For 007 First Light, start with a Linear aim response curve, 1.35 horizontal and 1.15 vertical aim sensitivity, 1.65 horizontal and 1.30 vertical camera sensitivity, and 0.25 horizontal and 0.20 vertical camera deceleration. Leave the controller scheme and deadzones at their defaults while testing. This keeps the reticle deliberate while allowing faster room scans; if the right stick feels heavy, reduce camera deceleration before raising sensitivity.

There is no formally documented “GoldenEye missions” mode in the available 007 First Light support material. If you mean GoldenEye-style or classic GoldenEye missions, treat this as a 007 First Light baseline rather than a preset officially created for the original game.

The recommended 007 First Light controller profile

Apply the following values first, then play a Tactical Simulation and one normal mission before changing anything. The separation between aim and camera values is intentional: aim controls fine reticle movement, while camera controls scanning, turning and checking threats.

Setting Starting value What it controls
Aim response curve Linear How stick movement is translated into reticle movement
Horizontal aim sensitivity 1.35 Left-right reticle movement
Vertical aim sensitivity 1.15 Up-down reticle movement
Horizontal camera sensitivity 1.65 Left-right camera turning and scanning
Vertical camera sensitivity 1.30 Up-down camera movement
Horizontal camera deceleration 0.25 How quickly horizontal camera movement slows after you move the stick
Vertical camera deceleration 0.20 How quickly vertical camera movement slows after you move the stick
Controller scheme Default Button and trigger layout
Stick deadzones Default initially How much stick movement is ignored around the center position

This baseline follows the June 6, 2026 fan guide and the companion controller guide’s central recommendation: keep aim sensitivity below camera sensitivity and address a sluggish right stick by reducing camera deceleration rather than immediately maximizing every slider. The exact feel still depends on your controller, display and personal preference, so use the numbers as a controlled starting point, not a universal final setting.

Why the profile feels responsive without making aiming twitchy

Linear response makes small corrections predictable

A Linear response curve gives a direct relationship between stick movement and reticle movement. Small stick deflections produce correspondingly small aim changes, which makes it easier to settle on a head, hand or gadget target instead of having the reticle accelerate unexpectedly. That predictability is particularly useful when you are tracking a guard or making a small correction before a precision shot.

A response curve does not determine the maximum turn speed by itself. It changes how movement builds from the center of the stick. If the reticle feels inconsistent at low stick pressure, changing the curve is more appropriate than simply adding sensitivity.

Lower aim sensitivity protects precision

The 1.35 horizontal and 1.15 vertical aim values are deliberately lower than the camera values. Aiming usually involves small lateral and vertical corrections, so excessive sensitivity can make the reticle pass the target every time you try to stop. The slight difference between horizontal and vertical aim also keeps vertical corrections calmer while preserving enough horizontal speed for moving targets.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If you regularly stop short of targets, raise the relevant aim slider by one increment and retest. Change only one axis at a time so you know which adjustment helped. If you overshoot, reverse that single change instead of altering the whole profile.

Higher camera sensitivity handles scanning

Camera sensitivity is for looking around before and between engagements: checking patrol routes, turning toward a sound, finding cover and surveying a room. The recommended 1.65 horizontal and 1.30 vertical values let you turn more quickly than you aim. That difference is what answers the common question, “How do I make the camera turn faster without making the reticle twitchy?” Increase camera sensitivity for faster scanning while leaving aim sensitivity lower for target control.

Deceleration is the fix for a heavy right stick

Camera deceleration determines how strongly camera movement slows after an input. A high value can make the stick feel resistant or delayed even when the sensitivity number looks adequate. Starting at 0.25 horizontally and 0.20 vertically makes the camera stop more promptly and gives short turns a more immediate feel.

