Best Buy lists in-store recycling for flat-panel LCD, plasma, and LED TVs up to 50 inches, and tube TVs up to 31 inches. Insignia and Dynex TVs in the eligible flat-panel size range are listed as free; other eligible TVs generally carry a $29.99-per-item fee, subject to state rules. TVs over the applicable limit need a haul-away option, and store acceptance varies by location.
What size TV can you drop off at Best Buy?

These limits refer to the TV’s diagonal screen size; use the marketed screen size when checking eligibility. Best Buy states that TVs outside the listed size criteria must use a haul-away service. See the Best Buy recycling policy for its current categories and terms.
How much does Best Buy charge to recycle a TV?
The listed standard fee is $29.99 per eligible TV, but it is not universal. Insignia and Dynex flat-panel TVs up to 50 inches are listed as free. Best Buy’s policy also says store drop-off fees do not apply in California, Connecticut, and Hawaii. For TVs up to 50 inches in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan, it lists a $29.99 fee with a $30 Best Buy gift card reimbursement. Because location-specific rules can affect whether a store accepts a TV at all, confirm both eligibility and the final terms with the selected store.

Are there restrictions on the size or type of TV that can be recycled?
Yes. The in-store categories are flat-panel LCD, plasma, and LED TVs up to 50 inches, plus tube TVs up to 31 inches. Best Buy’s FAQ says the daily limit is two items per household, counting TVs and computer monitors together. It also says Connecticut and Pennsylvania stores do not accept TVs or monitors, and Outlet stores do not accept electronics recycling. The policy pages contain state-specific details that may not appear consistent, so check directly with the particular location before transporting a set. Best Buy’s recycling FAQ describes these store and household restrictions.
What are the haul-away options for a TV that is too large?
For a TV that exceeds the in-store size limit—or when store drop-off is not practical—Best Buy lists two haul-away paths. Prices and eligibility are subject to the order configuration and service terms.

Haul-away with a qualifying replacement delivery
Best Buy lists haul-away for $49.99 when an eligible replacement product is delivered. A new TV purchase does not automatically qualify: the service depends on the product and delivery configuration selected at checkout. The TV guidance describes different eligibility for larger and smaller replacement sets, and some pickup or delivery arrangements require a separate order. CRT or rear-projection sets may incur extra fees. Check the TV and appliance haul-away terms and the delivery-related haul-away details for the specific order.

Standalone haul-away
Without a qualifying replacement delivery, Best Buy lists standalone haul-away at $199.99 for up to two large products, including TVs, plus an unlimited number of select smaller products. Terms and exclusions apply; verify service availability and the items covered before scheduling.

How to prepare a TV for haul-away
- Disconnect the TV before the service team arrives. The service does not include disconnecting or unmounting products.
- Make sure the route out of the home allows removal without disassembly or structural changes.
- Review the service terms: hauled-away products cannot be returned.
Best Buy says licensed or trusted recycling partners process hauled-away products for recycling.
