For the smoothest competitive experience, start with Graphics Quality: Low, choose Max Frame Rate (or the highest tier your phone can hold without stutter or overheating), and turn off Depth of Field and Real-Time Shadows. Then adjust sensitivity and the HUD in small steps. This prioritizes consistent frame delivery and clear targets over visual effects; it is a practical starting point, not a guarantee that every device will sustain maximum frame rate.

Start with a stable graphics-and-frame-rate target

A high graphics preset can look better while feeling worse if it causes uneven frame delivery. In fast multiplayer fights, a consistent image is generally more useful than extra shadows, blur, or detail. Google Play’s Call of Duty: Mobile editorial guide recommends Low graphics and Max frame rate for performance-focused play. Because phones differ in cooling, chipset performance, display refresh rate, available memory, and game build, treat that combination as a baseline to test rather than a universal benchmark.

Think of the graphics menu as a choice between visual detail and sustained responsiveness. A setting that looks excellent in the lobby can become uncomfortable after a long match if the device heats up and begins throttling. Conversely, a phone that stays cool at Low may deliver a more predictable aim and camera response even though its image is less detailed. No published device comparison establishes one winning profile for every model.

Recommended first pass

  1. Open Call of Duty: Mobile and tap the Settings gear.
  2. Open the Audio and Graphics (or similarly named graphics) section.
  3. Set Graphics Quality to Low.
  4. Set Frame Rate to Max, or the highest option that remains stable during a full match.
  5. Disable Depth of Field.
  6. Disable Real-Time Shadows.
  7. Play the same mode for several minutes, including a busy fight, and watch for hitching, heat, or a sudden drop in responsiveness.

Test in the mode you actually play. A quiet practice area may not reproduce the effects, players, and movement that stress the phone in a live match. Repeat the test after the device has been running long enough to become warm; early-match smoothness alone does not prove that frame delivery will remain steady.

Yojaro 4Pack Silicone Suction Phone Case Mount, Silicon Adhesive Smartphones Stand Sticky, Hands-Free Phone Accessories Holder for Selfies and Videos (Black & White & Translucent & Light Pink)
  • 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
  • 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
  • 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
  • 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
  • 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)

If Max produces repeated stutters, lower the frame-rate tier one step before raising graphics quality. A lower but steady frame rate is preferable to a higher setting that fluctuates. The guide does not provide a device-by-device FPS test or quantify the gain from any individual toggle, so do not expect a fixed number of extra frames.

What to do with other visual options

Activision’s detailed controls and graphics overview from October 9, 2019 lists options such as Anti-Aliasing, Bloom, and Ragdolls. Current releases may rename, move, add, or remove these controls. Use the labels shown in your installed version. If you need more stability after the first pass, disable optional effects one at a time and replay the same scenario. If the phone remains cool and frame delivery is steady, you can raise a visual setting for a clearer or more attractive image, but recheck performance after every change.

Choice What it favors When to choose it
Low graphics + highest stable frame rate Consistency, responsiveness, and target visibility Ranked or competitive play, older phones, or any device that stutters
Higher graphics + lower frame-rate tier Visual detail at the cost of motion smoothness Casual play when the device remains stable and you prefer image quality
Depth of Field off Less cinematic blur and a clearer view Use as an initial performance and visibility adjustment
Real-Time Shadows off Fewer dynamic lighting effects Use when frame pacing or heat is a problem

There is no cited evidence that one configuration is optimal for every phone, screen size, game mode, or operating-system version. The useful comparison is not “best graphics” in the abstract; it is visual detail versus sustained stability on your device.

How to judge stability without fooling yourself

  • Use the same map or practice scenario when comparing two settings.
  • Play long enough to include a firefight, movement through a busy area, and several visual effects.
  • Change one graphics option at a time and record whether the symptom changed.
  • Note heat, touch responsiveness, and visible hitching rather than relying only on how attractive the image looks.
  • Keep the profile that remains predictable across a complete session, not merely the one that produces the highest peak setting.