The June 6, 2026 fan guide calls lowering Camera Deceleration the single most useful change for a “heavy”-feeling right stick. This is why deceleration should be adjusted before making a large jump in sensitivity. Raising sensitivity while leaving excessive deceleration in place can make the camera fast at full stick but still sluggish during normal, partial-stick movement.

Default layout and deadzones are safer first tests

Keep the Default controller scheme while you establish the sensitivity profile. A different button arrangement may be more comfortable, but it does not correct a slow response curve, high deceleration or an unsuitable sensitivity value.

Leave stick deadzones at their default values initially. Reduce them only when the controller is demonstrably free of drift. A smaller deadzone can make a healthy stick respond earlier, but on a worn or drifting stick it can produce unwanted camera movement, slow reticle creep or movement that continues when you are not touching the controller.

How to apply the settings

Menu names and the way options are presented vary by platform. The official May 26, 2026 player-support page says 007 First Light provides accessibility options on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam, with relevant controls generally appearing under Accessibility, Audio, Video or Visual, and Controls. Use the labels shown on your system rather than assuming every platform has an identical path.

  1. Pause the game or open the main menu and enter the game’s options or settings screen.
  2. Open the section containing Controls, input or accessibility options. If the camera and aim sliders are not together, check the other sections named in the support documentation, including Video or Visual.
  3. Set Aim Response Curve to Linear.
  4. Set horizontal aim sensitivity to 1.35 and vertical aim sensitivity to 1.15.
  5. Set horizontal camera sensitivity to 1.65 and vertical camera sensitivity to 1.30.
  6. Set horizontal camera deceleration to 0.25 and vertical camera deceleration to 0.20.
  7. Leave Controller Scheme on Default and stick deadzones at their default values.
  8. Save or confirm the changes, then test them in a Tactical Simulation before replaying a difficult story mission.

If your version uses different labels, identify the setting by its function. “Aim” or “reticle” controls should be separated from “camera” or “look” controls; “deceleration” is the option that governs how quickly camera motion settles after a stick input.

Tune the profile by symptom

The camera still feels sluggish

  1. Confirm that you changed camera deceleration, not aim sensitivity.
  2. Lower horizontal deceleration first if the problem is slow left-right turning.
  3. Lower vertical deceleration first if looking up and down feels delayed.
  4. Play the same short section again before changing camera sensitivity.
  5. If turning is still too slow after deceleration is reduced, raise only the affected camera sensitivity by one increment.

This order preserves the controlled reticle while making the camera more immediate. Maxing every sensitivity slider can create fast turns but poor target stopping.

The reticle overshoots targets

Lower the affected aim axis by one increment and retest. Keep camera sensitivity unchanged unless the camera itself is also too slow. Overshooting while scanning does not necessarily mean your aim sensitivity is wrong; the two systems should be tuned separately.

The reticle feels slow but the camera is comfortable

Raise aim sensitivity in small increments, beginning with the axis that feels limiting. Do not raise camera sensitivity as a substitute, because that changes free-look speed rather than fine reticle control. Continue to keep aim values below camera values unless testing shows a clear reason not to.

The view moves when the stick is released

Return the deadzone to its default value if you reduced it. Test the controller on a stationary menu or in a safe area. If movement persists with default deadzones, the issue is likely controller drift or hardware wear rather than an aiming profile. Increasing sensitivity will not cure drift.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Aiming feels inconsistent at very small stick movements

Verify that Aim Response Curve is Linear. A nonlinear curve can make the center of the stick feel too slow or too fast relative to the outer range. After selecting Linear, retest before changing sensitivity.

Buttons feel awkward

Try another controller scheme only after the aim profile feels correct. Remapping can reduce finger travel or make a preferred action easier to reach, but it does not change the response curve, sensitivity or deceleration that determine camera feel.

Settings for stealth, firefights and gadgets

Stealth sections

Stealth asks you to check guard routes, move the camera toward possible threats and identify interaction or gadget opportunities without throwing the reticle past the target. The recommended camera values provide room-scanning speed, while the lower aim values help you stop on a guard or an object.

