The best gaming mouse is the one whose shell fits your hand and grip before its headline specifications enter the discussion. For a pronounced right-handed, palm-supporting shape, choose the Razer DeathAdder V3 Pro. For a lighter, medium-sized symmetrical shell that accommodates more hand sizes and grip styles, choose the Logitech G PRO X SUPERLIGHT 2. TechRadar’s 2026 guide names the newer Razer DeathAdder V4 Pro its best overall gaming mouse, while GamesRadar rates the Logitech G Pro X SUPERLIGHT 2 DEX highly for wireless competitive play.

Independent testing matters more than maximum DPI. RTINGS found somewhat better sensor accuracy on the DeathAdder V3 Pro, but significantly better sensor latency and an 8,000 Hz stock maximum wireless polling rate on the SUPERLIGHT 2. The guide below explains which shape, sensor behavior, weight and wireless features fit different players, and how to avoid paying for specifications that do not improve your aim.

Quick picks

Mouse Shell and grip fit Evidence and specifications Best for Important qualification
Razer DeathAdder V3 Pro Large, pronounced right-handed ergonomic contour; strongest match for palm support 61.7 g default weight; Focus Pro 30K optical sensor; RTINGS found somewhat better sensor accuracy (RTINGS comparison, updated 2026) Right-handed palm and palm-claw players who want a substantial hump and thumb rest The larger asymmetric shell is less accommodating to other hand sizes and grip preferences than a medium symmetrical design
Logitech G PRO X SUPERLIGHT 2 Medium symmetrical shell; accommodates a wider range of hand sizes and grips 59.4 g default weight; significantly better sensor latency than the DeathAdder V3 Pro; 8,000 Hz stock maximum wireless polling (RTINGS, updated 2026) Competitive FPS players who use claw, fingertip or mixed grips and want a light wireless mouse Its neutral contour provides less dedicated palm support than the DeathAdder
Razer DeathAdder V4 Pro Updated DeathAdder-style ergonomic design TechRadar’s 2026 guide calls it the best overall gaming mouse and describes its sensor as the most performant in the DeathAdder line; independent figures were not stated in the cited guide Buyers who want the newest DeathAdder generation Check the exact regional specification, firmware and price before purchase
Logitech G Pro X SUPERLIGHT 2 DEX Wireless competitive-focused variant; verify its contour against your grip in current listings GamesRadar ranks it highly for wireless competitive gaming and notes 8,000 Hz polling Players prioritizing high-rate wireless performance in Logitech’s Pro family The cited coverage does not establish a complete hand-size or sensor-accuracy comparison with the two main picks
Razer Viper V3 Pro Less ergonomic, low-contact shape GamesRadar says the shape is better suited to fingertip grip Fingertip users who do not want a pronounced palm contour It is not the choice for players seeking DeathAdder-style palm support

Why shell shape comes before sensor specifications

A sensor can report movement accurately and still feel wrong if the shell forces your wrist, fingers or thumb into an unfamiliar position. Shape determines where your palm rests, how far your fingers reach the main buttons, and whether you can make small corrections without lifting or squeezing the mouse. Those factors affect consistency in long sessions more directly than a large number printed beside “DPI.”

Right-handed ergonomic shells

An ergonomic shell slopes and rises to support one hand, normally adding a thumb ledge and a fuller palm contact area. The DeathAdder V3 Pro is the clearest example in this guide: Razer positions it as an ergonomic esports mouse, and its larger right-handed body is intended to let a palm settle naturally rather than hover over a narrow centreline. This style is often the easiest starting point for a right-handed palm grip or a palm-claw hybrid.

Symmetrical and ambidextrous-friendly shells

A symmetrical shell keeps its main body balanced from left to right. It can feel more neutral when you change between claw and fingertip positions, and it usually gives smaller or medium-sized hands more freedom to move their fingers. RTINGS describes the SUPERLIGHT 2 as medium-sized and more accommodating across hand sizes and grip types than the larger DeathAdder V3 Pro. “Symmetrical” does not automatically mean that every side button is mirrored, so inspect the button layout if you need true left-handed use.

Match the mouse to your grip and hand size

Grip What should contact the mouse Shape priority Models to investigate first
Palm Most of the palm rests on the rear hump; fingers lie relatively flat Longer body, broad rear support and a stable thumb ledge DeathAdder V3 Pro; DeathAdder V4 Pro if its current dimensions suit your hand
Claw Rear of the palm touches the shell while fingers arch over the buttons A hump that supports the rear of the hand without blocking fingertip movement SUPERLIGHT 2 for a neutral starting point; DeathAdder V3 Pro for a larger right-handed contour
Fingertip Only fingertips control the mouse; the palm stays off the shell Low-contact, less restrictive body with room for fine finger corrections Viper V3 Pro according to GamesRadar; SUPERLIGHT 2 for a symmetrical alternative

Large hands

Large hands generally need enough length and rear support to prevent the fingers from hanging over the front buttons. The DeathAdder V3 Pro’s larger right-handed shape is the more obvious candidate when you want your palm supported. Do not assume that “large” means “best”: if you use fingertip grip, a bulky rear hump can interfere with the movement you are trying to preserve.

