The Sony ZV-E10 II, Nikon Z 30, Canon EOS R50 and Panasonic LUMIX G100D are reasonable low-cost cameras to compare for video creation, but the available manufacturer specifications do not establish a tested quality ranking or a current price winner. Prices and bundles vary by country and date, so compare the total cost of the body, lens and other equipment you need in your local market.

How to choose a low-cost camera for video production

Start with the kind of footage you plan to make, then check whether each camera supports the recording modes and lens setup your project needs. A camera advertised as 4K may have different frame-rate options, slow-motion capabilities and format choices from another model. Confirm the exact mode in the manufacturer’s specifications rather than assuming that every feature works together at every resolution.

  • For regular 4K delivery: check the available 4K frame rates and any mode-specific limitations.
  • For slow motion: compare the supported Full HD frame rates, not just the camera’s 4K headline.
  • For grading flexibility: examine the specific recording format and bit depth available in the modes you will use.
  • For a complete setup: include the lens and any compatible equipment required for your intended shot in the budget.

The specifications below come from manufacturer product pages, not independent comparisons. They are useful for narrowing a shortlist, but they do not establish relative image quality, autofocus performance, stabilization, audio quality, overheating behavior or battery endurance.

Compare the cameras’ documented video specifications

Camera Documented video details Lens and source-market notes
Sony ZV-E10 II Sony lists 4K recording modes, high-frame-rate Full HD and 4:2:2 10-bit modes. Check Sony’s mode table for the exact resolution, frame-rate and bit-depth combinations; the specifications do not mean every combination is available. APS-C interchangeable-lens E-mount camera. The cited specifications are from Sony USA: ZV-E10 II specifications.
Nikon Z 30 Nikon lists UHD 4K at 24p, 25p and 30p, plus Full HD up to 120p. Nikon gives body weight as 350 g. The cited overview is from Nikon USA: Nikon Z 30 product information. The listed weight is a manufacturer specification, not an independent measurement.
Canon EOS R50 Canon’s cited product page describes 4K 30p movies. The source is Canon’s UAE store page and does not establish local pricing elsewhere: Canon EOS R50 product page.
Panasonic LUMIX G100D Panasonic lists 4K at 24p, 25p and 30p, and Full HD through 60p. Panasonic Australia documents a kit with a 12–32 mm lens. Check local kit contents and model designation: LUMIX G100D kit specifications.

What the specifications mean for your project

Choose frame rates around the footage you need

The Nikon Z 30’s listed Full HD maximum of 120p provides a higher documented Full HD frame rate than the Panasonic G100D’s listed maximum of 60p. That can matter if your workflow calls for slow-motion footage, but it is not a like-for-like quality verdict: the cited specifications do not establish image quality at those settings or the playback and editing experience. For 4K, Nikon and Panasonic both list 24p, 25p and 30p; Canon’s cited page specifies 4K 30p.

Check mode combinations before relying on 10-bit recording

The ZV-E10 II specifications include 4:2:2 10-bit recording modes, which may be relevant if you want more flexibility in post-production. Verify the precise supported combinations in Sony’s specifications before planning a workflow around a particular resolution and frame rate. The source does not support a claim that every recording mode is 10-bit.

Budget for the lens, not just the camera body

Only the cited Panasonic page specifically documents a kit containing a 12–32 mm lens. Bundle contents for the other candidates are not established by the cited sources, so check the exact product listing before treating a price as a complete camera-and-lens setup. Also verify the lens mount and compatibility of any lens or accessory before buying.

How to compare prices fairly

No current price comparison is established here, and the regional Canon and Panasonic pages do not establish prices for other markets. For a useful local comparison, check each model’s body-only price and the price of the kit you would actually buy, then account for any compatible lens and equipment your project requires. Stock, discounts and bundle contents can change by retailer, market and date.

Should you also consider the original Sony ZV-E10?

The original Sony ZV-E10 is an additional comparison point, not a proven cheaper or better-value choice. Sony’s US specifications list 4K up to 30p and picture-profile options including S-Log2, S-Log3 and HLG. Its current price, availability and value relative to the newer ZV-E10 II were not established. See Sony ZV-E10 specifications.

What these sources cannot settle

Manufacturer specification pages do not provide a consistent basis for ranking these cameras on autofocus, stabilization, audio quality, overheating, battery life or image quality. Those factors can determine whether a camera suits a particular production, but no cross-model conclusion on them is supported by the product details cited here. Treat the shortlist as a way to identify candidates whose documented recording modes fit your needs, then verify current local pricing, package contents and compatibility before deciding.
