There is no tested “best” preset for HUMANKIND 2 yet. The game is publicly listed for 2027, but its listing does not include a graphics-menu breakdown, frame-rate target, benchmark results, or confirmed upscaling support. The most accurate advice today is a launch-day tuning method built around the published hardware requirements, followed by testing on late-game turns and dense maps before you settle on a profile.
What is known about HUMANKIND 2 graphics right now?
Release status limits the advice
As of October 18, 2026, HUMANKIND 2 is listed for release in 2027. The AMPLITUDE Studios-attributed listing names the studio as developer and publisher, highlights enhanced visuals and a modernized user interface, and provides minimum and recommended PC specifications. The game is not yet in the shop and has no user reviews in that listing.
Because there is no public build to measure, nobody can honestly promise that a particular preset will deliver 60 frames per second, that 1440p or 4K will be practical, or that one setting combination is the definitive winner. The profiles and adjustment order below are a starting workflow, not results from a HUMANKIND 2 benchmark.

Published PC requirements
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 64-bit | Windows 11 64-bit |
| Processor | Intel Core i5-4430 or AMD FX-8350 | Intel Core i7-6700 or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X |
| System memory | 8 GB RAM | 12 GB RAM |
| Graphics processor | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 (4 GB) or AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT (8 GB) | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 (8 GB) or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT (8 GB) |
| Graphics API | DirectX 11 | DirectX 12 |
| Storage | 20 GB | 20 GB |
The listing does not attach a resolution, a frame-rate objective, or a named graphics preset to either tier. Meeting the recommended specification therefore means that your PC matches the developer’s published target hardware; it does not constitute a measured 1080p, 1440p, 4K, High, or Ultra guarantee.

How to find your best settings at launch
Use this sequence when the game becomes available. It avoids changing several variables at once and gives you a repeatable profile for your own monitor and hardware.
- Update the operating system and graphics driver. Install current stable updates for your Windows edition and GPU before your first test. The published baseline permits Windows 10 64-bit with DirectX 11, while the recommended target is Windows 11 64-bit with DirectX 12.
- Start at your monitor’s native resolution. Select the display’s native resolution in the game rather than immediately lowering it to chase an assumed frame-rate number. The listing publishes no official target, so native resolution is the cleanest image-quality baseline.
- Use the detected or High preset first. If the game offers an automatic hardware-detection option, apply it and record the resulting values. Otherwise begin with the game’s High preset, if one exists, instead of assuming that Ultra is required. HUMANKIND 2’s final preset names and contents have not been published.
- Choose a frame-time goal that fits your display. A 60 Hz monitor, a high-refresh monitor, and a variable-refresh display do not require the same target. Pick a stable goal you can hold during normal play; there is no developer-published HUMANKIND 2 number to copy.
- Measure a representative workload. Check camera movement over a busy city, a zoomed-out view with many units, and a turn involving several factions. Strategy games can look smooth early and become more demanding as maps fill.
- Lower one expensive option at a time. If frame time is unstable, change shadows first, then volumetric effects, reflections, and view distance when those controls are present. Restart or reload the same test situation after each change so you can identify the actual benefit.
- Recheck late-game conditions. A setting that is comfortable on an empty map is not necessarily the best setting for a large late-era save. Test a dense map and late-game turns before saving your final profile.
- Keep a fallback profile. Save a lower preset for crowded scenarios, patches, or multiplayer sessions. Systems close to the minimum GTX 960 or RX 5500 XT class have less headroom for sudden workload increases.
Which graphics options should you reduce first?
The following order is based on normal PC-rendering behavior, not measurements from HUMANKIND 2. The final menu may use different labels or expose fewer controls.
| Option, if available | Why it can cost performance | Practical first move | Image-quality trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shadows | Higher quality uses more detailed shadow maps and more draw work across many objects. | Move from Ultra to High, or from High to Medium, before lowering resolution. | Shadow edges become softer or less detailed; the scene’s overall composition usually remains intact. |
| Volumetric effects | Fog, haze, and light shafts require additional screen-space or volume calculations. | Reduce one step if available, especially when camera movement causes spikes. | Atmospheric depth and light beams are less pronounced. |
| Reflections | Reflective surfaces can require extra scene rendering or screen-space processing. | Use a lower quality level or disable optional reflections if the menu permits it. | Water, polished floors, and other reflective materials look less accurate. |
| View distance | Longer distances keep more objects active and visible. | Reduce moderately on a GPU near the minimum tier; avoid the lowest value until other options are tested. | Distant terrain, structures, or effects may appear later. |
| Texture quality | Texture resolution primarily consumes graphics memory; it may not be the first frame-time control. | Keep it high when VRAM is sufficient. Lower it if you see texture streaming, stutter, or memory warnings. | Surfaces lose fine detail rather than changing the scene’s geometry. |
| Anti-aliasing or upscaling | These controls alter edge smoothing and the number of pixels rendered. | Use the native-resolution option first. If an upscaler is present at launch, compare its quality modes directly rather than assuming support. | Lower quality can introduce shimmer, softness, or ghosting. |
Do not lower every slider at once. A one-step reduction in a costly effect often preserves a better image than dropping the entire preset to Low. Conversely, if your GPU is below the recommended tier, a lower overall preset may provide more consistent frame time than selectively changing one option.

