The best FPS gaming mouse is the one whose shape and weight suit your hand and grip—not necessarily the one with the highest DPI or polling rate. For a current shortlist, Tom’s Guide names the SteelSeries Rival Pro its FPS pick for 2026, while RTINGS’ comparisons show why smaller hands, grip style, weight, and control preferences can point to different mice.
Which FPS gaming mouse should you shortlist?
These picks cover different fits and tradeoffs rather than one universal winner. Specifications and review measurements below are attributed to the cited publisher; they are not independent test results.
| Mouse | What the source reports | Consider it if… |
|---|---|---|
| SteelSeries Rival Pro | Tom’s Guide’s FPS pick in its 2026 guide; 42,000 DPI, 8,000 Hz polling, and 1.87 oz. The review reports around 16 hours of battery life using full 8K polling. | You want the guide’s featured high-polling wireless pick and are willing to weigh its battery tradeoff and price against your needs. |
| Logitech G PRO X SUPERLIGHT | RTINGS lists a 61.1 g default weight in its 2026 comparison with the Vaxee XE Wireless; customization is handled through software. | You prefer a lighter symmetrical mouse and software controls. |
| Vaxee XE Wireless | RTINGS lists a 76.3 g default weight in the same comparison and physical adjustment buttons. | You prefer a heavier feel or want adjustment buttons on the mouse. |
| Razer Viper V3 Pro | RTINGS’ 2026 comparison lists up to 8,000 Hz polling and describes it as larger than the Vaxee XE-S Wireless. | You want to consider a larger shape and high polling support. |
| Vaxee XE-S Wireless (4K) | RTINGS says it is smaller than the Viper V3 Pro and better suited to smaller hands and claw or fingertip grips. | You have smaller hands or use a claw or fingertip grip. |
| Corsair Sabre V2 Pro | PC Gamer’s 2026 guide lists 36 g and 8,000 Hz, with battery rated at 70 hours at 1 kHz and 16 hours at 8 kHz. | Very low listed weight appeals to you, and you can choose a polling mode around the stated battery tradeoff. |
| SteelSeries Aerox 3 Wireless Gen 2 | Tom’s Guide lists 26,000 DPI, 4,000 Hz, six buttons, and 2.3 oz; it notes that the honeycomb shell may divide opinion. | You want to compare a mid-range option and are comfortable with an open honeycomb design. |

How should you match a mouse to your hand and grip?
Start with the shape, not the spec sheet
Hand size and grip affect whether a mouse feels controlled or awkward. RTINGS’ comparison says the smaller Vaxee XE-S Wireless (4K) is better suited to smaller hands and claw or fingertip grips than the larger Razer Viper V3 Pro. That is useful guidance, not a rule that every player with those hands or grips will prefer it.
#1 Best Overall
- HERO Gaming Sensor: Next generation HERO mouse sensor delivers precision tracking up to 25600 DPI with zero smoothing, filtering or acceleration
- 11 programmable buttons and dual mode hyper-fast scroll wheel: The Logitech wired gaming mouse gives you fully customizable control over your gameplay
- Adjustable weights: Match your playing style. Arrange up to five 3.6 g weights for a personalized weight and balance configuration
- LIGHTSYNC technology: Logitech G LIGHTSYNC technology provides fully customizable RGB lighting that can also synchronize with your gaming (requires Logitech Gaming Software)
- Mechanical Switch Button Tensioning: A metal spring tensioning system and metal pivot hinges are built into left and right computer gaming mouse buttons for a crisp, clean click feel with rapid click feedback
Also decide whether you want a symmetrical shape or an ergonomic one. The shortlist’s RTINGS comparisons cover symmetrical wireless models; they do not establish that symmetrical shapes suit every hand. If possible, try a mouse in person or check a retailer’s return policy before committing to a shape you have not used.
Use weight as a feel preference
Weight can change how a mouse feels during quick movements, but the figures here are not a ranking of aim performance. In RTINGS’ 2026 Logitech/Vaxee comparison, the G PRO X SUPERLIGHT is listed at 61.1 g and the XE Wireless at 76.3 g by default. Those are different products with different control approaches, so choose based on the feel and handling you want rather than assuming lighter is automatically better.

Do you need an 8,000 Hz polling rate?
Not necessarily. Polling rate is one comparison point, not a guarantee of better aim. The sources list 8,000 Hz capability for the Rival Pro, Viper V3 Pro, and Corsair Sabre V2 Pro, while the Aerox 3 Wireless Gen 2 is listed at 4,000 Hz. Those maximums do not by themselves establish how much difference you will notice in play.
Battery life can change with the selected mode. Tom’s Guide reports around 16 hours for the Rival Pro when using full 8K polling. PC Gamer lists the Sabre V2 Pro at 70 hours at 1 kHz and 16 hours at 8 kHz. These are publisher-reported product figures under the stated polling conditions; do not assume they describe other modes or usage patterns.
Rank #3
- ICONIC ERGONOMIC DESIGN WITH THUMB REST — PC gaming mouse favored by millions worldwide with a form factor that perfectly supports the hand while its buttons are optimally positioned for quick and easy access
- 11 PROGRAMMABLE BUTTONS — Assign macros and secondary functions across 11 programmable buttons to execute essential actions like push-to-talk, ping, and more

- OPTICAL MOUSE SWITCHES GEN 2 — With zero unintended misclicks these switches provide crisp, responsive execution at a blistering 0.2ms actuation speed for up to 70 million clicks
DPI is a separate sensitivity setting, not a measure of overall mouse quality. The Rival Pro’s listed 42,000 DPI and the Aerox 3 Wireless Gen 2’s 26,000 DPI are specifications, not evidence that either will improve your aim. Pick a sensitivity that you can control consistently.

Choose between onboard buttons and software
RTINGS’ 2026 comparison distinguishes the Logitech G PRO X SUPERLIGHT, which uses software controls, from the Vaxee XE Wireless, which has physical adjustment buttons. Consider whether you would rather configure settings in software or change them directly on the mouse. The comparison does not establish that one approach is better for every setup.

Check the connection and supported setup
Logitech G’s official PRO LIGHTSPEED page describes LIGHTSPEED wireless, a stated 1 ms report rate, and a HERO 25K sensor with a 100–25,600 DPI range. These are manufacturer specifications, not a comparative test result. The cited page is an India storefront, so its local availability and pricing should not be assumed for other regions.

How to make the final choice
- Identify your fit: note your hand size and whether you use a palm, claw, or fingertip grip. Use the Vaxee XE-S and Viper V3 Pro comparison as a size reference, not a universal fit rule.
- Set your weight preference: compare the stated weights, remembering that the Logitech and Vaxee values are RTINGS’ default-weight figures and the Corsair figure is from PC Gamer’s guide.
- Choose your controls: decide whether software customization or physical adjustment buttons better fit how you change settings.
- Decide whether high polling is worth the tradeoff: if you want to use 8,000 Hz mode, account for the battery figures reported for the Rival Pro and Sabre V2 Pro rather than treating their longest listed battery life as applying at that rate.
- Verify local details: check current price, availability, included receiver or cable, and return terms with a retailer in your region. The cited guides do not provide a reliable current price comparison.