Medium and smaller hands

The SUPERLIGHT 2’s medium symmetrical form is a safer first test when you are unsure which grip you naturally use or when several people share a mouse. A neutral body lets you reposition your hand without the side contour dictating your thumb and ring-finger placement. Confirm actual length and width in the current product listing; the evidence cited here establishes the comparative shape, not a universal hand-size cutoff.

Razer DeathAdder V3 Pro: ergonomic palm support

Choose the DeathAdder V3 Pro when your priority is a pronounced right-handed contour rather than maximum shape neutrality. RTINGS reports that it has a larger right-handed shape and somewhat better sensor accuracy than the Logitech G PRO X SUPERLIGHT 2. The default tested weight is 61.7 g, light enough for fast aiming while retaining a fuller body than many minimalist designs.

Sensor and tracking

Razer specifies its Focus Pro 30K optical sensor. “30K” is the sensor’s maximum DPI setting, not a promise that aiming at 30,000 DPI is more precise. The useful evidence is RTINGS’ independent finding of somewhat better sensor accuracy in its comparison. Keep your in-game sensitivity and DPI consistent while evaluating the mouse so that you are judging the shape and tracking behavior, not a changed sensitivity scale.

Who should buy it

  • Right-handed players who want their palm to settle into a dedicated support area.
  • Palm or palm-claw users whose fingers feel stretched on a smaller symmetrical shell.
  • Players who value the measured accuracy advantage in RTINGS’ 2026 comparison.

Who should look elsewhere

If you frequently switch to fingertip grip, need a compact neutral shell, or want one shape that accommodates several hand sizes, the larger asymmetric contour may feel restrictive. The SUPERLIGHT 2 is the more adaptable starting point in those cases.

Logitech G PRO X SUPERLIGHT 2: light symmetrical flexibility

The SUPERLIGHT 2 is the better fit when you want a medium, symmetrical shell and a wireless implementation built around low latency. RTINGS measured a 59.4 g default weight, 2.3 g less than the tested DeathAdder V3 Pro, and describes the Logitech shape as more accommodating across hand sizes and grip types.

Latency and polling

RTINGS found significantly better sensor latency on the SUPERLIGHT 2. Its stock maximum wireless polling rate is 8,000 Hz, meaning the receiver can report movement at a much higher rate than conventional settings when the mouse, firmware, game and computer are configured for it. Polling rate is secondary to a shell that fits; a fast report schedule cannot compensate for a grip that causes tension or inconsistent contact.

Who should buy it

  • FPS players who alternate between claw and fingertip positions.
  • Users with medium-sized hands who want a neutral body rather than a strong right-hand slope.
  • Players who specifically value the lower measured sensor latency and 8,000 Hz wireless option.

Trade-offs

The same neutrality that makes the SUPERLIGHT 2 broadly accommodating means it offers less dedicated palm support than the DeathAdder. If your hand naturally wants a tall rear hump and a thumb shelf, test the Razer shape first.

Newer and specialist alternatives

Razer DeathAdder V4 Pro

TechRadar’s 2026 gaming-mouse guide recommends the DeathAdder V4 Pro as its best overall mouse for most people. The guide describes it as combining the familiar DeathAdder design with Razer’s most performant sensor in that line. That is a current editorial recommendation, not an independent latency or accuracy measurement, so treat it as a reason to investigate the model rather than proof that it will fit every hand. Confirm the exact shell dimensions, included receiver, firmware and regional variant before ordering.

Logitech G Pro X SUPERLIGHT 2 DEX

GamesRadar ranks the SUPERLIGHT 2 DEX highly for wireless competitive gaming and calls out its 8,000 Hz polling capability. The cited coverage does not provide a complete apples-to-apples table of hand-size fit, sensor accuracy and latency against the original SUPERLIGHT 2. Consider it when you want the Pro family’s competitive wireless focus, then compare the current DEX contour and button arrangement with your grip.

Razer Viper V3 Pro

GamesRadar says the Viper V3 Pro’s less ergonomic shape is better suited to fingertip grip. That makes it a deliberate alternative to the DeathAdder rather than a replacement for it: choose the Viper when you prefer minimal palm contact and finger-led control, not when you are looking for a supportive right-handed hump.

Logitech G Pro X3 Superstrike specifications

TechRadar’s 2026 review lists a 48,000 DPI maximum and 930 IPS tracking speed for the Logitech G Pro X3 Superstrike. Those are specification ceilings. They describe the range the hardware is rated to handle, not the sensitivity or speed you should use in a game, and they do not replace independent measurements of accuracy, latency or lift-off behavior. Treat them as compatibility information while you evaluate the shell and measured performance.

