Best overall alternative: There is no universal winner, but the LG B5 is the strongest starting point for most shoppers who value natural motion, while the Samsung S85F offers a 2025 OLED option and the Philips OLED760 stands out for bright SDR color in one side-by-side test. The newer 2026 LG B6 deserves priority when its same-size price is close to the B5. Choose among them only after checking the exact screen size, current delivered price, room brightness, content mix, gaming requirements and HDR-format needs.

Roku’s standard Pro Series remains the comparison baseline: it comes in 55- and 65-inch classes with 4K OLED, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HLG, a listed 120 Hz refresh rate, Dolby Atmos and included stands. The Pro Series LX is a separate model family whose listing adds 144 Hz VRR, so do not apply that specification to the standard Pro Series.

What counts as a budget OLED alternative?

“Budget” is relative in OLED shopping. It means a lower-priced model within the OLED category, not necessarily the cheapest television on the market. Prices change by size, retailer, clearance cycle and region, so a 55-inch model can be a better value than a nominally cheaper 65-inch set when the larger screen has been discounted less aggressively. Compare televisions at the same size and on the same day.

The shortlist below is deliberately conditional. The available comparisons do not provide one common laboratory scorecard for every model, and the Samsung listing available for reference is a particular 77-inch US SKU rather than a cross-size price guide. Treat reviewer observations as evidence about the tested scenes, not guarantees for every film, broadcast or game.

Roku Pro Series baseline

Use Roku’s standard Pro Series as the feature reference when deciding whether an alternative is genuinely better value. The official US listing specifies:

Specification Standard Roku Pro Series
Screen classes 55-inch and 65-inch
Resolution and panel 4K OLED
Refresh rate 120 Hz listed
HDR formats Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and HLG
Audio format Dolby Atmos
In-box support TV stands included

Roku separately lists 144 Hz variable refresh rate for the Pro Series LX. That is not the same product as the standard Pro Series, so verify the model name on a retailer page before using 144 Hz as a comparison point.

A TechRadar test measured 96% DCI-P3 coverage on the Roku Pro OLED. That is a reviewer measurement from a 2026 test, not a figure published by Roku and not a prediction of how every source will look. It is useful as a color-gamut data point, but it does not by itself establish brightness, processing quality or gaming performance.

Best alternatives at a glance

Model What the evidence supports Where to be cautious
LG B5 A hands-on comparison found its motion the smoothest and most natural among the LG B5, Samsung S85F and Philips OLED760 in the tested scenes. The observation applies to that comparison, not to every type of content or viewing setup. Check the current same-size price and stock.
Samsung S85F A 2025 4K OLED model; Samsung’s US page lists 120 Hz motion processing. In the side-by-side assessment, its picture performance sat between the LG B5 and Philips OLED760. The cited Samsung page is for a 77-inch listing, and its displayed price or availability should not be generalized to other sizes or regions.
Philips OLED760 The comparison reviewer found it brightest in SDR in that test and described its color as vibrant. The same review noted texture and upscaling weaknesses in some scenes. Availability varies by market.
LG B6 RTINGS’ October 9, 2026 OLED-guide update replaced the B5 with the B6 because the newer model was more widely available and prices were beginning to fall. Tom’s Guide described the B6 as a value comparison with stronger HDR brightness than Roku in its assessment. It is a newer model, so verify the exact size, local stock and current price rather than assuming it is cheaper than the B5.

LG B5: the motion-first choice

The LG B5 is the most defensible first alternative when your priority is natural movement. In a hands-on side-by-side with the Samsung S85F and Philips OLED760, the reviewer judged the B5’s motion the smoothest and most natural in the scenes tested. That makes it especially interesting for viewers sensitive to judder, camera pans or the artificial “video” look created by aggressive motion processing.

Do not turn that observation into a universal ranking. Motion depends on source frame rate, the television’s processing mode and the settings selected. A result seen with one film clip may not match sports, streaming drama, live television or a console game. If motion is your deciding factor, ask a retailer about its return window and inspect the exact size in a familiar content type.

Who should choose the B5

  • Movie and series viewers who prefer fluid but natural camera movement.
  • Shoppers comparing a discounted outgoing model with newer OLEDs.
  • Buyers who want a well-established alternative but do not need to pay extra for the newest generation.

