Short answer: Holy Stone’s HS720E and HS720G are the two camera-drone candidates with the clearest published specifications, but the available evidence does not prove that either delivers an “excellent flying experience” or “outstanding” camera quality. The HS720E pairs electronic image stabilization (EIS) with a 4K Sony CMOS sensor and records its highest listed resolution to a TF card. The HS720G adds a two-axis motorized gimbal to EIS, weighs less, and is listed with GPS, GLONASS and optical-flow positioning. Those are specification differences, not independent proof that one produces better footage or flies better.

Choose between them by looking first at stabilization, where you will save files, battery packaging, weight and accessory compatibility. Treat flight time, radio range, tracking modes and resolution as manufacturer claims until independent testing confirms how they perform in wind, changing light and real recording conditions.

What the HS720E and HS720G actually offer

Holy Stone positions both models as GPS camera drones with 4K recording. Their published specifications overlap on maximum recorded resolution and transmitter range, but the camera-support systems and packages differ substantially. The table below keeps the figures in their original context.

Card support Up to 128 GB; class 10 or faster, FAT32 recommended Up to 128 GB
Obstacle avoidance Not established by the cited product material Holy Stone says the drone does not have obstacle avoidance

All figures in this table are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent measurements. In particular, a stated range is normally an ideal maximum rather than a promise that a legal, unobstructed flight will maintain a control link at that distance. Published endurance also depends on wind, temperature, payload, battery condition and how aggressively the aircraft is flown.

HS720E: the card-recording and EIS option

Camera specification

Holy Stone lists a 4K Sony CMOS sensor, EIS and a 130-degree field of view for the HS720E. EIS corrects motion electronically by using sensor data and cropping or shifting the image. It can reduce small vibrations, but the specification alone does not tell you how much crop is applied, how the system behaves during fast yaw movements or how it performs in low light.

The important workflow detail is the difference between the aircraft’s TF-card files and files saved through the phone connection. Holy Stone lists 3,840 × 2,160 photos and video when recording to a TF card. On the same page, it lists phone-stored photos at 1,920 × 1,080 and phone-stored video at 1,280 × 720. A phone preview or download therefore should not be treated as proof that the original 4K file was captured at that resolution.

Flight features

The HS720E page lists GPS-assisted Follow Me, TapFly, Point of Interest and Return to Home. GPS assistance can help the aircraft hold a position and execute automated movements, but it does not make those modes self-supervised. Check satellite lock, set a return-to-home height that clears nearby obstacles and keep the aircraft in sight while an automated mode is active.

Battery package and storage

Holy Stone lists 23 minutes of flight per battery and advertises two batteries for up to 46 minutes combined. The combined figure means two separate flights with a battery change, not 46 minutes in the air without landing. Actual usable time is shorter if you reserve power for the return and landing.

The manufacturer recommends a class 10 or faster FAT32 TF card and lists support up to 128 GB. Card compatibility can depend on the card’s formatting and the app or firmware version, so format the card in the aircraft if that option is provided and make a short test recording before a longer flight. Do not assume that every 128 GB card will behave identically.

HS720G: the lighter gimbal-equipped alternative

Two-axis gimbal plus EIS

The HS720G is listed with a two-axis motorized gimbal and EIS. A gimbal physically moves the camera to counter changes in aircraft attitude, while EIS addresses residual electronic motion. That combination is a meaningful design difference from the HS720E’s EIS description. It is reasonable to expect the systems to react differently to pitch and roll movement, but only comparative footage can establish which model gives you steadier or more natural-looking video in a particular flight.

The HS720G page lists a 120-degree field of view, 3,840 × 2,160 maximum photo and video resolution and video up to 30 frames per second. A wider field of view can include more scenery but may make nearby objects look smaller and can increase edge distortion. Neither the resolution label nor the gimbal specification establishes sharpness, color accuracy, dynamic range or night performance.

Positioning and endurance

Holy Stone lists GPS, GLONASS and optical-flow positioning for the HS720G and gives a flight-time figure of up to 26 minutes. Optical flow generally uses a downward-facing sensor to help estimate movement near the ground; its usefulness can fall over water, reflective surfaces, featureless floors or in poor light. Keep the aircraft within a safe visual area rather than treating any positioning system as a substitute for piloting.

The package listing shows one battery. Confirm the contents of the exact retailer bundle before ordering because Holy Stone notes that accessories can vary by purchase channel.

No obstacle avoidance

Holy Stone’s FAQ answer is explicit: “No, the HS720G drone doesn’t have obstacle avoidance.” That means the aircraft should not be expected to detect a tree, wall, wire or person and brake automatically. Fly in a wide, open area, maintain a clear route and use a visual observer when local rules or the environment make orientation difficult.

