Short answer: Start with Cube-Field+ or Skycadia if you want the closest procedural, colorful arcade feel identified for Infinicity. Choose Haste, COMPOUND, or Heavy Bullets for faster first-person shooting, and Sky Rogue if you are happy to trade an on-foot viewpoint for vehicle-based arcade action. Rescue Guys – Firefighters Simulator is the loosest comparison, useful only if the simulation and emergency-response angle interests you.

There is an important limitation: Infinicity is not released yet. Its Steam listing gives a release date of “To be announced,” and no authoritative Steam Machine hardware specification or per-game certification establishes that any of these titles will run on a future Steam Machine. Treat the list as a genre-and-mechanics guide, then verify each game’s current SteamOS or Linux support, Proton behavior, graphics API requirements, and controller support before buying.

What makes Infinicity distinctive

The comparison only makes sense if “like Infinicity” is defined precisely. The official Steam listing describes a “moddable fast-paced low-poly procedurally generated 3D open world arcade shooter heavily inspired by classics of the early 90’s.” That single sentence combines several different design promises:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Procedural generation: the world is generated rather than presented as one entirely fixed sequence.
  • Open-world exploration: movement and discovery matter alongside combat.
  • Arcade shooting: quick reactions and frequent action are central, rather than slow tactical positioning alone.
  • Low-poly, colorful retro presentation: the visual target is stylized instead of photorealistic.
  • Modding: the game is intended to be changed or extended by its community.
  • Single-player focus: the Steam page lists singleplayer among its tags.

The setting is an android uprising in collapsing cities. Steam categorizes the title as Action, Adventure, Indie, RPG, and Simulation, while its tags include Exploration, FPS, Runner, Bullet Hell, Roguelite, Arcade, 3D, Open World, Procedural Generation, Action, Casual, Colorful, Moddable, Cartoon, 1980s, Retro, Combat, Singleplayer, Indie, and Simulation. Those tags explain why no existing game is a perfect substitute: the target sits between an exploratory shooter, a roguelite-style arcade game, and a mod-friendly sandbox.

Rescue Guys – Firefighters Simulator Simulation and scenario-based activity Players interested in the simulation side more than shooting Loosest comparison

This ordering follows the current similarity results surfaced by SteamPeek. It is a spectrum, not a claim that every title shares Infinicity’s open world, modding, or procedural systems.

The closest procedural and arcade options

Cube-Field+: begin here for the most unusual match

SteamPeek places Cube-Field+ among the highest-scoring similarity results. That makes it the first stop when the part of Infinicity that appeals to you is the combination of procedural or abstract presentation and arcade-minded play. The recommendation is about the shape of the experience, not a promise that it reproduces Infinicity’s android-uprising setting, city exploration, modding tools, or first-person structure.

Choose this option if you want something that feels designed around repeatable, system-driven sessions rather than a conventional linear campaign. Before purchasing for a Steam Machine, check the current store entry for a Linux or SteamOS build, the listed graphics API, and whether the control scheme supports a gamepad without community remapping. SteamPeek’s similarity placement does not constitute a compatibility certification.

Skycadia: the colorful arcade alternative

Skycadia is also among SteamPeek’s highest-scoring results. It is a sensible pick when the attraction is the bright, accessible arcade side of Infinicity: quick action, a stylized look, and a game loop that can be understood without committing to a long role-playing campaign.

Its value in this list is tonal and mechanical rather than literal. Skycadia’s Steam listing does not establish that it has Infinicity’s open-world city structure, procedural generation, or modding. Think of it as a way to get the colorful arcade energy while accepting that the underlying format may be different. Verify current SteamOS/Linux support and controller behavior on the store page before treating it as a living-room replacement.

Fast first-person and arcade shooters

Haste: pick it for speed

SteamPeek highlights Haste as a notable, well-rated option in the broader similarity list. The useful connection is pace: if your priority is rapid movement and immediate first-person action, Haste belongs in the trial set.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

It should not be described as an Infinicity clone. Haste’s Steam listing does not establish an open world, procedural cities, mod support, or the same retro-cartoon setting. Use it as a focused action substitute when “fast” matters more than “open world.” A Steam Machine buyer should confirm the current Linux or SteamOS status, Proton notes if the game is Windows-only, graphics API requirements, and whether aiming and movement feel comfortable on the intended controller.

