with limited depth. Jango Fett’s ship moves the footprint outward and sideways, with an approximately 8 × 16 × 18-inch envelope reported by GamesRadar+. The Millennium Falcon and Imperial Star Destroyer are both horizontal centerpiece decisions; the cited material confirms their large display roles but does not provide dimensions for exact measurement.

2. Recognizability
The Millennium Falcon has the clearest instant-recognition advantage because LEGO explicitly treats it as an iconic Star Wars starship and a flagship UCS product. The Imperial Star Destroyer is also immediately identifiable to Star Wars fans, particularly in an Imperial display. Jango Fett’s ship offers a recognizable character-linked vehicle, while the AT-ST is the most distinctive ground-vehicle silhouette in the group.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3. Faction and character appeal
The AT-ST and Imperial Star Destroyer both serve an Imperial-focused collection, but at very different scales. Jango Fett’s ship shifts the emphasis to a character-associated vehicle and a prequel-era subject. The Millennium Falcon is the most faction-neutral option for a mixed collection because its appeal spans multiple stories and characters.
4. Build commitment
The AT-ST’s 1,513 pieces establish a substantial but bounded adult build. Jango Fett’s 2,970 pieces represent a clear step up in construction time and display mass. The Imperial Star Destroyer’s 4,784 bricks establish the largest stated build commitment here. The cited material does not state a piece count for the Millennium Falcon, so do not rank it numerically against the others without checking its current product information.
5. Budget
The only directly comparable prices supplied are GamesRadar+’s 2026 figures: $199.99 / £179.99 for the AT-ST and $299.99 / £259.99 for Jango Fett’s ship. No price is stated in the cited material for the Millennium Falcon or Imperial Star Destroyer. Treat all figures as dated review prices, and verify regional currency, tax, shipping, seller and current availability at the time of purchase.

If your shelf is shallow
Start with the AT-ST’s upright format. If you want an alternative, measure the available depth and width before considering Jango Fett’s ship. The Falcon and Star Destroyer should be treated as dedicated-surface projects rather than automatic replacements for a narrow shelf.
If you want one centerpiece everyone recognizes
Select the Millennium Falcon. Its iconic status, adult-build positioning and flagship place in LEGO’s UCS range make it the strongest choice when recognition matters more than compact dimensions.

If you want the closest middle-tier upgrade
Select Jango Fett’s Firespray-Class Starship 75409. It has the clearest cited price and piece-count relationship to the AT-ST while changing the subject from walker to starship and adding a broader shelf presence.
If your collection is Imperial and your room can handle a large ship
Select the Imperial Star Destroyer 75252. Its 4,784-brick scale and long Imperial profile make it the most forceful faction statement, provided you can supply a stable, spacious display surface.
Display and buying checklist
- Measure the real display area. Record usable width, depth and height after accounting for wall clearance, cabinet doors, trim and neighboring models.
- Decide whether vertical or horizontal space is scarce. The AT-ST favors height; ships generally consume more horizontal shelf area.
- Set a piece-count ceiling. Use 1,513 pieces for the AT-ST, 2,970 for Jango Fett’s ship and 4,784 bricks for the Star Destroyer as the stated reference points. The Falcon’s count is not stated in the cited material.
- Set a verified regional budget. The cited $199.99 / £179.99 and $299.99 / £259.99 figures are review prices from 2026, not guaranteed current offers.
- Match the subject to your collection. Pick a walker for Imperial ground-vehicle identity, Jango’s ship for a character-linked prequel display, the Falcon for broad icon appeal or the Star Destroyer for maximum Imperial scale.
- Plan handling before building. Large horizontal models need a clear route from the building surface to the final shelf and a support method that does not place pressure on fragile details.
- Verify current product information. Check the manufacturer’s current listing and your local retailer for dimensions, regional price, stock, seller terms and any changes to the product page.
Which set should you buy?
Buy UCS Jango Fett’s Firespray-Class Starship 75409 if “instead of the AT-ST” means you want a similarly substantial UCS vehicle in a manageable middle tier. Its 2,970 pieces, cited $299.99 / £259.99 review price and approximately 8 × 16 × 18-inch reported envelope make it the most concrete like-for-like alternative in the available comparison.
Buy the UCS Millennium Falcon 75192 if your priority is an instantly recognizable centerpiece and you can dedicate substantially more room than the AT-ST requires. Buy the UCS Imperial Star Destroyer 75252 if Imperial identity and the largest stated build scale matter most and you have a long, stable display surface.
If none of those trade-offs fit your room, the answer may be to keep the UCS AT-ST Walker 75417. Its 1,513-piece adult build, information plaque and upright, comparatively space-efficient presentation solve a display problem that a larger horizontal ship cannot.