Check whether the problem is FPS or network lag

Settings cannot fix every kind of “lag.” A frame-rate problem is local: the picture judders, input feels delayed even when your connection indicator looks normal, the phone becomes hot, or the game slows during effects-heavy scenes. Network trouble usually appears as players warping, delayed hit registration, sudden disconnects, or a connection warning while the image itself remains smooth. Call of Duty: Mobile requires a network connection, so a reliable connection is part of a playable setup.

Signs of a frame-rate or thermal problem

  • Stutter increases during explosions, smoke, or crowded areas.
  • The phone becomes unusually warm and performance worsens over the match.
  • Touch input and camera movement feel uneven in practice or another offline-capable test.
  • Lowering graphics or frame rate changes the symptom.
  • The same hitch occurs at the same visual moment even when other players are not teleporting.

Signs of a connection problem

  • Characters teleport or actions register several seconds late.
  • The network indicator appears while your frame animation remains smooth.
  • The issue changes dramatically between Wi-Fi and mobile data.
  • You see disconnects or matchmaking errors rather than a consistently choppy picture.

Activision Support recommends a strong Wi-Fi connection for connection trouble or in-game lag and suggests restarting the device to refresh the connection. Do not keep lowering graphics to solve a Wi-Fi problem; troubleshoot the network separately. If both symptoms occur, fix the connection first and then retest graphics so that one problem does not hide the other.

Use sensitivity ranges as starting points, not “pro” settings

Google Play’s guide lists these starting ranges:

Control Suggested starting range How to interpret it
Standard Sensitivity 90–100 General camera movement and non-ADS turning
ADS Sensitivity 130–150 Movement while aiming down sights
Gyroscope standard movement 130–160 Motion-based camera movement when gyroscope is enabled

These are configuration recommendations, not measurements from a controlled device test. Screen size, touch sampling, fingers, case friction, preferred weapons, and personal control style all change what feels manageable. A value that is comfortable on one phone can feel too fast on another. The ranges are useful places to begin, not targets that make someone a “pro.”

Apple EarPods Headphones with USB-C Plug, Wired Ear Buds with Built-in Remote to Control Music, Phone Calls, and Volume
  • SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
  • HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
  • BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
  • COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
  • INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.

Standard and ADS sensitivity should be considered together. If turning is comfortable but the reticle overshoots when you aim down sights, adjust ADS rather than changing every slider. If close-range turns are too slow while long-range tracking feels fine, change the relevant movement setting in a small increment and leave the others alone.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A repeatable tuning method

  1. Choose one practice drill, such as tracking a moving target and then making a 180-degree turn.
  2. Change only one slider by a small amount, such as five points.
  3. Repeat the same drill for several minutes.
  4. Keep the change if you can stop on targets more reliably without over-aiming; otherwise return to the previous value.
  5. Only then adjust the next slider.

Large simultaneous changes make it impossible to know which setting helped. Keep a note of values if you are experimenting across Multiplayer and Battle Royale, because a sensitivity that works for close-quarters turning may feel too fast for long-range aim. Do not judge a value after one missed shot; look for a repeatable pattern over several attempts.

Decide whether to use gyroscope aiming

A gyroscope uses the phone’s physical movement to control camera or aim direction. Activision describes two broad choices: enable it for all aiming and look controls, or enable it only while aiming down sights (ADS). Google Play notes that it can provide fluid camera control in Battle Royale.

When gyroscope is worth trying

  • You are comfortable tilting the phone rather than relying entirely on thumb movement.
  • You want fine corrections while tracking a target.
  • You can hold the device steadily without tiring your wrists.
  • You are willing to practice a new input method before using it in a serious match.

When to leave it off

  • Small involuntary movements make the reticle drift.
  • You play in a position where the phone cannot be tilted consistently.
  • You are still learning basic touch aiming and want fewer variables.
  • Movement of the device makes your view less predictable than thumb input.