What to verify before buying

  • The screen size and model suffix, because a deal on one size does not establish value for another.
  • Whether the seller is offering a new unit, clearance stock or an open-box television.
  • Warranty coverage, return shipping and delivered cost in your country.

Samsung S85F: a 2025 OLED middle option

Samsung identifies the S85F as a 2025 4K OLED model and lists 120 Hz motion processing. In the same side-by-side comparison that included the B5 and OLED760, the reviewer placed the S85F between those two sets in the picture assessment. That makes it a sensible candidate when a local promotion puts it close to the other models at the same size.

The Samsung page used for the specification is a 77-inch US listing. Its displayed price and stock are therefore not a dependable guide to 55-, 65- or other sizes, and they cannot be transferred to another country. Check the specification page for the exact diagonal and regional model code you are considering.

Questions to answer for the S85F

  • Does the exact regional version include the HDR formats you use? Do not assume that a rival supports every format listed for Roku.
  • Is the 120 Hz figure describing the model’s motion capability in the listing, and does it meet your console or PC requirement?
  • Does the delivered price remain competitive after adding delivery, installation and any extended warranty?

Philips OLED760: vivid SDR and market-dependent availability

The Philips OLED760 had the strongest SDR brightness in the cited side-by-side test, and the reviewer described its color as vibrant. That combination can appeal to viewers who watch a lot of daytime broadcast television, older films or other standard-dynamic-range material and want an energetic picture.

The same comparison found texture and upscaling weaknesses in some scenes. Upscaling matters when a television turns HD broadcasts, DVDs or lower-resolution streams into a 4K image. If most of your viewing is native 4K streaming, that limitation may matter less; if you watch substantial HD or compressed television, inspect those sources before committing.

Philips availability is market-dependent. Confirm that the OLED760 is officially sold in your country, that the warranty is valid locally and that replacement or service arrangements are practical. A low imported price can lose its advantage if support, returns or compatible power requirements are unclear.

Best fit for the OLED760

  • Rooms where SDR television is a major part of the viewing schedule.
  • Viewers who prioritize lively color and can accept checking lower-resolution content carefully.
  • Shoppers in a region with established Philips distribution and local warranty service.

LG B6: the newer 2026 comparison to watch

The LG B6 is important because availability, not just technical generation, changes the value equation. RTINGS updated its OLED guide on October 9, 2026, replacing the LG B5 with the B6 because the newer model was more widely available and was beginning to come down in price. That is a buying signal, not a promise that every B6 size is inexpensive.

Tom’s Guide’s Roku review also treated the B6 as a value comparison and found stronger HDR brightness than Roku in its assessment. Brightness differences are most useful when your room has daylight or when you watch HDR material with bright highlights. They do not remove the need to compare reflections, viewing position, motion, processing and price at the same diagonal.

When the B6 makes more sense than the B5

  1. Check both models in the same screen size.
  2. Compare the current delivered prices, including delivery and installation.
  3. Prefer the B6 when its availability, warranty and price are at least as favorable as the B5’s.
  4. Choose the B5 instead when a substantial clearance discount outweighs the B6’s newer-generation advantages.

How to compare these TVs fairly

1. Match screen size first

A 77-inch S85F price cannot be compared directly with a 55-inch B5 or 65-inch Roku. Larger panels cost more and can have different promotions, shipping fees and stock levels. Put the same diagonal in every browser tab before judging value.

2. Match the delivered price and warranty

Use the price you can actually pay in your location, not a headline figure from another country or a different size. Include delivery, installation, return shipping and any mandatory recycling charge. Record the warranty length, who handles service and whether a panel replacement is available locally.

3. Judge HDR in the room where it will live

OLED contrast is most noticeable in a dim or controlled room, while bright windows can make any glossy screen harder to see. For a sunlit room, place greater weight on the documented HDR-brightness comparison for the B6 and the tested SDR-brightness advantage reported for the OLED760. Do not infer a complete brightness ranking for every model from those separate observations.

4. Test your real content

Bring examples that represent your week: 24-frame films, streaming series, live sports, HD broadcast channels, compressed clips and games. The B5’s smooth-motion result came from selected comparison scenes; the OLED760’s texture and upscaling caveat also appeared in particular scenes. Your sources may expose different strengths and weaknesses.

