Best overall: the Backbone One (2nd Generation) USB-C is the simplest compact choice for playing a Far Cry title streamed to an Android phone. It plugs directly into compatible USB-C phones, supports passthrough charging and has a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Choose the Razer Kishi V2 for a similar compact grip, the Backbone Pro Xbox Edition for multi-screen wireless use, or an Xbox Wireless Controller if you prefer a full-size pad.
There is an important qualification: Far Cry is generally not running as a native Android game. You normally play through Xbox Cloud Gaming, console remote play or PC streaming. The exact Far Cry game available, and the features offered, can change by country, subscription, platform and date, so confirm the title in the service catalog before buying a controller.
How Far Cry reaches an Android phone
On Android, the controller is only one part of the setup. The game usually runs elsewhere and your phone receives a video stream while sending your inputs back over the internet or a local network.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsXbox Cloud Gaming
Xbox Cloud Gaming runs a supported game on Microsoft’s servers. Xbox says cloud gaming works on Android phones and tablets running Android 12 or later and recommends a 5 GHz Wi-Fi or mobile-data connection of at least 20 Mbps. Xbox also states, “Most titles in the XBOX Game Pass library are available to stream from the cloud.” That wording is deliberately not a guarantee for every Far Cry release: cloud-playable titles and features vary over time, by region and by Game Pass plan. Search for the exact game in the current catalog while signed in to the account and plan you intend to use.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Console remote play
Remote play streams a game installed on your own Xbox or PlayStation console to the Android device. The console must be powered on or configured for remote wake, signed in to the correct account and connected to a reliable network. Because the game is your local purchase or subscription entitlement, this route can provide access when the title is not in the current cloud catalog, but it depends on owning the console and game.
PC streaming
A gaming PC can stream Far Cry through a PC-remote-play application or a service such as Steam Link. The PC renders the game; the Android phone acts as the screen and controller endpoint. This gives you access to a PC installation and its graphics settings, but performance depends on the PC, the host network and the streaming application.
Ubisoft’s Far Cry New Dawn support information lists Xbox One, DualShock 4, XInput and named DirectInput gamepads for the PC version. That establishes the controller conventions used by Far Cry on PC; it does not establish a native Android Far Cry app. A controller that behaves as a standard XInput, Bluetooth or USB gamepad is therefore the safest choice for a streaming setup.
Best controllers at a glance
| Controller | Connection and form | Useful features | Best for | Important caveat |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Backbone One (2nd Generation) USB-C | Direct USB-C telescopic grip | Passthrough charging; 3.5 mm headphone jack; plug-and-play design | Most phone-first cloud and remote-play setups | Check USB-C port position, phone dimensions and case clearance |
| Razer Kishi V2 | Direct USB-C telescopic grip | Passthrough charging; tactile buttons; compact body | Portable play when you value a small grip | No headphone jack; may feel cramped for large hands; verify exact phone model |
| Backbone Pro Xbox Edition | Bluetooth or USB-C; works across screens | Full-size ALPS joysticks; rear buttons; up to 40 hours of battery; Android 10.0 or later | One controller for phone, tablet, PC and smart TV | Larger and less pocketable than a telescopic phone grip |
| Xbox Wireless Controller | Bluetooth or wired; full-size console layout | Familiar sticks and triggers; broad compatibility with cloud gaming | Existing Xbox owners and TV or tablet use | A separate phone clip may be needed for handheld play |
1. Backbone One (2nd Generation) USB-C: best compact plug-in choice
The Backbone One is the most straightforward recommendation when your main screen is an Android phone. The two halves clamp around the handset and connect through USB-C, so there is no Bluetooth pairing step and no controller battery to charge during a session. Tom’s Guide lists Android and iOS support, USB-C or Lightning connectivity depending on the version, passthrough charging and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Backbone’s support documentation covers Xbox Cloud Gaming, Xbox and PlayStation remote play, Steam remote play, GeForce Now and Amazon Luna workflows.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
A direct connection is especially convenient when you are switching among cloud gaming and remote-play apps: plug in the phone, open the service, select the Far Cry title and use the controller’s standard buttons. The headphone jack is useful if your phone has no 3.5 mm port and you want wired audio without adding a USB-C splitter.
Fit checks before buying
- Confirm that your phone has a USB-C data port, not a charge-only or damaged connector.
- Measure the phone with its case installed. Thick cases, camera bumps and side-mounted USB-C ports can prevent the grips from seating.
- Check whether your model is supported by the current Backbone compatibility list; physical fit can differ between phones that share the same Android version.
Choose this model when portability, a wired connection and a headphone jack matter more than using one pad with a television or PC.
