The same listing gives the Switch edition a release date of April 16, 2020, identifies ARC SYSTEM WORKS as publisher and developer, and lists television, tabletop and handheld play. One console accommodates one to four players; online play accommodates two to four. Compatible controllers are required for multiplayer, and additional controllers may be sold separately.

Because the appeal is the rule-breaking contest rather than a specific sport, the best alternatives are not necessarily games that simulate football, tennis or athletics. They are games that make each round feel like a contest between characters with unusual abilities, generous opportunities to interfere and a clear multiplayer focus.

Nintendo’s UK description explains that a player cannot simply eliminate an entire team by hitting opponents with the ball; instead, the opposing team’s HP must be reduced to zero. The publisher’s wording is unusually clear: “This isn’t your regular dodge ball, you can’t just eliminate the whole team by hitting them with the ball; you’ll need to reduce the opposing team’s HP to zero to win the game!” That HP condition makes the match feel more like an arcade fight with a sports skin than a straightforward schoolyard game.

Character-specific special moves reinforce that identity. Rather than treating every participant as an interchangeable athlete, the game gives the roster distinct ways to influence a round. For a group that enjoys learning a character’s strengths, timing special moves and turning a losing position around, this is a closer conceptual fit than a realistic sports package.
Multiplayer facts
The Switch listing supports one to four players on a single system and two to four online. Local groups should plan for one compatible controller per player; Nintendo notes that extra controllers may be sold separately. The listing names the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller as compatible. These numbers make Super Dodge Ball the simplest recommendation for a four-person household or a small online group. It also works for a solo player, since the local-player range begins at one, but its strongest reason to buy is the opportunity to share the unusual rules with other people.

This makes it a useful choice for players who want to explore the broader design family behind the target rather than purchase a single sports title.

Read the player counts carefully
Nintendo’s compilation listing describes single-system play for up to four and online play for two to four, while warning that player counts differ among the included games. Treat those figures as compilation-level information, not a universal specification. Before inviting a particular number of players to a particular title, check that game’s individual information on the current regional Nintendo listing.
This distinction matters especially for a group buying the collection specifically for four-player sessions. The compilation can satisfy that use case overall, but it does not establish that every game in the set supports four people locally or online.

The official site states that the leg strap accessory is required for some Soccer play and notes that additional accessories may be required for multiplayer. Check the current game instructions and regional product information before planning a session around a particular sport. A household that already has the required accessories will have an easier setup; a household that does not should account for the extra equipment before choosing this option.

If you want four people on one console
Both Crash ’n the Boys and Super Dodge Ball list one to four players on a single Switch. The compilation lists up to four overall, but individual games vary. Confirm the specific title before assuming a four-player session will work. In every case, plan on a compatible controller for each local participant.

If your group is split across homes
Super Dodge Ball and the compilation list online play for two to four. Online features for Super Dodge Ball require Nintendo Switch Online. Check the current Nintendo product page for the compilation and your region before scheduling a remote session because online-service terms and availability can change.
If players want a menu of sports
Choose Nintendo Switch Sports. Its purpose is breadth and accessibility across several sports activities, not a single deliberately unfair event series. Make sure the required motion accessories are available for the activities you intend to play.
If the Technos connection is important

- Confirm the edition and region. Open the current Nintendo listing for the exact Switch game in your region. Availability, compatibility information and online-service terms can change.
- Count participants. For Crash ’n the Boys and Super Dodge Ball, the listed local range is one to four. For the compilation, verify the individual game because the collection’s player counts vary by title.
- Prepare controllers. Nintendo says compatible controllers are needed for multiplayer and that additional controllers may be sold separately. The Super Dodge Ball listing specifically names the Pro Controller as compatible.
- Choose the display mode. The target supports TV, tabletop and handheld modes. A tabletop or TV setup is generally the practical choice for a group, while handheld mode is useful when one person is playing.
- Check accessories for motion games. If you select Nintendo Switch Sports, verify whether your chosen activity requires the leg strap or another accessory.
This preparation prevents the most common avoidable problem: owning the game but not having enough compatible controllers or the accessory required for the planned activity.

Planning online play
Super Dodge Ball
The Nintendo listing gives an online range of two to four players and states that Nintendo Switch Online is required for online features. Arrange the membership and compatible controllers before the session; local players still need their own controllers when sharing a console.
Super Technos World

Do not equate compilation totals with every game
A collection-level “up to four” label describes the product as a whole. It does not prove that every included title has the same local or online capacity. This is the most important caveat for Super Technos World.
Controller costs are separate from the game
Nintendo’s listings identify compatible controllers as a multiplayer requirement and note that additional controllers may be sold separately. The product pages do not establish a current controller price, a particular retailer’s stock or a required controller model beyond compatibility information. Budget for the hardware you actually need instead of assuming the console’s included controllers will cover every player.
Online terms can change

Motion play changes the experience

For a direct replacement, buy Super Dodge Ball: it has the clearest Kunio-kun/Technos connection, the same four-player local ceiling as the target, two-to-four online play and an explicitly unconventional HP-and-special-move ruleset. Select Super Technos World when the priority is a 12-game Technos archive and you are willing to check player limits title by title. Select Nintendo Switch Sports only when a broad, motion-oriented sports selection is more important than the target’s chaotic arcade identity.
