Build Fuuka as a scaling Navigator support, not as an on-field damage dealer. Prioritize Attack so Radiant Power reaches its strongest party Attack and damage buffs, then stack critical damage so Spirit Wave can amplify your carry’s critical hits. Add enough survivability and consistency for the encounter, pair her with one clear damage dealer and reliable sustain, and use Wonder to fill the team’s missing buff, debuff, healing, or elemental utility.
What Fuuka does in P5X
Fuuka Yamagishi is a five-star Unknown-element character with the Elucidator job and Lucia as her Persona. Her value comes from party-wide support, energy management, and Backup Character activation rather than normal on-field attacks.
At Awareness 0, Fuuka can select one non-Wonder ally as a Backup Character. She spends Wish Listener to cast Oracle Shift, which makes that selected ally active. The backup copies applicable status effects from the current character, activates its start-of-battle effects the first time it enters, and receives its cooldown handling after activation. This means Fuuka’s best partner is not simply the strongest character on your account; it is the ally whose entry effects and role solve the team’s main problem.

Fuuka’s support scales from her own statistics. Her passive Stat Buff gives the party stats equal to 20% of Fuuka’s stats. Benevolence adds 24% party critical damage for two turns after an ally uses Theurgy or HIGHLIGHT. Compassion adds party stats equal to 4.5% of the selected Backup Character’s stats. These passives reward a well-built Fuuka even when she is not taking ordinary turns as a damage dealer.

Fuuka’s ability priorities and published scaling
Fuuka has two main four-Ally-Action support skills. Use the one that matches your carry’s damage profile and the timing of the encounter.

Attack is the first offensive stat
Attack improves Radiant Power directly and also contributes to Fuuka’s Stat Buff. If you are deciding between an Attack increase and a small amount of critical damage while your Fuuka is still developing, Attack is usually the more reliable first investment because it strengthens both her main offensive buff and the passive party-stat transfer.
Critical damage is the second offensive stat
Critical damage improves Spirit Wave and works especially well in a team whose carry already has dependable critical-hit access. It also complements Benevolence after Theurgy or HIGHLIGHT. Critical damage becomes a higher priority when your main damage dealer is built around frequent critical bursts and your team already has sufficient Attack.
Survivability and consistency are practical secondary goals
Fuuka’s support is worthless if she is repeatedly incapacitated before the burst window. After meeting the offensive thresholds your team needs, use defensive or consistency-focused options that help her survive the specific encounter. Longer fights, unavoidable area damage, and stages with mental ailments make this trade more valuable than squeezing out a small amount of additional personal scaling.
Recommended Fuuka build order
- Raise Fuuka’s skill levels. Radiant Power and Spirit Wave both consume four Ally Actions, so every improvement to their buff values matters during a limited-turn fight.
- Stack Attack first when the team needs general damage. This strengthens Radiant Power and Fuuka’s 20% Stat Buff contribution.
- Add critical damage for a crit-focused carry. Spirit Wave’s scaling is the reason to make this a deliberate second axis rather than treating it as a universal replacement for Attack.
- Preserve enough durability to complete the rotation. A support who survives through the carry’s burst window is more useful than one with a higher theoretical stat total that is defeated early.
- Match the build to the encounter. Keep a more defensive setup available for attrition stages and a more offensive setup for short, scripted burst checks.
How to choose Fuuka’s Backup Character
Oracle Shift spends Wish Listener to activate the selected non-Wonder backup. Because the backup copies applicable status effects, triggers start-of-battle effects on its first entry, and then follows cooldown handling after activation, the choice should be made before combat around the team’s intended sequence.