2. Razer Kishi V2: compact alternative
The Kishi V2 follows the same telescopic-phone concept but uses a different grip and button layout. Tom’s Guide describes it as compact, with improved phone compatibility and tactile buttons, plus passthrough charging. Its disadvantages are equally practical: there is no headphone jack, and the narrow body can feel small for people with large hands.
Because the Kishi V2 is sold in different connector versions, buy the exact Android USB-C model rather than relying on a product photo or a listing that combines Android and iPhone variants. Remove a bulky case for the fit test, or verify that the case is explicitly supported. Once connected, it appears to the streaming app as a standard controller, so it is suitable for Xbox Cloud Gaming, console remote play and PC-streaming apps that accept gamepads.

- Secure Hold: Our PopSockets adhesive phone grip gives your cell phone a secure, comfortable hold in hand to help prevent drops while texting, taking photos, or scrolling on the go. Designed to stick firmly to most phone cases and devices.
- Hands-Free Made Easy: Easily turn your PopSocket into a phone stand to prop up your phone anywhere, perfect for watching videos, video calls, or following recipes. A must-have phone holder that keeps your device secure and ready for anything.
- Compatibility: Works with all phones, tablets, and Kindles. Sticks best to smooth, hard plastic cases and may not adhere to silicone or textured cases. Easily swap your PopTop to change up your style.
- Black PopSockets: Simple, refined, and endlessly versatile. A timeless essential for any phone.
- Travel Must-Have for People On the Go: A must-have travel accessory for flights, flying, airports, air travel, airplanes, planes, international trips, cruises, and long travel days. Key gadget for your airport haul, travel accessories and must-haves.
This is the better compact alternative when you prefer its button feel or find it at a substantially lower price than the Backbone One. It is not the right choice if a built-in headphone jack is part of your setup.
3. Backbone Pro Xbox Edition: best for several screens
The Backbone Pro Xbox Edition is designed for people who do not want a phone-only controller. Backbone lists full-sized ALPS joysticks, rear buttons, Bluetooth Low Energy, USB-C connectivity, cloud and console streaming support, Android 10.0-or-later compatibility and up to 40 hours of battery life. The battery figure is the manufacturer’s “up to” rating, not a guaranteed runtime for every game, brightness level or wireless mode.
Its larger controls are useful for a long Far Cry session, where frequent camera movement and trigger use can expose the limitations of very small telescopic grips. Rear buttons can also be assigned in supported software for actions you use repeatedly, although the exact remapping options depend on the operating system and app.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →The trade-off is size. A wireless, full-size controller travels less neatly than a grip that folds around the phone, and you may still need a stand or clip to hold the phone at a comfortable viewing angle. Pick the Pro when the same controller must move between an Android phone, tablet, PC and smart TV, or when you specifically want wireless play and a larger hand fit.

4. Xbox Wireless Controller: best full-size standard
An Xbox Wireless Controller is the sensible choice if one is already in your home. Xbox says compatible controllers can connect to Android by Bluetooth or a wired connection and identifies official Xbox and PlayStation controllers among supported cloud-gaming options. The familiar offset sticks, triggers and full-size handles suit long sessions better than many phone grips.
For a phone, Bluetooth gives you freedom from a cable, while a USB cable can avoid pairing and keep the controller powered. A phone clip turns the pad into a handheld system, but the extra weight above the controller can make the combination less comfortable than a telescopic grip. If you mainly play on a television or tablet and occasionally use the phone, the full-size Xbox layout is usually the more flexible investment.
How to choose between the four
Start with the access route
- Cloud only: Choose the Backbone One or Kishi V2 for the smallest phone setup, or the Xbox controller if you also play on a TV.
- Console remote play: Use whichever layout matches your console habits. A Backbone grip is convenient in bed or while travelling; a full-size pad is better when the phone sits on a stand.
- PC streaming: Prioritize standard XInput behavior, comfortable sticks and reliable triggers. The Xbox controller and Backbone Pro are the safest full-size choices; the two compact grips are easier to carry.
Then check physical and software compatibility
- Android version: Xbox Cloud Gaming requires Android 12 or later. The Backbone Pro is listed for Android 10.0 or later, but the streaming app can impose a newer requirement.
- Connector: USB-C phone grips need a USB-C data connection and adequate clearance around the port. Bluetooth pads need Android Bluetooth enabled and a charged controller.
- Case: A case that fits the phone by itself may be too thick for a telescopic grip. Test with the case removed before assuming the controller is defective.
- Controls: Far Cry uses two-stick movement, analog triggers, bumpers and several face buttons. Avoid ultra-small pads if your hands cramp or you rely heavily on trigger control.
- Audio: The Backbone One has a 3.5 mm jack; the Kishi V2 does not. Wireless headphones add another radio link and can complicate troubleshooting.