Does the gimbal make the HS720G the better camera drone?

Not on the published specifications alone. The HS720G’s two-axis gimbal plus EIS is a stronger stabilization description on paper than EIS alone, especially for a camera that tilts or rolls as the aircraft moves. However, the HS720E has a listed 130-degree field of view and a named Sony CMOS sensor, while the HS720G lists 120 degrees and does not identify the sensor in the cited specification. Those differences point to different priorities rather than a universal winner.

When comparing footage, use the same scene, weather, flight path, shutter and frame-rate settings where possible. Look for horizon movement during acceleration, vibration in hover, motion blur during pans, detail at the frame edges, exposure changes when the camera faces the sky and the quality of files copied from the TF card. Phone previews can be lower-resolution versions, so compare the original card files.

Recording 4K correctly

HS720E file path

  1. Insert a compatible TF card rated class 10 or faster and formatted as FAT32, staying within the manufacturer’s listed 128 GB limit.
  2. Confirm in the flight app that the card is detected before takeoff.
  3. Start and stop recording from the aircraft or app controls, then wait for the recording indicator to finish before powering down.
  4. Copy the files from the TF card for the listed 3,840 × 2,160 version. Treat files saved directly to the phone as the separately listed 1,280 × 720 video and 1,920 × 1,080 photo outputs.
  5. Open one copied file on a computer or tablet and check its pixel dimensions and frame rate before deleting the card copy.

HS720G file path

  1. Use a TF card within the listed 128 GB capacity and confirm that the app recognizes it.
  2. Set the desired 4K option and, where available, select up to 30 fps.
  3. Record a short clip while the drone is stationary, then play the card file back at full resolution.
  4. Keep the original card files as your master copies; a phone download may be a preview or a differently encoded version depending on the current app.

App labels and transfer behavior can change with firmware and operating-system updates. If the current app presents different options, follow the on-screen labels and verify the resulting file dimensions rather than relying on an older tutorial.

Flight-time and range claims: how to plan a real flight

The HS720E’s 23-minute figure is specified per battery; the HS720G is listed at up to 26 minutes. These are ceiling figures under conditions selected by the manufacturer. Wind, cold batteries, repeated acceleration, gimbal movement, return-to-home reserves and carrying a card or other accessory reduce the time available for filming.

The two models are both listed with a 999 m transmitter range. Range is affected by buildings, trees, radio interference, antenna orientation and local line-of-sight rules. A responsible flight plan uses the range needed for the shot, not the maximum printed number. Set a conservative low-battery return point, watch the battery voltage and begin the return while there is still enough power to land manually if Return to Home cannot complete.

Weight, registration and operating limits

Holy Stone lists the HS720E at 495 g and the HS720G at 377 g. The 250 g threshold used in some jurisdictions makes the difference legally relevant, but registration, remote-identification, pilot-competency and operating rules vary by country and can change. Check the aviation authority that governs the place where you will fly before your first launch. Do not infer a legal exemption from the model name or from a retailer’s description.

Weight also affects transport and wind response. The lighter HS720G may be easier to carry, while the heavier HS720E can have different momentum in gusts. Neither conclusion is a measured performance result; confirm handling in a large open area before attempting a complex camera move.

Which model fits which buyer?

Choose the HS720E when:

  • You specifically want the manufacturer’s named 4K Sony CMOS sensor.
  • You prefer the listed 130-degree field of view for wider establishing shots.
  • You will record to a TF card and can manage the distinction between card files and phone-stored files.
  • A package with two batteries is available from your purchase channel and that arrangement is more useful than a built-in gimbal.
  • You need the listed Follow Me, TapFly and Point of Interest modes and understand that GPS assistance does not remove the need for supervision.

Choose the HS720G when:

  • A two-axis motorized gimbal plus EIS is more important to your shot than the HS720E’s wider listed field of view.
  • You prefer the lower listed weight of 377 g.
  • You want the manufacturer-listed combination of GPS, GLONASS and optical-flow positioning.
  • A single included battery is acceptable, or you have confirmed the availability and compatibility of additional batteries for the exact model.
  • You can fly in wide, open spaces and do not require obstacle detection.

Wait for independent evidence when:

  • Your decision depends on low-light image quality, color science, edge sharpness, wind handling or precise gimbal smoothness.
  • You need reliable tracking around trees, buildings or people.
  • You require a verified flight time close to the printed maximum or a dependable 999 m link.
  • You are buying for commercial work where consistent footage, support and regulatory documentation matter more than a specification sheet.