Choose a damage-dealer backup when the carry needs a second entry window
A carry with a powerful start-of-battle effect or a burst state can gain more from Oracle Shift than a character whose value is spread evenly across every turn. This approach is strongest when Fuuka’s Radiant Power or Spirit Wave buff will still be active when the backup becomes active.
Choose a sustain or defensive backup for attrition stages
If the encounter’s failure condition is survival rather than damage, use the backup slot to bring an entry effect that stabilizes the party. Compassion then transfers 4.5% of that backup character’s stats to the party, so a well-invested defensive backup can improve the entire formation even before it acts.
Do not treat Wonder as the Backup Character
Fuuka’s Awareness 0 rule specifies a non-Wonder ally. Wonder remains a separate flexible support slot, where Personas can supply healing, burn, buffs, or debuffs to patch the roster’s missing tool.
The team structure Fuuka wants
A dependable Fuuka team has four jobs: one primary damage dealer, enough sustain or defensive control for the stage, one additional buffer or debuffer, and Wonder configured to cover the remaining gap. Fuuka occupies the Navigator support role and should be judged by how effectively those other slots can execute their rotations.
- Carry: Select an AoE damage dealer for groups or a single-target Assassin for bosses. Do not ask one build to perform both jobs if you can maintain separate teams.
- Sustain: Bring healing, damage reduction, cleansing, or another defensive answer when the encounter demands it.
- Secondary support: Add a buffer, defense breaker, elemental amplifier, or ailment enabler that increases the carry’s actual damage window.
- Wonder: Equip the missing utility instead of duplicating a role the other four characters already cover.
Role is a more durable way to plan a roster than element alone. The community Player’s Guide specifically emphasizes that role becomes more important for long-term building than a character’s elemental affinity. Build one competent AoE team and one competent single-target team before trying to make every character fit every stage.

General-purpose Fuuka composition
Fuuka (Navigator) + primary DPS + sustain or defensive unit + buffer/debuffer + Wonder is the safest default. Fuuka uses Attack and critical-damage buffs during the carry’s burst window, while the other support slots keep the carry alive and increase the damage that reaches the target.

AoE fire team options
Beginner-friendly structure
Use Ann, also called Panther, as the AoE carry; Lufel for healing, burn, and Attack support; Fuuka as Navigator; and Wonder with Personas that add Attack plus a burn or debuff package. The remaining flex slot can be Leon for more offense or Shun or Soy when durability is the problem.
This arrangement works because the carry handles groups, Lufel combines sustain with offensive enabling, and Wonder can change its Persona loadout when a stage demands a different debuff or elemental answer. Fuuka’s Radiant Power is the natural button when Ann’s damage cycle is about to begin; Spirit Wave is preferable when the carry’s critical hits are the main source of damage.
Fire and burn-amplification structure
A more specialized community example uses Panther, Cattle, Key, Phoebe, and Wonder. In that version, the fire or burn package is distributed across the roster so the carry receives more value from elemental and ailment amplification. Fuuka can occupy the Navigator support position while Wonder carries the missing buff or defense-debuff Personas.
Use this structure when the stage rewards sustained fire or burn pressure rather than simply requiring generic AoE damage. If the encounter removes or resists the relevant ailment, replace the specialized amplifier with a general buffer or debuffer rather than forcing the composition to keep its original element.

Single-target boss composition
For bosses, start with a single-target Assassin such as Fleuret, add Mona or another sustain unit, and pair the carry with Leon or another damage buffer. Fuuka remains the Navigator, while Wonder carries a buff and defense-debuff package.
The boss version has a different timing requirement from the fire-AoE team. Do not spend Fuuka’s two-turn buffs before the Assassin and defense breaker are ready to execute. In a six-turn endgame stage, a delayed but synchronized burst is usually more valuable than using a support skill as soon as it becomes available.
When to consider Okyann
Okyann or an equivalent Navigator can be considered when the team is built around Windswept or another specific ailment. That is a specialization choice, not a universal replacement for Fuuka. Keep Fuuka when the team benefits more from party-wide Attack, damage, critical-damage scaling, and Backup Character activation than from a particular ailment-centered plan.
S.E.E.S. and HIGHLIGHT-focused teams
Fuuka’s Holy Prayer creates a meaningful carry-selection decision. When its main target is an S.E.E.S. member, it restores 35 Theurgy Energy and increases Theurgy damage. When the target is not an S.E.E.S. member, it instead restores 35 HIGHLIGHT Energy and increases HIGHLIGHT damage.

Build around the energy type your carry actually uses. An S.E.E.S. carry lets Holy Prayer reinforce Theurgy, while a non-S.E.E.S. HIGHLIGHT carry can receive the alternative energy and damage benefit. Because this support has a long cooldown, the team should be planned around the activation window rather than treating Holy Prayer as a generic emergency button.

