If you want a game with satisfying combat while you wait for Phantom Blade Zero, choose based on the part you’re most eager for: precise sword duels, fast martial-arts action, or Chinese fantasy adventure. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, and Black Myth: Wukong each offer a different overlap—not a promise of the same combat or overall experience.
What Phantom Blade Zero is—and what to look for
PlayStation describes Phantom Blade Zero as a dark wuxia action RPG drawing on traditional martial arts and punk fantasy. Its protagonist, Soul, is framed for murdering his master and has 66 days left to live. Those details point to a mix of martial-arts action, sword-focused conflict, and Chinese fantasy atmosphere rather than a simple one-to-one genre match.
The developer has also discussed wuxia and kung-fu influences. In a 2025 hands-on preview, combat director Qianli Ma described the approach this way: “The whole concept is the wuxia, kung fu style-you want to dance”. That gives useful context for the game’s intended martial-arts feel, but it does not establish that any other game reproduces its combat.

| Game | Best fit | What to keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice | Demanding, sword-focused duels | A good choice if precise sword combat is your priority; the available sources do not establish that its mechanics match Phantom Blade Zero. |
| Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty | Fast martial-arts action | It is a reasonable pick for action with a martial-arts emphasis, not an official equivalent. |
| Black Myth: Wukong | Chinese fantasy action-RPG spectacle | It fits the setting and action-RPG side of the comparison, but should not be presented as sharing Phantom Blade Zero’s combat system. |
Choose Sekiro for sword-duel intensity
Pick Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice if the main thing you want is a demanding sword-focused fight. It is the clearest match on that particular axis; that does not mean its systems or overall design are the same as Phantom Blade Zero.

Choose Wo Long for martial-arts pace
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is the shortlist’s martial-arts action pick. It makes sense if you want to emphasize speed and martial-arts combat while you wait, without treating the recommendation as a claim of identical gameplay.
Choose Black Myth: Wukong for Chinese fantasy adventure
Black Myth: Wukong is the best fit here if the Chinese fantasy action-RPG atmosphere is what draws you to Phantom Blade Zero. The connection is one of broad appeal and setting, not a confirmed match in combat design.

Why these games are comparisons, not substitutes
Phantom Blade Zero is described as a blend of wuxia and action-RPG elements. Calling it simply a “Soulslike” would flatten that framing: Steam includes “Souls-like RPG” among its store tags, but a tag is metadata, not a complete account of the game’s design. The three recommendations are useful because each highlights one aspect a player may be seeking—duel precision, martial-arts action, or Chinese fantasy—not because any is established as a direct substitute.