COMPOUND: for a classic FPS presentation

COMPOUND appears in SteamPeek’s notable comparison group and is the clearest choice here for players who primarily want retro-styled first-person shooting. It can satisfy the desire for direct weapon handling and an old-school arcade-FPS mood without implying that it shares Infinicity’s generated open city.

Select it when the shooting perspective and retro identity are more important than exploration. Because visual style alone says little about Linux compatibility, inspect the current system requirements and user reports for the exact build you plan to run. If the title depends on Proton, remember that a compatibility layer can behave differently after game or SteamOS updates; test the actual installation and controller layout during a refund-eligible period where available.

Heavy Bullets: for demanding repeatable runs

Heavy Bullets is another notable SteamPeek result. It belongs in the shortlist for players who enjoy arcade pressure, repeatable attempts, and the discipline of learning through successive runs. That makes it relevant to the roguelite and arcade tags associated with Infinicity, even though Heavy Bullets’ Steam listing does not establish matching world size, modding, or narrative setting.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

This is a good test of what you really want from the target game. If you enjoy the challenge loop but do not need a free-roaming city, Heavy Bullets may be the more immediately available experiment. If exploration and modding are non-negotiable, do not treat its similarity ranking as proof that it covers those features.

Different viewpoints that still preserve arcade action

Sky Rogue: an aircraft-based variation

Sky Rogue keeps the arcade-action spirit while moving the viewpoint into a vehicle. SteamPeek calls it out in the broader list, and it is the best recommendation here for someone who wants exploration and combat systems to remain central but is open to piloting rather than running through a city.

The change in viewpoint is substantial. Sky Rogue is not evidence of an on-foot FPS, a low-poly urban sandbox, or a moddable open world. Its role is to offer a different route to the same broad satisfaction: navigating an active environment, making quick combat decisions, and replaying arcade scenarios. Check flight-control support before committing to a couch setup; a gamepad-friendly layout matters more for this comparison than keyboard-and-mouse conventions.

Rescue Guys – Firefighters Simulator: the simulation outlier

Rescue Guys – Firefighters Simulator is one of SteamPeek’s top comparison results, but it is the least direct substitute. Its relevance comes from the simulation side of Infinicity’s Steam tags and from scenario-driven activity, not from a shared shooter formula.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Choose it only if the idea of operating in an active emergency setting interests you more than procedural shooting. Rescue Guys’ Steam listing does not establish that it reproduces Infinicity’s retro presentation, open-world exploration, android uprising, or modding. It is useful as a reminder that similarity engines can surface games through broad genre signals; readers should weigh the specific mechanics they care about rather than assume a ranked result is a one-to-one alternative.

How to choose among the seven

Use the following decision path before opening store pages or installing demos:

  1. Define your non-negotiable. If you need a procedural or unusual arcade structure, start with Cube-Field+. If colorful immediate action is enough, start with Skycadia. If first-person speed is the priority, test Haste. For a classic retro FPS feel, test COMPOUND. For demanding repeatable runs, test Heavy Bullets. Choose Sky Rogue for vehicle-based exploration, or Rescue Guys for simulation.
  2. Separate “setting” from “mechanics.” Infinicity’s collapsing-city android uprising is a specific fiction. The comparison list is based on overlapping play patterns, not proof that another game has the same story, world, or characters.
  3. Decide whether modding is essential. Infinicity is explicitly described as moddable. The seven alternatives’ Steam listings do not confirm equivalent mod support, so verify each store page and community documentation individually.
  4. Decide whether open-world exploration is essential. If you need free-roaming 3D discovery, do not infer it from the words “arcade,” “procedural,” or “roguelite.” Those labels can describe very different layouts.
  5. Check the control perspective. Haste, COMPOUND, and Heavy Bullets are the first-person-focused options in this shortlist. Sky Rogue changes the interaction to piloting, while Rescue Guys serves a simulation niche. A comfortable controller layout may be more important than a high similarity score.

Steam Machine compatibility: what is known and what is not

“Steam Machine” is not a sufficient technical specification by itself. No authoritative hardware profile, release configuration, certification program, or per-game performance guarantee exists for a future Steam Machine. That means a game that runs on one Linux PC, Steam Deck-like environment, or current SteamOS installation cannot automatically be promised to run identically on every future device called a Steam Machine.

