For the most reliable Absolum mobile controls, start with a compatible MFi or Bluetooth controller if you have one. The developer recommends controller play on the PC version, and the mobile release supports controllers alongside a redesigned interface with complete touch control. If you play on the touchscreen, keep the default layout first, then move only the buttons that are hard to reach. Movement, attack, dodge, jump and special actions should all be usable without taking your primary thumb off movement.
There is no developer-published universal sensitivity value, dead-zone number or best button-map preset for mobile. The right arrangement depends on your screen size, thumb reach, controller and play style, so treat the layouts below as a practical starting point rather than an official competitive configuration.
What Absolum Mobile officially supports
The mobile edition has its own interface rather than simply shrinking the desktop HUD. The Google Play listing describes a “Revamped interface – exclusive mobile UI with complete touch control,” and the Apple listing uses the same wording. Both listings also identify controller support, while the Apple page specifically says the game is compatible with MFi controllers. Google Play shows an update date of August 27, 2026; store metadata can change as new versions are released.

It states that the developers recommend playing with a controller and lists full controller support. It also lists adjustable difficulty, save-anytime, subtitle options, custom volume controls, stereo sound and keyboard-only play for PC. Those PC options do not establish a mobile keyboard mode or a mobile-specific control preset.

In practical terms, mobile players have two supported paths:
- Touchscreen: the complete on-screen control scheme supplied by the mobile interface.
- Controller: a compatible MFi controller on Apple devices or a compatible Bluetooth gamepad on a supported phone or tablet.
Neither official mobile listing publishes a universal best layout, sensitivity setting, gesture option or dead-zone value. Any numeric setup presented as an official Absolum recommendation would therefore be misleading.
Controller or touchscreen: which is better?
Fast combat makes consistent access to several actions more important than having a large number of settings. Use the comparison below to decide where to begin.

A controller is the strongest starting choice for players who already own a compatible model and want the most repeatable dodge, attack and special-action timing. Touch is the better fit when portability, one-handed experimentation or no extra hardware matters more. Try the method you will actually use for a complete run rather than judging it from the first room.
Best controller setup for Absolum Mobile
1. Pair the gamepad before changing in-game options
- Put the MFi or Bluetooth controller into pairing mode according to its own instructions.
- Open your phone or tablet’s Bluetooth settings and select the controller when it appears.
- Launch Absolum after the operating system reports the connection. If you pair after launching, close and reopen the game if it does not detect the new input device.
- Enter a low-risk encounter and press every face button, shoulder button and trigger that your controller provides. Confirm that movement, attack, dodge, jump and special actions all respond.
The game’s default mapping is the safest first pass. Changing several assignments before confirming detection makes it difficult to tell whether a problem comes from pairing, the game version or your remap.

2. Check for missed or duplicated inputs
Hold the movement stick through a short direction change, tap attack repeatedly, and test dodge and jump while moving. A button that works in a menu but not during a fight may be mapped to a different action than expected. A trigger that never registers can indicate a controller-compatibility limitation rather than a bad in-game setting. Re-pair the device and test again before changing the rest of the map.
3. Keep the first remap minimal
If the default arrangement feels natural, leave it alone. If one action is difficult to reach, change only that action and test another encounter. Small changes preserve the muscle memory built by the default map; a complete remap can make every familiar prompt feel wrong at once.
4. Use a stable physical position
Rest the phone or tablet on a stand or table when possible instead of squeezing it while operating the controller. A stable screen reduces cable or Bluetooth movement and lets you concentrate on timing. This is an ergonomic recommendation, not a setting documented by the developer.
Best touchscreen layout: a practical starting map
Touch players should begin with the game’s default on-screen arrangement. The mobile interface was designed for touch, so moving every control immediately can create more problems than it solves. Adjust only a control that is hidden, crowded or outside a comfortable thumb arc.
Keep movement and attack continuously reachable
Movement is the anchor of the layout. Leave the virtual movement control where your natural resting thumb lands, then position the primary attack button within the other thumb’s easy reach. You should be able to move and attack together without stretching, crossing thumbs or lifting the movement thumb for a routine strike.

Place dodge beside, not beyond, attack
Dodge is normally needed while an enemy is already threatening you. Put it close enough to attack that the same thumb can reach it with a short shift, but far enough away that a normal attack tap will not trigger a dodge. If the game lets you resize controls, enlarge dodge modestly before moving it across the screen; a larger target can help more than a distant one.