How to choose a reliable gaming mouse step by step

  1. Write down your natural grip. Observe whether your palm rests on the shell, arches at the rear, or stays clear while your fingertips steer. Do this during a normal game rather than forcing a shape to match a label.
  2. Choose the shell family. Start with the DeathAdder line for pronounced right-handed support, the SUPERLIGHT 2 for medium symmetrical flexibility, or the Viper V3 Pro for a fingertip-oriented low-contact form.
  3. Check hand-size compatibility. Compare the current listing’s length, width and height with a mouse you already control comfortably. The comparative evidence in this guide does not establish universal small, medium or large-hand boundaries.
  4. Prioritize measured behavior. Look for independent testing of sensor accuracy and latency. In the central RTINGS comparison, the DeathAdder V3 Pro leads on accuracy while the SUPERLIGHT 2 leads on latency; decide which difference matters for your play and grip.
  5. Use weight and balance as tie-breakers. The tested default weights are close: 61.7 g for the DeathAdder V3 Pro and 59.4 g for the SUPERLIGHT 2. Balance and contact points can matter more than a small weight difference, so check whether your thumb and ring finger can guide the mouse without squeezing.
  6. Evaluate polling after shape. The SUPERLIGHT 2’s 8,000 Hz stock wireless maximum is useful only if your system and games handle the setting smoothly. Do not select an uncomfortable mouse solely for a larger polling number.
  7. Verify controls and software. Count the buttons you actually use, check their placement, and confirm that the current software and firmware support your operating system. Button layouts, battery figures and included accessories are model- and revision-specific and should be checked on the current listing.
  8. Check return coverage and regional details. Prices, stock, firmware and wireless bundles change by region and date. A return window is particularly valuable when you cannot test the shell in person.

Configure and test the mouse without confusing the results

1. Update firmware before judging wireless performance

Install the manufacturer’s current device software, update the mouse and receiver if updates are offered, then reconnect the receiver exactly as instructed. A test made before a required firmware update can reflect an old implementation rather than the product you will use.

2. Establish one consistent sensitivity

Pick a DPI and in-game sensitivity you can control, record both values, and keep them unchanged while comparing mice. Changing sensitivity at the same time as the shell makes it impossible to tell whether a difference came from shape, sensor behavior or settings.

3. Test ordinary and low-sensitivity movements

Use the same desk surface and make slow tracking passes, quick turns and repeated small corrections. Low-sensitivity players should pay attention to whether the body stays balanced during large sweeps and whether the cable or receiver placement interrupts movement. The test is about repeatability, not achieving the highest cursor speed.

4. Try every grip you might use

Play several rounds with your normal grip, then briefly try the alternative you use when tired. Note pressure in the thumb, wrist and fingertips, and whether your ring finger drags on the pad. A mouse that feels excellent for five minutes but forces a squeeze after a longer session is a poor ergonomic match.

5. Increase polling only after the baseline is stable

Begin with a conventional polling setting, confirm that aim and desktop movement are stable, and then raise it in the device software if your model supports higher rates. Compare the same game, sensitivity and surface at each setting. If frame pacing, battery use or system responsiveness becomes worse, return to the last stable setting; the shell and controlled tracking matter more than the maximum available rate.

Common buying mistakes and how to avoid them

Buying by DPI alone

Maximum DPI and IPS are ceilings, not aim scores. The 30K Focus Pro rating on the DeathAdder V3 Pro and the 48,000 DPI/930 IPS figures cited for the G Pro X3 Superstrike do not establish which mouse tracks your hand more accurately at a practical sensitivity. Use independent accuracy and latency measurements first.

Assuming lighter always means better

A lower mass can make broad sweeps feel easier, but a shell that lacks the support your grip needs may cause extra finger pressure. The 2.3 g difference between the two RTINGS-tested main picks is small compared with the effect of a correct or incorrect contour.

Choosing 8,000 Hz without checking the rest of the system

High polling is an option, not a requirement. It can be valuable to competitive players who have a compatible game and a system that remains smooth at the setting, but it does not repair poor grip fit or inaccurate habits. Test it rather than assuming the maximum is automatically preferable.

Ignoring handedness and button placement

The DeathAdder V3 Pro is explicitly right-handed. A symmetrical body such as the SUPERLIGHT 2 may suit more users, but symmetry alone does not guarantee mirrored side controls. Confirm which buttons are reachable from your preferred hand before buying.

Trusting a product page to answer every performance question

Manufacturer pages are the right place to verify a named sensor, supported features and included hardware. They do not, by themselves, establish comparative latency or tracking accuracy. Use independent testing for those claims and keep the test conditions and date attached to the result.

Decision summary

  • Pick the DeathAdder V3 Pro when a large, right-handed ergonomic shell and palm support are your first requirements, with RTINGS’ measured accuracy advantage as a supporting benefit.
  • Pick the SUPERLIGHT 2 when you want a medium symmetrical body, broad grip compatibility, lower measured sensor latency and an 8,000 Hz stock wireless maximum.
  • Investigate the DeathAdder V4 Pro if you specifically want the newest DeathAdder generation and accept that the cited recommendation does not supply independent comparative figures.
  • Consider the SUPERLIGHT 2 DEX or Viper V3 Pro for their stated competitive-wireless or fingertip-oriented positioning, while verifying the exact current shell and controls.