  • Compatible Design: Designed for Steam Machine and Steam Controller, this carrying case keeps the console, controller, cables, and accessories organized in one convenient place.
  • Protective EVA Hard Shell with Soft Lining: The firm EVA hard shell, soft plush lining, and enclosed construction provide structured protection for your Steam Machine and controller, helping guard against pressure, dust, scratches, and everyday bumps during storage or travel.
  • Stable Interior Fit: A built-in fixing strap secures the Steam Machine in place, while the dedicated Steam Controller slot keeps the controller organized and helps reduce movement during storage or travel.
  • Upper Mesh Storage Pocket: The upper mesh organizer pocket provides a dedicated space for charging cables, connection cables, and other small accessories, helping keep everything easy to find.
  • Thoughtful Details for Daily Use: A smooth zipper makes opening and closing easier, while the sturdy silicone handle provides a comfortable and reliable grip for carrying.

Infinicity’s own Steam listing does provide one concrete data point: it lists Windows and SteamOS + Linux requirements, and both the minimum and recommended graphics entries for SteamOS + Linux specify OpenGL 3.3. That confirms that a Linux-compatible build is documented on the store page. It does not confirm a frame-rate target, a particular Steam Machine configuration, a certification badge, or final performance for an unreleased game.

Pre-purchase checklist for a living-room Linux setup

Run these checks for every candidate, including Infinicity if and when it becomes available:

  1. Open the current Steam store page. Confirm that SteamOS + Linux is listed, or determine whether the title is Windows-only and therefore depends on Proton.
  2. Read the graphics API requirement. Record whether the game expects OpenGL, Vulkan, DirectX through Proton, or another API. Match that requirement to the actual device and driver stack rather than relying on the genre.
  3. Check the controller statement. Look for full, partial, or unlisted controller support. Pay attention to menus, remapping, gyro or trackpad needs, and whether keyboard input is required for setup.
  4. Inspect recent compatibility reports. Proton behavior can change with game patches, runtime versions, GPU drivers, and SteamOS updates. Prefer reports for the same hardware family and current software versions.
  5. Install and test the complete loop. Launch from the television interface, enter a game, adjust graphics, suspend or quit, reconnect the controller, and relaunch. A title that starts successfully but loses input or settings is not ready for your setup.
  6. Measure your own result. Check stability, frame pacing, loading behavior, and input latency at the resolution you actually intend to use. Do not convert someone else’s result into a guarantee for your hardware.
  7. Keep a recovery plan. Know how to switch Proton versions, disable a problematic overlay, reset a controller layout, or return to the native Linux build. Save configuration changes one at a time so you can identify the setting that caused a failure.

Common mistakes when shopping for “games like” Infinicity

Assuming a similarity ranking means identical mechanics

SteamPeek’s results are useful for discovery, but a ranking can combine visual style, tags, pace, perspective, and broad genre labels. That is why Cube-Field+ and Skycadia are the strongest starting points while Rescue Guys is a much looser fit. Read the reason for the match instead of treating the list as a franchise-style recommendation chain.

Confusing Linux support with Steam Machine certification

A SteamOS + Linux entry documents a supported operating-system target; it does not certify every future Steam Machine. Infinicity’s OpenGL 3.3 listing is similarly a requirement, not a promise of a particular frame rate or resolution.

Buying before checking release status

Infinicity is currently unreleased and has no announced release date on its Steam listing. Do not purchase a physical edition or plan around a fixed launch window. No official listing identifies a required physical accessory or hardware item; this is a digital game-discovery question, not a product-buying guide.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Overlooking the perspective change

Switching from on-foot first-person play to aircraft control in Sky Rogue changes movement, aiming, and the role of the environment. Likewise, a simulation such as Rescue Guys answers a different need from a fast shooter. Decide whether the camera and control model are part of your definition of “like.”

A practical test order

If you want to spend the least time narrowing the list, use this sequence:

  1. Try Cube-Field+ first for the closest procedural/arcade hypothesis.
  2. Try Skycadia next if color, immediacy, and arcade accessibility matter most.
  3. Move to Haste, COMPOUND, or Heavy Bullets according to whether speed, classic FPS style, or demanding repeatable runs is your priority.
  4. Choose Sky Rogue when a vehicle perspective is acceptable and exploration still matters.
  5. Reserve Rescue Guys – Firefighters Simulator for a deliberate simulation-first choice.

At every stage, apply the compatibility checklist to the exact Steam Machine hardware and software configuration you will use. This order maximizes the chance of finding a satisfying mechanical substitute without pretending that an unreleased game already has a confirmed equivalent.
