For everyday fitness and wellness tracking, compare the Garmin vívoactive 6 and Venu 4. Choose a Forerunner if running and training features matter more than a general-purpose wellness focus. If you want the watch to record weight measurements, check model and software compatibility—or consider Garmin’s Index S2 smart scale. A watch can help you log activity and related metrics, but Garmin’s product information does not show that wearing one causes weight loss.
Which Garmin watch fits your fitness priorities?
Garmin’s wellness lineup includes the vívoactive 6 and Venu 4, as well as other models such as Lily 2 and Venu X1. The right choice depends on the features and form factor you want; Garmin does not present one watch as a weight-loss solution. Its wellness watch selector is a useful starting point, but check the individual model page for current availability and specifications.
| Your priority | Models to compare | Why they may fit |
|---|---|---|
| Everyday fitness and wellness | vívoactive 6 and Venu 4 | Both appear in Garmin’s wellness lineup. Garmin’s model comparison covers sleep score and related health features. |
| Running and training tools | Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 965 | Garmin’s comparisons distinguish the Forerunner line with more advanced running and training options. The 965 comparison includes mapping and multi-band GPS. |
| Recorded weight measurements | Index S2 smart scale, optionally alongside a watch | Garmin describes the scale as providing weight and body-composition data; it serves a different purpose from a watch’s activity tracking. |
These are comparison starting points, not interchangeable feature bundles. GPS, sports features, training tools, display, battery life, size, and controls differ by model. Garmin summarizes common activity features and line-level differences in its guide to comparing watches for staying active.

|---|---|---|
| vívoactive 6 | Up to 11 days in smartwatch mode; 5 days with always-on display. Garmin’s comparison with the Forerunner 965 listed it at $299.99 USD. | Battery estimates and listed price are model-specific and may change. The price is the captured listing, not a guarantee of today’s price. |
| Venu 4 | Sleep score and up to 12 days of smartwatch-mode battery life; the comparison also lists ECG app availability and an LED flashlight. | The flashlight and cited comparison details refer to the 45 mm Venu 4. ECG availability and features can vary by region and model. |

Garmin’s comparison of the Forerunner 570, vívoactive 6, and Venu 4 shows how activity and wellness features vary across those lines. Its vívoactive 6 and Forerunner 965 comparison is more relevant if mapping, GPS, or training functions are central to your choice.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Can a Garmin watch track your weight?
Garmin’s February 24, 2026 smartwatch and cycling computer feature update marks weight tracking in its feature matrix for Venu X1, Venu 4, vívoactive 6, and Forerunner 570/970. That is a dated software update, not a blanket statement that every Garmin watch can record weight. Check the current support documentation for your exact model and software version before relying on the feature.

For a dedicated way to take and record weight measurements, Garmin lists the Index S2 smart scale as providing weight and body-composition data. It is an optional companion; a watch is not required for the scale to serve its measurement purpose.

How to choose without overbuying
- Start with the activity you actually do. For everyday wellness and general workouts, compare vívoactive 6 and Venu 4. If running metrics or training tools are your priority, compare Forerunner models instead.
- Check the feature, not just the product family. Confirm that the exact model and size offer the GPS, training, sleep, or weight-tracking feature you want.
- Consider comfort and display preferences. Size, controls, display behavior, and battery estimates affect daily wear; compare the specific variants rather than assuming line-wide specifications.
- Separate activity logging from weight measurement. A watch can record activity and related metrics. For scale-based weight and body-composition measurements, Garmin lists the Index S2.
- Treat weight loss as a personal outcome, not a device specification. Garmin’s feature pages describe tracking capabilities; they do not establish that a watch causes weight reduction or guarantees results.