Starting points by hardware tier
PCs near the minimum specification
The minimum listing calls for a GTX 960 with 4 GB or an RX 5500 XT with 8 GB, 8 GB of RAM, and DirectX 11 on Windows 10 64-bit. Start with the detected or lowest sensible preset at native resolution, then reduce shadows, volumetric effects, reflections, and view distance in that order if frame time is unstable. Keep a lower-resolution fallback available, but treat it as a troubleshooting step rather than a promised target.
Eight gigabytes is the published floor, not a guarantee that background applications will leave enough headroom. Close browsers, launchers, recording tools, and overlays while testing. If the game reports memory pressure or produces severe stutter, verify that the operating system has adequate virtual-memory space and retest with nonessential programs closed.
PCs at the recommended tier
The recommended listing specifies a GTX 1070 with 8 GB or an RX 5700 XT with 8 GB, 12 GB of RAM, Windows 11 64-bit, and DirectX 12. Begin with the detected or High preset at native resolution. If the late-game test is stable, you can raise individual options—shadows, volumetrics, reflections, or view distance—one at a time. If it is not stable, reverse that order before reducing resolution.

A GTX 1070 or RX 5700 XT is the published graphics target, but the listing still does not state what resolution or frame rate that target represents. Consider it the sensible baseline for image-quality experiments, not proof of a particular preset.
PCs above the recommended tier
Extra GPU power gives you room to test higher quality, but it does not eliminate CPU or simulation limits. A large strategy map may become limited by turn processing or object visibility rather than raw shader load. Hold resolution and the frame-time goal constant while increasing one visual option at a time; otherwise you will not know whether a smoother-looking scene is actually stable during turns.
Can a GTX 1060 or GTX 1070 run HUMANKIND 2?
| GPU | What the published requirements establish | What remains unknown |
|---|---|---|
| GeForce GTX 1060 | It is not listed as an official minimum or recommended model. Compare your card’s memory and performance with the published GTX 960 4 GB minimum. | No public HUMANKIND 2 benchmark confirms resolution, preset, frame rate, or stability for either GTX 1060 memory variant. |
| GeForce GTX 1070 8 GB | It is explicitly named in the recommended specification. | The listing does not say whether that means 1080p, 1440p, a specific preset, or a frame-rate target. |
For a GTX 1060 system, use the minimum-tier workflow and regard any successful result as something to verify in the released build. For a GTX 1070 system, use the recommended-tier workflow, but still validate busy and late-game scenes. Neither conclusion can be converted into a guaranteed FPS claim before independent testing exists.