Start with ADS-only gyroscope if the game offers that option. Use the 130–160 standard-movement range as an initial reference, then tune it with the same one-change-at-a-time drill. Gyroscope is optional; it is not required for smooth frame rate or accurate shooting. Evaluate it in a controlled practice scenario before deciding whether it belongs in your everyday layout.

Set field of view for visibility without assuming one perfect value

The Google Play guide suggests trying a field of view (FOV) around 75. Activision’s 2019 article documents first-person camera FOV values from 51 to 75. A wider view can show more of the scene, while a narrower view can make distant targets appear larger. The practical result depends on screen dimensions, aspect ratio, mode, and your eyesight.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Try 75 if you want a broader peripheral view, then play a few matches before deciding. If distant targets look too small or aiming feels uncomfortable, reduce it. Do not describe 75 as a verified optimum for the current build: the cited material does not test every device or mode. Change FOV separately from sensitivity so you can tell whether a new visual perspective, rather than a faster control setting, caused the improvement or discomfort.

Configure aim assist deliberately

Aim Assist is an available option that can help newer players or anyone who wants assistance keeping shots on target. Enable it if you are learning or if it makes target tracking more comfortable. Treat it as an aid, not a guarantee of accuracy and not a replacement for practicing recoil control, positioning, and crosshair placement. Experienced players may prefer to test with it on and off in the same drill and keep the choice that gives them more predictable control.

Build a HUD that fits your hands

Use Settings > Controls > Custom Layout to move on-screen buttons and change their size and opacity. Menu names can vary by game version. Activision’s controls guide also documents Simple and Advanced fire modes and options for fixed-fire and joystick buttons; confirm which labels and toggles are present in your current installation.

HUD setup procedure

  1. Open Settings, then Controls.
  2. Select Custom Layout.
  3. Move the fire, aim, movement, crouch, jump, reload, weapon-switch, and ability buttons within comfortable reach.
  4. Increase a button’s size if you miss it under pressure; reduce opacity only after you can still find it quickly.
  5. Leave enough empty screen area to see targets and avoid accidental taps.
  6. Save the layout and test it in practice before changing several buttons again.

Arrange controls around how you actually hold the phone, not around a layout copied from a different screen. Check reach with both hands, verify that the fire button does not sit where your palm rests, and make sure movement controls remain visible when the action becomes busy. A button that is technically reachable but forces an awkward stretch can create missed inputs.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

There is no cited comparison proving that a two-, three-, or four-finger arrangement is universally superior. Use the fewest fingers that let you move, aim, fire, and perform movement actions without taking your thumb off a critical control. Players with larger screens may have room for more simultaneous controls; smaller phones may benefit from fewer, larger buttons.

Simple versus Advanced fire controls

Simple fire can reduce the number of decisions for a new player, while Advanced controls provide more direct control over when and how weapons fire. Fixed-fire and joystick options similarly trade convenience for customization. Choose based on whether you are missing buttons, firing accidentally, or wanting finer control; do not change the entire control scheme while also changing sensitivity, because that makes the result difficult to evaluate.

Consider a controller only if you want controller input

Activision supports compatible controllers in Multiplayer and Battle Royale. A controller can change the feel of aiming and movement, but it is not a graphics upgrade and should not be presented as a way to increase FPS, reduce network latency, or make an underpowered phone faster. Native touch input is still required for menus, settings, and loadouts.

Minimum requirements and what they do not promise

Activision Support’s page updated February 25, 2026 lists these minimum compatibility requirements:

Platform Minimum operating system Minimum memory
Android Android 6.0 or later At least 2 GB RAM
iPhone/iPad iOS 15.0 or later At least 2 GB RAM

Meeting a minimum requirement means the game is within the published compatibility baseline. It does not mean the phone can run high graphics, sustain Max frame rate, avoid thermal throttling, or deliver identical performance after every update. A device can meet the minimum and still need Low graphics, a lower frame-rate tier, or reduced effects for a stable session.