Epic’s May 2026 guide recommends exploring levels, choosing gadgets that suit your playstyle and using Q-Lens to identify interactable objects and enemies. Q-Lens is therefore part of the information-gathering routine: use it to confirm what you are looking at instead of trying to solve every identification problem by increasing sensitivity.

Firefights

In open combat, keep the lower aim sensitivity and use cover to reduce the amount of emergency camera movement required. The combat guidance describes stealth, takedowns, parries and Focus as parts of the encounter system, with Focus-style precision shots rewarding deliberate target placement. A controlled reticle is more useful here than a high value that makes rapid target transitions difficult to stop.

If you cannot turn quickly enough between threats, adjust camera sensitivity or deceleration, not both aim axes at once. This retains the slower, precise reticle while improving the view’s ability to find the next threat.

Melee and close-range encounters

Close-range encounters can expose an overly high camera value because small movements cover a large part of the screen. Start with the same baseline and change only after testing. Epic’s guide identifies parrying, dodging, grabbing and melee-combo timing as skills taught through Tactical Simulations, so use those scenarios to determine whether a camera change helps your timing or merely makes the view harder to settle.

Use TacSim as a controlled practice environment

Tactical Simulations are optional challenge scenarios designed to drill aim, gadgets, melee and movement. Epic’s official guide specifically says they teach parrying, dodging, grabbing and melee-combo timing, with additional scenarios unlocking during the campaign. That makes TacSim a better place to tune than a late mission where a failed experiment costs progress or forces you to repeat a long section.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Enter a TacSim that includes the skill you want to test.
  2. Spend the first attempt observing the baseline: note whether camera turns lag, whether the reticle overshoots and whether the stick returns cleanly to center.
  3. Change one setting by one increment. Start with camera deceleration for a heavy camera, aim sensitivity for reticle overshoot or under-turning, and deadzones only when drift is absent.
  4. Repeat the same type of movement or target transition under the new value.
  5. Keep the change only if it solves the specific symptom without creating a new one.

Use separate tests for scanning, aiming and melee timing. A setting that helps a rapid turn may not help a precision shot, and changing several values between attempts prevents you from identifying the cause.

Platform-specific considerations

PlayStation 5

The official support information lists DualSense vibration and trigger-effect support on PlayStation 5. These features affect physical feedback, not the numerical relationship between aim sensitivity, camera sensitivity and deceleration. Keep them enabled or disabled according to comfort while evaluating the profile, but do not use vibration strength as a substitute for correcting a heavy camera.

Xbox Series X|S

Xbox supports basic and full remapping plus sensitivity and inversion options according to the support page. Remapping can help you reach actions comfortably, while inversion changes the direction of vertical look. Choose inversion based on your established preference; it does not alter the recommended sensitivity relationship.

Steam

The Steam version supports keyboard and mouse, touch input, single-stick play and stick inversion. The values in this article are intended for a controller and should not be treated as mouse-sensitivity recommendations. If you switch input methods, review the available controls and accessibility labels for that method.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Because feature presentation can differ by platform and storefront, a missing label does not necessarily mean the function is unavailable. Check the Controls, Accessibility, Audio and Video or Visual sections before concluding that an option is absent.

What the “GoldenEye missions” wording means here

The available 007 First Light support and guide material explains the game’s missions and controls but does not establish a formally named mode called “GoldenEye missions.” The original GoldenEye 007 campaign is a separate context. The profile above is consequently a 007 First Light controller baseline for players seeking a GoldenEye-style feel, not a documented classic-game preset or a claim that the two campaigns use identical mechanics.

That distinction matters when interpreting the advice. Linear aim, separated aim and camera sensitivity, lower camera deceleration and cautious deadzone changes are settings for the controls documented in 007 First Light. They should not be assumed to map one-for-one to an original release, remaster or another platform’s implementation.
