The best Halloween game depends on who is playing and how much fright you want. For a genuinely scary multiplayer night, Halloween: The Game puts one player in control of Michael Myers against four survivors. For family-friendly Switch sessions, Nintendo’s 2026 seasonal line-up points to Disney Dreamlight Valley and Fortnite. Mobile players should choose a title whose event dates overlap their available time, while tabletop groups can match player count and session length to games such as Ghost Blitz, Werewolves of Miller’s Hollow, Final Girl and Betrayal at House on the Hill: 3rd Edition.
Best scary multiplayer game: Halloween: The Game
IllFonic’s Halloween: The Game is the most literal 2026 video-game choice. Steam lists its release on 8 September 2026 and describes a 1978 Halloween night in which players either become Michael Myers or fight to survive as Haddonfield residents. It supports a standalone single-player mode and 1v4 asymmetrical online multiplayer.
The 1v4 format makes it a natural choice for a coordinated group: one player hunts while four others use teamwork, movement and timing to resist. The storefront listing also flags mature content, so check the rating and content information before inviting younger players.
Reception is mixed rather than universally enthusiastic. At the time of the Steam snapshot, 68% of 10,109 English reviews were positive overall, while 63% of 5,469 recent reviews were positive. Those figures can change as more players review the game, so treat them as a dated signal rather than a permanent score.
#1 Best Overall
- A 1 vs Many game by renowned designer Emerson Matsuuchi.
- Focus on hidden movement mechanics and escaping as a bystander, or hunting them down as Mike Myers!
Choose it when
- You have five online players or want to alternate between solo and group play.
- Your group wants a direct slasher premise and is comfortable with mature horror content.
- You can accept a mixed critical reception and want a new 2026 release rather than an established classic.
Best cozy or family-friendly Halloween games on Switch
Nintendo’s 9 October 2026 Halloween guide divides Switch and Switch 2 suggestions into “Creepy cozy,” “Paranormal activities” and “Try to survive.” That framework is useful because it separates atmosphere from intensity instead of treating every Halloween game as a scare-heavy horror title.
Disney Dreamlight Valley for cozy spooky play
Disney Dreamlight Valley fits a low-pressure Halloween evening: it is suitable for players who want seasonal atmosphere, decorating and exploration without a survival-horror session. It is the better pick for mixed-age households or anyone searching for “cozy spooky games.”
Rank #2
- This 1 vs Many game by renowned designer Emerson Matsuuchi is the first time the original Halloween movie has been made into its own board game.
- It was the night HE came home... and one player must take on the role of Michael Myers!
- The others will control Laurie and her friends as they scramble to find weapons, the kids, and a way to escape.
- Their task will be made more difficult because Myers can only be seen when you're looking right at him!
- 2-4 Players | Ages 14+ | 60 Minutes Playing Time
Fortnite for a shared seasonal event
Nintendo’s guide also highlights Fortnite. Its Fortnitemares 2026 celebration is scheduled to run throughout October with themed characters, making it useful for groups that want a recurring event rather than a single night’s campaign. Nintendo says its Season of Scares runs for six weeks; check the in-game calendar for the exact activities available on the night you plan to play.

- ADULT CARD GAME FOR GAME NIGHT - Don’t Get Stabbed! is an adult party game where you get to kill your family and friends! ... for pretend of course. It’s inspired by horror movies of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s, but is light-hearted enough for everyone to enjoy. The ultimate Halloween game!
- COMPETITIVE & EASY TO LEARN - This entertaining game is playable for 3 to 5 players. One person is elected as the killer (whoever is the most evil in your group) and the rest are victims. The killer wins by killing all the victims. The victims win by escaping.
- HILARIOUS & REPLAYABLE- The average player will love this game for its gameplay! The horror fan will love the art on many of these cards which features classic horror movie tropes. There is tons of fun in playing this game and in its artwork.
- ADULT PARTY GAME – It may look cute, but like most horror movies it has topics you probably don’t want your children knowing about. For ages 18+.
- WHAT’S IN THE BOX?! – Included in the box are 64 Main Deck Cards and 13 Car Deck Cards printed on premium glossy playing cards (2.5 x 3.5 inches), for a grand total of 77 cards. Also included is one instruction booklet.
Best tabletop Halloween games by group size
Tabletop games avoid download times and work well when everyone is in the same room. The right choice depends on player count, age, and how long you want the session to last. The specifications below come from Asmodee’s 2026 guide.

For a quick party round: Ghost Blitz
Asmodee describes Ghost Blitz as “chaos in the best possible way.” Its 15–30-minute sessions and 8+ age recommendation make it a practical opener while guests arrive or a compact game between other Halloween activities.
Best Value
- Thrilling party game starring the voice of Ghost Face, Roger L. Jackson himself!
- Fast-paced gameplay gets your heart pounding as you race to stay alive!
- Custom Ghost Face figure tracks the killer as he moves and attacks.
- Free downloadable game app features intense original narration and music!
- Evocative art and components, including Knife first-player marker, will delight Scream fans.
For eight or more players: Werewolves of Miller’s Hollow
With room for 8–18 players and 30–45-minute sessions, Werewolves of Miller’s Hollow is designed for a crowd. It is a better fit than a small-box game when the whole party wants to participate in one social-deduction conversation.
For a solo horror night: Final Girl
Final Girl is the dedicated solo option in this list. Its 14+ recommendation and 45–60-minute play time suit an adult player who wants a focused horror scenario without coordinating a group.
For an unfolding story: Betrayal at House on the Hill: 3rd Edition
Asmodee’s description emphasizes 50 haunts and dozens of danger-filled rooms. Choose it when your group wants exploration and a longer narrative arc rather than a short filler game. Because the guide does not state a player count, age range or session length for this edition, confirm those details on the box or current product information before buying.

Quick Recap
How to choose your Halloween game
- Set the scare level: choose cozy for relaxed family play, paranormal for supernatural atmosphere, or survival for direct danger and horror.
- Match the platform: use Switch for accessible shared-room play, a computer or console for online asymmetrical horror, mobile for scheduled event check-ins, and tabletop for face-to-face parties.
- Count the players: verify that the game supports everyone who will attend; a five-person online group suits a 1v4 format, while 8–18 guests point toward Werewolves of Miller’s Hollow.
- Reserve enough time: pick a sub-15-minute or 15–30-minute game for a busy party, and allow 45–60 minutes or more for a dedicated horror session.
- Check the calendar: seasonal mobile and live-service content can end on a fixed date, unlike a purchased game that remains playable after October.
- Confirm age and content: review mature-content notices and age recommendations before starting, especially with children or mixed-age groups.