Set up Far Cry through Xbox Cloud Gaming
- Update the Android phone to Android 12 or later and install the current Xbox app or use the supported Xbox cloud-gaming web experience for your region.
- Sign in with the Microsoft account that has the required Game Pass access. Availability and plan requirements differ by title and country.
- Connect the controller. Plug in the Backbone One or Kishi V2, or pair the Backbone Pro or Xbox controller in Android’s Bluetooth settings. If a pad is connected but ignored, close and reopen the Xbox app after pairing.
- Use a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network when possible. Xbox recommends at least 20 Mbps; keep the phone near the access point and avoid a congested guest network.
- Search the current cloud catalog for the exact Far Cry game, open its game page and start streaming. Do not assume that one Far Cry release’s availability means every release is included.
- Adjust the in-game sensitivity and button layout only after the stream is stable. Changing controls cannot fix a network frame-drop problem.
Set up console remote play
- Install the official remote-play app for your console and sign in with the same account used on the console.
- On the console, enable remote features and complete the platform’s power and network checks. A wired console connection is preferable when available.
- Pair the Bluetooth controller before launching remote play, or connect a phone grip directly by USB-C.
- Start the remote-play session, select the console and launch the installed Far Cry game.
- If the app reports that the controller is unsupported, test an Xbox or PlayStation-standard pad first. Ubisoft’s New Dawn PC support list shows why XInput and DualShock-style layouts are commonly recognized, but it is not an Android compatibility guarantee.
Set up PC streaming
- Install the chosen PC-streaming client on the Android phone and its host component on the gaming PC. Steam Link is one example for a Steam installation.
- Connect the PC and phone to the same 5 GHz network for local play, or configure the service’s remote-access feature for play away from home.
- Launch the client, pair the controller and verify that the PC sees it as an XInput or DirectInput device before starting Far Cry.
- Start the game on the PC, then tune stream resolution and frame rate to the network rather than selecting the highest setting automatically.
- Keep the PC awake and prevent the operating system from suspending the game or shutting down the network adapter during a session.
Reduce lag and connection problems
No source publishes a Far Cry-specific Android latency or battery benchmark, so there is no universal millisecond figure to use when choosing a pad. Responsiveness is affected by the service, distance to its servers, Wi-Fi interference, phone performance, game settings and controller connection.
- Use 5 GHz Wi-Fi close to the router; 2.4 GHz reaches farther but is more vulnerable to congestion.
- Pause large downloads, video streams and cloud backups on the same network.
- Keep the phone charged. A low-power mode can reduce performance or interrupt USB accessories on some Android devices.
- For a wired grip, inspect the USB-C plug for lint and avoid flexing the connector while playing.
- For Bluetooth, remove old controller entries, pair again and keep the controller within normal range of the phone.
- Lower stream resolution or frame rate when the picture freezes. A stable lower-quality stream is more playable than a high-quality stream that repeatedly stalls.
Troubleshooting by symptom
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| Phone does not recognize a telescopic controller | Case interference, poor USB-C contact or incompatible phone geometry | Remove the case, reconnect firmly, clean the port carefully and confirm the exact model’s compatibility list. |
| Controller pairs but buttons do nothing in the stream | The app was opened before pairing or the controller is in the wrong mode | Close the streaming app, pair or plug in the controller first, then reopen the app. Check for an XInput or Android mode switch. |
| Game appears in the catalog but will not start | Regional, plan or title-specific availability changed | Read the game’s current cloud page, verify the account and plan, and try console or PC remote play if you own the game elsewhere. |
| Video is blurry or controls feel delayed | Insufficient bandwidth, Wi-Fi interference or a distant streaming server | Move to 5 GHz Wi-Fi, stop competing traffic, meet the 20 Mbps recommendation and lower stream quality. |
| Audio is missing with a compact grip | The phone or controller lacks the expected audio path | Use the Backbone One’s 3.5 mm jack, connect USB-C audio where supported, or pair Bluetooth headphones and retest. |
| Hands become tired quickly | Small telescopic body or an unbalanced phone-and-clip combination | Switch to the Backbone Pro or Xbox Wireless Controller, use a stand and take regular breaks. |
Which one should you buy?
Choose the Backbone One if
You want the least complicated phone setup, prefer a direct USB-C connection, need a headphone jack and expect to play mostly through cloud or remote-play apps.

What the evidence does not establish
There is no universal promise that every Far Cry game is available through Xbox Cloud Gaming, and no published source here provides a Far Cry-specific Android latency test, controller battery comparison or guaranteed performance result. Availability can change with licensing, region and subscription terms. Treat the controller recommendations as compatibility and ergonomics guidance for streaming, not as proof that a particular Far Cry title will run natively on Android.
