There are no verified “best” Jiaohun settings yet. JIAOHUN’s official Steam listing gives the game a planned 2027 release and says it is not yet available, so its final graphics menu, frame-rate behavior, field-of-view range, and comfort controls have not been published. You can still prepare with the official hardware baseline and a launch-day profile that prioritizes steady frame pacing, readable darkness, and reduced camera movement.

What you can—and cannot—set before launch

JIAOHUN is described by its developer, 12AM BLACKOUT, as “a cinematic first-person psychological horror game.” The Steam page currently lists it as planned for release in 2027 rather than available for download. That distinction matters: no launch build exists from which to verify a frame-rate target, graphics presets, FOV numbers, motion-blur defaults, camera-shake strength, head-bob options, upscaling modes, brightness values, or a named motion-sickness preset.

The recommendations in this guide are therefore a practical starting framework, not measured JIAOHUN results. Apply them only when the corresponding controls appear in the shipping PC version. A setting mentioned here may be absent, renamed, or implemented differently at release. Treat comfort advice as “may help,” test in short sessions, and stop if symptoms develop.

The only published performance information is the developer’s Steam specification. It is a requirements statement, not an independent benchmark: it does not promise a particular resolution, quality preset, or frames-per-second result.

These figures are taken from the official Steam listing (12AM BLACKOUT, 2026). The page does not state the resolution, quality preset, refresh rate, ray-tracing configuration, or frame-rate level associated with either tier. “Minimum” should consequently be read as the published entry point for launching the game, not as a guarantee of smooth play at your monitor’s native resolution.

How to interpret the minimum tier

A system with an i5-9400, 16 GB of RAM, and a GTX 1060 3 GB or RX 580 4 GB meets the listed floor on paper. At launch, begin with a conservative resolution or resolution scale and reduce expensive effects before making the image so dark or soft that navigation becomes difficult. Keep a stable cap rather than allowing the frame rate to oscillate between high and low values.

What the recommended tier tells you

The recommended combination—i7-11700KF or Ryzen 7 5800X, 32 GB RAM, and an RTX 4070 12 GB—indicates the developer’s target for a stronger PC, but it still does not identify a frame-rate or visual preset. It is reasonable to start at the monitor’s native resolution and a high-quality preset on such a machine, then measure consistency in actual play. Do not treat the RTX 4070 as proof that a particular resolution, refresh rate, or ray-tracing option will be supported.

Set up the PC before changing in-game graphics

Good frame pacing begins outside the game. Complete these checks after the final build is installed, because early access files, drivers, and shader caches can change during development.

  • 【EASY ON THE EYES】 Protect your eyes and enhance your comfort with Blue-Light Shift technology. This feature reduces harmful blue light emissions from your screen, helping to alleviate eye strain during long hours of use and promoting healthier viewing habits.
  • 【WIDEN YOUR PERSPECTIVE】Our sleek minimal bezel design ensures undivided attention. The nearly bezel-free display seamlessly connects in a dual monitor arrangement, delivering an unobstructed view that lets you focus on more at once, completely distraction-free.
  • Install the game on a drive with more free space than the listed allowance. The Steam page states 10 GB minimum and 20 GB recommended; patches and shader caches may require additional working room.
  • Update Windows and the graphics driver through the manufacturer’s normal channel, then restart before the first performance comparison.
  • Close browser tabs, recording tools, launchers, and overlays that consume memory or add a second frame-time workload. Re-enable one overlay at a time if you need it for monitoring.
  • Use the display’s native aspect ratio. Avoid a forced stretch mode while you are diagnosing blur or motion discomfort, because scaling artifacts can be mistaken for a game setting problem.
  • Allow the first run to finish any shader compilation. A short period of stutter immediately after an update may not represent later gameplay, but recurring hitching after compilation needs troubleshooting.

The launch-day performance profile

When JIAOHUN’s menu is available, change one group of options at a time and walk through the same representative scene. Record average smoothness by feel and, if you use a frame-time overlay, look for regular delivery rather than a single peak number. The objective is a frame rate your PC can hold consistently.

