Start with Mika and the Witch’s Mountain. It is the closest released match for the specific blend of a young witch, broom flight, package delivery, friendly island communities, and gentle self-discovery. Its developer, Chibig, openly identifies Kiki’s Delivery Service as an inspiration, while making clear that Mika is an original game rather than an official Studio Ghibli adaptation.
If you want more cottage life-sim activities around the delivery loop, choose Flying Neko Delivery. If the part you love most is simply the sensation of drifting through a beautiful world, Journey, Sky: Children of the Light, and A Short Hike provide looser flight or gliding matches.
Quick comparison

| Flying Neko Delivery | Close: cat-witch, cottage, broom deliveries, relationships | Forgiving, upgradeable broom flight | Core loop, combined with gathering, cooking, and crafting | A slower life-sim routine with customization | Nintendo Switch release listed as October 20, 2022 |
| Journey | Mood and movement match, not a delivery story | Flight becomes more capable as the journey continues | Not established as delivery-focused | A short, emotional exploration experience | Platform details are not established in the cited material |
| Sky: Children of the Light | Mood and movement match, not a delivery story | Flight and aerial exploration | Not established as delivery-focused | Social, MMO-style discovery and puzzles | Platform details are not established in the cited material |
| A Short Hike | Gentle exploration match | Gliding, not powered flight | Not established as delivery-focused | A relaxed island outing with a light, lo-fi feel | Platform details are not established in the cited material |
| Crescent County | Premise match, release status uncertain | Motorbroom flight | Announced deliveries, racing, and relationships | A faster, more social broom adventure to watch | Windows Central described a PC and Xbox Series announcement in June 2025; verify current status |
Only Mika and Flying Neko Delivery are documented as matching both broom flight and a delivery-centered premise. The other recommendations trade that specific job for aerial movement, atmosphere, or exploration.

Why it feels like Kiki without being an adaptation
Chibig describes Mika and the Witch’s Mountain as a fantasy adventure about an aspiring witch who delivers packages to island townspeople by magic broom. Chibig’s own retrospective names Kiki’s Delivery Service as a main inspiration, but also emphasizes that the studio wanted a distinct identity. That distinction matters: you are getting an original world and cast, not licensed characters, locations, or a retelling of the film.

The shared fantasy is practical rather than heroic. Mika’s work is ordinary community service: pick up a parcel, fly it across a small island world, and get it to the right person. The setting is designed around seeing the same townspeople from the air and gradually understanding the places connected by your route. This makes it a stronger fit for readers seeking Kiki’s independent-coming-of-age feeling than for players looking for combat or a large, dangerous open world.
Delivery is an active system, not background flavor
The official game description makes package care part of the challenge. Parcels can be affected by water, damage, and time limits, so a route is not simply a sightseeing trip. You must control your broom, choose a sensible line through the island, and arrive with the item in acceptable condition. Villagers rate the service, turning each handoff into feedback on how you handled the run.
Successful work pays money. You can exchange those earnings for brooms with different flight abilities, giving the delivery economy a direct effect on movement. Better equipment is therefore not just cosmetic: it changes how you approach later routes and how comfortably you can navigate the environment.
Tone, scale, and expected length
Chibig characterizes the tone as cozy and lighthearted. The mini open world is intended for compact exploration between jobs rather than an enormous map filled with combat systems. That scale supports the fantasy of learning a community’s rhythms, meeting people repeatedly, and improving as a courier.
In Chibig’s January 15, 2025 full-launch announcement, the developer reported more than 60,000 copies sold after five months in Early Access. That is a developer-reported historical figure, not an independently audited current-sales total. The same announcement described more than eight hours of gameplay as an estimate for the fuller release; actual playtime will vary by player and play style.
In that announcement, Chibig CEO Abraham Cozar wrote: “We want to thank our community for all the feedback and support they’ve shared with us during the Early Access —Abraham Cozar, Chibig’s CEO, says— because that has helped us launch a better experience today, a better game.” The statement explains why early-access feedback is part of the game’s launch story, but it is not evidence of a comparative review score or a guarantee of a particular experience.

Platforms and physical-edition qualification
Chibig’s January 22, 2025 announcement listed PC through Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series. The same announcement said a physical Nintendo Switch edition had reached its backers and that the studio intended a worldwide physical release during 2025.

Flying Neko Delivery: the best life-sim alternative
A delivery job wrapped in cottage life
Nintendo’s listing follows Onigiri, a feline witch who lives in a cottage and delivers packages by broom. The premise is close to Kiki’s in the most important way: flight is a daily job that connects a small community. The difference is how much time the game spends away from the delivery route.
You can gather plants and fungi, cook recipes, craft useful items, decorate the cottage, and build relationships with villagers. Friendships unlock rewards and portals, so social progress has a practical role in exploration rather than serving only as dialogue.
Forgiving flight and progression
The game’s official site emphasizes forgiving broom controls. Nintendo’s description likewise presents flying as low stress, without crashing or combat. That makes it a better choice than Mika if you want the sensation of piloting a broom without worrying about punishing collisions or fighting.