Jump and special actions should be available without releasing movement. Arrange them around the attack and dodge cluster in a shape your thumb can sweep through. Avoid placing a high-consequence special directly under a frequently pressed attack button. Accidental specials can waste a resource or interrupt a planned sequence even when the controls technically work.
Leave separation between every button
Touch controls have no physical edges to tell your fingers where one button ends. Maintain visible gaps, especially between attack, dodge and special actions. A compact cluster is faster only when each tap is unambiguous; a crowded cluster turns speed into mis-presses.
Move obstructed controls toward the using thumb
If your hand covers a button, move it toward the thumb that must press it rather than placing it in an open but distant corner. Check the layout in landscape orientation, because the usable thumb arcs are different from portrait orientation. Make one change at a time and return to the same type of encounter to judge whether the change actually helped.
Step-by-step touch setup and testing routine
- Use landscape orientation. A wider screen gives both thumbs more room and keeps the action cluster separate from movement. The recommendation is ergonomic guidance, not an official Absolum requirement.
- Load the default layout. Do not begin by copying a layout from another game; Absolum’s mobile interface and action priorities may differ.
- Identify the five essential actions. Locate movement, attack, dodge, jump and special. If any is covered by your hand or difficult to hit, note it before moving anything.
- Adjust one control. Move the obstructed or hard-to-reach button toward its using thumb. Preserve spacing from adjacent controls.
- Run a low-risk encounter. Practice moving, attacking, dodging, jumping and using the special without worrying about a difficult fight. This reveals overlap and reach problems safely.
- Test simultaneous actions. Hold movement while tapping attack, dodge, jump and special in turn. A layout that works for isolated taps may fail when two actions are needed together.
- Save the arrangement only after a full test. If a change causes repeated mis-presses, undo that single change rather than redesigning the whole screen.
Repeat this routine after switching between a phone and tablet. A layout that feels comfortable on a large tablet can force excessive thumb travel on a smaller phone.

Combat priorities that matter more than visual symmetry
Movement first
Keep movement available at all times. Do not place a menu, special-action button or large decorative control where it can cover the movement area. The most attractive arrangement is not useful if it interrupts directional control.
Attack second
Attack should be the easiest action to press repeatedly. Place it where the non-movement thumb naturally rests, then build dodge, jump and special around that position. This creates a stable home position instead of asking your thumb to search for every action.
Dodge without releasing movement
During a threat, you should be able to hold or change direction and press dodge immediately. If your layout forces a thumb lift from movement, move dodge closer or assign it to a controller button with a distinct tactile position.
Jump and special as deliberate inputs
These actions can remain slightly farther from the resting position than attack, as long as they are reachable without crossing over another button. Give each one a visually distinct location so a quick glance is unnecessary during a fight.

Ergonomics for longer sessions
- Support the phone or tablet on a stand or stable surface instead of clenching it while playing.
- Use landscape orientation so both thumbs have a predictable operating area.
- Set brightness and volume before starting a run so you are not reaching for system controls during combat.
- Take short breaks if your thumbs or wrists become tense; moving controls farther apart can reduce strain but cannot compensate for an awkward grip.
- On a controller, position the device so the screen is visible without bending your neck or holding the gamepad at an angle that strains your wrists.
These are general comfort practices. Playdigious’ store listings do not identify a special ergonomic preset for Absolum.

Settings the official listings do not define
Do not assume that a popular setting from another action game transfers directly to Absolum. The searched official listings do not publish:
- a universal mobile sensitivity number;
- a controller-stick dead-zone value;
- a gesture configuration;
- a standard button-placement diagram;
- a mobile-specific keyboard mapping; or
- a single layout that is best for every device and player.
That absence matters when evaluating guides that promise a numeric “best settings” list. Unless a value appears in your current game build, treat it as personal tuning rather than an official recommendation. Device dimensions, thumb reach, controller model and preferred combat style all change the result.
Troubleshooting control problems
The controller is paired but the game does not respond
- Confirm that the operating system still shows the controller as connected.
- Close Absolum completely and reopen it with the controller already connected.
- Test every button in a low-risk encounter instead of assuming that menu navigation proves full support.
- Check whether the controller is a supported MFi model on Apple devices or a compatible Bluetooth gamepad on your device.
- If another controller is connected, disconnect it and test again to remove input conflicts.
A button works, but the wrong action occurs
Restore the default mapping and test again. If the default works, remap only the one action that needs a different position. If the default is still wrong, the issue may be controller-specific or version-specific; record the device model, operating system and game version before seeking support.
Touch taps trigger neighboring actions
Increase the gap between the affected buttons and move the less frequently used action farther from the attack cluster. Test while holding movement, because thumb overlap often appears only during simultaneous input. Avoid enlarging every control at once; oversized targets can create new overlaps.
The layout feels fine in menus but fails in combat
Menus test isolated taps, while combat tests reach, timing and simultaneous actions. Return to the low-risk encounter routine and practice movement plus attack, then movement plus dodge, then movement plus special. Adjust the pair that fails rather than the entire layout.
Device and platform requirements to check
Apple’s listing specifies iOS 16 or later and an A12 Bionic chip or later. Those are requirements stated for the Apple version and should not be generalized to Android devices, whose compatibility depends on the current Google Play listing and the device itself. The Apple listing also explicitly names MFi controller compatibility. For Android, verify that your particular Bluetooth controller and phone or tablet are supported before buying hardware.
Store pages can change their compatibility notes as updates arrive. Check the listing for your region and current game version immediately before troubleshooting a newly purchased controller.
A simple decision framework
- Choose a controller first if you already own a compatible MFi or Bluetooth gamepad, want tactile confirmation for dodge timing, or expect long sessions.
- Choose touch first if carrying no extra hardware is your priority, you play in short sessions, or you want the fastest setup.
- Start with defaults in either method. Change only a control you can identify as a reach, visibility or mis-input problem.
- Re-test after every change in the same low-risk situation so you can tell whether the adjustment improved control.
The best Absolum mobile setup is the one that leaves movement and attack constantly available, gives dodge a fast and unambiguous reach, and lets you trigger jump and special actions without surrendering movement. A compatible controller is the clearest precision-oriented option; the built-in touch interface remains fully supported when arranged around your own hands.
