If you want another first-person game built around melee combat and Soulslike progression, ELDERBORN is the closest match supported by the available listings. Remnant 2 is a looser alternative if you would rather fight with guns, while Guns of Eschaton belongs on a watchlist rather than a list of games you can already play.
What makes a game a good follow-up to Valor Mortis?
Valor Mortis is presented as a first-person action Soulslike set in an alternate-history Napoleonic Europe. You play William, a soldier raised from a battlefield grave amid a supernatural plague. Its listed mechanics include melee weapons, parries, dashes, finishers, supernatural powers, and exploration.
The appeal is not just the camera angle: the developer has described a Soulslike structure involving recoverable currency, bonfire-like checkpoints, difficult bosses, and backtracking for secrets. A community manager told GamesRadar, “Valor Mortis isn’t really a stealth game though! It is much closer to Dark Souls in format.” That is a description of the intended format, not an independent review.
For a close substitute, prioritize first-person melee combat and Soulslike-style character progression. A shooter may share some genre DNA, but it is an adjacent option if ranged combat is what you want—not a direct stand-in for Valor Mortis.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Best close match: ELDERBORN
ELDERBORN is the strongest match in this list for players seeking first-person melee with Soulslike progression. Steam describes it as a dark-fantasy slasher with “brutal FPP melee combat and souls-like/RPG character progression.” That combination aligns directly with the perspective and combat emphasis that make Valor Mortis distinctive.
The match is broad, not exact: the cited description does not establish that ELDERBORN shares Valor Mortis’s Napoleonic setting, story, or specific combat systems. Choose it for the first-person melee and progression overlap, not as a promise of the same world or feel.

Adjacent pick: Remnant 2 for ranged Soulslike combat

That description supports the shooter comparison, not a feature-by-feature equivalence with Valor Mortis. It should not be treated as a first-person melee substitute.

Watchlist: Guns of Eschaton
Guns of Eschaton was reported by Windows Central in June 2026 as a forthcoming first-person Soulslike shooter for solo play or two-player co-op. The cited coverage did not give a release date, so it is a title to keep an eye on rather than a confirmed game to play now.