When you mainly want the feeling of flight
Some players asking for a Kiki-like game primarily want to leave the ground, glide over a landscape, and explore at a gentle pace. The following games are useful precisely because they do not pretend to offer the same witch-and-delivery plot.
Journey: a short, emotional flight arc
PC Gamer’s September 13, 2026 feature describes Journey as a short emotional story in which your ability to fly increases as the adventure progresses. The appeal is the changing relationship between movement and discovery: early traversal feels limited, while later sections open more vertical freedom.
Quick wins for a faster PC:

Choose it for atmosphere, wordless storytelling, and a concentrated journey rather than for running a courier business or decorating a home.
Sky: Children of the Light: social aerial exploration
The same PC Gamer feature characterizes Sky: Children of the Light as a miniature MMO with flight controls and exploration. Its emphasis is social discovery and puzzles in a shared, fantastical setting.
This is the strongest loose match when the social side of Kiki’s world matters more than the occupation. You can expect a broader, more communal structure than a single-player delivery routine. The cited material does not establish a package-delivery system, so do not buy it expecting Mika’s job loop.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
A Short Hike: gliding across a small island
A Short Hike is the most important movement qualification in this list: it features gliding, not powered flight. PC Gamer describes it as a lo-fi island exploration game. You gain the pleasure of catching air and choosing your route, but you are not piloting a broom or sustaining powered flight between towns.
Pick it when you want a compact, gentle outing with exploration and a warm visual mood. Its differences from Kiki’s premise are substantial, but the low-pressure island structure can still satisfy the desire for a welcoming place to wander.
Crescent County: a watchlist option, not a confirmed recommendation
Windows Central’s June 2025 Wholesome Direct roundup described Crescent County as a witchy, solarpunk motorbroom adventure involving deliveries, exploration, racing, and relationships. The roundup announced it for PC and Xbox Series X.
That combination could appeal to readers who want Kiki’s delivery premise with more speed and social activity. However, the cited report is dated and does not establish the game’s release status as of this article. Treat it as a watchlist entry, not as a currently available purchase. Verify a current developer or storefront announcement before assuming a launch date, price, or playable build.

An itch.io listing titled Kiki’s Delivery Service (Fan Made Game) describes a cozy HTML5 browser game in which you fly as Kiki and deliver cakes. The creator says the mechanics were intentionally kept limited, so the experience is a small fan project rather than a full commercial-scale adventure.
Recommended Free Tools
Its exact-title premise makes it the most literal match, but its status must be stated clearly: it is fan-made and not an official Studio Ghibli production. Because the listing identifies it as released and playable in HTML5, it is suited to a quick browser session rather than a long progression game with extensive systems.

How to choose the right game
- You want the complete witch-and-courier fantasy. Choose Mika and the Witch’s Mountain. It is the only released recommendation here whose developer explicitly connects the game to Kiki’s Delivery Service while building broom deliveries as the central activity.
- You want deliveries plus home customization. Choose Flying Neko Delivery. Its cottage decoration, gathering, cooking, crafting, and relationship rewards give the workday more life-sim texture.
- You want forgiving controls and no combat pressure. Start with Flying Neko Delivery, whose descriptions emphasize low-stress flying without crashing or combat. Mika is gentler in tone but makes package condition, water, and time limits part of its courier challenge.
- You want a short emotional journey rather than a job loop. Choose Journey. Its documented strength is a concise story tied to expanding flight capability.
- You want social exploration. Choose Sky: Children of the Light. Its MMO-style structure and flight-focused exploration are a better fit than a solitary courier routine.
- You want the smallest, calmest exploration game. Choose A Short Hike, provided gliding is enough. It does not provide powered broom flight.
- You want to try the exact film premise in miniature. Look for the fan-made HTML5 game, understanding that its creator intentionally kept the mechanics limited.
- You want a faster motorbroom concept. Keep Crescent County on your watchlist, but verify its release status before treating it as available.
Important differences in the actual play loops
Powered flight versus gliding
Mika and Flying Neko Delivery use broom flight as transportation tied to a witch character’s daily work. Their movement systems support repeated trips between homes and towns. Journey and Sky also center aerial movement, but their cited descriptions frame it as exploration and progression rather than delivery. A Short Hike is the clear boundary case: gliding gives you air time, but not sustained powered travel.
Package pressure versus pure exploration
In Mika, water, damage, time limits, and villager ratings make route planning consequential. You are balancing speed and care, then earning money to access brooms with different abilities. Flying Neko Delivery presents a more forgiving routine and surrounds deliveries with resource gathering and domestic customization. The flight-first games remove the documented package-care loop, so their tension comes from discovery, puzzles, or the unfolding story instead.
Relationships and community
Both broom-delivery games place the protagonist in a small community. Mika emphasizes townspeople receiving parcels and judging service. Flying Neko Delivery makes friendships a progression system that can unlock rewards and portals. Sky offers the broadest social framing through its MMO-style world, while the cited descriptions do not establish relationship systems for Journey or A Short Hike.

Availability, dates, and what is not established
Release information varies in certainty. The October 20, 2022 date for Flying Neko Delivery comes from Nintendo’s listing. Mika’s platform list and 2025 physical-edition plan come from Chibig announcements dated January 22, 2025. The developer’s sales and playtime figures for Mika come from its January 15, 2025 full-launch announcement and should be read as historical, developer-reported information.
Current prices, stock, regional storefront availability, and marketplace listings were not established by the cited material. A physical-edition announcement is not proof that copies remain in stock. Before buying, open the storefront for your country, confirm the supported platform and edition, and check whether a listing is digital, physical, or an early-access reference.
Crescent County requires an additional check because the available announcement is from June 2025 and does not confirm its status now. The same caution applies to platform details for Journey, Sky: Children of the Light, and A Short Hike: the cited comparison identifies their movement and tone, not a complete current platform catalog.
Bottom line for Kiki fans
Mika and the Witch’s Mountain is the clear first stop when you want a young witch, a broom, package routes, and a kind island community in one released game. Flying Neko Delivery is the stronger alternative if you would trade some courier pressure for cottage decoration, gathering, crafting, and friendship progression. The other recommendations are valuable when your priority shifts from the delivery story to flight, gliding, social discovery, or a short emotional adventure.