5. Confirm gaming requirements

Check the exact model’s refresh-rate and variable-refresh specifications before buying. The standard Roku Pro Series is listed at 120 Hz, while Roku assigns 144 Hz VRR to the separate Pro Series LX. Do not assume that a 120 Hz motion listing, such as the S85F’s, automatically confirms every gaming feature you need. Verify console compatibility, VRR range and input-latency measurements for the specific regional SKU.

6. Confirm HDR formats

Roku officially lists Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and HLG for the standard Pro Series. The available evidence does not establish that every alternative supports the same combination. If Dolby Vision is important to your streaming library or disc player, check the manufacturer specification for the exact model before treating a rival as equivalent.

7. Check physical installation details

Roku says stands are included with the standard Pro Series, so do not add a stand to its required purchase list. For any wall mount, verify the television’s VESA pattern, weight and screw requirements against the exact size. Those details can differ within one model family and should come from the manufacturer’s installation documentation.

Choosing by room, content and priorities

Your priority Start with Reasoning
Natural motion for films and series LG B5 The side-by-side reviewer found its motion smoothest and most natural in the tested scenes.
Newer generation and improving availability LG B6 RTINGS moved to it in October 2026 because availability was wider and prices were beginning to fall.
Bright SDR television and vivid color Philips OLED760 It was brightest in SDR and had vibrant color in the cited comparison, with an upscaling trade-off.
A Samsung 2025 OLED option Samsung S85F Samsung lists it as a 2025 4K OLED with 120 Hz motion processing; the reviewer placed it between the other two in picture assessment.
Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and HLG in one listed baseline Standard Roku Pro Series Those formats are explicitly listed by Roku; verify whether an alternative offers the formats you require.

Common buying mistakes

Confusing the standard Pro with the LX

The 144 Hz VRR claim belongs to the Pro Series LX listing. Applying it to the standard 120 Hz Pro Series can lead to the wrong choice for a high-refresh-rate gaming setup.

Using a 77-inch listing to judge every S85F

The cited Samsung page is a specific 77-inch US product page. Its price, stock and included accessories are not a reliable template for other sizes or countries.

Assuming one test settles every picture question

The B5 motion result, OLED760 SDR-brightness result and texture observations are all tied to the scenes and conditions of one comparison. Use them to form a shortlist, then inspect the content you actually watch.

Ignoring upscaling

OLED resolution does not improve a poor source automatically. If your viewing includes HD broadcasts or heavily compressed streams, the OLED760’s reported texture and upscaling weakness deserves more weight than it would for an all-4K streamer.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Buying on a stale price

OLED pricing moves quickly, especially when a new model replaces an older one. Recheck price, stock, model year and warranty immediately before ordering. The B6’s widening availability and falling prices are precisely why an older B5 deal should be calculated rather than assumed.

A practical buying checklist

  1. Write down your target diagonal and maximum delivered budget.
  2. List the content you watch most: HDR streaming, SDR broadcast, films, sports, games or mixed use.
  3. Measure the room’s daylight and seating distance, then decide whether brightness or dark-room contrast matters more.
  4. Open the manufacturer page for the exact model and size, not a family-level summary.
  5. Confirm refresh rate, VRR, HDR formats, ports, stand inclusion and wall-mount requirements.
  6. Compare at least two same-size prices from sellers that provide local warranty support.
  7. Check return conditions for panel uniformity, dead pixels and motion-processing preferences.
  8. Recheck stock and delivered cost on the day you purchase.

Bottom line

Start with the LG B5 if smooth, natural motion is your priority and its same-size price is compelling. Consider the Samsung S85F when a 2025 model is competitively priced in your region. Choose the Philips OLED760 when bright SDR performance and vibrant color matter more than its reported texture and upscaling weaknesses, provided it is properly supported in your market. Give the 2026 LG B6 first consideration when it is close in price to the B5, because wider availability and falling prices have made it the newer value reference.

The standard Roku Pro Series remains a strong feature baseline with 4K OLED, 120 Hz, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HLG, Dolby Atmos and included stands. No source establishes one alternative as the universal winner. The right purchase is the model that wins a same-size, same-price comparison for your room, content and required HDR and gaming features.