Setting or control Starting choice Why it is the first move When to change it
Frame-rate limit Use the highest cap the PC can sustain without frequent drops A steady cadence usually feels better than a higher but erratic counter Lower the cap if traversal repeatedly hits the limit and falls away; raise it only after a long, stable test
Resolution scale Start at 100% of native resolution if performance allows Preserves text, edges, and dark-scene detail Reduce it before sacrificing visibility-critical effects when the GPU is overloaded
Textures Keep at a level your VRAM can hold without hitching Textures improve surface readability and usually do not cause the same frame-time cost as complex lighting Drop one step if VRAM pressure produces stutter or texture pop-in
Shadows and volumetric effects High on a recommended-tier PC; Medium or Low on a minimum-tier PC These effects can be expensive while adding less navigational information than geometry and textures Reduce them when frame time spikes in fog, large rooms, or scenes with several lights
Reflections, ambient effects, and post-processing Begin at the default, then lower the most expensive option individually Separating changes shows which effect is actually responsible for a drop Reduce an effect if it costs smoothness without improving your ability to read the scene
Upscaling or dynamic resolution Use only if the launch menu exposes it; start with the quality-oriented mode It can recover GPU headroom while retaining more detail than an indiscriminate resolution cut Move toward performance mode only after checking that fine horror-scene detail remains legible

The table does not assert that every listed control will ship. The public information does not name JIAOHUN’s upscaler, dynamic-resolution system, post-processing stack, or presets. If a control is absent, skip it rather than substituting a value from another game.

Why frame pacing comes first

A locked, lower rate can feel more comfortable than a counter that jumps from a high peak to a deep dip whenever you turn or enter a new room. Use the highest limit that survives sustained movement, not a short look at an empty corridor. If your display supports variable refresh, enable it in the display and driver only after confirming that the game’s cap is compatible; a badly matched cap can create judder even when the average frame rate looks sufficient.

What to lower before image clarity

Start with effects that add cinematic cost rather than navigational information: heavy volumetrics, reflections, shadow quality, and similar lighting options. Preserve geometry, texture readability, and enough resolution to distinguish doors, stairs, and interactable objects. In a horror game, darkness is part of the design, but unreadable silhouettes can turn a performance adjustment into a gameplay problem.

Visibility without destroying the horror atmosphere

Visibility has two separate goals: seeing enough to move and interact safely, and retaining the intended cinematic contrast. Tune them separately from performance.

Use brightness or gamma as a calibration, not a shortcut

If the game provides a brightness or gamma slider, begin at its default and adjust only until the darkest calibration detail is barely distinguishable in your normal room lighting. Do not copy a particular numerical value from another title; no JIAOHUN brightness target has been published. Recheck after changing your monitor’s picture mode, HDR setting, or room lighting.

Protect fine detail first

  • Keep resolution scale high enough that thin edges, stair steps, and doorway outlines remain clear.
  • Keep textures and geometry readable when possible; reducing them can make environmental clues disappear even if the frame counter improves.
  • Reduce blur-heavy or lighting-heavy effects before making the entire image substantially softer.
  • Check a dark interior and a bright exterior (if both exist) before settling on a single brightness setting.

Make the room part of the visibility setting

Do not play in a pitch-dark room with a very bright display. A small amount of ambient light reduces the contrast shock when you look away from the screen and can make dark scenes easier to read without lifting in-game gamma too far. Keep the screen at a comfortable brightness and sit at the distance you normally use; monitor distance and aspect ratio also affect how wide or narrow a field of view feels.

Motion-sickness settings to try when the menu exists

Motion sickness is individual, and no source confirms which comfort controls JIAOHUN will ship. The following are general interventions that may help some first-person players. Apply them one at a time, use short sessions, and stop as soon as symptoms build.

Turn off motion blur

If there is a motion-blur toggle or strength slider, set it to Off or the lowest value. Blur during camera movement can make the image harder to track for sensitive players. It can also hide useful detail, so disabling it is a reasonable first test for both comfort and visibility.

Reduce camera shake

Set camera shake to Low or Off if available. Shakes triggered by impacts, scares, or scripted events are involuntary visual movement; reducing them may make a scene easier to follow. If the game offers separate combat, event, and weapon-shake controls, lower the strongest category first and test before disabling every effect.

Reduce or disable head bob

Head bob adds a repeated vertical motion while walking. Set it to Low or Off where the menu permits. If a separate sprint-bob control exists, start there because sprinting often produces the largest movement, then evaluate normal walking.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Widen FOV gradually

A very narrow field of view can make forward motion feel more tunnel-like, while an excessively wide view can introduce edge distortion and require more GPU work. Widen the slider in small increments, walk for several minutes, and keep the first value that feels natural. There is no verified JIAOHUN FOV number, so do not assume that 90, 100, or 110 degrees is correct. Your monitor’s aspect ratio, viewing distance, and personal tolerance all affect the result.

Keep the frame rate consistent

Uneven frame delivery can compound discomfort, especially during rapid turns. Use a cap the PC can hold, and lower GPU-heavy options before allowing large swings. If symptoms appear only during traversal, investigate hitching and shader compilation rather than immediately changing FOV.