RAM, VRAM, DirectX, and storage: what matters?
System memory
HUMANKIND 2 lists 8 GB of RAM as minimum and 12 GB as recommended. The 12 GB figure is the safer starting point for a strategy game that maintains a large map, faction state, and late-game assets in memory. The listing does not publish a higher-capacity requirement, a measured usage figure, or a statement that 16 GB is necessary.
Graphics memory
The named GPUs carry 4 GB, 8 GB, and 8 GB of VRAM respectively: GTX 960 minimum, RX 5500 XT minimum, and GTX 1070 or RX 5700 XT recommended. Those are capacities of the example cards in the specification, not a separately stated HUMANKIND 2 VRAM requirement. If the game exposes a texture-memory warning, use it to decide whether to lower textures; do not infer a precise requirement from the card names alone.
Recommended Free Tools
DirectX and Windows
The minimum path is Windows 10 64-bit with DirectX 11. The recommended path is Windows 11 64-bit with DirectX 12. If the released game offers an API selector, test the recommended DirectX 12 path first on a system that meets that tier, then try DirectX 11 only to troubleshoot crashes or rendering problems. The published listing does not report comparative performance between the APIs.
Best Value
- Spacious Design: Measuring 21.1" wide and 12" deep, our lap desk comfortably fits most laptops up to 15.6". Extra room for accessories ensures convenience.
- Enhanced Functionality: Packed with handy features, including a 5x9" precision tracking mouse pad and a built-in phone slot for seamless work or video calls. Plus, enjoy laptop support with the integrated device ledge.

- On-the-Go Convenience: With an integrated handle and lightweight design (2.14 lbs), our lap desk is portable for travel or moving around the house, offering flexibility in any space.
Storage
Both tiers specify 20 GB of storage. Keep more free space than the stated requirement so Windows, shader caches, updates, and save files are not competing with a nearly full drive. The listing does not require an SSD or publish loading-time measurements, so do not promise a specific drive type benefit.
Troubleshooting an unstable profile
Low or inconsistent frame rate
- Confirm that the game is using the intended GPU and that the monitor is connected to it.
- Return to the detected or High preset, then lower shadows, volumetrics, reflections, and view distance individually.
- Check a late-game save rather than judging performance only in the opening turns.
- If the GPU is near the minimum tier, reduce the overall preset and keep textures higher only if memory remains stable.
Stutter or texture pop-in
- Close background applications and overlays, then repeat the same camera route.
- Lower texture quality if the card is running out of VRAM or if the game reports texture-streaming pressure.
- Leave additional free storage for caches and updates; the published 20 GB is the installation requirement, not a recommended free-space reserve.
Crashes or rendering errors
- Verify that your Windows edition and DirectX path meet at least the minimum listing.
- Update the graphics driver and test the other DirectX mode only if the game provides that option.
- Reset custom settings to the detected profile before changing individual options again.
How future reviews should test the “best” settings
When a public build is available, a meaningful comparison should report more than an average FPS number. Test native resolution and every supported upscaling mode, record frame-time consistency in early and late eras, and repeat the run on a dense map. Measure the cost of shadows, volumetric effects, reflections, and view distance separately; record VRAM use; and distinguish camera performance from CPU-bound turn processing. Results should identify the exact Windows, DirectX, driver, resolution, preset, map size, and save state used.
Until those measurements exist, any article claiming a confirmed Ultra setting, a guaranteed 60 FPS result, or a definitive upscaler recommendation is going beyond the published evidence.
Verdict
Use the published requirements as the boundary: GTX 960/RX 5500 XT and 8 GB RAM are the minimum starting point, while GTX 1070/RX 5700 XT and 12 GB RAM are the recommended target. At launch, begin at native resolution with the detected or High preset, set your own stable frame-time goal, and reduce shadows, volumetrics, reflections, and view distance one at a time. Recheck crowded late-game maps before calling the profile best. HUMANKIND 2 is listed for 2027, so tested settings and FPS claims must wait for the released game and independent benchmarks.