Rotation guide for Fuuka teams
Before the first damage window
- Identify the encounter’s first meaningful burst turn and the support cooldowns that must be ready for it.
- Set Wonder’s Personas to cover the missing healing, burn, buff, or defense-debuff requirement before combat begins.
- Confirm that the selected Backup Character has the entry effect you want and that its role matches the stage’s failure condition.
During the setup turns
- Apply essential defense breaks, elemental enablers, or sustain effects without consuming Fuuka’s major buff too early.
- Build the resources needed for the carry’s Theurgy or HIGHLIGHT cycle when the stage’s damage check depends on it.
- Use Oracle Shift when the Backup Character’s entry effect will be copied and activated at a useful point in the sequence.
At the burst window
- Cast Radiant Power when the carry can use the two-turn Attack and damage buff immediately.
- Choose Spirit Wave instead when critical damage is the carry’s dominant scaling or when its conditional cleanse, HP restoration, or 30 SP recovery prevents a rotation failure.
- Trigger Theurgy or HIGHLIGHT so Benevolence supplies its 24% party critical-damage effect for the following two turns.
- Spend the carry’s strongest actions while Fuuka’s buffs, the defense break, and the Backup Character’s active effects overlap.
After the burst
Track Fuuka’s four-Ally-Action costs and the carry’s recovery cycle together. If the stage uses a six-turn limit, reserve enough actions for the next required support window instead of spending every resource on a low-value intermediate turn. Support rotations should fit the damage dealer’s rotation; a buff that returns after the boss’s damage check has already passed is functionally late.
Attack versus critical-damage: which should Fuuka use?

Common mistakes and fixes
Building Fuuka like a conventional DPS
Fuuka’s primary contribution is party support and Backup Character activation. A build that maximizes personal on-field damage while neglecting Attack, critical damage, or survival reduces the value of Radiant Power, Spirit Wave, and her passive transfers.
Running support without a clear carry
Fuuka amplifies a team; she does not replace its damage engine. Name the character responsible for ending waves or damaging the boss before filling the remaining slots.
Using one team for every encounter
AoE and single-target stages ask for different carries and different support timing. Maintain separate formations when your roster allows it instead of weakening both by choosing a compromise damage dealer.
Duplicating utility in Wonder’s slot
Wonder is most valuable when it patches the gap left by the fixed roster. If Lufel already supplies healing and burn, use Wonder for Attack or defense reduction; if the team lacks recovery, equip healing instead of another redundant damage buff.
Activating buffs outside the damage window
Radiant Power and Spirit Wave last two turns and cost four Ally Actions. Pressing them before the carry, defense breaker, or energy skill is ready can waste most of their value. Align the cast with the turn in which the carry can actually spend the buff.
Ignoring the Backup Character’s entry effect
Oracle Shift is not only a stat transfer. The first activation also triggers applicable start-of-battle effects and then applies cooldown handling. Select a backup whose entry effect changes the planned sequence, not merely one with a high displayed stat.

Fuuka team checklist
- Have you chosen an AoE or single-target carry for the actual stage?
- Can the sustain slot keep the team alive through the required burst?
- Does Wonder provide a missing heal, burn, buff, or defense debuff rather than duplicate an existing role?
- Is Fuuka’s Attack high enough for Radiant Power and her 20% Stat Buff to matter?
- Does critical damage improve the carry’s real Spirit Wave window?
- Is the Backup Character a non-Wonder ally with a useful entry effect?
- Will Oracle Shift, Radiant Power or Spirit Wave, Benevolence, and the carry’s Theurgy or HIGHLIGHT overlap?
- For a six-turn stage, do the support cooldowns return in time for the damage check?
Recommended default
When you need one answer, use Fuuka with a dedicated carry, one dependable sustain unit, one buffer or debuffer, and Wonder configured for the remaining gap. Start with Attack, add critical damage when the carry’s crit cycle justifies it, and reserve Fuuka’s two-turn buffs for a synchronized burst. Build a separate AoE fire-oriented team and single-target boss team when possible, then change the Backup Character and Wonder’s Personas according to the encounter rather than forcing one fixed lineup everywhere.