A careful first-session calibration procedure

  1. Begin with defaults and a comfortable room. Keep modest ambient light, sit at your usual distance, and note the monitor’s refresh rate and native resolution.
  2. Choose a conservative frame cap. Select a limit your hardware can sustain in a busy scene. A stable lower cap is preferable to a fluctuating higher one.
  3. Disable motion blur. Play a short walking loop and observe whether tracking detail feels easier.
  4. Lower camera shake and head bob. Test Low first, then Off if movement still feels uncomfortable. Change only one control between tests.
  5. Set brightness or gamma. Use the game’s calibration image, if supplied, and adjust until dark detail is barely readable without washing out the scene.
  6. Adjust FOV in small steps. Walk, turn, and inspect near and far objects after each change. Stop at the narrowest or widest value that feels comfortable rather than chasing a community “standard.”
  7. Recover GPU headroom. If frame pacing is unstable, reduce volumetrics, shadows, reflections, or other expensive effects one at a time. Keep textures, geometry, and resolution as high as smooth play permits.
  8. Test a representative route. Include a dark room, a turn-heavy corridor, an area with effects, and any scene that previously caused a hitch. Keep the profile only after it remains comfortable through the full route.
  9. Stop at the first warning signs. Nausea, headache, eye strain, sweating, dizziness, or disorientation are reasons to pause. Do not try to train through worsening symptoms.

Profiles for the two published hardware tiers

PC close to the minimum specification

Start below the game’s highest image preset. Use the native resolution only if the frame rate remains consistent; otherwise reduce resolution scale modestly. Keep textures at the highest level that fits the GTX 1060’s 3 GB or RX 580’s 4 GB of VRAM without hitching, then lower shadows, volumetrics, and reflections. Use a conservative frame cap and disable motion blur, camera shake, and head bob if they are available. Recheck dark-scene readability after every performance change.

PC close to the recommended specification

Begin at native resolution with a high-quality preset, then perform a sustained movement test rather than assuming the RTX 4070 12 GB guarantees a particular result. Retain high textures and geometry while tuning expensive lighting effects for consistency. A wide FOV, high refresh rate, or ray-tracing mode is not part of the published requirement, so enable any such option only after the base profile is stable and comfortable.

Troubleshoot common launch-day problems

Stutter when entering new areas

  • Wait for initial shader compilation or a one-time cache build to finish.
  • Confirm that the game is installed on a drive with adequate free space beyond the 10 GB or 20 GB listed allowance.
  • Close memory-heavy applications; the minimum listing specifies 16 GB RAM and the recommended tier 32 GB.
  • Lower shadows, volumetrics, or reflections before cutting visibility-critical resolution.
  • If stutter persists after a restart and a clean driver update, cap the frame rate lower and compare frame pacing rather than average FPS.

Image is too dark to navigate

  • Restore the game’s default brightness or gamma, then recalibrate in your normal room light.
  • Check the monitor’s HDR, black-level, and picture-mode settings; an incorrect display range can crush shadows.
  • Raise brightness only enough to reveal environmental detail. Do not compensate for a soft image by making the entire scene gray.
  • Preserve resolution, textures, and geometry while lowering costly lighting effects if performance is the real cause of the problem.

Turning feels uncomfortable

  • Disable motion blur and reduce camera shake and head bob where those controls exist.
  • Try a small FOV increase, then test it for several minutes rather than judging from the menu preview.
  • Use a steadier frame cap and avoid large frame-time swings.
  • Shorten the session and stop if symptoms continue. Persistent or severe symptoms warrant appropriate medical advice.

The game will not start

Compare the PC with the published baseline: Windows 10 version 1809, an i5-9400 or equivalent minimum processor, 16 GB RAM, a GTX 1060 3 GB or RX 580 4 GB, DirectX 12, and at least 10 GB available storage. The recommended listing calls for an i7-11700KF or Ryzen 7 5800X, 32 GB RAM, an RTX 4070 12 GB, DirectX 12, and 20 GB storage. These are the developer’s stated requirements, not a complete compatibility guarantee; final launch notes or patches may add information.

What remains unknown until the 2027 release

The public listing does not provide independent FPS tests, graphics-menu screenshots, final PC patch notes, or a verified cloud-gaming catalog entry. It also does not establish a JIAOHUN-specific FOV range, motion-blur default, camera-shake strength, head-bob control, upscaling technology, dynamic-resolution behavior, or brightness target. Those details can change before release and should be checked against the final in-game menu and patch notes rather than borrowed from another title.

Until the launch build is available, the most defensible plan is simple: meet the published hardware tier, prioritize stable frame pacing, preserve scene readability, disable or reduce movement effects if they cause discomfort, and adjust FOV gradually. That approach gives you a useful starting point without presenting unverified numbers as official JIAOHUN settings.