Troubleshoot freezes, crashes, and persistent stutter

When settings changes do not solve a problem, use reliability steps rather than repeatedly changing sliders. Activision Support recommends trying fixes one at a time:

  1. Restart the device.
  2. Update Call of Duty: Mobile and the device operating system.
  3. On Android, clear the app cache through the system’s app settings.
  4. Reconnect to a strong Wi-Fi network if the symptom looks like connection lag.
  5. Reopen the game and reproduce the same scenario before applying another fix.

Clearing cache, updating, and restarting can address freezes or crashes; they are not promises of a higher frame rate. If the phone becomes hot, stop playing for a few minutes, remove a heat-trapping case if safe, and retest with Low graphics and a lower frame-rate tier. Persistent crashes after updates may require checking Activision’s current support guidance because menu paths and known issues change.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do not apply every fix at once. If the issue disappears after an update, you know where to look if it returns. If it remains, repeat the same graphics test and compare the result with a network test so that a crash, stutter, and connection fault are not treated as one problem.

A practical order for your final setup

  1. Stabilize performance: Low graphics, highest sustained frame-rate tier, Depth of Field off, and Real-Time Shadows off.
  2. Confirm the symptom is not network-related.
  3. Set a comfortable HUD in Custom Layout before fine-tuning aim.
  4. Start sensitivity near 90–100 standard and 130–150 ADS, then adjust in small increments.
  5. Test optional gyroscope and Aim Assist separately.
  6. Try FOV around 75 only after basic aiming feels consistent.
  7. Raise visual effects one at a time only if the phone remains stable through a complete match.
  8. Record the final values so an update or accidental reset does not force you to rebuild the setup from memory.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best FPS setting for Call of Duty: Mobile?

Use the highest frame-rate option your device can sustain consistently. The practical baseline is Max with Low graphics, but lower the frame-rate tier if you see stutter, overheating, or unstable delivery.

Why does COD Mobile still lag after lowering graphics?

The problem may be network lag rather than rendering performance. Warping, delayed hit registration, and connection warnings point to the network; use strong Wi-Fi and restart the device before changing more graphics options.

Can I use a controller in COD Mobile?

Compatible controllers are supported in Multiplayer and Battle Royale, while menus, settings, and loadouts still require native device controls.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What sensitivity should I use?

Use 90–100 for Standard Sensitivity, 130–150 for ADS, and 130–160 for gyroscope standard movement as starting ranges. Adjust one slider at a time because device size, touch response, and personal preference change the result.

Should I turn on the gyroscope?

It is optional. Try ADS-only gyroscope if you are comfortable tilting the phone and want fine aim corrections; leave it off if the reticle drifts or the movement feels distracting.

Is FOV 75 the best setting?

Around 75 is a suggested starting point, not a proven universal optimum. A wider view shows more of the scene, while a narrower view can make distant targets appear larger, so test what feels clear on your screen.

How do I change my COD Mobile HUD?

Open Settings, choose Controls, and select Custom Layout. Move buttons and adjust their size and opacity, then save and test the arrangement in practice. Menu labels can vary by game version.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Will the minimum phone requirements guarantee smooth Max frame rate?

No. Activision lists Android 6.0 or later with at least 2 GB RAM and iOS 15.0 or later with at least 2 GB RAM as minimum compatibility requirements. They do not guarantee high graphics, Max frame rate, or freedom from thermal throttling.

The Bottom Line

For a smoother Call of Duty: Mobile session, begin with Low graphics, the highest frame-rate tier your device can hold, Depth of Field off, and Real-Time Shadows off. Separate network symptoms from FPS problems, then tune the HUD, sensitivity, gyroscope, FOV, and aim assist one change at a time. These settings are starting points; sustained stability on your own device matters more than any single preset.