Setup checklist before the first flight

  1. Inspect the aircraft, propellers, gimbal (on the HS720G), landing gear and battery for cracks, swelling or loose parts.
  2. Charge the flight battery and controller with the supplied equipment, and install the current control app from the manufacturer’s documented channel.
  3. Read the current manual and confirm the controller-to-aircraft pairing sequence; app menus can differ between phone operating systems.
  4. Insert and test the TF card if you intend to capture the listed 4K files.
  5. Choose a broad open area away from people, roads, power lines, trees and reflective or water surfaces that can confuse optical-flow positioning.
  6. Wait for the required positioning status and compass or calibration prompts. Do not take off if the app reports an unresolved error.
  7. Set Return to Home height above the tallest nearby obstruction and verify the home point before launching.
  8. Hover at low altitude, check that the aircraft responds to every stick input, and confirm that the camera records and the gimbal (if fitted) moves normally.
  9. Land with reserve battery power, stop recording, and power down in the order specified by the current manual.

Common problems and practical fixes

The phone video looks like 720p

For the HS720E, that may be expected when the file was saved to the phone: Holy Stone lists phone video at 1,280 × 720 while listing 3,840 × 2,160 for TF-card recording. Retrieve the original card file and inspect its dimensions. If the card file is also low resolution, check the in-app recording setting, card formatting and firmware before assuming the camera is defective.

The drone will not hold position

Move to an open area, allow the positioning system to acquire a stable lock and avoid launching over reflective, textureless or poorly lit surfaces. Check for wind and battery warnings. GPS and optical-flow aids improve assistance; they do not guarantee a stationary hover in every environment.

The gimbal image is tilted or vibrating

With the HS720G powered on and resting level, inspect the gimbal for transport material, dirt or an obstruction. Use the current app’s gimbal-calibration function if offered, then test in a gentle hover. Do not force the camera by hand. Persistent vibration can indicate a damaged mount or propeller and warrants stopping the flight.

Return to Home does not behave as expected

Return to Home depends on a recorded home point, adequate positioning data, battery power and a clear route. Confirm the home-point indicator after takeoff, set a safe altitude and keep the aircraft visible. If the link is weak or the aircraft is near an obstacle, be ready to regain control and land manually according to the manual.

The card is not recognized

Back up any files, use a card within the model’s stated capacity, format it as FAT32 where supported and verify that it is class 10 or faster for the HS720E. A card can be technically within the capacity limit yet fail because of corruption, counterfeit capacity or a poor connection. Test with a known-good card before replacing the drone.

Batteries and accessories

Holy Stone’s HS720E FAQ says the HS720E and HS720 use the same drone battery. That statement does not establish compatibility with the HS720G. Match the exact model, connector, voltage and charger requirements shown for your aircraft, and verify the regional listing and stock before purchasing a replacement.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The HS720E product page says package accessories can vary by purchase channel, and the HS720G page makes the same general qualification. Confirm the number of batteries, controller, charging cables, propellers and storage card in the specific bundle you are ordering. A TF card is not included with the HS720E listing, so budget for a suitable card if you want the highest listed recording resolution.

Availability and buying checks

Holy Stone’s catalog presents the HS720E alongside other camera, GPS and gimbal drones, so it should be treated as one candidate rather than the company’s only current option. Catalog descriptions, bundles and inventory can change. The official store, country-specific Amazon storefronts and other retailers are identified as purchase channels, but a channel listing is not a guarantee of current stock, price or identical accessories.

Before paying, compare the exact model designation, included battery count, return policy, warranty terms, regional charger and replacement-part availability. Save a copy of the listing and package contents because a bundle that looks identical in a search result may differ by country or seller.

How to judge “excellent” flying and “outstanding” camera quality

Those phrases are conclusions, not specifications. A fair evaluation should separate measurable details from subjective impressions:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Stability: record a hover, a forward acceleration and a slow pan in calm and moderate wind. Inspect horizon movement and vibration in the original card files.
  • Exposure: point from ground to sky and watch for abrupt brightness changes, clipped highlights and dark shadows.
  • Detail: film fine branches, text at a safe distance and textured surfaces at the center and edges of the frame.
  • Motion: compare the HS720E’s EIS behavior with the HS720G’s gimbal-plus-EIS behavior during turns and braking.
  • Reliability: repeat flights with charged batteries and note GPS acquisition, warnings, connection behavior and recovery from a low-battery return.
  • Workflow: time the transfer from TF card, inspect file dimensions and confirm that footage remains intact after a full flight.

Without this kind of controlled comparison, the defensible conclusion is limited to what Holy Stone lists: the HS720E offers EIS and a named Sony sensor, while the HS720G offers a two-axis gimbal plus EIS and a lighter body. Neither specification proves superior image quality or a better flying experience in every situation.
